What a mess...
April 17, 2017

I really wanted to like this service. I was specific about my size, accurately filled out the style profile, provided my age (31), and occupation, and what I was looking to achieve with my "fixes". My first box was "fine" at best. They sent me extremely low cut pants that fit well, but I would not have worn, a cute tank top that had a button missing-exchanged this for one that did to have a button missing, only to find that the first time I washed it, it shrank beyond repair (btw I followed cate instructions to the tee)- a knit blazer which was cute but too big, and a strangely oversized canvas bag. Like other posters, I felt like it was overpriced, but I gave detailed and honest feedback and sent it all back, for the exception of the tank top which I had replaced. I would have liked the blazer, but they no longer had he size I needed.
Fast forward to my next fix. Wow. Literally the ugliest and most ill-fitting pieces I have ever seen in my life. First, they sent me the blazer in the size I wanted but a different color, a completely age-inappropriate baby blue, patterned dress that looked like something a two year old would wear for Easter, a navy blue polyester polka dot sleeveless shirt-hideous-a burnt orange dolman sleeve top- looked and felt cheap and also, it's not 2003- and a "gold" necklace with plastic marble detail. PLASTIC. DETAIL.
I could have saved my $20 and bought a higher quality outfit at Target. I thought someone was playing a joke on me. I immediately sent it back and wrote an email to cancel my account. The email I received from customer service was cordial enough, but I would have liked for them to a) offer to refund my $20, or to b) offer to send the next fix on them. Obviously, I would have paid for the pieces I wanted. Needless to say, neither happened.
Take away:
*cheap clothes - although they all appear to be made in the USA so I guess that's a perk.
*Extremely overpriced.
*i hate shopping but I would rather go shopping than yo use this service again.

Stitch Fix is amazing. Everything they send is top quality, and you can customize their service to meet your individual needs and expectations. Unlike others that provide similar online services, you can pause your subscription altogether or choose to get your fixes monthly, bimonthly, quarterly, etc. They have options to fit everyone's needs. You can also go on the Stitch Fix website and shop some of the items they carry and add them to your next order or purchase them right then. And when you are completing your style assessment they include example photos with each option so you know you are actually selecting the style that best matches your preferences, as opposed to just selecting the description you think is right and hoping you'll actually get something you can use. After each shipment, you rate each individual piece and tell them what specific areas did not fit right and how, and if the price was too high, too low, or just right, so they can use it to provide a more personalized experience moving forward. In addition to providing this outstanding, individualized service, they also have the customer service to match. I reached out to them one time after they had already received the payment for my latest fix, but money was a bit tight and I really couldn't afford to get through until my next check after it had come out of my account. Without hesitating they returned the full amount that had been paid to them, never asked me to return the items first, never tried to make me commit to a future payment date, and never hassled me one time for the money I owed them. They gladly gave me my money back and let me pay it when I was able to do so without putting myself and my family in a bind. That is going above and beyond for your customers, and I have no doubt I'll go the rest of my life and never find service even comparable to what I received from Stitch Fix.

Needs to improve -- a lot
February 26, 2019

Stitch Fix is a great idea, but for a limited number of people: those who are on the trendy side of clothing. It's for the adventuresome woman (though they do offer fixes' for men and children) who is willing to try just about everything. I decided to give them a try when I was burnt out with finding business casual clothing for my part time job. I can never seem to find anything that I like locally so I figured maybe a total stranger with a general idea of what I like to wear would be the answer. Maybe they would have access to clothing that would appeal to me.

First fix I received contained a scarf, a pair of jeans, a pair of dress pants and two tops. I consider scarves an accessory so that was one mark against them as I stated I didn't want accessories. I had just purchased jeans the month prior, so I sent the ones in my fix back. I kept one sleeveless top because it would go well with the required blazer I have to wear at my part time job. I returned the other top, too, because it was made of a material that would cause a lot of static. After putting my returns in the mail, I signed in to my account and went through all of the steps to let them know what I liked and didn't
Like. I think I also liked the trousers, but they were too pricey.

Second fix I received contained a scarf, jeans, two tops and a long light weight sweater. I liked the color of the sweater so I kept it, though now I realize it's going to be a pain to match it with anything. Also, second mark against them was that my stylist didn't listen to what I wanted. I'd indicated no jeans and no scarves, but still got both. I received my third and final fix yesterday. FINALLY, no jeans. Still a scarf, though. But the trousers they included, though I love them, I returned because they were above my price range.

So I canceled my account, mostly because I am going through a big career move that won't require me to dress up, therefore I have no need for their services. Also, I can't really afford the clothes they send. Lastly, the stylists really need to pay attention to the feedback. A friend of mine decided to try it and indicated from the start no jeans; when she got her first (and last) fix, there were jeans inside.

Not worth it
June 25, 2022

I was extremely unimpressed with Stitchfix. Stitchfix is a company who assigns you a stylist based on your style profile you establish in a questionnaire prior to receiving your first shipment.

-They charge full retail for everything. You can get a price adjustment if you go on their site and send them a link to the cheaper price. Doesn't that defeat the purpose? I don't wish to shop, that is why I went to Stitchfix. They sent me a pair of shoes that they tried to sell me $70, I found the same shoes on Amazon for $36. I didn't spend a lot of time looking for the best deal, I just found that Stitchfix is ALWAYS the worst deal.

-Be careful with their private label items. You obviously can't price compare their private labels, so you are stuck at full retail. The stuff they sent me that was private label was cheaply made and priced like it was a top quality name brand.

-I was highly unimpressed with their choices for me. I clicked through a lot of items showing what I would and wouldn't wear. Essentially everything I said I wouldn't wear was sent to me. I find it hard to believe a human is doing any of the styling, it sure seems like it is an overpriced algorithm to me.

I don't care much about the $20 "styling fee". I figure that is mostly to cover shipping and return shipping (since the chances of them sending me 5 things that are actually wearable seems pretty close to 0%). I disliked the obvious price gouging when you are already paying for shipping, styling, etc. No one pays full retail for anything when a better deal is a simple Google search away.

I will never do business with this company again.

My issue is my payment method. When I set up my payment method on their website I saw two options. The first option was to enter my credit card information manually and my second option was to choose PayPal. I chose PayPal.

Unbeknownst to me, behind the scenes, my purchases were being directed to my Venmo account. Which in turn affected my bank account negatively. (The problem is I never saw Venmo as an option. Never. And once I made an order by selecting "buy now" my order went through instantaneously.) I never received an option to review my order before submitting it. At the time I didn't think that was a problem because I didn't know there was a problem occurring. I didn't know there was a problem until my bank sent me an overdraft notice.

I only learned of the problem when I received an overdraft notice from my bank. I immediately contacted stitch fix and requested they stop processing any orders I had in "que" because I had no way of canceling any orders on my end. They ignored me and just continued to process the orders I had remaining in their "que.".

I put a stop payment on at my bank account thinking that would cancel any remaining orders. I was wrong because then Venmo began paying stitchfix. I didn't know Venmo was going to start paying my stitch-fix charges AND because my Venmo balance was at Zero they began charging me "recovery fees". I thought they would reject the charges which would cancel the orders.

Mind you, I returned approximately 95% of the merchandise I purchased from Stitchfix.

I should not be held liable for an excess of $200 in "recovery fees" from Venmo. I wholeheartedly believe stitch fix owes me the money. It was their engineering that was poorly managed which caused this problem. I did nothing wrong.

They rightly owe me over $200 and are not looking for the facts. Very upsetting. ……………………………………...

I never chose Venmo to pay for my purchases via stitch fix. If you look at the picture I have attached it shows what my two options were, yet Stitchfix says I selected Venmo.

I got to fix boxes from them and returned every single item in but. I wrote lengthy notes on what I'm looking for, what I like, and what I hate. I posted well over 100 pictures to my idea board showing styles I love and for every picture I included a description explaining what I loved about the item. Both fix boxes I received were terrible. There wasn't a single item in either box I would have willingly worn or paid for. Many items sent were styles I specifically told them I hate. It was like they sent the opposite of what I was asking for. The clothing was all totally shapeless, like wearing a trashbag. It was also incredibly outdated. Several of the tops they sent looked exactly like things I remember my great grandma wearing before she died over 20 years ago. The clothing was so ugly. I even told them in the reviews after the first fix that most of the items in the box were so bad I wouldn't wear them unless my only other option was running naked through a crowded public area. The second box was just as bad. I'm beginning to wonder if anything the company sells actually looks nice. That aside, all their prices are way over inflated. For almost everything they sent I have seen similar items for sale locally at a third of the price they charge. So basically they don't match the style to your preferences, the clothes are ugly and shapeless, and to top it all off, everything is over priced. I cannot even begin to express how absolutely horrible this company is. Do not waste your money. The only thing they might be good for is buying clothes for elderly people who have lots of money to blow and don't care what they look like.

Poor policies
December 21, 2023

I received gift cards *******@stitchfix & they made my account inactive because I dont keep my CC unlocked for yall to set up my account, As a courtesy if I have my card unlocked for this procedure for 24 hours yall can "verify" my card smh then yall not charging anything on my card unless I am buying something then they canceled my PAID order and I had to reach out to their customer service smh, your loss I know how to shop! I just thought this would be a nice service since I liked a lot of the items on their website, I hope I get my order that I had to submit twice, if not I didn't spend any money on it, but will spread this bad customer reaction, I cant even track my package "if" they process it smh Just poor service.

12/26/23, I am trying to get a tracking order for the items that I purchased with a gift card and they are still giving me a run around, at this point I just want what I ordered since they cant give me a refund sincfe it was a gift card, I called their customer service and they say they cant tell me anything since someone it working with me, but they are giving me the email run around! Smh just sad extremely dissatified with the total customer experice and that it rare with me, I try to give grace.

I'm 42 and a professional working in a client-facing role. My wife started using StitchFix a few months before I did. She also tried TrunkClub and some other similar services. She was really pleased with what she got, and the overall experience, and so I decided to try it out.
I signed up on the website, gave my sizes, preferences, went through the process. Had a brief written conversation with a stylist. My first fix was really well done. They even sent a pair of shoes that i never would have chosen at the store myself, but have ended up being one of my favorites.
I have received a fix every 2 months for about 8 months now, and have been pleased with the majority of what they have sent. Most of it is pretty solid. I have seen a couple of shirts that seem to have a wrinkly material? I mentioned this to the stylist and haven't gotten anything like that since.
Both my wife and I are well-dressed (not fashionistas or anything!) and have both received compliments multiple times on clothing we've gotten from StitchFix.
I'm honestly shocked at all the bad reviews given the positive experience I've had. I imagine one of two things has happened to these folks with bad reviews:
1. They are asking for a price point on items that StitchFix isn't good at meeting. This is not a bargain hunter solution. I don't feel they are overpriced, but StitchFix is certainly not going to be your discount shopping solution for clothing!
2. They aren't good at explaining what they want. This might sound rude or impossible... but I've run into my fair share of people that are ineffective communicators.

Just guesses. My experience has been 90% positive and I no longer shop for anything other than my graphic surf tees that i've been wearing since high school.:-)

Good luck!

It's basically a scam
September 13, 2022

*Skip to the bottom f you don't want to hear the rant... Went to take the quiz for fun, and the website was like "20$ off you first purchase!", so when I was deciding to do it or not it LOOKS like you can get the first box for free. I'm like sweet, great deal. I'm a busy person who doesn't get around to checking my mailbox every day, so basically, I get the box and, to my surprise, The bill is like 200$. I wasn't expecting it (just because there was no clear indication you would be paying that amount when you checkout- like when I placed the order it said 0.00$), so I'm just like, do I like any of the clothes? No. Literal garbage I could have got at TJMaxx for 15$ they were trying to make me pay 50$+ on per parcel. THEN to add a cherry on top you only have 3 DAYS to send the clothes back if you don't want them. For my schedule, I just didn't have time to even receive the package before time had already run out.**** basically they lure you in with what seems like a great deal, only to send crap clothes and give you almost no time to send the items back. I DONOTRECOMMEND AND AMVERYDISAPPOINTED.

First, let me preface this review by saying that I'm a 5', overweight, 52yo who has felt "frumpy" for the past 20 years. I rarely ever spend a lot of money on clothing, shopping at Target, or Kohls when there's a sale AND I have a coupon. I've always had a difficult time finding clothing that looked good on my short frame, even when I wasn't overweight. So I hate trying clothes on at the store. I'm not into the typical "girly" clothes and comfort means everything to me. I'm not into fashion or designer brands either.

SO... perhaps that's why I've enjoyed the boxes that I've received. I think I've received about 8 of them so far, in the last 12 months. I have made a couple general requests, (such as "jewel-tone colors" or "long shorts") and the stylist has made attempts at fulfilling them. Many of the items are things I would never pick out myself, and I sometimes cringe when I open the box. But after I try them on, I usually end up liking them. Everything fits perfectly. I've only had to exchange for a bigger size once, and the exchange was free. The materials are all soft and VERY comfy. I have not experienced the poor quality that other reviewers have mentioned. I feel the quality is comparable to Target and Kohls.

However, there are times when my box contains an item I don't really want, but I end up buying the whole box to get the 25% discount. It's cheaper to keep all 5 items than to return 1 and keep 4! The prices are quite high unless you keep the whole box. My boxes run about $200 AFTER the discount. My last box had a simple tshirt dress, a pair of shorts, 2 tops and a sheer wrap. So I still paid more than I would've if I bought at a store.

But, for me, the cost saves me the time and aggravation of shopping and trying on item after item in the stores. It gets me to wear something besides jeans, tshirts and sneakers. It gets me wearing things I never would pick out for myself.

I had success with Stitch Fix several years ago for several Fixes in a row when I was purchasing work clothing. When I began working from home, and I updated my profile and put in comments that I no longer needed Business dress clothing, they kept sending it. When I needed maternity clothing, I tried 2 Fixes and the first nothing fit or worked for my style. The second they sent me multiple duplicates- the exact same item that had been too large and they just offered it in a different color. I mentioned it and the stylist said they'd offered it because sometimes people like to try things in different colors… except it was the exact same too large size. I waited until after having the baby to try again. I specifically noted I did not want sweaters because I have too many already but needed pants, dresses etc. I was offered mostly sweaters. Most the items were too big (I'm between sizes) and I had to send it all back, and was out the $20 fee. I gave detailed feedback about the fact I didn't need sweaters, I don't need Business clothes (they'd offered a $100 work blazer for me to work from home in), and the sizing issue and more. When I returned it, I was offered a replacement. I thought that meant no styling fee- there was no indication I'd be charged. They ship it and charge me a styling fee. The clothes were even worse- sweaters, dress pants, a business casual dress. It was so bad it was comical except now I wasted $40 with no clothing. I was so fed up I sent a message asking them to just close my account. No offer of a refund or assistance or anything- just confirmed and closed my account. I blasted them on social media and they finally messaged me to help. Too little too late. My reading of Glassdoor indicates they use computer programs to choose clothing now and the program obviously doesn't work- completely ignored my feedback and requests and sizing was wrong. The reviews from employees say inventory is bad which I believe too given how many times I was offered or sent repeated items I already declined. I've added pictures of items I was offered when I asked for casual items in the middle of winter and said I didn't need sweaters- blazers, sweaters, weird dress, blouse, mini skirt….Save your money especially if you're over a size 14 or maternity, inventory is too small and not diverse enough to meet specific requests.

I had used Stitchfix twice previous to this incident. I was also supposedly a preferred customer and was on this plan they had. All the more reason this shouldn't have happened. So I ask them to send my next fix to come just in time for my birthday so that I'll have a birthday outfit. I asked for a complete outfit being that you get 5 pieces, I wanted something that was completed with shoes and jewelry. I didn't say what the outfit had to be just that it had to work within the perimeters of what my stats were(you fill out several questionnaires) and that it just needed to be for spriing or summer because it's hot here! You have to know one thing in this story, I have been working really hard over the last couple of months to lose weight and have gone from a size 1X to where I'm a size large in most things now. Well, you have a profile they're supposed to check your sizes on, that I had been updating my sizes on as they had changed. So what did they do? They sent my fix with 1X clothing and so i had no outfit for my birthday. When I complained about this in an email, instead of an apology and maybe, "how can we fix this" attitude, i got a return email just telling me they cancelled my account. Unbelievable. I had paid these guys out almost $600.00 in clothes so far and that's the response they give you when there's a problem. They dont't even know how to handle a customer service issue! They say you can "talk to your stylist if you have a problem" well i was never contacted by any stylist. I am so disappointed at the lack of customer care any more these days. It's like finding a company that actually cares about how the public perceives it's business is like finding a needle in a haystack.
Stitchfix also had a difficult time working within the price range values that I gave them. And mine weren't small values either. But when you tell them that you won't spend more than $150 on accessories and then they send you $300 purses, what's the point of that?
I would never, nor will I ever, recommend Stitchfix to anyone! In fact, quite the opposite, I will warn anyone that will listen not to get sucked into the buying game. Especially not with one as ignorant of one as Stitchfix.

Pésimo servicio al cliente…

Overview

The company has garnered mixed feedback, with some customers appreciating the quality and fit of the clothing, particularly for specific styles that resonate with their personal tastes. However, a significant number of reviews highlight serious concerns regarding customer service, particularly the difficulty in canceling subscriptions, unresponsive support, and billing issues. Many customers express frustration over receiving items that do not align with their requests, leading to dissatisfaction with the overall shopping experience. This disconnect between customer expectations and service delivery suggests a need for improved communication and operational efficiency to enhance customer satisfaction.
