On 8/25 I placed an order for 23 books totaling $319.84 planning to use gift cards. No where in the order form was I offered the opportunity to input the gift card info. I called "customer service" to complain that B&N would charge my credit card that they insisted I provide to complete the order. The agent took the gift card info and said the purchase was paid for. On 8/27, I find that B&N charged my AMEX card anyway. I called "customer service" again, had to provide the gift card information AGAIN. I have removed my card info from their site. This is not the first time I've had to go through the same rigmarole with them. It's like they don't want to honor their gift cards. I order a lot of books, but I hate having to deal with indifference and incompetence. It does not get any better. Total time spent on the phone: 2+ hours. Re order #*******710.
It seems as though Barnes and Noble is giving chewy.com competition for a run to the bottom when it comes to customer service. I don't have a problem with something being delivered later than the first, second, third, eighth update. What I do have a problem with is being strung along, day to day, for 10 days. I stay home to wait for my shipments. Porch piracy is a real thing. So, Barnes and Noble, doing me that way for 10 days, was wrong. I wonder, does Barnes and Noble hold stock in ‘porch piracy for hire'? When I wanted to pick up my order in a brick and mortar Barnes and Noble store, twice, I was told no, but no one could tell me why.
I used to shop here on a very frequent basis, spending upwards of 200 a month on books. Recently I was on their website looking for gifts for Father's Day for my husband and found that they have pulled law enforcement and martial arts books. It seems to me that this company have become bigots and are showing their lack of support for the men and women of law enforcement who put their lives on the line in the service of others. Very poor form indeed. This company has become part of the problem not the solution. My voice may only be one but it's loud and I will be posting this on every social media platform I'm on as well as the multiple law enforcement wives pages I belong to. The word will get out. Bigots make me sick!
Because there is a store near me, I stop in quite often to check their sales. I have a membership card which earns discounts on purchases. While this is technically a book store, they also sell a variety of other products. I have purchased stationery, pens, calendars, candles and other items. Good quality. A bit pricey; wait for the sales and use the member discounts.
I ordered a book required for a university course on sept 16. Expected delivery date is sept 28. I paid express delivery. Being shipped from USA to Canada the length Is to be expected. However, I checked on status days after the order since they say, it will be shipped 24 to 48 hrs after order. It is now Sept 30 No Book, not even a tracking number. I called them at least 7 or 8 times trying to get the book shipped. Now they say wait to Oct 5 to see if I get a tracking number. Their warehouse does not seem to know how to do their job. They should hire a warehouse manager from Amazon to show them how to do things. I need this book but I am not optimistic about it. Customer service makes up more excuses.
Than Carter has Liver Pills.
I ordered a book (Order No: *******) March 24,2022. For 2 weeks tracing provided me with no information, just that the tracing number provided was "... invalid". It is now April 14, and all the information I got was "... sorted by US carrier"! How long does it take to ship a small package?
This company values their customers about as much as our society values cockroaches, even ones who spend around $1,500- 2,000 per year between two location for about the last 20 years! The person I spoke to in the home office cared even less than in the store I hope, for their sake, they can afford to treat loyal customers like they do and stay in business.
Still the best bookstore in metro Phoenix! The staff is knowledgeable and helpful. They go out of their way to make sure you find everything you are looking for and that is an asset in today's retail climate.
They always ship faster than expected. I have never had a problem with a return or an item purchased. Definitely my go-to place for books and related materials. I order from them all the time, and will go so far as to look up someone's wishlist on another site and order from Barnes & Nobel instead.
I have bought hundreds of books and use to love your store, nowbefore I walk in, two giant posters are on front windows of Obama? He gave us a terrible recession, my health deductible went from 2500$ to 6500$! As a long haul truck driver, I went to so many large businesses, that closed to go out of the us, look at revlon. All the women I visited, as they loaded my trailer lost their jobs to nafta, only one book about Trump was near front, unflattering, what's going on, looking for another book store, so sad.
When I wasn't a member, I rarely went to B&N. Now that I am, I do enjoy the coupons and added benefits of membership. The $25 for membership makes buying books and other items worth it. I've more than recouped that cost. Of course, I'm an English professor and my kids love books, so we have a book fetish. Love the selection, the coffee, the bright openness of the lay out. Sometimes we just sit down and start reading. Can spend a couple hours in there and not notice the time has flown by. =) OH, and the clearance prices are great too.
The store on State st. In Chicago is a great place to brows, shop, and read. I never had a negative experience. Selection is OK and if they don't have something in stock, they really "bust their bun's" to get it to you asap.
I paid expedited $15.48 shipping for "item arrives in 2-3 days" description. What they don't mention there, it's 2-3 days AFTER SHIPPING, not after ordering. Takes them about a week from ordering day to shipping. Don't waist your money folks. I'm surprised Barnes does this. I thought they are more honest. They didn't refund the shipping cost of course. Stinky customer service…. Eewwwww…. I hope you get really really reach with that $15.48 in your pocket.
Love this site!-They have a great selection and seem to always be running a promotion. I also signed up for the two month free trial membership and recieved free express shipping with this company. I have ordered books and DVD's from Barnes and Noble. They inform you of when your order ships and with express shipping it usually arrives within a few short days. Be aware that shipping can take longer if the item isn't available but they will tell you this upon ordering. Membership after the two free months is $25 annually if you choose to remain in the club.
I had first and hopefully the last experience with Barnes&Nobles! You would think they incentivize the reading in 21st century when people tend to read less but they DO NOT. First of all, they don't have an exchange option, you have to return the item first, which will take more than 5 business days, then you should wait until you get a refund (another 3-4 days), only after that you can place a new order and wait 3-5 days. So, overall it may take a month! Then you are responsible for shipping! I bought 3 books and paid around 40$, but I wanted to exchange two (totalling in 21$) in another book but I paid 11.10$ for shipping, so I just lost the money. They don't care about the customer's needs and discourage the reading which is sad at least.
95th street Overland Park, KS really sucks! There is no special line for web orders. You have to do the same line with everybody else. When you finally get to the counter they are so negative and unwilling to help. Avoid this place!
Bought a text book through Barnes & Noble. Estimated it to be delivered within 2 weeks. Never got any updates from them and when I called customer service they said it was just sitting at the warehouse. Should never have bought anything from them. They have the worst service and shipping times.
I love being able to go in and actually sit down to peruse a book before buying it. This lets me know if I truly want to add it to my collection, which I usually do. The prices are a little high, though, so I don't go too often.
3hrs on line to order some blu rays on sale. Edit cart function didn't work. Chat help said log out log back in. No change. Use a different browser. No change. Log out log back in no change. Log out, empty browser cache, log back in. Message to remove pre-order items from cart since not in stock - but that was what I was ordering all along! Last year they delivered one item in my mail order so I could pick it up in person - at a store an hour drive each way. This is the worst on-line operation with which I have ever dealt.
Purchased two audio books by gift card. One became corrupted a week after started listening. I attempted to troubleshoot at the direction of customer service without success. I was then told that I would need to enter credit card information to continue to access the book. No further assistance was provided.
