Like its competitor, Petsmart, Petco is a one-stop shop for most pet needs. Peptic always has what i need, and staff are courteous and helpful.

No issues at these 2 locations. They take their time to brush not shave our pup. I appreciate that since Petsmart immediately go straight to shaving.

Absurd Policies

I ordered from Petco & the date of delivery was pushed back. I was out of town when it arrived & a friend dropped it into my fenced yard. When I returned home I set the 1st item up & then 2 days later I went to set the 2nd up. It didn't fit where I wanted it so I boxed it up to return. I got to the store & was told they wouldn't do a return because it was more than 30 days from THE ORDER DATE... not the shipping date nor the delivery date. I told them to keep it & give it to charity. There were other people in the store & another employee came over to tell me policy was policy. I admit I made a scene & she said to hold on & she'd give me a store credit. I'll get food for the credit & probably give it to some of the homeless I see with dogs & cats. I called customer service & told them my issue, got some blah, blah, blah, the policy. I asked if I had gotten it outside the 30 day period from ordering was the policy I couldn't get a refund? THAT'S THE POLICY! Think twice before shopping on PETCO.com.

Petco just wants money I got a pet rat for my bday and they didn't let me buy another one my dad bought the big cage and they where like noooooo you cant get another rat because the cage is to little we had to buy another cage for another rat the cage is GIANT I loved Petco but now im changing to petland

Don't shop here

This is the worst store and I highly recommend you DON'T shop here! I went to their website to see if they had deworming meds for my dog and the results showed they had 5 in stock. When I got to the store there were 4 boxes of what I needed on the shelf. I took it to the checkout line and the clerk grabbed the box and left. She didn't say anything to my husband or I…not hello, how are you or even to tell me she had to go check the cabinet to grab the actual medication since only the boxes are put on the shelf. Finally she came back and very rudely says, "we don't have this!" Mind you, these are the first words she spoke to us. Instead she could've nicely said I'm so sorry but it appears these are out of stock and I'll have the boxes removed from the shelf. My husband then asked her why the website says they have plenty and why there were also 4 boxes on the shelf? Again in an extremely rude tone she replies with, "I'll remove them from the shelf." That's not what I asked. I reminded her it was extremely frustrating for people who look at the store website ahead of time so they don't have to go to 10 different stores to come in and find they have none even though all the boxes were on the shelf, but then it's even worse when the clerk is rude and clearly doesn't care. I was the jerk because I needed something from her store. So because I expressed my frustration to her store, her website and her bad attitude she says to me, "don't ever come back here". Well guess what…I only went there as a last resort and I now remember why I stopped shopping there years ago. The animals are in poor condition and are marked down because they've been in the store so long, you have terrible customer service and you have nothing in stock even though your website says you do. I have no problem with never going back. Shame on you Petco!

Just to provide background: I am a regular Petco customer. I purchased two guinea pigs from Petco back in February and have planned to buy more. My boyfriend and I spend hundreds of dollars buying all of our pet products from Petco. Friday, my boyfriend bought bedding and hay for our pigs and let me know that he saw a beautiful, fluffy brown baby pig that he thought I would love. So yesterday, on a beautiful Saturday, I drove to Petco to see this pig so I could decide if we would add him to the family. When I arrived at the tank, the guinea pig was hiding in the hideaway, so I could not see it. I looked around for someone to help us. I finally made eye contact with an employee (name tag: Rai) who asked how they could help. I asked if we could see the guinea pig. Rai responded "Well do you plan on buying it?" Confused, I asked her to repeat the question and she said again very confidently "Are you going to buy the guinea pig? I will only let you see it if you plan on purchasing it." Completely shocked, I walked away and looked for another employee. Rai approached the employee I was waiting to speak to, so I asked her if there was a manager available. Confidently, she told me she was the manager. I asked her why I would need to promise to buy a guinea pig before seeing it. She stated that groups of kids come into the store asking to see pets, so she had to be certain. I asked if I looked like a child? She said "No ma'am..." then said "Well, I can get someone to show you the guinea pig..." At this point, I was too hurt and offended to even stay in the store. My boyfriend and I left. I am deeply hurt at how I was treated not only as a loyal Petco customer, but as a person. I am also disappointed that I did not see the guinea pig I was interested in. If this is how Petco treats their customers, they don't deserve them.

I purchased some aquarium gravel online through Petco's website. Immediately afterwards I realized I would rather just order it from the store and and do curb side pickup in order to save on shipping. I went to cancel my order through Petco, and the Petco site said you had to call them for cancellations, which I found kind of odd in this day in age, but whatever, I called them to cancel. I explained what happened and they said they would handle the cancellation request while I put in another order for curb side pickup from my local Petco. They said someone would follow back up with me the next day in regards to my cancellation request, which again, I found pretty odd; why do they need to contact me the next day in regards to a cancellation request, just cancel it. So the next day I pickup my order from Petco. On my way home I get a call from a customer service representative in regards to my online order. They said it already shipped and they couldn't cancel the request and that there was nothing they could do. Again, I put in my cancellation requests literally minutes after I submitted the order. I'm guessing these traditional retail companies with a web presence are getting owned so bad by the successful online retailers like Amazon and Chewy that they have to resort to shady tactics in order to milk their customers for every penny. Whatever, I will file a dispute with the credit card company and never shop at Petco again. Screwing your customers over for penny's is not a long term strategy for success. I will stick with online retailers like Chewy who do it right and don't try and screw over the customer.

Placed an on line order. Went to return it in the store., Currently they are not accepting returns under the umbrella of COVID. I am all for keeping the public and employees safe. I asked about a free return label. In store and on the phone I am told they are offering it. When I called to process the return today, I have spent 90 minutes on the phone, have been disconnected 5 times and denied access to a supervisor. They tell me this is not the case so I should just hold the products until they accept in store returns. In the meantime, I have products that are of no use to me and they have my PALS rewards and my money. THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE. Even worse, I posted this on their Facebook page and while the response was prompt I am simply told what the script they read from dictates... Hold the product until the in store ban is lifted. What is wrong with this picture?!
WHILE PETCO MAY BE WHERE THE PETS GO, THE POINT CORPORATE IS MISSING IS THAT THE PETS DON'T TAKE THEMSELVES THERE AND DISCOUNTING THE VALUE OF THE OWNERS RESULTS IN LOST REVENUE.
