There was an error on my return flight details which I booked through Expedia.ca. I tried to correct the problem by contacting the carrier but they told me it was an Expedia.ca issue. Have you ever tried to contact Expedia customer care by phone? It's near impossible and you can spend a whole day waiting on hold listening to horrible and distorted music while no-one answers the phone. Shame on you Expedia this is very frustrating. I doubt I will book through you again.
The final cost of package showed by Expedia does not reflect the actual world.
1- Hotel charged me more than what Expedia displayed at the receipt titled "Resort fee/pay at property").
2- Same for the flight. Swoop airline charged me for seat and even carry-on bag addition to the base fare showed in Expedia receipt (almost doubled).
3- The Expedia receipt is vague and uninformative (how much exactly paid for what and what was the FX rate used?).
I had an issue with a hotel. A hotel charged me for a room cancelled within the free cancellation period. The hotel didn't want to reimburse me so I contacted expedia. In their emails they kept repeating the same thing which was not a solution to my problem (I had the feeling that they didn't really read my emails). Then I called them. The agents on the phone were very kind and seemed like they are trying to help. It took 3 calls to finally find a solution but at least they helped me in the end. I got reimbursed by expedia. Satisfied with their customer service over the phone.
We booked a trip in November to fly to Europe in May. Then Covid 19 shut down all non-essential air travel and instead of getting refunds they advised we would get a credit. I called 3 times. The first two times I received call backs The first call weI said hello and the call disconnected. No call back from the person in India I said hello to. I called Expedia immediately and had another wait time of 45 min. I received a second call back, confirmed my name and then got the dreaded recording that they were having computer issues. I finally reached someone at 5; 30am my time the next day to be told that I have to do their work for them and contact the airline and insurance companies directly. Don't bother to use their service when you do all the work yourself and they end up being an annoying middleman who don't earn their commissions. Book direct or even better use a professional travel agent. I know I will when we can finally travel.
I've used expedia actually quite often to research plane tickets, hotels deals, and have been a corporate member with their rewards program for quite some time now. Good site, always up to date.
Our first time using this type service, we booked a hotel with the agent but were not told they would charge our credit card within 24 hrs. They did so I phoned back explaining we were not informed of this and would like to cancel and get a full refund only to be told there was a $20 administration fee. Weren't told about that either... sigh.
After several back and forth emails we ended up getting the full refund so all in all we were treated fairly. So Please be aware that you will be paying for their service within 24 hrs. We found this unacceptable simply because we seldom/never use our credit card to purchase, it serves to "hold" said service till we pay via cash, debit etc UPON arrival. Buyer beware right, my beef remains the fact this (and the NON refundable "administration" fee) was never divulged during the phone conversation and the fact that our stay was 10 or so days away. So they take your money today even though you might be months away from the actual stay/flight etc. Sorry Expedia this is not how I do business. We will not be using them again.
In Jan/2017I booked (a) Air Canada flight from Winnipeg to La Vegas and then (b) X hotel nights at the Stratosphere. The booking confirmation from the Stratosphere said I had window of x days in which to change/cancel the booking. When I tried to cancel the hotel through Expedia (couldn't be done on-line) my two separate bookings had morphed into a non-cancellable (without penalty, which equalled the hotel cost) "package holiday". I would have had to cancel both parts and then re-book, after paying the $200+ airline rebooking penalty.
Three hours on phone with Expedia and they offer me a voucher worth half what I paid. That's what they have on record. Let me say I know the law. If an airline cancels on you they are legally required to give a full refund. Sorry to my Air Canada friends but I am contacting a lawyer. Also seven years ago my daughter and I booked a flight with Expedia and arrived to a hotel that closed down. They offered a hotel refund. That was it. Nothing for the panic attack my daughter had or the cost of travel to find a new hotel and being Jazz week we were lucky to find anything at all. DO NOT BOOK WITH Expedia. Ca they will rip you off every time!
If something goes wrong with your flight or itinerary do not expect to be able to get in touch with anyone from customer service in a timely manner. 2.5 hours on hold until someone hung up on me and I missed my flight. No one reimbursed me and I paid an extra $500 to fly out the following day and lose a day of travel.
To add insult to injury, I have placed multiple complaints to customer service over the past 2 weeks with zero response. What a disgrace!
Needless to say, I will never be using Expedia again and I am a frequent traveler!
The expedia canada agent (who i learned was based in Cairo) provided inaccurate advice and booked my trip based on that advice; the result was a missed flight and us having to purchase new air tickets altogether. On top of this what they said would happen in case of delays did not happen with the airline and the standards they refer to in terms of minimum time for connection dont even match the real standards for that airport or airline. Staff is very incompetent and unhelpful whenever you are facing a problem while travelling. Never again will use expedia.
Incredibly long wait times for help. Was hung up on three times and had to persevere through the hold process until I was finally speaking with a supervisor who could actually help me. Turns out cancellation insurance is absolutely useless unless you have a heart attack or something - even then hours and hours of paperwork and calls to get you money back. Horrible. Never use this travel site. I used to use it a lot but now it is useless.
Goat rodeo associated with trying to use an existing airline credit. Tried this on 3 separate flight credits. The process is call answered, put on hold to gather information, hold again to check with manager, hold again to contact airline since there systems show expired ticket even though its well within the 1 year from date of purchase, hold again to contact airline, final response that you need to contact airline directly. No resolution and 1.5 hours wasted. 3 different tickets same response. Once they get their $ you are out of luck.
Your egyptian staff are really rude! Would not want to deal with them ever.
Please never book with EXPEDIA - their call centre is in Cairo, Egypt.
YOu will be put on hold for hours and they do not help you. Very rude staff!
My wife and I paid Expedia the full double-occupancy rate for an "all inclusive" trip to Mexico. When we arrived we discovered that we did not have our own room. I had to pay the hotel (again) so we would have a room, and assumed the issue would be easy to fix when we returned (I already paid Expedia... That's what "all inclusive means"; but NOPE! After a month of emails and hours on the phone, Expedia refuses to accept any responsibility. After doing more research, this seems to be their MO. Take money then ignore the customer until they give up. I can't believe how they stay in business?
Full of lies. So I bought a ticket recently that seemed legit, and I told myself if was expedia so what could go wrong... Little did I know that the luggages that expedia said were included were not, not even the carry-ons. Once calling to customer service, they just said oh you cannot bring anything, while I had pictures showing otherwise, they said INCLUDED. Customer service was a waste of time. And watch out for the fake advertising, it really sucks, never booking from them again.
Expedia.ca in the course of an hour blocked *******$ on my credit card and bank card because of a fault with their website, after two phone call and almost 2 hours on the phone, all I got was a that is tough you'll have to wait for the bank to release the funds back to you in 3-5 days. The manager on duty was even less helpful. As this is the Christmas season flights are filling and becoming more expensive. I will never book with you again.
I strongly recommend anyone to book direct with hotels and airlines - Expedia does nothing to assist when things go wrong, even when it is their own mistake. You end up having to deal with the individual businesses yourself anyway and Expedia holds zero accountability for themselves and customer service is useless. I will NEVER book through Expedia again. Buyer beware.
If you are tired of being hung out to dry by online agencies when things go wrong, Expedia is the agency for you.
I have dealt with agencies like Priceline in the past and found myself in a shoe-box of a room in Rome that was far from what I was promised with no help from that agency. On the other hand, I booked through Expedia a few years ago and had a similar experience with a European hotel. One call to Expedia and they not only rectified the situation but refunded my total hotel cost as a good will gesture.
Yesterday, I had to cancel a hotel booking I made in Mexico through Expedia. To my delight, my payment was credited to my credit card in less than 24 hours.
This company clearly puts it's customers first! It is my go-to online agency.
Their customer service is awful. They keep you on hold forever, and don't help at all, even when you send them (repeatedly!) all the information they request. Was overcharged almost $200 from Budget and even though I had the credit card statement to prove it they were NO help. Will never use them again.
I just called Expedia to ask about a refund and was hung up by the person dealing with the problem.
I will never use Expedia again. Their prices are very high compared to booking through the hotel or airline yourself.
Answer: They are the worst. Do not. Book ever again with expedia...
Answer: I was totally screwed by expedia and they wasted probably 20 hours of my life - anyone feel me!?
Answer: Unfortunately there's not much you can do about it now if you have given them your credit card. Just don't ever use them again
