ThredUp's reputation is marred by significant customer dissatisfaction, particularly regarding the selling process and customer service. Many users report feeling misled about item valuations and processing times, leading to frustration over perceived exploitation and lack of transparency. While some customers appreciate the variety of products available for purchase, issues such as delays in shipping, inadequate communication, and poor handling of returns overshadow these positives. Overall, the sentiment leans heavily towards disappointment, prompting many to recommend alternative selling methods and express reluctance to engage further with the company.

Nothing I have bought there fits--the sizes aren't true, and some of the clothes don't look clean. I would like to return all three items. Very bad experience.
I ordered a pair of leggings that arrived really quickly and in great shape. The leggings were just as described on the website and I was very pleased with the condition of them. I would encourage others to give thredUP a try, I think you will be pleasantly surprised and come back for more,
Finding amazing items on thredUP has blown my mind this year and I really love the concept. Hoping to share some great finds as a Christmas present I selected two items for family, submitted their address where we would all be and paid for expedited shipping. Come Christmas no gifts were given, it was so disappointing and embarrassing. When I reached out to customer service I was told nothing could be done with shipping address automatically being my billing address despite my not being home at that location for another week. My expedited cost was offered to be reimbursed but it was too little too late.
I love the concept of ThredUp, but was disappointed when one of the items I purchased was actually unavailable. They immediately refunded my money, but did not reach out to me to inform me about what was going on. I had to reach out to them. They then explained what had happened, and offered me a 20% off my next purchase, but I'm hesitant to order again since I don't know what's actually available. I also wish I had been allowed the option to cancel or hold my entire order since that item was not available. I could've found something else comparable to add to my order. The lack of communication, and the inaccurate listing is frustrating!
I was unhappy with one purchase which I cant return, its labeled LARGE but iz SO SMALL my. Petite small friend found it constricting. Clearly originally owner didn't follow washing instructions. I want tonreturn 2 items gor orginal payment and and have to pay 8.99to do so. SCREW THIS SIGHT
The boots and skirt were perfect! They fit great, looked great, and were purchased at an even better price. Thank you for this opportunity, I am very happy with my purchases!
ThredUp is a fantastic website - great prices, quality clothes. I've been buying maternity clothes lately and it's perfect. My only gripe is that with some of the clothes, particularly dark-colored ones, it's tough to see details in their photos. All the black shirts and sweaters kind of look alike till you see them in person! Other than that, quick shipping, low cost, good clothes and I don't have to go to a store!
I wrote to have question answered. It was obvious the lady truly cared and happy to answer any more questions.
The clothes are super quality dept store nice.
I am the ultimate bargain shopper so it feels very much like Thred Up was designed just for me. It is wonderfully organized. Easy to search for particular items or brands and has great variety. I hear returns are easy but I don't really know because I've NEVER returned anything!
The time allowed for returns is ridiculously short, make it at least 4 weeks please! Especially because you really don't offer a refund but just online credit, which is fine but that's not an ideal return policy. Given that I can't get an actual refund like I can everywhere else I shop and a short turn around time for me to get something back to you will limit my future purchasing. Love your set-up, concept, delivery was wicked fast, overall the clothes I've purchased have been really nice.
Just one more thing, I ordered matching stretch pants for my 5 year old and 2 year old, Hanna Anderson brand, they were capris, I suspected that they might be by the picture, but it wasn't definitive and that's really something that should have been specified in the description but was not.
It has been impossible for me to return an item. Please work on making it more user friendly.
I received black pants with a hole and a white paint stain.
Love love love this site! It's definitely my new go to site for all name brand clothes! Dress in style for a fraction of a price!
ThredUp has totally transformed my wardrobe. I originally was interested in using the clean out bags to help declutter my closet and sell clothes that I normally just donate or keep in the back of my closet. Recently I've started shopping for high-quality designer pieces with the credit I've obtained from my sold items. I would never be able to afford some of the pieces I've used my credit to buy at full price. Everything I've purchased has been in amazing condition.
I will keep ordering, shipping was fast. Sizes were spot on! Clothes were in great condition
Happy customer
I sent a giant bag full with clothes! All was clean and well in fashion. I sent dresses, shirts, blouses, skirts, pants, jackets. I was very dissapointed I received $4.55 credit! I have alot more of greatlooking clothes don't know for sure if I want to send them!
I was able to buy some GREAT finds to start off the new year. Everything is in great shape and I got some great bargains (Clark shoes on "garage sale" for. 85 cents!)
I love thred up, this was my second purchase, I got an awesome bargain on a brand name winter coat with the tags still on! And some hats and gloves and two shirts. I frequently check the site to see what is available to see what I can use my credit for.
Shopping via the app was easy and convenient. Received my purchases quickly. Items were exactly as described. Loved the whole experience. Plan to be a regular.
Easy to locate items, wide variety, and site is easy to use. Love my purchases and will continue to shop with thredUP.
Answer: Don't bother. I got 80 cents for a whole bag of good condition name brand clothes.
Answer: I've actually emailed their customer service to show them how many negative reviews there were on this site and they did not care at all. They just quoted their policies. I'm sure they will go bankrupt soon enough...
Answer: 1% but they trash the expensive stuff (or am not sure what they do with it) and sell the cheap stuff. So i sent 2 bags with over 20 items, and got total 25$. I had antik batik dress, anthropologie clothes, jcrew, christian lacroix, etc. and they trashed the expensive (new condition) brand and listed cheap things. I will not send them stuff again, it was very hurtful.
Answer: Because they essentially steal your clothes and then sell them for a profit. You get hardly any payout, but they gladly take all your clothes and sell them for a big mark up.
Answer: Of course buyers are satisfied. They are getting other peoples' brand-name, like-new clothes that has been stolen by ThredUp. Buying from ThredUp just supports their dishonest and shady business practice.
Answer: I almost always sell on eBay first. Then when I don't feel like hanging on to the clothes any more and just want my closet space back and they have been on eBay for months, I will send to thredUP. I don't even send in that high end of items and I will usually get $16 and up per bag. So to me, it's a last resort, but I usually can expect something even if it's a little. I LOVE thredUP for buying. Use their upfront calculator to see what items they take. They will say 50 cents to 1.00 per item so it is not hidden info. There is always the return option where you can get your entire bag back for $12.99 as well. Everyone who has nice stuff they'd want back should opt for this method always.
Answer: They sent me an email and put the money on my thred up account so I can buy something. I was do disgusted I gave up on the whole thing
Answer: Because I sent in 575.00 worth of clothes and recieved 8.00 in credit, half of them had tags still on them and were high priced items. When I asked for proof why they did not take them in they said they had stains on them. I asked for pics because they were brand new, they squirted water on them and took a pic. It takes a couple months to even get your credit and when you buy womens clothes, half the time I was sent stained or childrens sized clothes, TWICE is a much better company.
Answer: Honestly this company is not choosing to accept a lot of product that could easily be listed. I have sent bags and bags, including valuable pieces... cashmere sweaters, high end items of considerable retail cost and relatively recently produced. When questioned I am given the response that the items were not in as good a shape as they wanted them to be. That their buyers should be able to buy perfect product. My take on this is... if it's a 200 dollar cashmere sweater and the purchase price is under 10 dollars, a few pills on the fabric should be a non issue! Period. I question what is going on, frankly, as many do. Too much disappears with no explanation, many bags go into complete reject status. I genuinely am concerned that there is a story here and may become apparent after a while. Only time will tell.
Answer: Not worth it unless you have stuff priced over $40 and can get 40%. There percentages are ridiculous for lower priced clothes. You can order return assurance for about $12 but be prepared to get a bag back with your items stuffed in like garbage. They do not even take the time to fold things nicely even though you pay for this service.
