I looked for a book I read this year, 7 Women, by Eric Metaxas to purchase for Christmas presents for my daughter and daughter-in-law. I found a real bargain at Alibris. Having been dissatisfied with some of Amazon's shipping practices, I called Bookshop Santa Cruz hoping they would have a copy of the Duke Ellington biography I wanted to read. Bookshop no longer had copies of what I was looking for. Their staff member recommended Alibris. When I went to your website, I not only found a copy for sale, but the price was more than reasonable. Receiving delivery of the book was a slow -- and uncertain -- process. I feared that it would be delivered when we would be away from home, making holiday family visits. Alibris's tracking was difficult for me, though I must admit to being inept when it comes to completing even the simplest digital tasks. I wished, in vane, for an 800-number to call with a live attendant who could track the shipment. This narrative has a happy ending: the Ellington bio arrived at our front door two days before our departure.

It was quick and easy even though this is the first time that I've used alibris. Please keep it that way. I'm here because the "other guys" have made the process too complicated. They want too much information or they get information wrong and it's difficult to get the error corrected.
On December 9 I ordered a book for my wife for Christmas. Over a week later, I emailed to check whether it had shipped, as I hadn't received the promised email giving me tracking information. I got an email back telling me the order had indeed shipped on the day I ordered it, but no tracking number had been generated. This was the source of some anxiety, as Christmas approached. Sometime later that day I got an email telling me the order had just shipped and giving me a tracking number. Irritated, I emailed back and asked to cancel the order. But I was told it was too late, as the tracking number had been generated. This despite the fact that when I checked the status, it was awaiting pickup. And I'd been lied to.
In the end, the book arrived the day before we were set to travel for Christmas, December 22. So it worked out, sort of, but would you, dear reader, order from a company like that?
