Abysmal Quality
July 16, 2017

Stitch fix is not for me. The concept is great, but with one caveat: that if you ship poor quality stuff, you risk putting the customer in bad mood. Twice I was left thinking: Huh this is really what the "stylist" thinks I can wear. I made it very clear that I wear J crew, Banana, Ann T - and so was expecting similar quality, but was send abysmal quality stuff from the so called "new and up coming" brands. The quality was so poor that I feel like it's a cover for rejected items from elsewhere. Cancelling my subscription - I hope they can take this criticism positively and make an effort to cater to the customers who want high quality. I say the customer service is good. Contact number is hard to find, but you can leave notes to the stylist - so I disagree to previous comments complaining about customer service. The stylist also listened to me - she did send me clothes that were either all cotton or silk the second time around. Good effort, good service, great concept but need to improve quality of clothes by a lot.

I've been receiving StitchFix for a while now. Today, I received the worst fix ever. Every piece was cheap and poorly made and the prices were way too high for the quality. I barely had the items out of the box before I put them in the return envelope. I'd say 75% of the time I've been let down by the contents of the box. In my opinion, the stylist can't possibly put much thought into it when you get items that are just random pieces. You would think if they just looked at your Pinterest post, they would get it right every time, but that is so far from the truth. And you tell them that you already have something similar, like a certain color jeans, and they keep sending you the same thing over and over. I am so disappointed that I'm giving them one more fix to get it right. Oh, I'm 53 and they should see that in my profile, but what I received today was picked for a 20 year old. I would not recommend StitchFix to anyone. I've stayed with them for a while just hoping that they might eventually get it right. I'm done with that though. They've failed to meet my expectations! I'm tired of looking forward to my fix and being disappointed.

I liked the clothes, but I found that several items in each fix were more expensive than my set price ranges, making each fix very expensive. When I brought this up with Stitch Fix, they said that their stylists are encouraged to include a "splurge" item (which means their business model is designed to push you to buy things over your stated limits). I received my latest fix and because I was travelling was not able to pick up my fix for several days. In my fix, there was a ridiculously overpriced item I found for 68% cheaper online. When I complained, Stitch Fix said they would price match if I sent them the information, which I promptly did. Then, after THEY offered to price match, they denied me because it was more than 7 days since the box was delivered. I would have actually liked to continue receiving fixes, but after this experience I decided to cancel my subscription, I felt like they only wanted to wring as much money out of me as they could, instead of providing quality consistent service over time--so they lost this client, and I recommend that you not subscribe unless you really don't mind being turned upside down and shaken until all your money falls out of your pockets.

I was startled when I came across this service. As with everything else I plan to spend money on, I read the reviews. Well, some liked it, most not. I'm really tiny, 4'11", 95 lbs. & not skinny. I used to be a clothes horse, shopped in all the petite specialty shops & came home loving my purchases. Well, those stores are gone now & thanks to VANITY SIZING I travelled from one end of a huge mall to the other in search of clothing to wear to an out of town school reunion. I returned w/one blouse from Penny's. End of an era. I almost didn't go-I was panicking. Finally found one dressy & one casual dressy dress in Annie Sez. Try to find size 5 shoes. I have to buy kids sneakers! Payless has a good selection of size 5 shoes not expensive. I don't buy online-period. I cannot imagine having people pick out a box of stuff at high prices to send me. I can get size OP & OOP pants in the Gap or Lofts locally & I'm no OP. My size was alway 3 jr petite. Was able to buy for years until VANITY SIZES. There really are people out there that don"t need fake size labels in their clothing-they need real sizes that fit.

I'm retired, don't need a lot but all my life I was able to find beautiful clothing, reasonable prices even in a boutique and now it's a nightmare. Doubt if a service like this could ever find anything for me.

Sad
November 3, 2017

Really enjoyed working at stitchfix for almost a year and I rarely had any comolaints, if any at all. But I do have one major complaint I can't seem to stress enough. There needs to be a legitimate 5 minute grace period in the beginning of the day. It is very hard to get into work at exactly 8 am every morning when the building I was working at always had some type of construction going on near by, the parking lot became more crowded and impossible to find parking, or even simple things we can't control like traffic. I think its ridiculous that clocking in at 8 is considered late when your shift doesn't start until 8. You cannot tell me that 7:55 to 8 am is my "5 minute grace period". I am not being "graced" with anything. And I am still being marked tardy for clocking in at 8! I was let go just recently (a month before I give birth) and I cannot stress how much stress this put on me while I'm in such a vulnerable stage in my life. Nobody wants to hire the pregnant girl. But the pregnant girl still needs money to make sure her family is taken care of. I am in total shock that I have been fired for clocking in at 8 am - 8:02 am a couple of times. I can't believe they decided that they decided 2 minutes is too late and worth firing me over. I'm just shocked and disgusted. I hope to find another soon but I also hope that someone who can make a change sees this and tries to implement a a legit 5 minute grace period in the future at the warehouses.

Told my stylist I did not want to show my arms or to send shorts. Guess what I got? Sleeveless tops and shorts. Also very cheap clothing at a premium price. Cancelled immediately.

Satisfied customer
September 5, 2020

I've been satisfied although not ecstatic about my fixes. However, I find that after about 4-5 fixes and keeping about 15 of the items that these tend to be my go-to clothes. Yes, I've purchased a few misses ( the quality didn't hold up or I kept that 5th item I wasn't sure about) and they haven't been consistently good, however, I like that I can choose when to get a fix and their new options for buying clothes that are suggested for you directly. I just ordered 3 items that I would have had a hard time finding in my usual shopping places. My main complaint right now is that they don't show me any pants, so most of what I have from them are tops. But I am hard to fit in pants. Note that I am not patient with going out and searching for clothes. If you are, then this may not be right for you. But I find that they show things that I would not necessarily have picked out on a rack and they end up looking good on me, so I'm happy with the service. Yes, it's more expensive than doing the searching in stores myself and buying it on sale, but part of what they are selling is the service so I don't have to spend that time.

Do NOT use Stitchfix
January 4, 2018

I received a very generous gift card for stitch fix and was looking forward to using it. First hiccup was when I couldnt reach a live person to speak with regarding questions I had that werent answered on their site. When I emailed them, I received a canned response that someone would get back with me and so far-nothing. There is a reason companies like this dont have a phone number., they obviously dont care what customers think nor do they want to speak with them about their concerns. Secondly I received a GIFT and was told I still needed to enter MY credit card information before an account could be set up! Unacceptable. I did not reach out to this company and do not want to authorize them to use MY credit card; only the gift card. So now what do I do with the gift card? I dont want to let the sender know as it would appear ungrateful however stitchfix seems like a very unscrupulous company and its policies are definitely not consumer friendly. I can only hope that with enough negative reviews they will eventually put their out of business sign up

A sad mess!
November 15, 2019

The clothes really are not very attractive nor the best quality. Customer service is NOT HELPFUL. Just go to the store! Smaller stores have people that will help. NOT WORTH THE MONEY! Save yourselves and AVOID!

I do most of my shopping online so I thought I would give it a try.
First of all, I had a family tragedy just 2 days after I signed up and created my profile. I then went to my Stitch Fix app to cancel my first shipment and my entire subscription because of financial reasons. I found no way to cancel the subscription but did cancel my shipment. Next thing I know I get the notice my first fix had shipped.
So I get my box and opened it up. I found that they did a satisfactory job of styling me based on my profile preferences. However I was appalled when I looked at the prices on the invoice. For this reason I wouldn't have purchased anything anyway. Some of the items were clearly second hand at brand new designer prices. I would never pay these prices in any circumstance.
Since I could not afford the $20 styling fee at the moment due to unforeseen circumstances I needed to cancel and get that refunded. I found no way to do this online or on their app. I did easily find their customer service phone number in a Google search. Amazingly I got right through to a very friendly person on the phone. I explained my situation briefly and she said it was no problem to close my account and refund my styling fee. Now this just happened today mind you, so if I later find I was still charged I will post a follow up review.
My rating of 2 is for the service itself, being way overpriced for used or cheap quality clothing. As for the customer service I received I was very happy with the end result.
It's a fun idea but they really milk the money out of you if you for the subscription and their prices.

Love this Company
December 30, 2022

I just received my Stitch Fix box today. I was so surprised. I expected to get at least a few things, I wouldn't like but I loved everything in the box! They totally got my style. One blouse, I looked at and thought "oh that's not really something I'd wear" but I tried it on and it looks amazing on me. Another sweater I love but it's not a cor I'd normally choose. Tried it on and was pleased to see that I look good in that color. I did include a note to the stylist previously detailing my hair color, eye color and skin tone to help them choose colors that would look good on me. The clothing quality is very good and the brands of the items I received are all higher end brand names. Yes, I paid a little more than I would if I was buying from a local department store and shopping sale racks but I feel I got better quality items and wasn't left choosing from a rack of clothing no one else wanted. Plus I love the convenience of having the items delivered to my door. I'm on auto shipments and I often forget about it so receiving my shipment is always a pleasant surprise, both when I find the box on my porch and when I open it! I will continue to use Stitch Fix as a little reward to myself.

You pay $20 for a "stylist" when really they're using a pretty inaccurate algorithm to style you. They don't take into account the style quizzes you complete and no one reads comments you leave.

Bad customer service
November 1, 2021

If you would had asked me a month ago what my stitch fix experience was I would tell you 5 stars! They have honestly nailed my style every single time and the shipping is AMAZING. It's hit or miss depending on the stylist you receive but you can always keep your old one! This past month I had the worst possible thing happen. I bought a sweater through free styles option. I waited over a week and a half and still no sweater. I reach out to customer support and they inform me that I can have another sweater sent out but they have to charge me for the sweater. Making the replacement sweater just me buying the sweater again. I was informed that they would watch my shipping information and eventually mark it lost and refund my original sweater. Maybe I'm just used to amazons impeccable customer service but this was not a proper solution. I requested that they send a replacement sweater and if the other one ever made it to my house I would gladly send it back. Since they include a return label in ever package they send out it wouldn't be an inconvenience to them whatsoever.

I tried the stitch fix for men and my experience was not good and a waste of my time and money. All I received was 2 long sleeve shirts that I couldn't fit into, even after I told them I wear an extra large and have broad shoulders and muscular arms, so they should of put that into consideration if the close you send fit smaller. They also sent 2 polos, which were fitted and not bad but at 55.00 each. I looked online and found same shirts for half the price. Lastly I received a hoodie which I know I put that I don't wear, I tried it on anyways and super tight. It's as if these close were clearance at one point and now they are reselling. Please do your research if you choose to buy an item because you'll probably find it cheaper online. The stylist fee should not be charged on first box or any. Other similar companies don't have that fee. If I would of kept the 5 items it would of been 190.00 plus tax which is ridiculous to me for the items which were made In China I believe. Waste of 20 bucks and time

Somehow this company had TWO different email address for me, and they were sending me double shipments! This was so frustrating because you have to ship the clothes back within 3 days, if you dont, you get charged for the whole box of clothes, like $200. Who has time for that? You cant contact them via phone, they have NO CUSTOMER SERVICE! YOU HAVE TO EMAIL THEM. THIS IS SO FRUSTATING! THEY MUST BE BASED IN CHINA, THEY WAY THEY ACT! What company does not allow you to call them so that you can explain, and resolve your issues, uggh! I had to go Through all the trouble of getting a whole new bank account because they are like GHOSTS!
BTW, I have since moved from Cali already been 8 months, and still dealing with this company! Now, my bank is fighting them for me, I think they deserve a class action!
I really liked the clothes they sent to me, but unless you are an email person, dont do it, it is just to difficult and expensive. I didnt know who to contact to get results, uggh!

Once was enough for me
October 30, 2018

I thought I would give this site a try. Big mistake. I very specifically put the price range of "as low as possible". For starters the quality of the outfit that I received was nice but definitely did not surpass the quality of anything that I couldn't pick up myself at Target. I received a pair of jeans, a scarf, a KNIT Blazer, a sleeveless blouse, and a Jersey knit long sleeve hooded t-shirt. The total cost of the outfit was $278! The jeans alone were $88! The KNIT blazer was $68. When I went back to the Stitch fix website to indicate I wanted to return the items and it asked for the reason why I listed that the price was too high it then prompted me to revise my profile to indicate that I desired lower-priced items. I had already selected the lowest possible price category! Interestingly enough, Stitch fix does not have the option to leave general feedback for customers to see. You can only leave feedback for your "stylist" to see. So unhappy customers have to go elsewhere, such as this website, to let everybody else know to steer clear of stitchfix.com. I certainly will not be placing any future orders with them. Lesson learned!

I heard about stitch fix a couple years ago, but just ordered my first "fix" last month. They were behind so I didn't actually get it for 3 or 4 weeks after I placed my request. I specifically said I didn't like certain things and that I needed dresses for work... so they sent me two short dresses that are casual, not work appropriate, one I could just barely get away with wearing to work, the other a hideous floral cowl neck thing that looked like a tunic, not a dress. I also asked for no green and no crew necks and sure enough, I got something with a lot of green and something else with a crew neck! I kept one thing just because I didn't want to lose my $20 and it fit OK, even though I would never have paid the price they asked for the item I kept when shopping for myself. It was synthetic (as was pretty much everything they sent me), too. Also, I realized when I went to wear it that it had stray threads hanging all over the outside and inside seams. So tacky! I did select their cheapest option, but their prices aren't cheap - just the clothes. They did throw in one more expensive thing, a sweater, that also wasn't good enough quality for the price. So I gave it a try, but no more stitch fixes for me. There doesn't seem to be a way to delete your account, which is worrisome. I am going to try to delete my credit card info from it at least!

I tried to like it
August 27, 2015

Honestly, it was exciting to get in the mail and it is very convenient to be able to try things on at home. I also felt like it gave me the opportunity to try things I wouldn't normally wear or pick out for myself at the store to try on.

That being said, they don't really pay attention to your style profile at all and tend to send the same kinds of clothes each time. I've ordered 5 and the stylist never improved, I ended up sending most things back because it didn't fit or was completely opposite from what I had requested. I even had a board attached and was extremely specific in what I was looking for. Not sure what that was all about.

They also tend to send a pair of black skinny jeans or leggings (despite my request for no skinny anything) with every fix. The shirts they send are also on the cheaper side as far as quality goes (with a designer price), mostly see-through and even if you put that you like figure fitting they will more than likely be loose and on the shorter side.

So I guess if you like loose fitting, polyester, see-through shirts and black skinny pants you'll love stitch fix. It's like having someone go shopping for you at Tjmaxx but then upping the price of everything they bought by at least $30 and not getting you anything that you asked for.

It seems like they just have random pieces laying around that they're trying to get rid of and then send you a card to try to make it sound like it fits with your request. "Oh you're going to the beach? Here's some black leggings that would look so cute in the sand".

I gave it a try. Not for me I guess.

Overview

The company has garnered mixed feedback, with some customers appreciating the quality and fit of the clothing, particularly for specific styles that resonate with their personal tastes. However, a significant number of reviews highlight serious concerns regarding customer service, particularly the difficulty in canceling subscriptions, unresponsive support, and billing issues. Many customers express frustration over receiving items that do not align with their requests, leading to dissatisfaction with the overall shopping experience. This disconnect between customer expectations and service delivery suggests a need for improved communication and operational efficiency to enhance customer satisfaction.
