Like someone else posted, I ordered boots in *September*. I got an apology for the delay and a promise of 10% refund *after I receive them and keep them*, but without any updated shipping information. It's been two weeks since then and no boots. I have asked for a refund. I have not heard back yet. I didn't expect the quality to be great but it's been nearly two months now. I have to wonder if they are another variant of a retailer I see advertising on FB where the dress is clearly from another (reputable) vendor and not their own, and they are also falsely advertising boots from an Etsy retailer. As in, they don't really have the boots they claimed. Skip this one. The prices are not at all worth the aggravation.

I have always been pleased with ThinkGeek's products, shipping and customer service. They have a lot of FUN things and their shirt quality is good. I have a couple of shirts that still fit and look great after years of wear. I always look here when I'm looking for a unique but quality gift.

I haven't bought anything of FYE.com, I admit. But I did have the unfortunate experience of buying something in the store and somehow got signed up for their VIP program. $11.99 every month (sometimes two charges in one month). My stupidity for not noticing sooner, but if you bought anything from FYE, you should take a look at your credit card statement. They corporate cancellation number is *******131 and I'm told I need to send a FAX to *******115. Really ticked off that they aren't honest about this program. I think the cashier signed me up without permission and now I need to go back and deal with it. When I tried to cancel my membership, the woman tried to sell me on keeping it. I was so angry. DO NOT BUY FROM FYE!

Sometimes I wish there was a little more in some of the options, but overall they the baskets and towers are of a quality I can send as a gift and not be embarrassed about. I sent my stepdaughter cookies that she loved - she is a baker and knows a good cookie. When I realized I had an error in the address, they quickly responded and corrected it. Very reasonable prices overall.

Everything I have ordered has been correct, good quality, and on-time. I frequently order frames for special events in our extended family and being able to tweak it just right for that recipient has come in very handy. Very happy with them.

They did well on the business cards, but when I ordered my daughter's birth announcements, the first set was cut wrong and the color was completely off. They did reprint them, but they were still a little uneven, though the color was better. It also took additional time so by the time I finally received them to mail them out, my newborn was almost 2 months old. Not real impressed overall on their "non business" products. Would not order from them again for invites or announcements.

Love their return policy - I have hard to fit feet and cannot buy online without being able to try them on and return what doesn't fit. They also often carry my size so that I don't have to stare forlornly at the empty spot for my size in the store. Never had a problem with returns or purchase or shipping. And they're fast, too! Awesome customer service.

  • Mabel’s Labels

11/11/12

Mabels Labels is not your iron on labels for gym class experience. I found them when looking for labels for my then-infant daughter's gear for daycare and have been hooked ever since. Their customer service is top notch - my child has an unusual name and they offered to reprint for free when the spacing was not as I expected (I ended up keeping them, but appreciated the offer). Their quality is excellent. They are a Canadian company but I have never had any problems shipping to the US. Everyone I have sent labels to as gifts has liked them. I have labels on my daughter's cups that have been through countless trips through the dishwasher and are still looking great. The tag mates can peel off if you are persistent enough but won't come off easily in the wash and look better/last longer than sharpie. I put Mabel on my own gear, sent my stepdaughter to college with labels, we put them on family camping gear. Very very happy with their products.

I've ordered several shirts from them and my stepdaughter recently created a shirt for her dad. The text is good and the quality of shirts is OK, but the images she used are faded. She also ordered 2 large binders for school in the past. The image quality was blurry (and some were really crisp photos when printed on other media) and the binders fell apart. So if you're looking for a gift beyond shirts, you might want to check out another site, or be aware that each item type does impact the result.

  • FreshBooks

I'm a freelancer and FreshBooks was suggested to me by one of my clients. I've loved it ever since. I can't believe what you get for free! If I had known about them on past projects, they would have made a huge difference in managing those projects. Their customer service is responsive and friendly. Highly recommend them.

  • Hire My Mom

I tried a few sites to find freelance work and this one was well worth the membership. The only reason I no longer have a membership is because I have plenty of work and a long-term gig. Their customer service is also top notch and when they find out that something was misrepresented, they act immediately. I highly recommend them to any mom looking for freelance projects.

I just wanted to update that another friend of mine got a long-term virtual assistant job through a posting on HireMyMom. My long-term gig lasted 4.5 years. I'm so grateful for HireMyMom for helping me find that opportunity. HIGHLY recommend them!

I checked them out on the recommendation of a freelancer friend, but found that most of the jobs were lowballed and it seemed flooded with people willing to work for pittance. I quickly removed my profile and went looking somewhere else for freelance projects. They have features that drew me to them, but ultimately could not deliver work.

  • Barnes & Noble

11/11/12

They always ship faster than expected. I have never had a problem with a return or an item purchased. Definitely my go-to place for books and related materials. I order from them all the time, and will go so far as to look up someone's wishlist on another site and order from Barnes & Nobel instead.

  • Woot!

11/11/12

I've been pleased with Woot.com. There was one time where I ordered a tea pitcher that was a little smaller than I expected, but it turns out it fits really well in a dorm fridge. Everything has arrived in good shape and I even bought the computer I'm typing on through Woot! I'd give them 5 stars if their shirt designs were available for a longer duration.

  • Bidz

Well, right now I'm waiting on snowboots and kid shoes that I ordered on the 16th of October that were supposed to be shipped on the 6th of November. I was fine with a wait because 1. That's how you get sales and 2. They said that Hurricane Sandy shut down their customer service. But now it's the 11th and while someone is busily updating the site for Christmas, nobody has access to even email for customer concerns? No update or note on the site about delayed shipping? So you can update your site, but can't update the people whose orders you took/are taking? At this rate, I will end up giving the boots and shoes away because either the season will have passed or my daughter will have outgrown them!

I see other complaints here about customer service not responding and taking three weeks to ship, so I'm not even sure it's about the weather.

This was my first order and I passed up boots for my daughter from Zulily at the same time (my Zulily order (minus boots) arrived ahead of schedule, BTW). I so regret that. I will NOT recommend Totsy to anybody and will be shutting down my account once this is resolved. I'm glad I am not out more than $24 if it never comes. Some deals are not worth the aggravation. Lesson learned.

Oh, and to add to the annoyance, the site continually asks me for validation, but then the field removes the. S in my email address so it's wrong and won't let me in. I have to get in through a link in one of my emails to check the non-status of my order.

  • Zulily

I've made several purchases through Zulily. Everything has been as advertised and arrived on time if not sooner. I've been very happy with them.

Edit to add: I'm still a happy customer several years later. Please bear in mind that you need to wait for the sale to end before anything gets shipped, so if you need items faster, try shopping only the sales ending that day. The ONLY time I had an issue with an item not being available after purchase, they not only didn't charge me for the coat, they gave me store credit as an apology. I have no problems with Zulily.

Edit again since I see one newer review about Christmas. If you need Christmas delivery, order in October or November and look for the package icon. Watch shipping dates. They guarantee only some items (with the package icon) for Christmas. You do need to be aware that they do wait for things and again NOT order like it's Amazon. December 13 is cutting it close for many retailers if they don't offer a quick turnaround. Since my first review, the only items I've been less happy with were a few pairs of slip on shoes for kids in UK sizes and I guessed wrong. The shoes were not expensive and I gifted them to a friend's kid. Still a happy customer in 2015. I order for my nieces and nephews, too, and no one has ever said the quality was poor. If you have a damaged item, try contacting them.
