With $11 shipping fees with each order the costs add up quickly. Return shipping is $11 if you want a refund to paypal plus $4 restocking fees for each returned item. I made 11 separate purchases and lost $121 in shipping fees alone plus $32 restocking fees for returning 8 items. Thredup is a rip off!
My ThredUp payout after selling 20+ items -- including quality brands like Ann Taylor, Banana Republic, White Houes Black Market, and J. Crew -- was a whopping $1.56, and it took nearly half a YEAR for them to process these donations. (I won't call them sales, because it's essentially a donation.) You can see in the photos how much money these items were sold for versus how much I received in payout too. What a silly waste of my time and effort. I would have been better off just donating them to a women's shelter or taking them to a local Goodwill so that my donations could have at least helped someone in need rather than someone in greed. How is this business still a business?
I used to quite a bit of clothes to thredup. I stopped for awhile because it was starting to not be worth it. It had been awhile so I thought I'd try again. Out of 5 bags, I have made more than their 15$ fee on like 3 of them and just barely over 15$. They accepted a lot but the pay out is so so so so low. I've also seen that they won't pay you anything for some mall brands even though they'll happily accept them. Don't even bother honestly. I was trying to make extra money but I'll probably end up having to pay them just to cover the high fees.
I suggest not using this site for selling. Poshmark is much better. The time out on fall clothing before fall starts, to cash out your money there is a fee from their partner (Stripe), other fees are very high.
Absolutely horrific business practices now. Previously consigned with them years ago and had problems but nothing like this, you'd be lucky to make 5%-10% of your items worth. Please just go to your local consignment shop. It takes over a month for them to even look at your items and they no longer offer a way of reclaiming them if you've changed your mind. There are so many better options than them.
First, there is no way to contact this company to check status of an order. No number found anywhere. I finally placed my first order since I had some credits. However, it's been 16 days and they are stating that the purse was delivered. I'm home pretty much all day and I never received it.
Also, I sent them a very large bad of clothes, etc. and never got credit for them. The only thing that did work was taking my clothes to the actual store. However, I didn't make much money on the 30+ items they kept. The offered like 1 or 2 dollars on designer clothes. I was disappointed but it was better than nothing.
I paid for a simple skirt for my bg. No tracking no support, no product, no response! Please avoid this vendor at all cost, as you will just loose your money! Scan business, but look forward to joining one of the several hundred lawsuits against this company
It's not with ordering from here, you get things faster ordering something from China than ThredUP which is ridiculous. I've gotten excited by items that were lost and or just never showed. I placed an order on 4/10/22 and I still don't have the items and the tracking keeps reading "error" so I have no idea when the items will arrive and to top it off this company has the nerve to charge restocking fees. Complete joke!
I would have felt a whole lot better if I had donated them as well cause I only made $. 50 from the app and is said to only be getting $31 after Sending in 17 items I had no idea they would take most of the money they had placed on the items after sales. It's such a waste of time, I wish there was an option for no star. KMT, judgment day is coming for all you scammers out there rubbish. My evidence is attached so y'all can see they price them for a lot and send u pennies. This is bulls***.
I wish I would've found these reviews before sending my bag of clothes in! Out of my bag only 5 items were being sold and the rest were not acceptable! I had some Stride Rite shoes that were in great condition and were not even up to their so called standards! What's worse is I am unable to get someone to communicate with me on my bag! I will never use this company ever again! I wish there was a lawsuit against like another post mentioned. Please do not send your clothes in!
I sent them 6 articles of clothing, only 4 were displayed on their site (I have no idea where the other 2 other items vanished too). The 4 items displayed were sold, yet I never received reimbursement (which is pennies on the dollar). This has been since January 2023. There is no customer service #, just an email which they never respond to. I had to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. Run…don't walk away from these scammers!
It takes so long to ship your order, which is never scanned for pickup at their GA facility, to arrive, you're sure they've stolen your money. Their customer-service chat is useless if you need help, and you cannot call them. Not a reputable business
Thredup is terrible... Still have not received payout for clothing... Don't do business with this company they're horrible... You would come out better by giving your clothing away... 200.00 dollars worth of clothing... When they do decide to payout. I will receive, (4.24)... Stay away from this place.
Very complicated to navigate their site. Seller sent a damaged item and if I want my money back I would have to pay TU 11 dollars for a return label. That's just a huge rip off. Delete their app and never use them again. Stick with EBay.
It's unfortunate but this company has absolutely no one available for customer service. Packages have been lost in the mail and I've lost my money (almost $100). I've emailed, spoken to the shipping company that they use, which they state they will contact ThredUP. My clean up bag took 3 years for them to go through and post. Things have definitely changed with this company. It's a shame as I've referred over 30 people to this company. I do not want this to happen to them or anyone else so I will make them all aware.
I sent 3 bags of clothing in July. Many designer clothing. Over $5000.
No tax write off. No money to me. O correspondence, Can't call. No one answers me.
Totally disgusted with trying... Stay away from this place.
The quality of the products are often listed as good or excellent but in reality there is often damage that renders an item unusable. The damages are often additional stains or holes. And their return policy is only 14 days, you must pay for the shipping and restock fees. It's impossible to get in touch with actual customer service reps as well. Borderline scam-like. Use other retailers if at all possible. Attached photo is holes in the rear of an item said to be in 'excellent' condition.
Made a purchase of about $1000 that never arrived. The company claimed the address was changed and then not found but it's an actual Post Office (confirmable on google) where FedEx & UPS delivers.
The sector of fedex that they use does not even allow changes so they put he wrong address on the label initially or fraudulently kept my merchandise. I spoke with fedex directly and receive a case number with them as they confirmed and provided documentation of Thredup's fabrications. My shipment was delivered to an address in a city that was not even listed on my account. Thread up then stated they would do nothing about it and recommended speaking with my bank. I've filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, FTC and are filing a police report. It is insane and unacceptable.
I had a credit in my account because I had been waiting over a year for another clean out bag to be posted. I just went to check and all of my money (credit) was gone. They said in chat that it rolls into a gift card. Complete fraud. I was never contacted that this was even a possibility. They still have not posted had my last clean out bag that I paid to receive from well over a year ago. Do not trust them.
I've sent in bags several times- and always with high-quality clothing that has some value. I have never once received a confirmation email that my goods were received, reviewed, or sold. When I've checked the site I see they have in fact sold my items, and that I should have received a dollar amount/credit, yet only once in 5 years have I found this on my account. The system they use, of eagerly taking bags of clothing and then mysteriously never notifying customers that 1. They ever received the bag 2. That they sold it and for how much, and 3. What that sale translates into (dollars, credits?) seems unethical. As a public company I'm confused how they get away with this model.
Answer: Don't bother. I got 80 cents for a whole bag of good condition name brand clothes.
Answer: I've actually emailed their customer service to show them how many negative reviews there were on this site and they did not care at all. They just quoted their policies. I'm sure they will go bankrupt soon enough...
Answer: 1% but they trash the expensive stuff (or am not sure what they do with it) and sell the cheap stuff. So i sent 2 bags with over 20 items, and got total 25$. I had antik batik dress, anthropologie clothes, jcrew, christian lacroix, etc. and they trashed the expensive (new condition) brand and listed cheap things. I will not send them stuff again, it was very hurtful.
Answer: Because they essentially steal your clothes and then sell them for a profit. You get hardly any payout, but they gladly take all your clothes and sell them for a big mark up.
Answer: Of course buyers are satisfied. They are getting other peoples' brand-name, like-new clothes that has been stolen by ThredUp. Buying from ThredUp just supports their dishonest and shady business practice.
Answer: I almost always sell on eBay first. Then when I don't feel like hanging on to the clothes any more and just want my closet space back and they have been on eBay for months, I will send to thredUP. I don't even send in that high end of items and I will usually get $16 and up per bag. So to me, it's a last resort, but I usually can expect something even if it's a little. I LOVE thredUP for buying. Use their upfront calculator to see what items they take. They will say 50 cents to 1.00 per item so it is not hidden info. There is always the return option where you can get your entire bag back for $12.99 as well. Everyone who has nice stuff they'd want back should opt for this method always.
Answer: They sent me an email and put the money on my thred up account so I can buy something. I was do disgusted I gave up on the whole thing
Answer: Because I sent in 575.00 worth of clothes and recieved 8.00 in credit, half of them had tags still on them and were high priced items. When I asked for proof why they did not take them in they said they had stains on them. I asked for pics because they were brand new, they squirted water on them and took a pic. It takes a couple months to even get your credit and when you buy womens clothes, half the time I was sent stained or childrens sized clothes, TWICE is a much better company.
Answer: Honestly this company is not choosing to accept a lot of product that could easily be listed. I have sent bags and bags, including valuable pieces... cashmere sweaters, high end items of considerable retail cost and relatively recently produced. When questioned I am given the response that the items were not in as good a shape as they wanted them to be. That their buyers should be able to buy perfect product. My take on this is... if it's a 200 dollar cashmere sweater and the purchase price is under 10 dollars, a few pills on the fabric should be a non issue! Period. I question what is going on, frankly, as many do. Too much disappears with no explanation, many bags go into complete reject status. I genuinely am concerned that there is a story here and may become apparent after a while. Only time will tell.
Answer: Not worth it unless you have stuff priced over $40 and can get 40%. There percentages are ridiculous for lower priced clothes. You can order return assurance for about $12 but be prepared to get a bag back with your items stuffed in like garbage. They do not even take the time to fold things nicely even though you pay for this service.
