ThredUp's reputation is marred by significant customer dissatisfaction, particularly regarding the selling process and customer service. Many users report feeling misled about item valuations and processing times, leading to frustration over perceived exploitation and lack of transparency. While some customers appreciate the variety of products available for purchase, issues such as delays in shipping, inadequate communication, and poor handling of returns overshadow these positives. Overall, the sentiment leans heavily towards disappointment, prompting many to recommend alternative selling methods and express reluctance to engage further with the company.

Happy with my first order, ordered a sell kit and placed a second order
I loved getting my designer dresses in the mail. It was worth the extra money as my first order I purchased cheaper clothing and ended up returning about half. I'm bummed it's taken awhile for my bag of clothes I sent to be processed though.
I was happy for the most part. The items that didn't fit and I couldn't return, I knew I was taking my chances since the website was pretty clear about it. I wish they had discount codes more often and I wish shipping was free with a $30ish purchase. I hate paying for shipping :( Overall, good value for my money. I love to sell and then use my credit to buy. I would definitely recommend it.
So far I've been extremely pleased with my experience with ThredUp. I've send in one package (I've not had anything posted yet on its contents, but it has been explained that there would be about a 3 week backlog), and I've purchased several skirts and tops. The clothing has arrived on time and in great condition, exactly as promised. The only downside that I see is that I have to pay for shipping, but even that's not that bad.
I'm telling all my friends about ThredUp!
I had received an email with a percent off of purchase. When I purchased clothes I couldn't get it to work. The customer service representative was very helpful and applied the discount for me. She was very helpful and friendly.
Great shopping experience!
I ordered 3 pair of jeans at a fraction of retail anywhere.
The jeans fit perfectly! I love all three!
Thank You Thred up!
I also love that everything is from USA! Thanks again!
I will always look at Thred Up when I'm looking for a certain item
I love ThredUp. I have found awesome stuff at even more awesome prices!
I have been happy with the company regarding the selling process, the emails with the status, the check in's to be sure I am happy and the notifications as to what sold and when. The reason I am giving two stars is that I feel the trade in value was too low for the items I sent. I understand that an owner of an item puts more value on their "stuff" so I went in with very realistic expectations and am quite disappointed. For example: I had very expensive jeans, that I was given very little for, be sold within one day of them getting uploaded. The buyer got a good deal and they knew it! I am not sure the buyers truly know the value of the items maybe?
My first experience was great! However the second order I placed was disappointing. I shop by my size 16. It asks you if you want equivalent sizes to be shown, I said yes. I thought this was a good option until I got my order and the jeans I got did not fit. I thought size 32 was the equivalent of size 16 since I chose size as my filter. I was very disappointed.
My grandaughter is 9 years old and I have already done my time taking children from store to store shopping for clothes. ThredUP's site lets me sit with Ryver and we can browse through the enormous inventory for young girls. With my senior income, I have to watch every penny, but I want my granddaughter to have the best quality of clothes without me having to spend a fortune. ThredUP lets me do that and they ship their orders quickly. And besides who doesn't like having a polka dot box delivered to your doorstep.
Shirt was supposed to be cold water creek in gold, was talbots in green,
Fit ok so kept it, also skirt was too small, since it was final sale could not return it so am stuck with it.
I am very pleased with both the quality and the prices of all the items of clothing I have purchased. I've recommended this to all of my friends and plan to order from here as often as possible.
I just received my Thredup box and tried on all of my items. I absolutely love all of it! Everything fits great and the condition is beautiful. If I didn't know better I would have thought these items were brand new!
Thank you for making up cycling so much fun!
My items come quickly. They are always in good shape and size appropriate.
Very easy to use and I really LOVED the opinion of no shipping charge if you get "store" credit. Looking forward to shopping again with ThredUP
Clothes were easy to go through, easy to order, easy to return, and customer service was immediately helpful when I did have a problem (not being particularly computer savvy). And every thing comes in a precious polka dot box and wrapped in tissue, LOVE THAT!
Can't recommend this sight enough!
I haven't received them yet but I was very happy with the website and all it had to offer in clearance.
I used thredUP for the first time two weeks ago. Ordered myself a shirt and my son two shirts and two pair of shorts-all for under $30! Wow! Great price. But I was worried about the condition of these clothes. At a brick and mortar consignment shop, you can inspect and tell quality. I was concerned that it may be different buying consignment online. I was ecstatic when my cute polka dot box arrived and clothes were like brand new! Have already placed my second order and referred friends!
Answer: Don't bother. I got 80 cents for a whole bag of good condition name brand clothes.
Answer: I've actually emailed their customer service to show them how many negative reviews there were on this site and they did not care at all. They just quoted their policies. I'm sure they will go bankrupt soon enough...
Answer: 1% but they trash the expensive stuff (or am not sure what they do with it) and sell the cheap stuff. So i sent 2 bags with over 20 items, and got total 25$. I had antik batik dress, anthropologie clothes, jcrew, christian lacroix, etc. and they trashed the expensive (new condition) brand and listed cheap things. I will not send them stuff again, it was very hurtful.
Answer: Because they essentially steal your clothes and then sell them for a profit. You get hardly any payout, but they gladly take all your clothes and sell them for a big mark up.
Answer: Of course buyers are satisfied. They are getting other peoples' brand-name, like-new clothes that has been stolen by ThredUp. Buying from ThredUp just supports their dishonest and shady business practice.
Answer: I almost always sell on eBay first. Then when I don't feel like hanging on to the clothes any more and just want my closet space back and they have been on eBay for months, I will send to thredUP. I don't even send in that high end of items and I will usually get $16 and up per bag. So to me, it's a last resort, but I usually can expect something even if it's a little. I LOVE thredUP for buying. Use their upfront calculator to see what items they take. They will say 50 cents to 1.00 per item so it is not hidden info. There is always the return option where you can get your entire bag back for $12.99 as well. Everyone who has nice stuff they'd want back should opt for this method always.
Answer: They sent me an email and put the money on my thred up account so I can buy something. I was do disgusted I gave up on the whole thing
Answer: Because I sent in 575.00 worth of clothes and recieved 8.00 in credit, half of them had tags still on them and were high priced items. When I asked for proof why they did not take them in they said they had stains on them. I asked for pics because they were brand new, they squirted water on them and took a pic. It takes a couple months to even get your credit and when you buy womens clothes, half the time I was sent stained or childrens sized clothes, TWICE is a much better company.
Answer: Honestly this company is not choosing to accept a lot of product that could easily be listed. I have sent bags and bags, including valuable pieces... cashmere sweaters, high end items of considerable retail cost and relatively recently produced. When questioned I am given the response that the items were not in as good a shape as they wanted them to be. That their buyers should be able to buy perfect product. My take on this is... if it's a 200 dollar cashmere sweater and the purchase price is under 10 dollars, a few pills on the fabric should be a non issue! Period. I question what is going on, frankly, as many do. Too much disappears with no explanation, many bags go into complete reject status. I genuinely am concerned that there is a story here and may become apparent after a while. Only time will tell.
Answer: Not worth it unless you have stuff priced over $40 and can get 40%. There percentages are ridiculous for lower priced clothes. You can order return assurance for about $12 but be prepared to get a bag back with your items stuffed in like garbage. They do not even take the time to fold things nicely even though you pay for this service.
