I've ordered multiple Claymore manga for my girlfriend and so far 3 of them have had pages ripped in half. I ordered myself the Claymore box set and just got to volume 17 which has 2 pages ripped out so I decided to buy another Volume 17 to replace it and now that package says it delivered 2 days ago but it hasn't and they're not responding to any emails about the situation. Don't buy here. Go to books a million instead.
BN used to be a reputable easy book ordering company to work with. I've had a gift card and have ordered a few books recently and the delivery time is awful with no updates on their website. I paid for expedited shipping and still am waiting for my order 3 days after it was promised. I would never order anything from them again and it makes sense to just go to Amazon who at least values its customers. BN has closed most of its brick and mortar stores and should do the same with its online retail.
My order did not pass "order verification" process. It was a purchase of an e-gift certificate being delivered via email. Attempts to find out why the order did not "pass" was unsuccessful. I was cut off three times and held for 26 minutes and 20 seconds. Perhaps Books-A-Million will accept my money.
Ordered a book on 8/25/23, needing it on September 5 for my college course. Expected arrival date is September 5. Got an email there has been a delay till September 12 due to stock inventory. How are you awaiting on stock inventory if its listed on your site and given an estimated arrival date? Called customer service and could not help/cancel order on their end.
Ordered collectable Barbie 'Gloria' doll. Package was "stuffed" into an incorrect size shipping box crushing the package completely all the way around Customer Service was of no help. Terrible experience.
I ordered 3 books from them 2 were delivered after week and half. I was at the post office lost for 2 weeks before they would do anything. Book I ordered was at the local store but they refused to let me pick it up. I could get a refund "which would take 10 business days to get to me" or reorder and they would "expedite shipping". They reshipped on Friday and I was told I'd get it Monday. Now it's Monday and according to tracking it's in Tennessee. Their excuse now is the lady told me the wrong day. It should be there Tuesday because they sent it 2 day shipping. It's now been over a month since ordering and nothing. They are thieves and liars. $50 missing. Amazon will refund you in minutes if a package is lost.
I ordered 2 school-books for college, checked status of delivery yesterday, and it shows them arriving today. I received one today and when I checked, they sent me a refund for the other book. School starts in a few days. They didn't even notify me. Very unhappy with this lack of consideration
I worked at B&N for around three months at 16. They not only didn't train me, but they overscheduled me and the rolloff rate was ridiculous. Most people I had met left within my first month of working there. During winter break, I got Christmas and the day after my parents' anniversary off, and the rest of the days I was working. I even worked the day I went back to school in January. I worked a total of 72 hours over that break, and they just barely scheduled me under overtime pay; keep in mind that I was a part-time worker who was in junior year. The manager and second manager were both extremely passive aggressive. It was a hostile environment within the cafe because of how many people expected to use their points with Starbucks; it was basically false advertising in a cramped, busy mall that overloaded anyone working there. Please, please do not work here.
My Nook library was not showing books I'd ordered so I contacted their tech department. They said my email had changed but it never has. They had me re-register the device which eliminated all of my books. When I asked them to resend them - they'd sold them to me and of course have the sales records - they said I had to tell them the other email address. But I'd never had a different one. The Nook went into the trash. Never again.
Id give them a negative 100 if they had one! Worst company in a company history to work for! They dont
Give one iota of care to their employees! They lie and manipulate to get what they want! The bosses are
Dispicable!
Customer service is the lack of the word. If you are employed with this company do yourself a favor ad be prepared for your role. Atop making customers feel as though they must understand your role or position. It is a choice to work at this company when and if you feel like you don't want to do it anymore just leave instead of disrespecting the customer. Most of you work from home which makes it much easier. Stop looking for the customers to understand your role instead really take the role of customer service the heart's key word is "customer" and the service you must provide. If, not going to do that then do the company a favor and an injustice by relocating your emolument opttunites. Customers do not deserve the backlash.
Normally I would buy books online however I got tired of receiving them damaged. Bent corners, etc due to cheap plastic shipping wrap.
So I bought a book from Barnes and Noble.
New. Drop the money, get new with no issues.
I drive 110 round trip miles, plus $4.15 a gallon.
Book came in damaged.
"We can help shipping" I'm told.
Bummer.
I got 20% off but who cares, corners still look like they were chewed off.
Oh well, back to Ebay I guess.
Bought 4 items, only received 3. Last on lost in transit. Now won't arrive until Dec 27….after the holiday. Original order placed in plenty, more than plenty, of time. Got put on hold endlessly and even disconnected. Takes help from the power above, to get to a supervisor. NEVER AGAIN. Get your customer service to be CUSTOMER service. It is all going back. Amazon will be my source for books now. So disrespectful.
Barnes and noble has the absolute worst system for tracking product inventory and managing customers' accounts. I have experienced the absolute worst customer service and support from any retailer large or small with B&N. I hope other retailers put them out of business, not because I am dissatisfied with their service but because I do not believe they deserve market share. They need an absolute overhaul to maintain competitiveness. I will not be spending any money there and I will discourage others from doing so either.
I ordered 2 BOOKS, just 2 simple novels from Barnes and Noble days ago. STILL NOT PROCESSED, and definitely not shipped. I've reached out to 'customer service' (which is anything but) several times, but to no avail. All they can say is "it's up to the warehouse and they take 7 days to process. Your order can take 3w to be shipped". WHAT?! For 2 BOOKS. I checked and Amazon has the books in stock and would deliver in 2 days. I will NEVER order with BN again. No sort kf customer service at all, then when they close down, they'll look surprised.
Sent a damaged vinyl LP. Attempt to return for replace/refund is a total disaster. Extremely poor or no communication, less than helpful personnel, unclear/incomplete directions. Just pray they get your order right.
Barnes & Noble has every book that would make a reader out of yourself. With their membership benefits I enjoy free shipping on the books I buy plus discounts. I can even rent textbooks for my college courses.
Although I try to frequent local independent bookstores... B and N. Com just makes it too darn easy to shop in quantity. For people who are dedicated bookworms there are always a hundred more titles you want... if not more. This site lets you maintain your wish lists and has out of print books available through their own vendors. Being a member gives you a savings card that is really worth the few dollars a year to renew it. Maybe twice in ten years has there been a title they didn't have. They also have a decent return policy. Even without a receipt you can at least get store credit in most cases. One year for my B-day I got three copies of the same book. In store they gave me credit for two. They also send coupons by mail a few times a year. All around great shopping experience.
Besides mom and pop specialty bookstores, Barnes and Noble are the best thing going when you need a book immediately. Although pricier compared to Amazon, the B&N membership softens that blow, along with having a good stock of books on hand. The children section in my store is far from the beaten path, and they have a nice section where they can read and play while the adult shoppers are never hassled. There's also scheduled reading events for children and more so during the holidays. Most B&N stores have Starbucks inside, who also honour the membership discount. The workers at mine are also friendly, so 5 stars
I've been a member for over a decade and the quality has hit rock bottom. I can't even order online anymore or get competent customer service! I have spent hundreds and they don't care! Was treated like trash! I hope they go under; they are that HORRIBLE! Avoid at all costs! Here's your sign!
