“I ordered a book and went through customer service.”

Dara J.
7/21/23

I tried to order a book that was recommended by the teacher. When I ordered it I wanted a hard copy and somehow was directed to the E copy. I finally received an email with a phone number and was able to call the number and get customer service, who was very helpful in canceling the e book and reordering a hard copy. I was pleased with their follow up service.

I ordered a booked with them and paid for two day shipping. Received no information on how long it would take, and now I'm still waiting after 3 weeks. Will NEVER order from Wiley again.

Verified purchase

Not beneficial for helping you learn. You only get limited attempts at each problem, and they deduct points for wrong answers without providing an explanation or reasoning behind the correct solution, so it seems like they are trying to punish you rather than teach you something. Other education software like Mcgraw-Hill connect provides step by step solution to each answer, but there's none of that on WileyPLUS. They'll show you the correct result with no explanation of why that answer is the way it is, which is really frustrating when you are trying to learn a topic.
On top of that, the website that is dated and difficult to navigate. By far the worst education software I've ever had the misfortune of using. I would not recommend WileyPLUS to anyone, and it is definitely not worth the $100+ that they charge per course.

The same great products that we have come to love over the years! Nothing has changed, and that is a great thing. Why fix something when it is not broke!

Can not sign up for practice tests because the access code fails. The only way to contact customer support is to log in. The only way to log in is to complete the acces code process which keeps failing. The catch 22 is completely infuriating at a time when i need to focus on studying i have spent an hour on a failed login process.

I purchased an ebook and they said I had to get the Bookshelf app. I would not have purchased it had I known this. But OK, I didn't click on the little question mark which stated this, so buyer beware and "No Refunds." Anyway, the email instructions said to download the app which I did, and to create an account, put in your redemption code the book will be available. However, the app only offers the ability to sign in and does not offer the ability to sign up. So I have been waiting for way too long for the chat on the Bookshelf site, and it finally gave me a message that they are busy and to send an email instead. Too bad I can't read the book I just paid $71.00 for. Thank's Wiley. I'm sure the hackers can get at these, but you are preventing your paying customers (or former customers in my case) from obtaining the book they paid for. Good Job! Whey I tried to go to Wiley's support page, it says to log in, but when I do, it says I am already logged in. Again, it gives no other options so you are in a loop.

Tip for consumers:
Their website is a joke! I'm sure they sell books that describe how to make a website that actually works, but apparently they never bothered to read them.

Products used:
Automotive Handbook, 11th Edition. Previous editions were widely available, but for the 11th edition, Wiley got an exclusive. Otherwise I would not put myself through all this.

I tried purchasing a book online, they didn't have correct course associated with the instructor. I finally found my book and paid to have online access and loose leaf. I was able to access the book on day 1 but from there it wouldn't load. I tried everything from clearing cache and cookies to software updates. I tried on 2 different computers with different operating systems. The when I tried to navigate the student resources, I had to update my password with each attempt as it didn't remember it. I contacted my instructor and got no feedback. I tried to reach out to the community and I see several questions but no answers. I created a claim but have not heard back from Wiley. This is extremely disappointing after spending $165 and so far 2 days of wasted time. The online version sounded promising with the ability to read, listen, highlife, etc. but only in theory apparently. Purchase elsewhere if you can.

Tip for consumers:
Dealing with this company has been stressful and frustrating. I could have purchased it off Amazon for $40 cheaper but opted out so I can have the online version as well but here we are, no online version after all...

Products used:
Understanding Financial accounting 3rd edition online version and loose leaf. I have not received the hard copy and cannot access online version.

Popular literature publisher. However, Wiley is a low-grade, low-quality source of multiple medical journals. Though many of their journals claim to be "peer-reviewed," they openly allow studies to be published for products that have been sponsored by the very manufacturers of the product being studied. According to Yale, "Studies sponsored by industry were 3.6 times more likely to have conclusions favorable to industry than studies without that support."[1]

Wiley contributes to the scientific industry's dangerous "Replication Crisis," a human-harmful result of studies performed in unprofessional manners [2], such as by hosting papers written by corrupt authors sponsored to give good results by manufacturers. The Replication Crisis has resulted in nearly 40% of scientific studies being non-reproducible a second time. You can see one example of Wiley publishing a corrupt study sponsored by the manufacturer here: [3]

Based on the evidence, Wiley is not a quality source of scientific publishing data, and its published studies should be scrutinized for the elements of unprofessionalism, such as corrupt funding, present in its content, that make it clear that actual scientific results are not strived for. 2 out of 5.

If you hoped to be able to actually download your book and view it without the wiley book viewer, you are going to be disappointed. 10 page printing limit, you have to use their special book downloader. Sucks, I wish i spent the extra $20 and ordered the physical book like it was 1995.
