Crooks
February 6, 2022

Very unhelpful, I changed my plan to get more internet and instead of adjusting the bill to reflect the new plan... they charged me for the old plan and new plan not adjusting it to reflect the new plan so my bill for one month went from 79.00 to 324.00 as if I have 3 modems. They are horrible and need to just shut down!

The Worst
January 24, 2022

We signed up for the second highest service with Viasat. Within the first week we noticed slow everything. It was not suitable for working on a computer and kids on tablets for homeschooling. Within 1 week we had Used 1/2 of our 100mb. No over excessive use, no gaming. We have a Verizon jetpack that worked so much better with no buffering and faster service. Called to cancel within the week and they are still charging the 24 month cancellation fee. $325! What a joke and total rip off. Zero grace period. If you have to lock people into a contract maybe it's because you have a crappy product.

Zero Stars
January 24, 2023

This company prides themselves on serving rural areas which actually means = they know they are the only option and jack up their prices and offer piss poor internet service with caps on high speed (which isn't high speed) internet. It's actually disgusting how they monopolize on rural customers who have no other option. The only reason companies put caps on high speed internet is simply to make money off of them. We pay almost $200 for the SLOWEST internet that caps about half way through the month and then we are left with 1mbps which is basically unusable. The second another option becomes available we are RUNNING and never looking back. The only reason this company has good reviews has to be because they pay people to write a false good review or they write them themselves.

Viasat is slower than the old dial up modem. You can't enjoy the internet or streaming videos at all. It is the worst internet service on the planet. You pay your twice as expensive bill, and 2 days later you have supposedly used up your supposedly "high speed" gigabytes of data. DO NOT GET VIASAT.

Customer service
December 26, 2022

My router started going out at the beginning of the month and I had to restart every couple days called for service and was told technician would call and set appointment. Never called so called customer service back every week and have been told to wait for the technician to call and they won't just send new router. So router is completely out now. No service at all now and know idea when technician is coming totally unacceptable

Do not buy.
March 27, 2022

Hello all,
This will be my first and hopefully last one star review of a service. To start, Viasat is completely overpriced and you won't receive the download speeds that are advertised and that you pay for. While you have not surpassed your "soft" data your speeds will be low and when you surpass the cap you'll often find the service completely unusable most of the time. Including high traffic times, low traffic times, and almost every moment in between. Their customer service representatives will be evasive, if not lie to your face, and that's if you can even get in contact with them. They get away with it by stating that you "SHOULD" get speeds of 1 - 3 megabits/second after you surpass the soft cap. It's more along the lines of 0.01mgbs/s. UNUSABLE. Viasat is at best an overpriced scam with no care for the customer. If you value your time and money DO NOT PURCHASE.

Canceled their over priced under performing trash service. Didn't cancel it right away so I could have a prorated bill. Demanding I go up on the roof to retrieve the TRIA box from the satellite or charge me 125 to come get it.

The sales people will outright lie to you in order to make a sale! I knew immediately that the service was horrible buffering and interrupted. After 10 days my data had neared its limit. I called to complain that I'd been grossly misrepresented about the service. I paid 99.00 installation and 75.00 for first month. I'm not trying to recover that. I called to disconnect the service at the end of the first month. I returned their equipment. I've since received a bill for 404.08 saying early disconnect fee. I'm disputing that charge. No way should I have to pay for service that was horrible and I was blatantly lied to about data. I've filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. Bottom line is stay away from Excede / wildblue Internet. Parent company Viasat Inc.

This is by far the worst internet I have ever seen or used. They limit you to enough data to check emails once a day so do not try to watch a streaming app including youtube. We tried this to work from home right outside of town. After 9 months we were fed up enough to cancel. During the cancel they said that it is in their contract that internet will be slow during busy usage times and it is the customers fault that there were many outages. They will not send anyone out to try to figure out the issues, but instead you get a unplug the router and plug it back in, maybe the bad weather is causing the problems, or its not our technicians fault he aimed the satellite directly at a full grown tree. Absolutely disgusted by this company and would not recommend to anyone. My advice is if you are wanting to get this company for internet, you would be better off with no internet and hotspoting off of your phone in which you will get more reliable and faster internet.

I have had two instances where we needed a technician to due a site visit. In both cases, we could not get an appointment for 7+ days. In both cases, the technician did not show up for the appointment. In both cases, there was no message provided to us until I called customer service. In both cases, there was a not in the file that the technician cancelled because he was waiting for equipment to be shipped. This is without ever visiting the house to see the cause, so they don't even know if it is an equipment issue. In both cases, I needed to reschedule the service and wait an additional week. When I inquired about terminating the service, I was told they would not waive the two year service agreement and I am obligated to pay the $108 per month for the remainder of the agreement (11 months).

HORRIBLE
August 3, 2022

Just had ViaSat for 3 days for simple, remote video calls and the data used is just absurd. Signal sucks, reception horrible, speed awful. Worse experience w/ internet companies EVER. Customer service took NINETY minutes of my time only to get my name and address wrong -- pathetic. Woman from NY was rude, could barely speak English and I could care less how many customers you deal with in a day, I'm not your therapist.

I call 2-3 times a week, every time its something else. There is no retribution for the data i have paid for and cannot use. They can give me a credit, i told them i am canceling their service, they will not refund me, only a credit for another month of bad service. So not only have they not given me my money back for days i had no internet, there is no pay for the time i have wasted calling. These are not 5 minute calls. These calls are over 30, currently on the phone now for 49 minutes. Run from viastat!

Hughesnet sucks. So I tried Viasat which is worst and is $60 a month more. Plus I had to install a $100 range extender and another router because their installer said their router sucked which it did.

Viasat Sucks in Every Way
August 28, 2022

We used Viasat/Exede/Wildblue for several years only because we had no other choice. I can't think of one good thing to say about this company or service. The internet sucks. The customer service sucks. The prices suck. We paid exorbitant rates and if we tried to watch video or even forgot and left a web page loaded that had ads our internet would be used up nearly overnight. We finally got fiber optic and I couldn't wait to call Viasat to cancel. They then offered a reduced price and I told the rep that they have nothing to offer compared to fiber optic. I wouldn't keep Viasat if THEY offered to pay ME. Just thankful it's finally over! Do yourself a favor and take any other option than Viasat. I just wish I could give a negative rating instead of 1 star.

I asked them to cancel my service due to the lack of quality. They still charged my account and refused to refund my money. They advised that they are going to charge my account $ 300 as well. Go to other providers.

I was promised download speed of 25. Signed up for the Bronze plan. I work from home and depend on internet to make a living. Today the download speed was 4.11. So slow O could not even work. This service is a total ripoff. Needless to say I will be canceling and may even take them to small claims court for not delivering in their contract..

If any company ever deserved to go out of business this is the one. Worst customer service ever. The speeds are terrible all any device does is buffer. So over priced within 24 hours of supposed high speed data you are getting message you have used all Hugh speed data not that you have service even for 24 hours to say this service is trash is the understatement of the millennium.

Run don't walk away from Viasat. I finally canceled my service. They said they were going to send me a package for return. It did not come. I called them three times to get it sent here. Nothing came. I pleaded with the rep to help me solve the issue to let me mail it in on my own. They did nothing. I am out $325 at not fault of my own. Actuallly, I went above and beyond to try to solve the problem with their system to no avail.

They should change their name to Lie-A-Sat. They were good for a while (12 years, going from WildBlue to Exede, and finally VialSat) and then service began to suck a few months ago. We can no longer stream Netflix or Hulu. I've rebooted a dozen times and upgraded the wi-fi router's firmware. The technicians swear we are getting a good signal, but we're not. Instead, they want us to upgrade our plan (which used to work fine) from mid-level Liberty 25 to the most expensive plan. In my world we call this extortion.
