I got a Nook for Christmas and have really enjoyed it. I have already downloaded several books. It is lightning fast and has been problem free. The Barnes & Nobles site is a little hard to navigate. It takes me a while each time to remember how to navigate their site. This may be more of a reflection on me, than Barnes & Nobles but it is worth mentioning. They also send out lots of emails. I am not a fan of stores I have ordered from sending unsolicited emails and I rarely read them. I placed my order on 6/19/2011. I had an emergency, so aftee midnight i waned to cancel my order. I got a response the next evening, saying they couldn't cancel my order because it was already shipped. There is no delivery on sunday, and i still had the option to cancel. They lied to me, and switched my account around. I have proof of our correspondance - when they decided to email me back.my bank is disputing this problem. I also contacted the better business beauru, federal trade center, and internet crime complaint center ( ic3.) i wish i coud take these people to court. This is not a respectable website like people say it is. Thank you.
My husband bought me a 50 dollar gift certificate from Barnes and Noble online, instead of asking for a gift certificate which would come in the mail after Christmas, he agreed to the digital version. GUESS WHAT! Still no gift certificate. He needs to get on their tail, again, to get this taken care of... I have 2 readers a Nook and a Kindle, that is to say I read a lot. I am disabled and spend a lot of time in bed due to a failed back surgery. THIS REALLY LOWERS MY OPINION OF B&N AND THEIR CREDIBILITY IN MY BOOK!
I go to B & N three times a week, and have for years, the staff is great, and very helpful, I love the cafe, the manager is fantastic and she trains her staff well, never a disappointment, I give them a five star rating, best in town of Fayetteville Nc,

I repeatedly tried to purchase an item through Barnes and Noble website but, each time I got to the checkout, it cleared the cart before I could make the purchase and it would force me to sign in repeatedly.
I closed out and tried again and again... until out of frustration, I gave up and called the local B/N, to see if I could buy it over the phone. The woman there tried to help but cautioned me that the item would cost more this way as they could not match their own online price... bad.
So I then called the toll free number and after waiting for over 15 min. The person there was able to complete the transaction.
I did ask to speak to a supervisor about the experience on the site but he put me on hold for over 10 mi. Before coming back to give me the bad news that I would have to wait an additional 30 minutes before speaking with a supervisor. Are there that many complaints that a supervisor can't be found for that long? Really.
I am on hold as I write this... now more than 40min... and am very unhappy with the way B/N treats their customers.
I want to hang in there to at least give them my feedback but it is now nearly an hour on hold so I'm giving up.
As soon as I spend the last of this gift card I will be done shopping at B/N for good.
I ordered some books online because the website stated that they would be delivered by June 7th, but when I checked the order, it stated that the books would not arrive until September 27th. I asked for a refund because the website was misleading and I didn't want to wait until September to get my books, but they told me that I would have to wait until September to get a refund.
After placing an order for several books online with this company I even paid for express shipping to get them in 2-3 business day or what I thought which will not be til 9-10 days the shipping was out of this world and I still don't have the books when needing them for an event! So disappointed and when I talked to them the several times and ways I did they were of absolutely no help! The Barnes and Noble company kept blaming the marketplace seller and If I contact the seller they blame Barnes and Noble! What a catch 22! Don't do business with BARNES AND NOBLE AGAIN!
I love the amount of reviews of books. I like the suggestions they make based on your input. Having the ability to get used books from this site also it convenient.
I've had a Nook since the first generation. I love Barnes and Noble. It's a great company and I love that I can have equally quality experiences between their physical stores and their online store.
I placed an order for several books and received them very quickly. One of the books was found to be out of stock after I placed my order, and they promptly refunded me for it.

Ordered $5 item and charged $15 shipping. Deal killer. Site is designed to prevent cancellation of mistaken orders. Very much below my standards for e-shopping.
I ordered 2 books from the Barnes and Noble book store in New York on Thursday, and both books arrived at my house in Tennessee on Monday. Very pleased with their service.
Barne and noble booksellers employs managers and security simpy based upon appearence decriminary practices upon the poor. With creating outright lies.
Don't preorder books from B&N. Their system is terrible: if you preorder multiple books that will charge you right away for them (they are preorders aka shouldn't be charged until they are published) and this charge will stay on your card for 7 days. Then it will finally come off. However when it is time to charge for one of the preorders they will charge you for the whole amount; I'm talking about not the $15 for the preorder book but the WHOLE amount of the order. On top of that charge they will then charge you for the $15 for the book. The $15 charge will go through but the whole amount charge sits on your card for 7 days. According to their customer service, who are rude and very unhelpful, this is just the common practice. It is not! Any other online book store (like Waterstones or Amazon) will not charge you till the preorder comes up and then they only charge you for the preorder because that is the book being published. I don't know who runs you system B&N but it stinks and you guys need to fix yourselves. And if it could get any better this happens each time a preorder comes out; you will be charged for the whole amount of the order yet again and it will again be held in your account for 7 days! Is this crazy?!? YES, IT IS! I hope that this helps someone because I wish that I had realized this ahead of time. I have now cancelled all of my orders and will either shop indie or from Waterstones. Fix yourselves Barnes & Nobles, stop doing book lovers dirty!

I prefer BarnesAndNoble over Amazon and all of my experiences with BarnesAndNoble have been pretty good! Definitely have a great search engine, prices, and of course their reviews are helpful too.
