The Real Real is a fraudulent business. They lost a whole box from my consignment, 31 items. Their agent tried to track it down, I have emails where he admits they lost it. Thousands of dollars worth of stuff.
And guess what? They've been blowing me off for weeks, no reimbursement, nothing.
I'm retaining an attorney to get something back, but be warned.
This is a fraudulent business, they steal from the consigners and do not even try to make things right.
Please stop using UPS! If I have to pay for shipping I would rather use Fedex or at least be able to choose for myself. UPS is the worst-terribly unreliable to the point where I cringe when I see that a purchase I made is being sent through them. Lost packages, bogus delivery notifications and endless package delays even in perfect weather. Please dump them. They suck! Honestly that's the only issue I have. Your company sends out the packages quickly but thanks to UPS it takes forever to get them anyway. Sigh what a waste.
This site is one of the biggest second-hand luxury e-commerce sites in America, they have a huge selection of luxury goods. But if you try to consign with them and sell your stuff, they take your stuff, take photos, create the listings, and will post incorrect details about your products, creating poor sales for you. It's absolutely shameful how poor their product detail entry is, it seems like every single product page has one or more errors.
Items are too expensive for what they are, are described inaccurately (ie long sleeve tee, instead of sweatshirt, etc). Not enough items on the site compared to other sites such as posh or Grailed, and there's no opportunity to negotiate price.

They lost my item that I was consigning with them and have been giving me the runaround and have not reimbursed me for it. It was an expensive piece of jewelry. Stay away from this company, very unprofessional and terrible service.
I purchased a bag that was a final sale item but there was a major defect that wasn't disclosed in the description or photos. There is writing on the lining of the bag in black magic marker that ruins the purchase for me. It's been 6 days since I emailed customer service with my order number and photos showing the damages, but there hasn't been any response other than an auto generated 'we received your email' message. It was my first time shopping with TheRealReal and I'm very disappointed in this purchase and this company. Really upset about losing several hundred dollars.
So this last order I bought two pairs of Tom Ford sunglasses and both Again were filthy. Finger prints, smudge marks, just horrible way to send something to someone. I'm not sure after buying 3 pairs of sun glasses that I'd recommend buying them here. I might say stick to clothing at this point.
I have been shopping at The Real Real for the past five years. I do like the site as you can find some great bargains there. However, at times, items arrive in a very worn state, which is not mentioned in the description of the item - so you immediately lose $24 (to and from) on shipping, sending the article of clothing back. And their customer service could definitely be improved. For instance, customer service emails sometimes remain simply unanswered.
I purchased a "Tiffany" "sterling silver" necklace from the "Real Real". After receipt, I immediately expressed my concerns about the markings and construction, as I own many authentic items purchased directly from Tiffany. I know what to look for. I was assured it was "authentic". Turned black with all crappy coating rubbed off after 1.5 years. Beware of this bs seller.
I have ordered a few items and each order was very satisfactory. There were no shipping delays. The items arrived in pristine condition. They included really nice reusable bags and authentication info alongside the receipt.
The product keywords, descriptions and measurements are often inaccurate. I know that I save money buying items on this site, but I also waste money on return shipping and items that are poorly described and can't be returned (final sale items), and there is no one to contact if you run into an issue. I'm also not really a fan of selling items on this site. I get better service and more $ for my stuff at my local consignment store. That being said, I will 100% keep buying stuff on this site, and then being somewhat annoyed about it, because they have a nice selection of items at prices I can often afford.
I know I wrote a negative review about this company a few days ago but I'm happy to say that the matter has been quickly resolved. Customer service responded in less than 24 hours about the delay of my parcel and they offered to reimburse my shipping fees as a token of apology. Also, I have received the other items after 2 days from the first shipment. Thank you, TheRealReal.

I'm sorry you've experienced this delay. Our orders (placed by noon) usually ship out the same day, and are delivered in 1-5 business days within the U.S., depending on the destination. We ship from two different warehouses (one in California, one in New Jersey), so they can come in two packages. Have you contacted Customer Service?

The real real now charges $11.99 for EACH item you return, even if you send them in the same box. Of course they don't disclose this anywhere when you make the purchase. They are trying to discourage their main value proposition, the fact that you can make returns, at all cost. Oh, and did I mention they also don't cover return shipping? In addition to that, their customer service is horrific. Good luck if you get a response within 3 days. Will never shop there at all. With I could give negative stars.
They sold my new designer piece for a 4th of the price, over 1k paid for and I got 250 when dust settled. I can give my own clothes away. Would have better luck local consignment shop giving them half or Poshmark I never lose more then 200. Unless you like crying don't do it……who authorized them to give away others clothes. Fool me once —-shame on me, fool me twice, won't get fooled again…..
I have shipped for many years and always found experience pleasant! From selection of brand names to reasonably priced items. One thing I would like to see is inside of a coat. But besides that-excellent!
Bought dresses for a wedding. Each was described exactly. Returned one due to not fitting and received emails when they received the return and then when credit was issued. Items were packed well and shipped very fast. Met all my expectations. Will shop there again.
This time I bought several pairs of pants. Being that in my other purchases there has been no problem with the sizing I thought I would go for the pants. And of the two I got for me 1 was really off, and sadly it was too small. And the shoes are beautiful but also it said they were 3.75 high and are a little bit higher. I was able to wear them for a few hours. But anyway I will keep buying from this site Just be careful with reading descriptions. And the real real it would be wonderful if you had a live chat or somewhere to post questions about items

I feel compelled to write and be honest about what has been happening with this company in the last year. I have no idea what happened but this company has done a complete 180. First of all, prices have dramatically increased. I have no problem with pricing if the item is fairly priced. I have gotten several defective, fake, and misrepresented items. Whoever is assessing the merchandise are missing obvious flaws. A total waste of time and money when you have to ship it back. I would NEVER buy a handbag since it is final sale and you're stuck. However, when you spend a great deal on shipping and it comes totally different that the pictures and website description I have an issue with that. This company needs a complete overhaul.
I shop at the Real/Real all the time. However, I must acknowledge and recognize how much I respect and appreciate their honesty, transparency and timely processing of refunds, should one take place. They also have a great customer service team who responds to any telephonic inquires. Thank you all!
I am both a frequent purchaser and seller on the site. They make it extremely easy to consign and pay quickly when items are sold. As far as the purchasing side, the merchandise is always in excellent condition, arrives quickly and returns are easy if the merchandise isn't just right. What I love most is that you can find really special pieces from previous collections at great prices. The ultimate treasure hunt!
Answer: Do not buy from them! Their return/refund policy is skewed to their benefit. In my case, I bought a Louis Vuitton bag and when it was received it was not in the condition advertised or the photos did not highlight the real wear of the bag and they refused to make a refund or credit. It's their lost because I have since bought many bags on Ebay which offers guarantee of refund should item be faulty or misrepresented. Also, on Ebay you can judge by seller feedback whether the seller is reputable and PRICES are so much less than on the REAL REAL. Their name should be changed to the REAL GREED!

Most times, this is for new customers who have never shopped with us before, orders with vastly different billing and shipping information, or are international customers with unverified credit cards. We will ask for some sensitive and personal information for the purposes of verifying the identity of the purchaser but we will not ask for a Social Security Number. Was your father attempting to complete his purchase via Affirm? Affirm is a third party company we work with that offers financing on purchases. Answer: I do NOT recommend selling through TRR. Read all seller reviews. This a speed selling co trying to cash in on a quick commission. The prices they assign are RIDICULOULOUS at best. They are not there to get you a good price but a fast buck for themselves. They priced a brand new prada bag with a label on at $625. Minus 20% permanent discount, 60% of that, I receive a whopping $312. After 10 days wait of processing and seeing the prices assigned I pulled my items. I was shocked and even more upset. I rather give the cloths to charity or sell them myself. I think it is insiders who buy the best items at dirt cheap prices they assign themselves. As a buyer just today I receive a wrong item. They were going to research the problem and find the item I purchased, a coat. They sent me a dirty silk top... This is after waiting for 10 days to get the wrong item. This co is just very bad. Customer service is spotty. Some reps are just dreadful. They sound like this is a summer gig and they got no training, you can never speak to a supervisor, none is ever available, Read the reviews and decide if you still want to use this co. Knowing how people can be, and also knowing the complainers are the ones who write letters, I can only assume they are "out of touch with reality", or POSSIBLY are competitors who are just being difficult to try and hurt the site. Remember, anyone can write anything, that does not mean it is true, nor are ALL the facts being presented! As for me, I am willing to show, and prove who I am, and the great products and service I received.
Answer: This happened to me only one time, and I have sold quite a few items with them. As soon as I received the quote for a pair of earrings. I contacted them immediately and said I felt the price was to low due to various reasons, and they got back to me the next day with an adjusted price. I have never experienced what you are describing above as a bait and switch scenario, and I always check the similar or same items they are selling. I would just call them and ask for the details as to why the other item is higher. Sorry you had a bad experience!
Answer: File a complaint with the US Customs office in your area and your state's attorney general. Also for many types of goods, they will destroy the counterfeit goods and give you a letter stating they have done so. This is ironclad proof for the bank dispute.
