The overall reputation of the company reflects significant dissatisfaction among customers, primarily due to poor customer service and escalating costs. While some users acknowledge stable service performance at times, many express frustration with frequent outages, billing inconsistencies, and unresponsive support. Common complaints include difficulties in service cancellations, lack of transparency regarding equipment ownership, and inadequate resolution of issues. The sentiment is largely negative, with customers feeling undervalued and misled. This feedback indicates a pressing need for the company to improve its customer service practices and address billing transparency to enhance customer satisfaction.

My cable box suddenly stopped working. Spectrum said it had "stopped communicating with them".
Spectrum tech came and replaced my Samsung box with its Spectrum brand. It has no clock, no caller ID log, and is simply inferior. I suspect they disabled the box I had so they could replace it with their own brand. A total ripoff.
I rely on my home internet/wifi connection to work from home. I do not get paid when I do not have a connection. I have been with spectrum for 1.5+ years. Seems it goes down at least 3-5 times per month for 30 minutes up to 5 hours at a time. I have had 3 routers and 2 modems from them. The ONLY reason I am still with spectrum is because they are the main provider in my apartment complex and the surrounding community. Sucks
Spectrum Internet is a sham. We decided to go with another internet company for faster internet and a better rate. However, we still had to pay for bill which was fine. But the bill was for an entire month of service when we only had Spectrum for 3 maybe 4 days out of that month. On numerous occasions we tried to talk to Customer Service about the extra charges. While waiting on them to call back and tell us if it will be resolved and recalculated, they send us a letter threatening to send us into Collections! We have been hung up on or "lost connection" on the phone. Our over charged bill has not been fixed or recalculated. Nor do they plan to fix it. One Star Rating is too good for these people.
Spectrum's $45/mo TV "deal" actually costs over $82/mo after the $19 broadcast surcharge fee (as of April 2022), $9.99 receiver, $4.99 DVR service, and $3.87 in other taxes and fees. The broadcast surcharge already increased from $15 just the month before. They tried to charge $13/mo for the DVR but had told me it was $5 when I'd signed up, so I had to call and get them to fix it. All those costs are for just one receiver on one TV. Spectrum's streaming app doesn't work on older smart TVs or any Firestick. There was also a $19.99 fee to turn on the TV service. All that not-so-great promotional pricing ends after 12 months and then adds another $40 or so every month! They did not inform me about the $10 receiver charge when I signed up. They also sent me the wrong receiver and I had to go to the store, wait in line, and deal with a rather gruff associate just to get what I needed to complete the set-up. Different associates gave different answers to identical questions, like if the receiver supports picture-in-picture (was told it did, but the new ones actually do not). The receiver and DVR interface are sub-par, especially when navigating between recorded shows and trying to fast-forward. The recordings cut off the last minute of each show unless you set them to run over (and risk causing a conflict with the next scheduled recording). The DVR interface overall has weird navigation issues like when you delete or just want to hop back into the menu - it's bad design, not at all user-friendly. I canceled this service two months after signing up for it and it took around 45 minutes after being on hold to get someone, then being put on hold by that person, being asked a million questions and having to keep saying "I want to cancel the service" seriously over and over again. They tried to give me magical new deals but I frankly do not trust this company or anything that anyone from it promises.
When I first signed up I made it a point to ask how long this price would be good for, I was told for 12 months. I asked how much it would go up after that and was told $15. Well it went up $20 after the first year, just went up another $6 from just a month ago and is set to go up another $45 after the 2nd year of service. Now they're telling me that I can only get my bill lower by losing what little services I have. I will be paying over $250 for basic TV and Internet. They are such a rip off and liers.
Do not buy the Samsung 22s Ultra from Spectrum. I bought one from them and kept overheating and said critical warning then they Factory reset it and put it back on the Shelf. And then charged me a $50 restocking fee. For a phone that was completely defective.
Last night a spectrum tech put in a new DVR and not even 24 hrs later it no longer works, my TV kept glitching so I unplugged it to reboot and the whole system froze and now I have to wait until tomorrow morning for another tech to show up and fix the problem, my telly is the 2nd thing that keeps me happy at my old age and paying over $240 a month I should be getting better service.
This company bills you a month ahead even if you use their product for a single day. They charge you $5 to pay for anything over the phone, charge you reconnect fees, and late fees monthly due to this precharge which adds up to $20 extra every month. They have already lost in court twice due to this practice and still are appealling to the Supreme Court where they will undoubtedly lose again. They are devious swindlers and should be out of business entirely.
I had Spectrum service in Texas. I cancelled and moved to North Carolina more than 6 month ago. We started new Spectrum service in our new home. I paid my last bill to zero balance before leaving and returned my equipment to a store in person. When the service agent received the equipment they dropped it on the ground and said ok you are good. I did not get a receipt nor did I get a final bill for money owed. I got a credit alert today from Experian that said I have a new collection account from Sunrise Credit Service for $417 dollars. I called them and they said that they could not help me other than to pay the debt or contact Spectrum. I called Spectrum because this was a surprise to me since I have never received a bill, late notice, or notification for intention to report unpaid bill balance to collection agency. I spoke with a Spectrum service provider who 1st told me that the collection was because I hadn't returned my equipment. I told them I had and the agent said she would need to do a equipment return search and get back to me. I was not happy with that because I knew that I returned the equipment in person. She put me on hold after voicing my dissatisfaction and came back to tell me they found my returned equipment. She then said oh the collection was from a unpaid bill. I told her I have never received a bill or late notice and that I continue to have Spectrum service. I asked her shouldn't they have given me a final bill if I owed money at time of equipment return. The service agent replied "Yes they should have." I once again voiced my dissatisfaction with Spectrum's business practice. I paid them amount owed and told them that this should be removed form my credit report because I cancelled my service from prior address over 6 months ago and I was never made aware that I had a outstanding bill. She gave me a confirmation number for my payment and a ticket number for reporting back to the credit agency. She told me that it would take 4-6 weeks which is totally unacceptable for someone who takes pride in managing and maintaining their credit. I have also disputed this on Experian credit website. If this is not removed then I will report to better business bureau and seek legal remedy. I am very upset at these corporations who provide their loyal customers with poor service and communication. They just send you to a collection agency. I hope the credit bureau will see what this company is doing and provide protection for the consumer. I will be looking for another service provider when my new home that I am building is complete.
Called to speak to a representative and now spectrum wants to charge you $5.00 just to talk to a representative don't get it. It's the worst service ever. Bunch of thieves. Over price and shotty channels. Will be going to a different cable company
My $49.99 tv and $44.99 internet install was scheduled between 5 and 6p, tech shows up looks at the poles and tells me he can't do install I have to have a "drop" put in and he doesn't do that and needs to find someone who can do it or find the cable to do it.
Customer service calls me telling me I asked for a reschedule... WHAT! I told the csr that the tech didn't have the material to complete the job so he's rescheduling not me and I'd like to have my service installed tonight!
The tech calls me back stating he's waiting on someone to open warehouse well then 9pm rolled around and he's still waiting. That's when I called to reschedule because I didn't want to be waiting till midnight for an install.
I fought to get a next day install and then came nightmare #2. This tech came with attitude and an obvious chip and very short. I wish that I would have taken a picture of the rat nest of wires, sheetrock dust and ladder damage on the side of my house. At the end of the install he handed me the remote and shot out the door never explaining the how this service works.
Several days later I received my bill and find that I was charged for $14.99 for "voice" and $21.99 for "other charges"... OTHER CHARGES... WTF! After the csr bellyached about removing the VOICE charges I then find out that the OTHER CHARGES cannot be removed without removing TV... remove TV. That's what I wanted to start with so why mislead us and say that TV is $70 with your bull$#*! "OTHER CHARGES" instead of $49 as advertised?
This is the original #baitandswitch, #gotcha or #fu because to keep my service I have to eat the extra $21 surcharge that was never mentioned when I ordered my service.
We went to the store to try to get our bill down the employee, Nyliann Ramos was so helpful she worked really hard to help us and because of her we stayed with spectrum she is a asset to the company we really enjoyed working with her
I went into a location to cancel my service due to getting ready to move out of the area. They took my equipment and said I was all set. Three days later I get a bill for a full month. Upon using the chat service and talking with a representative, it turns out I missed the end of my billing cycle by 3 days so I have to pay a full amount. If I had known that I wouldn't have canceled then so I could have kept streaming HBO among other shows. When I asked about being able to watch the rest of the month I was told that I would have to start a new service to do that. Very disappointed in this company after being a customer for a long time.
Overall, I find Spectrum internet service to be reliable and speedy. My problem is the charge.
Spectrum has been running television commercials offering internet service for $49.99. A customer for decades, I am paying $74,99 per month for the same service.
A print examination of the conditions attached to the offer (which is virtually impossible on the TV screen) reveals that only individuals who have not subscribed to any Spectrum services for at least 30 days qualify.
I know this is a standard, albeit deceptive, business practice to get new subscribers, but it shows a callous disregard for the loyalty of existing customers. With lower-priced 5G internet service on the horizon, Spectrum will soon no longer be the only game in town.
Spectrum should give equal consideration to retention and expansion if it plans to remain competitive..
I had the simple task of returning a failed cable box in the Spectrum store. I observed many customers interaction with the cocky minimum wage counter jockeys. Spectrum has the only cable service in town…. They can get away with the lack of professional service in cable tv. The only way to hurt spectrum is to not purchase their cell phone plans. Their plans are decent but don't fall for it. Money talks. Let's send the message.
How can I be billed for 30 days of service when I disconnected 10 days into the billing cycle on April 25th?! Your prices continue to go up, then we have to call and and play games to get it down where it already was! I've had the service for many years and might add that Ive never even be late on a payment! I finally decide to disconnect service because I'm tired of the hassel and you tell me where to drop off the equipment but fail to mention that I will be billed for the entire month regardless of when the service ends?! What a rip off!
Nothing but trouble out of these people now price getting higher and higher service getting crummier and
Crummier, all the time and service tech hanging up on you and heaven forebode you need someone to come out that is nothing but a big lying session, best to save your money and put it on something you can use like satellite and a hot spot for internet, unless you like the run around weekly
Horrible customer service. Only wanted internet. The charged me for home phone spent 2dys calling only to hold for more then 50 minutes each time and then they just hang up. Got that resolved in 2dys only to see charges on my bank statement that they now had me paying for spectrum tv and mobile. Another days to finally get someone who knew what they were doing and removed all bogus services I never asked for. Out $84 and no one can tell me if I'll be credited. They say 14dy money back guarantee. I called within 6 days but still being charged. Never signed up for auto pay but was told there was a one time fee for internet installation. That is how they got my bank info….
Ever since Spectrum took over Time Warner internet, the quality and customer service went down, down, down, down, down. Speed was both consistently inconsistent, and consistently far lower than we were supposed to be getting. Their equipment at the utility pole, and the connection indoors was prone to going bad and we had them out at least once a year "fixing" the connection. The one thing I'll give them credit for was not trying to blame us for any of the issues we had. Phone support was terrible, though. They were clearly reading from a script when doing troubleshooting - expected at first level support, but the higher up level of support staff was no improvement, if they were even a higher level as they claimed.
We were never so happy to dump them and go to an actually dependable competitor, which incidentally had 5x the speed (reliable speed) for about another $10/month. When we cancelled and returned the modem, the person receiving the modem more or less confirmed they would never match the speed and price of the company we switched to. It seems like they have enough suckers that they couldn't care less about trying to offer a decent deal to keep a customer.
I will recommend spectrum anytime. Great service, fast internet. Especially if you get the technician Brad he will explain every detail you need to know about spectrum very smart. Thanks spectrum for sending Brad our way.
Answer: They do not care about customer retention. That being said. I have to believe it is the poorest business model I have ever come in contact with.
Answer: They could give a shit - they create a monopoly in the area and do whatever they want - raise the rate, intimidate, and are very rude and no help to customers!
Answer: You're smart to stay with FIOS. Spectrum is the worst cable company around. They're very expensive and your bill will start creeping up every other month without any explanation. Avoid Spectrum!
