I booked a hotel on Sanibel Island, FL about 5 weeks in advance of my stay, paying full price for 4 nights and received a reservation number from Cancelon. Four days before my stay I contacted the hotel directly and they had no record of my reservation. When I contacted Cancelon, the staff reported that there was a problem with the reservation staff and to allow 24- 48 hours to resolve. After 48 hours (2 days before my flight) I was notified by Cancelon that the hotel had "overbooked" me. (In fact it was Cancelon that had overbooked, not the hotel.) I was given two alternatives: accept an alternative hotel that was not on Sanibel Island or any other beach, or get a refund.
When another website claimed the hotel we wanted book was not available; Cancelon still had availability with reasonable price.
Trustworthy travel site with quick response.
"CONSUMER ALERT: If you are directed to a cheap hotel reservation via another travel website (i. E, Trivago), DO NOT fall for the false sense of security offered by the idea of "Free Cancellation," because they CHARGE A FEE TO CANCEL! (It's all there, in TEENY TINY Black and White once you are re-directed, but don't be an idiot like I was and just ASSUME that "free cancellation" actually MEANS "Free Cancellation." IT DOESN'T!)
I sold a room on Cancelon after I was no longer able to make my trip. Never received payment. Several calls and emails all promising payment, but nothing! Stay away!
Dear Amy,
Hope you're well!
Please note that we have already transferred the payment and you should see the amount with 24-48 hours.
We apologize for the inconvenience caused to you about the late payment.
Kind Regards,
Saurabh
Here is an update. As of yesterday Cancelon refunded the amount to my American Express Account. I am not exactly sure what actually did the trick, but one or more of the following worked:
1. I opened a dispute against the charge through American Express.
2. I wrote a negative review and posted it on 3 different sites including this one.
3. I wrote to Trip Advisor Customer Service to report this case with my Cancelon reservation number and all details since I had booked the Cancelon reservation through the Trip Advisor site.
4. I called Cancelon Support center 9 times over a period of 10 days and spoke to 8 different agents including Sam who claimed to be the Supervisor. They all offered their pseudonyms and lied to me each time saying that I would get my hotel confirmed within 24 hours. Harry, Lucy, June, Daniel, Sam, Peter, Robert and Patrick were some of the names they gave me!
5. I called the hotel in Orlando to report this reservation fraud.
Final footnote - I received a call from someone called John from Cancelon today. He expressed his apologies for my inconvenience and offered me $50 for my troubles and 'hoped' I would change my review. I politely refused. He called back after a minute and offered $100 which he could deposit into a Paypal account of my choice. I refused again.
Lesson learned is that in the future I will do my due diligence and research a company before giving them my money.
Dear Dee,
We are very sorry for the inconvenience you had to face.
As per your conversation with us a few days ago, we cancelled your reservation with a full refund due to the fact that we could not provide the internal confirmation number of the hotel.
Please be informed that rooms are often allocated to customers shortly before arrival which may explain why it took longer than expected to provide you with the hotel’s confirmation number.
As per your conversation with our supervisor yesterday, we offered to cover the difference of any alternative hotel you may have booked or 50 USD compensation for the inconvenience caused.
We will investigate the points you mentioned thoroughly and take the necessary steps to improve.
Please accept our sincere apologies.
Kind Regards,
Yulia
I made a reservation from the Trip Advisor website with a company called Cancelon. Since it was listed on Trip Advisor I trusted the link.
The reservation was made 3 weeks ago (CANCELON reservation number 451806) and my credit card was charged the full amount, but the hotel has no trace of my reservation.
I have called CANCELON eight times and I have been on hold for hours. Each time they promised to get the reservation number in 24 hours or refund me my money, but to date I still do not have my hotel confirmation or a refund. I am frustrated and angry and feel helpless and robbed.
DO NOT BOOK WITH THIS COMPANY!
I had a reservation and cancelled it but did not get my full refund. This underhanded business kept $93 of MY MONEY and believe me I WILL NEVER EVER USE TripAdvisor again for using a business like CancelOn on their Website. Going back to Expedia and I suggest you do the same.
Dear Jeanette, hope you are well. We are sorry for the inconvenience. Thank you for sharing your experience. I was not able to locate your booking details using your first name. May you please share them? Thanks and Regards, Yulia
We booked a room for two nights during hurricane Irma. After one day staying at the hotel the hotel lost power so we decided to return home because we did have power. We have been waiting on a refund for almost a MONTH and these cheapskates still have not refunded our money for the second night. I call and call and get the same excuse "we are still waiting on our third party to process the refund". BS! They are SCAMMERS and steal people's hard earned money. Especially during a natural disaster like hurricane Irma. They could care less! I'm going to slam them every chance I get, on every website, and get the word out! DON'T BOOK WITH THEM EVER!
Dear Aimee, Thank you for sharing your feedback.
We are truly sorry for the inconvenience you had to face. I was not able to locate the details of your reservation using your name. Can you please kindly share it, so we will do our best to resolve the situation ASAP.
Looking forward to hearing from you. Kind Regards, Yulia
Found a better deal for the same hotel and dates - when I called Cancelon, the agent said they would honor a PRICE MATCH if I sent the screen shots of the other website difference of over $300 but I keep getting a run around from them saying that the cancellation policy is different - which has nothing to do with the PRICE! Please help - they sent me an email saying they would refund me $50. Terrible company to deal with - they do not follow thru on their "Price Match" at all.
After just one email, Cancelon support team assisted me in cancelling a non-refundable room after I made an error in my booking. Thanks for your help guys!
Cancelled a reservation two weeks ahead of time and they still demanded a cancel fee. Seems unnecessary to charge $50 fee for something that was prepaid.
Ridiculous.
Dear Cassie, we are sad to hear things did not go as expected. We would like to inform you that the charges we take as cancellation fee is the amount we have to pay to the hotel on the very first minute to reserve your room until your arrival and you have accepted that Cancellation policy before confirming your booking with us. Kindly accept our sincere apologies for the inconvenience caused. Please do not hesitate to contact us for any assistance here: https://www.cancelon.com/contact. Kind Regards, Antonio
Booked a room a month in advance, for a room at the Langham Pasadena for October 25, for 2 nights. Made the reservation and paid with credit card. Then tonight - the night before the reservation - after 8 pm - I received an email that the hotel canceled my reservation. Cancelon said it wasn't their fault - that the hotel canceled it. Then I got a phone call that the hotel canceled my reservation. That is wasn't Cancelon's fault, but the hotel's. They offered to put me at another hotel that is a lot less expensive, with no offer to refund the difference. Now it's less than 24 hours until I need to check in and all hotels are 3x the cost.

These people are unbelievably incompetent. They sent me a confirmation email for a hotel room that I prepaid for, only for me to arrive at the hotel and the clerk tell me they didn't have a reservation for me. Cancelon booked me at the wrong (but cheaper, and crappier) hotel, 12 miles away, and they wanted me to drive across town because they messed up. It took them 2 hours of me waiting in the hotel lobby from 9-11 PM with my baby and wife to get a room. They offered me a 30% discount. I called after my trip and they told me that offer is "no longer valid." DO NOT BOOK WITH THESE PEOPLE.
Dear Caleb, we apologize for the inconvenience you caused with your reservation at the hotel. We would like to remind you that as per our final conversation, you denied 30% discount with an alternate hotel and wanted us to book an original hotel for you. Please note we already compensated for the error by making a direct booking for you at a higher price of which you were also aware and do not hesitate to contact us for any assistance here: https://www.cancelon.com/contact. Kind regards, Antonio
I made a booking, I thought through "Trip advisor" to find it was booked through https://www.cancelon.com. What I thought was the rate and booking I set up with Trip Advisor was 2 rooms with 2 adults each. The confirmation from CancelOn showed 2 rooms 2 adults. When I immediately called CancelOn for clairification I was told 1 adults only per room. To add two more adults to the reservation resulted in close to doubling the cost advertized with Trip Advisor, To cancel at that time would result in a $220.00 fee. Absolutely ridiculous, After some discussion with the nice representive and his discussion with his supervisor, the fee was reduced to $110. This is still too much for a 15 minute transaction that was deceiving from the beginning. I would advise people to avoid offers from Trip Advisor and do not allow CancelOn to make the bookings.

This company is one big Fruad please be carful and STAY AWAY. So I booked 2 rooms at the Ritz Carlton in Santiago. 3 days later I get an email saying one of the rooms was canceled do a mistake they made. I call up to cancel the second room the one my kids were supposed to stay in and some indian call representative says that the second room in unrefundable. They breeched my contract and I am going to sue this company in civil court. So if you are a nice family looking for a vacation use booking.com or hotels.com these guys are scum of the earth.
Active duty military here. My family was trying to evacuate for Hurricane Florence and my husband sadly used Trivago, who used Cancelon, to book a hotel. The roads were too bad to leave so we are staying in base shelter so we cancelled the reservation. The hotel had no idea who we were, no record of us ever having a room. Called Cancelon and they claim we never called and cancelled, and that we were not getting a refund. I was talked down to and yelled at by a SUPERVISOR. Avoid and beware, I will be sharing this experience EVERYWHERE and getting my chain of command involved for this outright THEFT!

I booked 2 rooms with Cancelon, they are completely available to answer any question via chat and email responded with in an hour, I had my hotel confirmations with Westgate Flamingo Bay resort in 3 days as promised by Cancelon
Our refund/cancellation period had passed, but due to a medical emergency we could not go on our trip. It took over 2 weeks and a few emails/social media posts, but CancelOn did refund our money.
Dear Steve, Thank you for your feedback and for your patience in allowing us to resolve this.

I paid for a rather expensive hotel stay. After the cancellation grace period, my husband had an emergency appendectomy and we had to cancel our trip. I provided Cancelon with documentation of his surgery and their response was that they will be in touch in 2 weeks with a final determination of refund. We'll see how it goes. If I get a refund, my rating will go up to 5 stars. (Booking Number 460625)
WISH I COULD LEAVE 0 STARS.
THE SALES PRACTICES OF THIS COMPANY ARE HORRENDOUS AND MANIPULATIVE.
I BOOKED A ROOM LAST WEEK- THE ROOM WRITE UP
MAXIMUM ROOM OCCUPANCY 1

AFTER MAKING THE BOOKING MY CONFIRMATION CAME THROUGH STATING THAT I AM IN AN 8 PERSON MIXED DORM.
AFTER A LOT OF BACK AND FORTH THEY ARE REFUSING TO PROVIDE A REFUND STANDING FIRMLY BEHIND THEIR NO CANCELATION POLICY!
IMAGINE BOOKING THAT PERFECT SUNNY GETAWAY WITH YOUR BETTER HALF TO BE TOLD THAT YOUR SHARING WITH 7 OTHER PEOPLE.
IMAGINE THE FRUSTRATION AT BEING TOLD BY VARIOUS CUSTOMER SUPPORT AGENCIES THAT THEY HAVE A FIRM NO CANCELATION POLICY.
IMAGINE GETTING READY FOR A PEACEFUL OASIS TO BE TOLD YOU'LL BE SLUNG IN WITH 6 OTHER BACKPACKERS.
WELL PLEASE PLEASE THINK AGAIN BEFORE USING CANCELON... THEY'LL RUIN YOUR VACATION!
This company is complete TRASH!
Got an email THE DAY BEFORE our trip, saying our hotel was overbooked, and they would find an alternative - all "alternatives" were also booked solid.
Called the hotel we were supposed to stay at, they said it was CANCELON who cancelled the room on THEIR END, when the hotel HAD US in their system! CANCELON sold our room to a higher bidder, right from under me!
RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN! DO NOT USE CANCELON!
No problem so far. Hoping and praying all continues to go well. I expect good honest service and accommodations. So I am believing this is just what I will receive.
My stay is a few months away.
