Worst internet/costumer service, they charged me for a missing piece saying I didn't send, yet gave them tracking number and what not mind you i send this about 5 months ago and just a couple weeks ago they decide to take $300 from my account with out contacting me yet calling me a liar about not send there items back and pretty much said screw your refund! WORST EVER! And wifi sucks out in the country and they charge so much!
Run don't walk away from Viasat. I finally canceled my service. They said they were going to send me a package for return. It did not come. I called them three times to get it sent here. Nothing came. I pleaded with the rep to help me solve the issue to let me mail it in on my own. They did nothing. I am out $325 at not fault of my own. Actuallly, I went above and beyond to try to solve the problem with their system to no avail.
We used Viasat/Exede/Wildblue for several years only because we had no other choice. I can't think of one good thing to say about this company or service. The internet sucks. The customer service sucks. The prices suck. We paid exorbitant rates and if we tried to watch video or even forgot and left a web page loaded that had ads our internet would be used up nearly overnight. We finally got fiber optic and I couldn't wait to call Viasat to cancel. They then offered a reduced price and I told the rep that they have nothing to offer compared to fiber optic. I wouldn't keep Viasat if THEY offered to pay ME. Just thankful it's finally over! Do yourself a favor and take any other option than Viasat. I just wish I could give a negative rating instead of 1 star.
Do not ever buy internet from viasat. First off, they apparently lock you into a two year contract on the paperwork even though there is no mention of that when you talk to the sales representative. The services they offer are a fraction of what cable provides but they charge you twice as much. Not only that, but the "services" they provide are not actually given. I purchased 25 mbps download speed and 3 mbps upload speed for $99.99 a month and they only give you 60 GB of high speed data. Well their "high speed data" got me 11 mbps at max and the 60 GBs only lasted about 8 days max since I work from home and we have about 10+ total devices that use internet in the house. With the "standard speed" internet, I would get on average about 3 mbps download speed and 0.11 mbps upload speed, all while being grounded in to a WiFi booster on top of that. The rest of the house would average about 760 kbps download speed. The sad part is I've purchased cable internet that only provides 10 mbps download speed and the internet runs fine in the house. The reason I call them scam artists is because they charge you to cancel the contract early. Now I have to pay $311 to cancel this 2 year contract (again, not mentioned by the sales rep). So clearly, the cancellations fees are what the company banks on to make their money because they know no one is going to want to keep their service. Also, if you get one cloud in the sky you can kiss your internet connection bye-bye, which is really sad because it's been 20 years since I've had satellite and it doesn't appear the technology has improved one bit.
If any company ever deserved to go out of business this is the one. Worst customer service ever. The speeds are terrible all any device does is buffer. So over priced within 24 hours of supposed high speed data you are getting message you have used all Hugh speed data not that you have service even for 24 hours to say this service is trash is the understatement of the millennium.
Viasat is slower than the old dial up modem. You can't enjoy the internet or streaming videos at all. It is the worst internet service on the planet. You pay your twice as expensive bill, and 2 days later you have supposedly used up your supposedly "high speed" gigabytes of data. DO NOT GET VIASAT.
I have suffered through 13 months of very poor internet. I paid $385 a month and the "high speed" data was gone in one week and then we could not do anything. The speed was never as fast as they reported that it would be. I need to work from home and it was a daily struggle with buffering and dropped calls etc. I would end up paying another $120 a month for more data. I called to cancel today as e-mails always indicated that my data was starting over on the 5th. I was told they already billed me yesterday and will not refund any of it.
Just had ViaSat for 3 days for simple, remote video calls and the data used is just absurd. Signal sucks, reception horrible, speed awful. Worse experience w/ internet companies EVER. Customer service took NINETY minutes of my time only to get my name and address wrong -- pathetic. Woman from NY was rude, could barely speak English and I could care less how many customers you deal with in a day, I'm not your therapist.
Lose service 9 out of 30 days (minimum) and they will not service their equipment if you ate not on auto pay... glad my Contract is over...
This company is a JOKE. Over 800ms just to send the request as they use OLDER technology. They are VERY EXPENSIVE and your data amount will drop faster even when we were not using it. Canceled the service after 1 month.
This has to be one of the worse internet providers available in my area. I told this company when I placed my order that streaming was necessary. This was stressed multiple times during the call. The person that set this up said that this wouldn't be an issue since I had the best plan they offered; only that gaming would be an issue. We had no problem with that since we don't do gaming. I was told by their installer that it would take a few days for the speed to be reached & this NEVER happened. We gave this company a little more than 2 weeks to do so. To top it off, I am being forced to pay for an additional month after only having this "service" for 2 weeks; they have already billed me for the first "month" of service AND I'm being charged an early termination fee for a service that was never provided! So sick to my stomach over this since they did NOT provide the service they said they were going to and I had "The Best" plan they offered. The supervisor was just as dismissive and essentially said sorry, but too bad. A business that lies to get your business is one that will lie to keep it and this company is very punitive to you. Valuable lesson: don't use a satellite internet provider or a company that you don't know.
Not only are they very expensive, we were constantly buffering and we had high speed and then unlimited standard data, but even google showed us that we were staying in the "low quality" range always buffering and stopping and starting videos. If the whether wasn't perfect our internet would go out even if it sprinkled, Viasat and Hughes were the top two worst services we've ever had.
Storm knocked out our service. Their rep sold me a tech support plan & told me who to call. Find out they are over 1.5 hours away and have no interest in sending a tech. After hours on the phone a Viasat manager tells me the tech plan is only for "access to support" (ie. A number to call) but doesn't insure support. Over a week with no service for our business and not even scheduled for repair, they're "unsure of any repair date." Do not use them! But the manager did tell me he appreciates our business! Making a change asap.
Internet unavailable for three weeks. Customer service said when service was restored I would be credited for the three weeks but when the bill came there was no credit. Customer service never communicated with billing so I was billed as if I had service the entire time. Can't wait for contract to be over so I can get Starlink.
To start, I am paying $197 a month for the worst internet ever. Unlimited 100 GB. How is it unlimited with a cap of 100 GB? ViaSat lied to me when they said I could work from home, stream movies, and generally use my Wi-Fi. Nope. We don't use Wi-Fi on either of our phones (cell data only) and our security system is turned off. We can't use any of our smart home devices. I have to go in to work even though I am allowed to work from home. Something is chewing up the data but they can't tell me what because they want me to pay MORE money for some woopsie doodle extra. My data seems to last about 18 days then I have to stream using my hotspot-which oddly enough seems to allow me to stream more using less data. I have only one word for ViaSat - STARLINK is coming to my house soon
No internet for over 2 weeks. Appointment for technician to appear never happened. Customer service claimed that technician was delayed but would come later in the day-wrong. During a call to schedule another appointment I was told to call the technician myself to get another appointment. DSL would be better than Viasat because the phone company shows up to restore service
I have UPS delivery confirmation they received equipment on 2/8/22 however on 4/20/22 they took $315.00 out of my account because they say they don't have equipment. I am on my 4th phone call and still waiting for my refund. I keep getting told it has been escalated and have to wait 3-5 business days to see if the equipment research dept can located equipment.
Canceled their over priced under performing trash service. Didn't cancel it right away so I could have a prorated bill. Demanding I go up on the roof to retrieve the TRIA box from the satellite or charge me 125 to come get it.
