I previously bought heartguard meds from Smith and Foster that has sold out to Petco. While their prices are the cheapest around, they are not worth it because one can spend days trying to fix the order and nothing gets done. Their website for pharmacy products is very poor. It asked for my vets name, but would not allow me to change it to the current vet. And when I called the company saying that I could not change the name, they supposedly changed it for me, but then later, I found it was not changed and had to repeat this process a number of times before they made the change. Even then, the order never got placed. They keep saying that the vet failed to respond, but they can't tell you how the vet failed to respond. I got a copy of the fax that my vet sent to them more than once, but they can't find it or they found it, but there is a problem with it and they can't tell me what the problem specifically is. My vet talked to the Petco people on the phone and these idiots still would not send out my order. I asked to speak to a supervisor and I was assured that my order would be processed or I would at least get some feedback by call or email and nothing happened. I dealt with people who mostly seemed sympathetic to the problem but were helpless in dealing with the process. One total bozo rep kept reading from a script that did not pertain to what I was telling him. In the end, no one's time is worth it trying to deal with this pathetic excuse for an online business department.
Let me say they are from the Asia not even form the USA BS I GOT PUPPY PADS AND 2 bags of treats for dogs they took sooo long to get to me 4 weeks I called we're is my stuff and they are RUDE ASIAN people nasty people they hung up 4 times and finally got someone who helped me the ones that hung up should be fired the one that helped me should be a manager I WILL NEVER USE ONLINE AGAIN I WILL GO TO STORE INSTEAD
The company they use for prescription food is a joke.They keep losing the prescription & deny they don't have it

I love our Petco. The staff is amazing, we get our dogs food there once a monht, and she always gets excited when we get to the parking lot and go in! They have good sales and good coupons too.
Before I moved to where I'm living now, I always got my pet supplies at PetSmart. Anytime I had issues they were extremely helpful and responsive and gave me refunds on things whether I had a receipt or not. I have two cats and for about two years had three aquariums full of healthy tropical fish, live plants and ornaments. Then when I moved, because there wasn't a PetSmart nearby I was forced to go to Petco. I had heard many derogatory things about them but hoped for the best. No issues with any of the cat items I bought. However, I purchased one 5-gallon aquarium with several fish, shrimp, snails, live plants, and ornaments. Several times the fish died, and I had to return them for others. The plants also kept dying, despite the LED lights I was assured would keep them healthy. Four months after I bought the aquarium, it started leaking and warped the shelf it was sitting on. I made some videos to show the management and was told by the "fish expert" to bring back the whole aquarium water, fish, and all and maybe the management would give another of equal value. When I told the management that this was unacceptable, they told me that since the tank was four months old they couldn't give me a refund or replacement since it was past the 30-day guarantee. When I got upset they tried to shush me saying I needed to be more respectful of them. Petco's "expert" is an amateur and management is only interested in making a quick buck instead of giving good customer service. This review is my way of saying "Respect this Petco! Thanks for wasting hundreds of my hard-earned dollars and ruining my furniture!"
We purchased two bags of Nature's Variety Instinct Raw food on January 30 for over $120. I noticed my dog getting sick after feeding him the chicken. So, I opened the second bag of beef, which was freeze dried to a block. I checked the expiration date and to my horror I found both bags were EXTREMELY expired, with dates of May 5,2017 and the other July 6,2017. WE are in FEBRUARY 2018! Why is that even still on the shelf? You should be ashamed of yourself PETCO! Apparently PETCO does not care about DOGS. There is no nutritional value at this point. Our dog is like our child. This is disgusting. DON/T SHOP AT PETCO if you want quality food.
Despite numerous emails and phone calls to Petco corporate, I still have no resolution and no one has called me yet! The only email response I get is that someone will get back to me with 24-28 hours. It's been well over that... I guess Petco is as concerned about their customers as the pets they are so supposed to serve... zero percent!
On 2/12/2018, I had to call my awesome credit card company, Capital One, who re-contacted Petco again. We conducted a conference call and stayed on the phone with Petco for 20 minutes because all the escalation people were busy! Then Petco tried to hassle me because I no longer had the receipt. You sold me expired pet food that made my dog and sick and I have the charge on my credit card, are you kidding me? The Capital One representative was pretty shocked as well. All I was asking for was a refund. We disputed the charge. NEVER AGAIN PETCO, NEVER AGAIN.
I had took my Bishon to petco to get him groom, stated I did not want him shaved, what happen the groomer shaved him, if you know the breed they are suppose to get scissor cut, I will never go back to Petco not even for their products, I am so heart broken that my puppy looks like a puppy that he has been starved and has never had anything to eat, the groomer needs to be fired
I buy medication from Fosters and Smith for my dog that has a pancreatic enzyme deficiency. That company is now owned by Petco. I recently placed my order and selected standard shipping 4-5 business days. After 4-5 business days I didn't receive the medication. After checking their website, it said I wouldn't receive it for another WEEK! We've run out of the medication and now my dog is getting sick. My vet is at Banfield Veterinary Hospital located within Petco. How much easier could this be?! The Petco website customer representative wasn't willing to take any measures beyond taking a 2nd order and charging me for expedited shipment. Not willing to contact the vet directly to speed up approval and shipping of the medication. Also, not willing to credit me for extra shipping costs. The 2nd order is only going to arrive a day earlier than the original order. But with my dog getting sick I'll take that extra day at the very least. I don't have an issue with Banfield or my vet - they are great! I would highly encourage people to find another supplier for your pets medication! If you are concerned about reliable service, shipping delivery as promised and your pet's health avoid Fosters & Smith/ Petco for your beloved pet's medication!
The store in New York- their prices are a bit high, and the store offerings aren't vast. The service was excellent, and I would certainly recommend it.

I have had a repeat delivery for at least a year now and in my latest shipment totaling $45, there was an item of cat grass that cost $6.64. This did not germinate and so I expected an easy experience getting that small amount back of all the hundreds of dollars I've spent on Petco's Repeat Delivery. WRONG!
First I was asked to submit a photo of the grass not growing. WITAF? Then when I refused this ridiculous request, Customer Service wanted to escalate my request for a refund to another team. Way WAY TOO MUCH WORK for a small amount requested.
I have never NEVER had this experience with Amazon the few times I have had to return something and Amazon's customer service went above and beyond at least once to help me out. With Petco, you are SOL, apparently.
I immediately canceled my repeat delivery and will not only NOT USE PETCO repeat delivery in the future but will NEVER SET FOOT IN THEIR STORE AGAIN.

Looking for a Cockatiel in my local area, Fresno, a few other pet stores wanted $60 to $150, Petco prce $249.99 and they had the birds for nearly a year already, not suprising, I ended up joining a waiting list for a bird with another store (not PetCo) and at a price of $60 and 4 months old, i noticed in other stores that Parakets wsold for $17 to $20, Petco price $25.99, even other products were all jacked up in price compared to Amazon and many others, it is almost like legal robbery of some kind, anyone looking for a pet then look elsewhere in your area before getting ripped off
I bought cat food on 10-13-2020 at Petco store in Waite Park, MN. I then returned it a week later. I have since been trying to get my money back. I have numerous emails with them phone calls and still nothing. They said they sent my money back and sent me a receipt but the receipt they sent me was a different card number. The receipt was not mine not my purchase nothing not even same day! The routing number they gave me saying they sent it to me had nothing to do with my bank. They refunded it to someone's else's card and account. How did they do that? Why was it not returned to my card when my card is the one that was used to do the return? What's going on at that store? When I called they told me that they sent it to the escalation department then when I ask if I can speak to somebody in that department they tell me NO. They say the people in that department don't talk to people like me. I want is my money back and it's been 3 months! I have never in my life been treated like this at any store or had to pretty much beg for my money back! Unreal to be treated like this. Who else have they done this to? I think it's time to find out and get a lawsuit going cause I know I'm not the only one by the other reviews! I will report to everybody and anybody until I get my money back. I will be going to the BBB the attorney general whoever. No business no company should be allowed to treat people this way. I don't care if it is only $77 that's my $77. They want to take your money quick as hell but nobody wants to give it back.
Delivered food late, but would not process a late return. Will be using Chewy for all my pet needs going forward!
My frog died and i returned the tank with no complaints. I may puchase later but petco was very nice about it as i felt aweful. I will continue to but my dog food and cat food. Nice friendly people.
I was a victim of false advertising/fraud. First, their banner says "Free same-day delivery on orders $35+ when you order by 2PM". There is no footnote or anything noting any exlcusions at all. Second, when I went to checkout, on the checkout page it specifically said "You're saving $12.24 on this order PLUS free shipping!" but then when I placed the order, I was charged $11+ for shipping, even though my total order was $46+ dollars and even though it specifically said the $12.24 was on top of free shipping. When I contacted customer support to get a refund on shipping as free shipping was advertised & gauranteed at checkout, they said there was no way they could do it. They gave all kinds of excuses that blatantly went against what they advertised and what was promised at checkout including that I wasn't getting free shipping anymore because of the $12.24 discount, even though the checkout page specifically said I was getting free shipping in addition to that. They would not honor their agreements and engaged in fruad. Also their customer service chat feature is almost impossible to use because it was a white background with white font, so customers cannot see what/when they are typing.
I placed an order in Petco for 3 positions, one of them was prescription food. I received my order after 3 working days but without prescription food. Inside the package was information that second part will be delivered later.
To the next day, I contacted customer service and they wrote me that part of my order was delayed because they couldn't contact a clinic.
Nobody has contacted me although I left my phone and email! I sent the prescription to Petco email and operator in customer service wrote me that order will be shipped during 24hours. When delivery date appeared in my account I stayed at home whole day, but I didn't receive my order. When I checked information in my account status of delivery was "Attempt - Lock Out / No Access" and date of delivery was changed on tomorrow.
I want to notice that I had other deliveries that day and have not any problems with them. I was at home the next day all day but I have not received my order again. Status of my order was changed on "Delivered to Sender".
I have waited two days and I have received nothing! My order was not delivered after 6 working days! I canceled my repeated delivery and placed it in another shop. I will recommend this shop nobody!

Answer: It took them 8 days to ship my order & it arrived damaged. I called them for a replacement & that to was damaged. Called again & they asked if I wanted a refund & I told them no, I want what I ordered.
