Spent weeks compiling a photo book for my son's 21st. Ordered in plenty of time. Did not arrive at all. Still waiting. A very difficult company to discover how to communicate with. Only through my own investigation did I discover that it had been returned to sender on two occasions by Chronopost, insufficient packaging the first time and the second, address illegible. This time according to parcel tracking it's stuck in "no man's land" and its status hasn't changed for days. Have been promised various things as goodwill gestures but I want my photo book. So very disappointed to say the least.
Difficult process and poor service
I decided to have a canvas created of our Dachshund when he was a puppy for my partner on mother's day. I chose photobox and began the process. I am reasonably okay with tech but struggled with the site where it was impossible to place my picture where I wanted it without cropping my dogs head, ears, feet etc. I accepted an image to check how it would look and it looked fine so I ordered it. When the item arrived I was surprised to see parts of the head ears and feet etc all chopped. I complained to photobox attaching pictures of what I wanted and what I got. After taking an unreasonably long time to respond they basically said that it was my fault and they were not prepared to do anything.
I have been using Photobox for some years. Once you have got used to the software it becomes more time consuming to change to another provider and you don't want to lose access to the books you have already created. I have experienced problems like the software locking and then losing all my hours of work but they generally delivered on time and have a reasonably good product so I stuck with them. Today I went in to complete a book I started with my mum before Christmas. She is 93 and has leukaemia, I was so determined to get the book of her family treasures completed before her health deteriorated, I most likely ignored messages that told me Flash Player was ending. Also, why did it matter that Flash Player was ending what has it got to do with me. It means I will not use the old version of Photobox so I will move on for the next book I create. I do remember seeing a Tweet to a question about Flash Player saying something like "we have you Debbie ". I thought this meant your company had a plan, so it's going to be Okay. So imagine how shocked I was to find there was no plan. I no longer had access to mums book and hours of typing as she told me her stories. Her birthday is next week and they are going to send me a hard copy by I will have to type it all in again as well as find, upload and position tens of pictures. I also planned to go back and add dates and places to all the books I have completed while my grandchildren were growing up, now I have finished work. All these are all now inaccessible and I am unable to see any of the titles. 100's of hours of work. Unbelievable.
I have created many books with Photobox over the years and have found them to be a good company to deal with and the books were always so easy to make. Now, because of problems with Flash, they have created a new design studio which is just terrible! I have paid for two books which I still need to create, but I am really hating the limitations of the new studio - nothing is straight forward. Even giving your book a title is not easy, the colours and designs are the worst ever and the whole process is just incredibly frustrating and is taking me twice as long. After I have finished these two projects I will be forced to look elsewhere to produce my photobooks in future, which is a great shame, but I cannot get on with this new studio. Sorry Photobox but it is just awful.
They've updated the photobox program (their contract with google has expired or something). It will now take literally 2x as long to do my books... you can't put text with paragraph spaces so every time you want a new block, you have to create a new text block. You can't have pages with just text (unless you
And WORSE, I spent MONTHS creating a cookbook for my children and friends. I've been told I can't edit it. I personalize each one. I have ordered 14 of them (160 pages each) and planned on ordering at least another 20 over time but now it's all in the garbage. I have been a loyal customer since they started photobox making many books a year and now it's just garbage.
Really bad quality, some had heads missing, cropped incorrectly, terrible colour, out of focus and awful customer service. I always use FreePrints and have NO problems at all. Excellent quality every time. Will never use photobox again.
Terrible service. I ordered four large aluminium wall arts as a christmas present. When we went to mount them we found three couldn't be mounted. The two portrait images could only be mounted on their side and one of the landscape prints could only be mounted upsidedown. After a month of being fobbed off by their customer service I had to raise a PayPal dispute. Finally several weeks after that the only resolution I am offered is to return the prints at my expense for a refund. Basically I am paying to store their mistakes for just over a month and I have failed to give someone a christmas present. I wish we could give negative stars. I will go to a proper company next time.
The quality has gone down ( to increase profit margins?). Delivery times are being missed and customer service are helpless. Photobox seems past its best.
Item overdue by 5 days. Photobox blamed Hermes. Hermes saying they've never received item. Told by Photobox to phone on Christmas Eve if still missing did a refund Item was from grandchildren to someone who has been isolating for most of the year- absolutely rubbish!
I order 2 photo blocks for Christmas presents last week and was told that by Standard Delivery they would reach me by 22nd December. Yesterday I received a mail saying they would be delivered in the 7th January. When I contacted customer support an employee called Eldi informed me "Photobox need your understanding in cases of Xmas, New Years, and Corona Virus situations". I actually couldn't believe my eyes as I wasn't aware that COVID-19 was responsible for my delivery not being ready in time for Christmas, and that it was my responsibility to make allowances for this, despite submitting my order on the 13th December.! When I requested a refund, I was told it was not possible as my order was out for delivery, and was told I could have €5.99 delivery fees refunded. I have no need for these photo blocks now and will need to buy replacement presents. I will never use Photobox again and would advise no one else to.

Christmas gift...
Very disappointed after spending a lot of time preparing a photobook for a special occasion, paid for express delivery, item has not arrived. Got an email to say it was on its way, but when I called they said it's still being printed - meaning I had no notice to sort this out before the event. Gutted, will never use this company again.
I ordered a 1000 piece puzzle from this company with a photo of my partner and my dog on it for a small stocking filler for Christmas. I received a 24 piece puzzle with a picture of some random bloke and kid on the beach. Add to that the fact it was the poorest quality and cost £ 30. Stay well away from these thieves. If it was possible I wouldnt even rate them 1 star.
Ordered on the 30th of Novemeber to get a print in time for Christmas, I spent £20. The print never arrived and now i don't have a Christmas present. After contacting photobox on the 15th, they said they couldn't offer me any help until the 22nd of December. No reprint so that i might receive in time, and no offer of refund so i can rebuy somewhere else. I made my order on the 30th to get ahead of the Christmas rush! Frankly i think this was terrible service when they could clearly could have fixed the issue in time for Christmas. Definitely wont be using them again as i now understand they are one of the poorer quality prints services in the UK.
Having just lost my dear old dog, I wanted to frame some photos in her memory.
I ordered from my Samsung tablet three beautiful photos in 7x5
When they came, one was ok, one was too dark, but the 3rd one which was my favourite, only had half of my dog in it, and her ears were missing. How can they pass a photo like that, I mean surely someone must check them as they are printed. Who would want a picture of half their dog.
I have sent an email complaint with copy of photo in question, waiting to hear. I wash i had read some of these reviews before ordering. I would advise people not to waste their money with this company.
Very poor service.
Spent a day putting together a special photo book for my first anniversary.
I checked a few days after ordering to make sure it would arrive on time - I was told it would.
It didn't. In fact, it's still not arrived, despite an arrival date of 31st Oct.
They left no time to make alternative arrangements.
Offered no refund, despite admitting that they messed up big time.
The gift is now null and void as the time has passed.
We won't be using Photobox ever again and we suggest reading about how they don't take responsiblity when they mess up your special orders and look at alternative companies.
Ordered a photo book for a special occasion. Two weeks after the birthday it's still not arrive ( ordered in plenty of time)
Contracted them for them to say they can't do anything until after 40 days
It's all in the title. I spent an hour trying to use a really sticky UI and after finally getting it all sorted I was rejected at my checkout on three occasions. I couldn't understand this so I got the on-line chat enabled and that was when the helpful agent (well done Fiona!) told me that the cards are out of stock. I suggested they put an advert on their website advising potential clients of this and also that they mobilise their materials supply chain partners better in terms of paper and board deliveries. I am not sure if this advice was taken, but all in all a wasted hour and a half - poor service, poor quality and I will sadly neither use nor recommend this service.
It seems a real shame as other users have clearly had good experiences but I can only go with what I encountered and it was dreadful and a total waste of my time. Happy Lockdown 2 Photobox!
I spent hours creating a photobook for my son's 21st and paid for the express delivery option which photobox have chosen to ignore. The book is still in printing status and my son's birthday was yesterday, I would not have ordered from them if there website was honest about lead times.
When I rang customer service on the alleged day of delivery they were insincere and unhelpful.
Look for another company I'm sure they are many, wish I'd done my research.
I ordered a picture and selected landscape, then zoomed in on the photo. The software reverted the picture back to portrait without notifying me.
Customer service are useless and refused to help.
Answer: Same here with Grandparents Christmas present- of all years to have to hand over an IOU! Will use a more reputable company on future.
Answer: You may choose 5cm x 5cm (Medium) or 7cm x 7cm (Large)
Answer: They weren't especially strong magnets. I think more for decoration vs function, they might hold a light piece of paper.
Answer: Not sure I only used when I had a 4. I thought it was good quality though.
