Bag was in TERRIBLE CONDITION! The day I got it Jan 2nd I filed claim. Tophatter still hasn't given me a refund.! TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!
If you ever do manage to win an auction on a half way decent item for a few dollars that is worth much more, they never send it, it's that simple, that's how the scam works basically. I realized this when I noticed a 45 dollar watch I won for 3 dollars never made it past a "shipping partner" in Los Angeles and USPS never received the item. It's really easy to win auctions on Tophatter on a few halfway decent items sprinkled here and there if you're patient (con artists call it "salting"). All you have to do is set a ceiling on your own bids of say 3 dollars on a 25 dollar item and keep bidding on the item you want when it comes up again. In other words if you see a sport camera worth 25 dollars bid on it until it goes over three dollars and stop, wait until it comes up again and eventually you can win it for around 5%-10% of the retail value. The problem is Tophatter never sends those items, they simply wait you out until you demand a refund (which is the dumbest thing you can do really) What they do send is items you bid more than you can buy them for on Ebay f(which is where I bet most of the "vendors" buy their crap).
It's all set up to rip you off every way possible, there IS NO WAY TO "WIN" ON AN AUCTION ON TOPHATTER, for instance they might show a picture of a Nikon camera with a price under it that is the retail value of the camera but what you don't see in the heat of the moment with all of the distractions of multiple auctions running simultaneously is that in very tiny print it says "camera not included". All you're bidding on is a cheap plastic lens cap and I can't tell you how many times I've seen them go for over 50 dollars and as much as 125 dollars. This website if a fraud and should be shut down, it targets mainly gullible, unintelligent people or old folks who think they're getting a good deal.

IF I understand this correctly, you are only allowed to return a certain number of items before you have to start paying to return other items that are broken when you get them. I have purchased 15 items from Tophatter, 5 of those items were damaged when I received them, either due to poor quality or due to the fact that it takes almost a month (or longer) to get these items in the mail. The whole time the postal service has the packages, they just get thrown around and they don't care because the sellers are paying the lowest amount of shipping possible, even though we pay the seller for the shipping. I have even been told that it can sometimes take up to 3 months to get the packages because of the low amount of shipping paid by sellers. In my opinion, IF I am paying a seller shipping, it should not take a month or longer for my package to arrive, and it should not arrive damaged, or in some instances just get an empty box in the mail. I should not have to pay more for return shipping than what the item cost to begin with only to get a partial refund, if any at all! It should not matter how many items that we request a return on, it if is junk or damaged due to poor packaging, or just doesn't work, then we should get a refund no questions asked. That is what BUYER PROTECTION is for! If you do not receive your package in the mail, you should get a refund, no questions asked, even if it has been marked delivered! Just because something gets marked delivered does not mean the purchaser has gotten the item, it could have been a mistake. With tophatter if you have a package that gets marked delivered and you don't get it, you don't get a refund or replacement. You are just out your money! If you tell customer service that they are doing a very bad job taking care of their customers, they ignore you from that point on. If you leave bad reviews on the Tophatter facebook page they will remove your posts and block you from commenting or using the like buttons. I know this for a fact because it has all happened to me in the last 24 hours! It all happened because I refused to pay 15.00 shipping on a 12.00 dollar lamp to return it. I just threw it in the trash. I have 2 more items left to come in and then I will NEVER do business with them again!

Answer: Justin you are absolutely correct. I find out the hard way. I had my own auction with nice AUTHENTIC designer items and cosmetics (Becca, Cargo, Smahbox, Too Faced, etc). I lost big time. $40 Cargo palette sold for $10; it cost me $15. Items that I started higher to cover my cost never sold. I still had to pay fees for the item being listed. A $200 Calvin Klein purse sold for $20; it cost me $80 wholesale. Run!
Answer: If you end up buying a few items from the same seller they can do a combined shipment but you rarely get the same buyer items since they only let the sellers sell 10 items a day. It is different for the sellers that have their own auctions.
Answer: You will notice the same names no matter the day, time etc. Bidding against you very often. Is it a coincidence? Personally I don't believe in coincidences.
Answer: Depends on what you are selling. Yes, a lot of items go unsold in the jewelry and accessories categories... as well as others. Coach and Michael Kors and other designer brands, not much goes unsold, because here's the catch - - you pay fees on the starting bid. TH wants everything to start at $1. So you get punished if you start higher as to not get screwed by a low purchase price. Say you buy a designer bag for $120. If you start that bag at $100, you're already paying over $10 in fees. **IF** you can manage to sell it for a profit, there are still the commission and bank fees. If you start it at $1, you're barely paying any listing fees but it might only sell for $80 (or less!). So, less fees, but you lost your ass on the item. It's messed up. Most sellers have put in their time to see if they can make a profit or to see if TH will change, but they all seem to end up leaving. I'm convinced the only ones who stay to sell there are the counterfeit or crappy quality sellers who are buying items for next to nothing, because that seems to be the only way to make a profit there these days. I would go the ebay route if you're looking to sell.
