  • Netflix

5/25/15

I had no issues using the NETFLIX mail in and order mail system. Occasionally, I would be mailed the wrong movie, or the CD was unreadable. I wanted to rent more movies at once, and I couldn't get enough, so I stopped being their customer.
We started using the NETFLIX online service.
BOO HISS! Though the T. V. online selection was usually fairly good, we frequently encountered the same basic problems. Those problems were often HUGE!
We would load the movie, and get to watch maybe
15-20 minutes, and then suddenly, the movie would just freeze. It sometimes took an additional 25 minutes to load again, we would get to watch sometimes only 10 more minutes before it would freeze again.
Thumbs DOWN! If I was allowed to put zero Stars, I would.

  • Lands' End

5/25/15

Over a period of about 40 years, Land's End has been a place that I do some of my online shopping. Their selection is somewhat limited. I occasionally find what I would like to wear, but they seem to stick to serving only higher-end clientale.
Yes, the clothes they do carry are top-notch in quality. They are very well-known for carrying stock that is superior in every way. People brag that Land's End is where they found what they are wearing.
However, they are not very user friendly in the area of what sizes you can order their clothes in. It used to be that if a woman was larger than size 18-20, you almost could not find anything. I saw things I liked sometimes, but in order to find something to fit, I had to buy the men's clothes. I can't tell you why -), but as a woman who plain old just likes looking like a woman, and sometimes look feminine, I just was not finding what I wanted to wear. When I want to go out on a date with a guy, I don't always want to look like a man. My problem has been that although my bottom half can fit into woman's clothes, my top half is a size 48 F. Only the large men's shirts looked O. K., but they don't have the frills or lace I sometimes prefer.

  • Victoria's Secret

5/25/15

Ah, the wonderful Victoria's Secret! Though some of the ensembles are drop dead gorgeous, they are meant to fit primarily women who are on the medium or large size. If you are a large and tall woman, you mostly will have to look elsewhere to find clothes that fit you.
However, Victoria's Secret does carry a good selection of female underwear in sizes 9 and 10. If you have a very generous bust, you generally have to have it made special order online anyway.
They have delightful, glamorous, and sexy outfits for us. Occasionally, they carry One-Size-Fits-All, (for instance in Catsuits, and other stretch outfits.)
Otherwise, the colors of their outfits can run from all ranges of the spectrum. Some of their outfits are drop-dead gorgeous. The quality is usually pretty good, and if you take care of your clothes, they can fade out of fashion, and come back in again 20 years later, and they still are in fine condition. But what do you think? They often do not stay on a woman for very long anyways. If you have a tender and thoughtful partner, he generally does not just rip them off you and tear them anyway, unless he is willing to buy you some frilly new gifts.

  • Bed Bath & Beyond

5/25/15

Bed Bath and Beyond stores are not as huge of other large chains. What they do tend to beautifully display includes marvelous colors, materials, styles, and designs.
My two disappointments with them are these:
1. They charge what the items are really worth, (which unfortunately, is a lot of money.);
2. Though everything is beautiful, it is usually not what I have been looking for.
Otherwise, I just like to browse there, be occasionally, I do pick up delightful items there.

  • Walgreens

5/25/15

Walgreens is definitely the only place I will get my prescribed medicines!
I have shopped at several Pharmacies in the past 45 years. One Pharmacy neglected to pay attention to the Contraindication Alerts, gave me two medications that are NEVER allowed to be prescribed together, and I nearly died. Other Pharmacies have not made that drastic an error, but I have found that many Pharmacies will charge more than they should. This has digruntled me, and made me feel that Pharmacists just cannot be trusted.
Then, I began to get my prescription drugs from Walgreens. I have been with them many years, and not once have they made a mistake. Correction: they made a mistake one time, but not a serious one. They have correctly filled several hundred prescriptions for me. I had been very ill, and now, though I am still disabled, I am much healthier.
The staff at Walgreens' stores are unfailingly polite, helpful, considerate, and truly give the best service.
The Pharmacists will ALWAYS answer any questions I have about medications. Sometimes, they even offer information before I can ask for the Pharmacists.
I am not thrilled with the prices on the vitamins, supplements, or ace wraps. They also do not carry all of the products I usually buy.
However, for a Drugstore, Walgreens hands-down scores the highest ratings from me EVERY TIME!

  • Costco

5/25/15

COSTCO, although it offers sets of things in large quanities, it does sometimes not give you very many choices as far as Brand products. Sure, they have a lot of products, but there are some things that I am very Brand-loyal about. If COSTCO does not carry MY BRAND, I am not going to buy it.
They have a very good selection of fresh fruits and vegtables, bread, chicken, beef, salmon, and etc. Their hot chicken section is great.
They often offer free samples of various foods. They make them taste so good, that I really want to go buy them. When I get to the freezers and look at the ingredients in these delicious items, I am dismayed to see that the products have way too many unhealthy ingredients in most of them. They are usually mouth-watering, but I have been ill, and I have to be very careful what ingredients I eat.
However, I like certain kinds of juice, and generally, as a rule, I cannot buy them at COSTCO.
Their Electronics Section is fantastic! Their section for books or games is also fairly broad.
They have a limited selection in the Gardening Section.
I am NEVER happy with their available choices for OTC Meds, clothes, and frozen products.
You have to pay for your membership; COSTCO carries a limited amount of Brands; and you cannot use just any method of payment. For this single woman, usually it is only worth the time and effort for me to go to COSTCO, for fresh food and any large office equipment I need to buy. It really is not worth the Membership Fees.
PLUS, even though I was only away from my car for 15 minutes, my purse was stolen from my car that was parked in the COSTCO parking lot.
Thumbs DOWN!

  • Home Depot

1/23/15

Home Depot is also one of my favorite stores. They have more of the little and big tools I need to tinker with while completing many of my home repair projects. I am vary rarely disappointed in what is available in the big Home Depots in the cities near where I work and live.
Home Depot is one of the first places I go to when I have money. If I cannot find exactly what I need to work on my little building projects by myself, the very friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient staff usually can show me something that works just as well.
There has been only one item, in 40 years, that I could not find. That item had to be purchased from the manufacturer. It is a specialty item that is not carried in ANY hardware store.
BRAVO, Home Depot! I have tried ACE Hardware, Orchard Supply, Loew's and Mom & Pop stores. You have earned my Loyalty for over 40 years.
Way to go!

  • Staples

STAPLES PROVES TO BE A TRUSTWORTHY COMPANY, once again!
I was afraid to order anything online. I ordered 5 ink cartridges, and asked to pick it up at the store. It got there, all right, but they listed my name incorrectly, and initially STAPLES staff could not find it. They should have sent a free gift card for $20.00 under separate cover. I didn't receive it. I was fuming!
Take a hint, PERSIST! When they eventually located all of the information, they said that they had made a pretty serious mistake... They had not charged me for the order, and the Gift Card is not sent out until they received the payment. They told me that because it was their mistake, the $161.00. Order was free to me.
I insisted that even though they were unable to locate the Credit Card Charges, that, in fact, the money had been debited from my account. I proved this was true, and not only had they been initially willing to give me that expensive online order for free, but they then sent me the Gift Card, via Express Mail.
I AM IMPRESSED!

  • Fry's

1/16/15

Fry's has a great selection of Computers and accessories, and often reasonable prices. HOWEVER, they seem to do things in an assembly line style. To pay for my products, I have stood in a line of up to 25 other people waiting for them to check us all out. The first two people in the line can see how many employees are working the registers. The rest of the long line of counters has been hidden by display cases, so you cannot see the employees. I don't know about other people, but it really ticks me off to see that many people waiting in a very slow line that does not seem to move at all, and I have waited as much as 30 minutes for it to be my turn to check out. That is terrible service.
Also, at Fry's, though they have many employees to help the customers looking for products, if you are not a young male dressed in Professional Attire and appear to have a lot of money, the employees will often look right through you, and shine you on when you have the terrible audacity to ask them questions. I am an older women who wears casual dress. I am very smart, and that is how I look. It is quite insulting to repeatedly ask an employee of a store where to find a product, and as they are walking away and looking back at you over their shoulder, they shout out: "You can find that T. V. Antenna on aisle" whatever. There are numerous employees at Fry's quite willing to ignore you. It may cost less to shop at Fry's, but not only have I been treated dismissively and with disrespect, but then, I was left waiting almost a half an hour for the check-out employee to finally serve me. This gave me more time than I needed to decide I would not ever return to Fry's.
In deep contrast, though STAPLES does not hire enough employees to help the customer, when you can finally find an employee to serve you, I have ALWAYS been treated with courtesy, friendliness and respect. The clerks are kind people, and I would rather pay extra money to be treated almost as a family member as opposed to going to Fry's where they seem to think it is O. K. to treat ANYONE as though they were from skid row.
STAPLES is one of my favorite stores! They usually have on hand, (in the store), almost everything to stock my office. Sometimes the prices are fairly high as compared to Fry's Electronics, but STAPLES is much nearer to home than other places.

  • Amazon

1/16/15

I can't tell you enough great things about Amazon, especially in the Books/Education Category. They are beyond wonderful! You have the option of buying books new or used, and they are priced accordingly. They seem to have contacts with quite a few businesses and people with books they are selling, available through Amazon. I would caution you, however, that just because someone is charging only $3.99 for an item, does not mean that is how much you will end up paying. You will pay the listed amount PLUS how much they charge for THEIR Shipping and Handling Fee. Sometimes if you mailed a small book, it might cost you under $5.00 if you mailed it from the Post Office. For the exact same item, they often charge whatever they feel like charging, which means they could set their Shipping and Handling Charges as $39.95 for the same item. Add their "Fees" to what they stated was the price. Instead of the item costing only $3.99 plus tax, you might have to pay over $45.00. Sometimes if the Amazon book price is listed as $20.00, often with FREE Shipping, you can save a lot of money just to buy books "New" from Amazon. Amazon is one of my favorite online buying resources.

  • Walmart Canada

1/16/15

My only complaints about Walmart are about the limited variety of food selections available.
I am often a "Brand-Name" shopper. I also frequently buy frozen fruits and vegetables. I purchase many varieties of these things. Walmart rarely has the types of these frozen foods I like,(I like veggies with stir-fry things, including water chestnuts and Chinese Snow Peas.) I cannot find them here. I am displeased that if I go to Walmart for the cheap prices, I am only able to purchase less than half of the things on my shopping list. Then I have to go to a different store. It irritates me. However, the clothes available there are adequate.

  • LogMeIn

1/16/15

I have all these warning signs going off in my gut. I have been called several times by "UNKNOWN", who turns out to be LogMeIn123.com. They claim to be with Microsoft Tech Support. I believe that this is FALSE. Plain and simple these calls are nothing more than Sales Calls, with the "Tech" using highly pressured speech to trick anyone into buying their Services by "Running Scans" on your computer, and then notifying you that "No-one can use this computer until you fix it". I ordered them to disconnect and remove my phone number from the Call List after reading the customer reviews.
