I spent nearly a month in contact with several customer service associates trying to get answers as to where my package is. I said multiple times that I do not want a refund instead of having them send the items and making sure I get what I ordered. Instead, they blamed me for the package going missing, and said it was delivered and I need to go ask neighbours if they got it. Then, when I finally started to get frustrated and said they needed to make this right by sending the items again, I was issued a refund without anyone consulting or informing me. When I tried to speak with a CSA, she ignored my request to speak to a supervisor and then ended the chat. I called several times and finally got through to someone who tried to tell me over and over that there is nothing that can be done. Finally he agreed to transfer my call to the supervisor who was incredibly rude to me. She was very short with me, did not bother to look into anything, and just said the refund has already been issued so "the problem is solved". When I said no it has not been, as I ordered the items when on sale (as I am a student and can always use any sale prices I can get) and still need the items, she became even more rude and said she won't be helping me at all. I was told that I am "going in circles" about the issue, even though I was just asking questions about why this happened. When I told her I had screenshots of every chat and email from amazon associates, she went very quiet and quickly told me that if I had no other issues, she was going to hang up. In the middle of me saying "wait", she hung up the call. I got 0 support from her, or many of the CSA. I am very upset a the whole situation! Now I am just hoping they actually send me the refund, and I will no longer be ordering from Amazon. I could not believe the attitude and lack of consideration for someone who has ordered several things over the last many years. So much for "valued customer" :(

Amazon.ca is dominated by 3rd party sellers, they take no responsibility for. Besides often experiencing really long shipping times, Amazon fails to tell its members on these 3rd party listings that should an item need to be returned the buyer must pay the return shipping which is often as much or more then the item purchased. Being a prime member I'd expect quick shipping times and not to have to pay to return an item. We're also finding that everything such as prime video which used to be completely free is now charging for almost everything, we purchased Amazon's Blink Security Camera's only to be told after a year we now need to pay a subscription or they are rendered useless. Amazon has become a greedy sub par online retail service, sad because they were great in the beginning. I'm finding that many other online platforms offer the same products at a much lower cost. Contacting Amazon.ca direct via telephone due to an issue has become futile, the customer service is so poor, those answering calls often are difficult to understand, often have no idea what policies are, often refuse to escalate the issue to a supervisor refusing to do so and hanging up, this has become common place in the last year. Up until 2022 I had very few issues but 2022 has been the worst ever and the attitude is on Amazon's part is one of they don't care. I've literally spent thousands of $ in the last 2 years in particular, that's coming to an end I will do very little from now on with Amazon.ca due to the issues we've experienced, poor quality, defective items mostly d/t 3rd party sellers and now no recourse to return items that are poor quality, defective, damaged in shipping or simply not suitable unless we as a buyer pay expensive shipping fee's. I'm over Amazon's BS and its poor customer service. I cannot recommend them as an online retail platform anymore!

We purchased a LGG5 phone from Amazon in March 2017. The seller is gsmHERO.
The price was $650 cdn. Over the summer, the phone had issues sending/receiving text messages. After spending a few weeks phoning the cell phone provider - Virgin Mobile, LG Canada and LG US, LG US determined that the phone is not compatible with the Canadian market. It is a phone certified for use in Hong Kong. Due to the time taken to determine the cause of the problem, the phone is out of the refund period of 1 month. Amazon have washed their hands of all responsibility and will not provide refund. The seller has admitted that the phone is certified for Hong Kong. Our argument is, what is Amazon Canada doing advertising phones for sale in Canada that are not compatible for Canada? They have left us to deal with this with the seller. When you buy an item from a store, the store is responsible if the item is defective. DO NOT BUY PHONES FROM AMAZON. This dispute is now being followed up legally.

Tried several times with Amazon. They have appalling customer service. I would recommend to all not to buy such items from Amazon. Buy from a retailer directly as you will have more comeback if needed.

AMAZON BUYERS be CAUTION, NEVER buy products from AMAZON or refund, AMAZON TRIED TO SEND YOU THE DAMAGED PRODUCTS AND ASSUMING YOU WILL RETURN IT, WHEN YOU RETURNING, AMAZON WILL ALWAYS CHARGE YOU RESTOCKING FEE FOR CLAIMING THAT THE PRODUCTS YOU RETURN WAS DAMAGED.

I purchase from Amazon.ca The LG laptop I received was the incorrect descriptions as state on Amazon's website, and I didn't even open it and decided to return and when Amazon received it, and charged me $360 restocking fee for saying that the laptop has seriously damage, that's a LIE, I didn't even run this laptop how can it be damaged, the only reason is Amazon send me the damaged false descriptions laptop and knowing that I will definitely return it and when I send back, Amazon just use the only one reason to everyone who return the electronic "YOUR ARE RETURNING A DAMAGE PRODUCT" tried to ripped OUR MONEY!
I've spend so much time on calling and emailing to all level of Amazon.ca Rep, but either insist or not replying back for my appeal for refunding $360
NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER BUY at AMAZON, AMAZON IS A SUPER SUPER "BLACK-HEARTED PROFITEERS".

Purchased a product from a vendor on Amazon.ca, vendor ended up being a fraudulent company out of China who was shipping defective products and then not issuing refunds. Not only that, but they were instructing unhappy customers to ship (at my cost) the product back to them to an address in Canada, turns out the address was just some random person's house in Scarborough, this poor person has been getting hundred of packaged returned to them, this is their home and they have called the police, on my end I contacted amazon and actually had to argue for a refund, i was told all along the way that I would also get the shipping costs returned, except when I got my refund there was no shipping costs, only the cost of the product, last angry call to amazon I was made to feel as if I was the problem, as if Amazon had done everything according to their "protocol" and that they would be doing me a "favour" if they gave me back the shipping costs, adding insult to injury if I wanted my shipping costs back I was going to have to call Billing Dept and arrange that myself, and of course the customer service department can't transfer me, and oh yeah they only work certain hours. Never in my life had I had such disgusting customer service, and never again will I trust that Amazon is the "secure" shopping site that they claim they are, WOW Amazon... major big fail on the customer service attitude, you did NOT protect me, and you did NOT treat me right when I became the victim of fraud as a result. I WILL NEVER SHOP ON AMAZON AGAIN!

My expectations were not met in both quality of the goods and the service received when buying a Hemoton garden hoe.
As soon as the mailed package arrived, I realised that I had made a mistake. I was expecting a full-size garden hoe but what I had ordered was a small hand tool. My mistake. I didn't even take it out of the package. But I had heard so much about Amazon's amazing return policy that I thought I could put it right. I couldn't. I thought I was buying from Amazon. Turns out I was buying from "an Amazon Seller" named Galayestar in China although the hoe was actually shipped to me from Yuntu Company Limited in Canada. Galayestar would not let me return the hoe. So I reluctantly decided to make the most of things and opened the package to find that my $39 hoe was of a very low quality. The head is loose in the handle. Metal parts are poorly welded and edges have burrs. Wooden parts are rough and poorly made.
I don't know who Galayestar and Yuntu are but it all reflects badly on Amazon.

Someone hacked my computer and ordered a $1,800 mac-book on Amazon to his/her address 1 o'clock in the morning. I contacted Amazon as soon as I found out and told them to stop the transaction. Guess what, they said they could not do anything because the item has been shipped out. The scammer then found out I had reported so he/she dared not to sign for the computer, and the delivery company sent me Emails. I told them to cancel the delivey and return the computer to Amazon. They said they could not, the only people can return the computer is whoever signed for it and then return. WHAT A JOKE! I have been waiting for a week and contacting Amazon several times. Each time the customer service people asked me to wait and said the account specialist would contact me for refunding me the gift card balance. When I ask if I could contact the specialist directly? They said no. I did nothing wrong but now I am more frustrated than the people who hacked to my account. MAKE SURE YOUR SYSTEM IS WORKING SAFE, AMAZON!

Gift card policy
April 15, 2018

I was directed to Amazon by a well known site I wanted to order a kindle book from. By ordering it prior to the release date, I would get all sorts of freebies, including a workshop on its release date. I don't like using my credit card on line, so I purchased an amazon gift card. Unfortunately, amazon does not honour its gift cards on the purchase of pre-order products, but I didn't find this out until I tried to order the product. The company excuse was that a credit card would prove who I am, that's why it was required. Really? An Amazon gift card on account means Amazon has the money, isn't that the idea? Give money, get product. So now Amazon has my $25, but I cannot order my $16 product while it is on pre-release sale and I miss out on the freebies. Amazon.ca - your policy of not accepting gift cards unless a credit card accompanies it, makes me question why you want the credit card because giving a credit card number does not prove my identity.
I called Amazon.ca again to see if I could get help resolving the issue, and was told they need a credit card because they might use it instead of the gift card, even if I choose the payment to be with the gift card, and they said there is no one who can help with this issue. Lesson learned - don't buy Amazon.ca gift cards because Amazon might not honour them.
I emailed the seller of the product about my problem. Several hours later I received 2 emails from 2 different Amazon reps apologizing for the inconvenience while informing me that I cannot use one type of PayPal, but I can use a different type of PayPal. Thanks for the options, but I did not ask about PayPal. The next day the book was released & I was able to use the gift card without a credit card number, despite being told the day before that I would still probably need a credit card. So in the end, I was able to purchase the product with a gift card & no credit card. I just wish it had been easier from the start.

I had place a large order for Christmas gifts where a payment of 167.44 was taking out of my bank for these items then was told there were not enough funds for my order. When calling amazon I was first told the payment had bounced upon calling my bank I found out this payment did not bounce. Call amazon again I was told another story that something had gone wrong in their warehouse and they had canceled my order a couple days prior and the money was going to be refunded. Check amazon order on account it doesn't show that my order had been canceled so I cancel this order. Call amazon again was told that this order that the warehouse never canceled my order like 2nd guy told me on the phone but they had refund my money took a couple days. I then reorder these items on their own instead of in one big order I was then charged twice! For each on of the items. When I call amazon again I'm told there was just a authorization done the first time but only the second payment had come out I clearly state I was charged both on the 7th and the 9th for each one of these items. They then tell me that they did take the money out on the 7th but had canceled it because the order was not ready for shipment then recharged me on the 9th for these same items. I have still not received refund for their mess up on the 7th so it looks like I'm out 200 for over charge on their part. I am so a prime member and will be canceling my member ship and never ordering from amazon again

Customer Service
January 7, 2020

Customer service
Order a turbo oven on Amazon.ca Dec 20 2019 it was shown In Stock, shipped 1-2 days. I wasn't given a delivery day. Dec 23rd got in touch with Amazon.ca customer rep., told me they do have in stock and is putting the item together (?) I will be getting an email in 48hrs. Nothing, I waited giving the benefit of the doubt due to the holiday time, still nothing. January 7th, contact customer services again, I was told it was out of stock in my area and I will have to wait. This rep. Offer extend my prime for a month. That doesn't justified the false information they gave me and the time I been waiting for it. Then told me I will get a confirmation email when it is ready for delivery. It did not happen, ask to speak to a supervisor, I was told it was due to technical difficulties that I will get an email in 48hrs (same thing). I ask why was it listed in Stock when I purchase if they didn't have any in stock but was also told in stock on the 23th of December and I will get it soon that it was expedited but than now it's not available again. To my surprise, I get disconnected by the team lead with no response to my question. Got connected to a new, rudely said the best they can do is to cancel it and for me to reorder it right away for it is in stock now and ready to ship in 1-2 days. They just cancel the item without me saying yes to canceling it. Super rude customer services. If they had it in stock why not just ship me the item?
