After 40 minutes Com told me that son could not change his flight after putting me on hold 5 times. Wow Orbitz really? Then you tell me to cough up another $280 to change flight times... Always book with the airlines, its much safer in case something happens!

I learned my lesson today. I wasted hours trying to book a flight. I hope I have not wasted money. Orbitz booked the flight but nothing else. I had to pay for baggage and seats through the airline's own website. I was completely unable to make the airline's page work. After going around in circles getting demands for the same information on screen, I finally called the airline and cancelled the reservation. Let's see if I really get my money back without a cancellation fee!

I have had several average experiences in the past where I have booked flights at reasonable prices using Orbitz. Lately, the price on all the flights I have tried to book has increased by hundreds of dollars at the last step after I've already spent 3-5 minutes selecting my seats and entering in my billing information. I understand that Orbitz uses cached prices to expedite searches, but the prices it quotes in the early stages of a reservation are always lower than the cost of the ticket when the reservation is booked. By design, this site manipulates its users to pay more for flights by withholding "actual" ticket costs. This site should only be used as a supplementary tool to research flights. It's sad to think that Orbitz takes advantage of travelers trying to visit their families and go on vacation.

Horrible
November 5, 2019

This company is horrible don't book your flights/hotel with them. They have no consideration if it's a family death and you need your money back. I lost $900 and change due to this company. Book somewhere else but not here

Great site!

I have bought many tickets from this site and have always been pleased. I have never had any problems with them and have found their prices to be slightly less than Expedia several times, especially when buying one-way tickets. No complaints here, will use again and recommend.

My family all lives out of state and i fly a lot, when I can get rock bottom prices, and Orbitz has consistently had the best prices anywhere on the net. Flat out will not go anywhere else, why bother, they always win!

Car Rental Ripoff
June 20, 2024

I booked a car rental through Orbitz and was quoted a price of $157.51 including "all mandatory taxes and fees". I ended up being charged $302 by Thrifty. I contacted Orbitz several times. Orbitz claimed that they contacted Thrifty and Thrifty told them the charge was correct. Orbitz refused to do anything else to resolve the issue. DO NOT TRUST THE PRICES QUOTED BY ORBITZ!

It took me all of 10 minutes to enter in the information they wanted to book a flight. After the website took several minutes to load, it gave me an error saying there was a problem with my card information. What they didn't tell me is that they were going to charge me $156 for "booking cancellation".
WHAT BOOKING?! Your exceptionally flawed website would not process my transaction!
I will never again use a website like Expedia or Orbitz to book a flight.

Don't bother contacting Orbitz customer relations by email. Why? Because they do not have the courtesy to respond. You spend thousands of dollars booking your All-Inclusive vacation with them and they can't even reply to an email enquiry? All-Inclusive to Orbitz does not include ground transportation to and from your resort, thus making it not an all-inclusive package. They won't be getting any more of my money.

I tried booking for 6 hours at night while the website wasn't allowing my flights to process. Next morning I called 2 times and on phone with agent who also tried booking. Same message, she then said she would transfer me to a supervisor. Instead I was hung up after a ten minute hold. I called back and was told the agent would call me. No call. I am presently on hold going on 1 hour now. I have talked to two agents and one so called "manager" that's only solution was for me to more money for a 5 am flight or pay 450 more for the same flight I tried to book all day yesterday. She said she would transfer me to another manger. However I have been on hold for 30 minutes so far! What a joke of a company!

Free cancellation.

After booking car hire through Orbitz I had to cancel.
I payed a booking fee of 143USD. They advertise free cancellation, very good I thought. The company sent me an email stating that they had refunded my bank account, this was not so. My bank told me no such refund had been made. After two months of trying to resolve this to no avail I have been left without my money. It is very difficult to contact Orbitz if there is a problem, no email etc. My advice to you all is not to use Orbitz they are very dishonest. I will never use them again.

I had planned my trip all summer while my son was away at Boot camp to drive out and see him graduate. I called a week before to confirm and everything was as it should be.The morning I was to leave out I went to pick the vehicle up from the airport like we planned. I had prepaid but when they stated I owed 570.00 plus 200.00 deposit I about flipped I even pulled up the email from Orbitz showing them and they said they have that problem all the time. I called Orbitz was hung up on then called back and was told it would take 5 days for them to return my funds to the bank. So I ended up getting a oil change and 4 new tires for my little ole car and praying I make it across country.U.S.Marine Mom

Why does Orbitz devote a dominant part of their opening webpage to social justice propaganda? Don't we go there to make flight/hotel/car bookings? Do we need to see an agenda by Orbitz to shape attitudes?
Before any of you start calling me names, I have no problem with whatever lifestyle choice anyone makes --Live & Let Live! -- but I am exhausted from companies driven by a need to emblazon a single dominant theme across their Home Page.
I'm sure I'm not the only one who thinks, "Let me find a platform that is focused solely on the core mission of facilitating bookings."

Site is full of bugs

Been using Orbitz for years. Booked a flight from Tulsa to Orlando. System auto populated JAcksonville to Orlando. One leg was with Spirit Airlines. Spirit's policy is no cancellation refund.

I immediately saw the error right after booking and tried for over 3 hours to get it corrected.

Orbitz isn't allowed by Spirit to cancel. Couldn't get through to Spirit, Orbitz offered to call, but all Spirit would do is issue a voucher good for 60 days, less a $40 change fee. I have no reason to ever fly Spirit, so the voucher is useless. Cost of this error that Orbitz refuses to take responsibility for if $594

To their credit, Orbitz suggested I call a Corporate Rep tomorrow morning. We'll see what they do if anything.

This is my last time booking with Orbitz. Also, stay away from Spirit Airlines!

I attempted to use my airline credits to rebook a flight. The customer service agents were rude and ineffective. I talked to six agents within two days. One agent obtained my details and then proceeded to put me on hold for over 30 minutes with no explanation. Another agent insinuated I was a liar after I told them I had spoke to four previous agents.

Here is the real issue. You can't get a manager. I was told I would need to wait three hours. I waited for an hour before they hung up on me. This is a common complaint that you will read on other reviews.
I am finding a new travel agency.

Like many of you, even I had a very bad experience with Orbitz. I booked a refundable ticket on orbitz and airline denied to board the flight at the airport. On request for a refund orbitz gives an excuse that airline denies a refund. In reality, they are big CHEATS!
Never ever book tickets on Orbitz. I prefer someone more genuine and reliable like Kayak.

We spent a whole day booking our flights. We had saved for six years so we could visit my long lost sister in England. When booking the flight we were told we would be flying with Virgin Air however this was not the case. They posted an icon with Virgin Atlantic to mislead us but then in the fine print we were actually flying with Delta. When I tried to call and discuss this I was told I could pay $1200 to change airplanes when booking the flight I was told I was flying with Virgin. Don't be mislead by these con artists. Very sad and disappointed.

Horrible experience

I would never use Orbitz again. Especially for international travel from the United States. Booked a car rental here in Lima, Peru. They did not even have my reservation. I had to call Orbitz to get my money back. I missed my beach function because of this and my hotel reservation. I highly recommend use expedia i have never had a problem with them before. Do not use Orbitz they are scam artists.

If a company gives you a good deal and then recommends insurance to protect your deal you have orbitz. A company that makes up for its its bargains by not honoring its insurance. When I get back to Washington I will be in my congressman and senators office demanding this company face fraud. DO NOT USE ORBITS. Spend the extra money right away and deal with real companies that cares. If everything goes perfect this company is still no bargain. If it doesn't go perfect and you need there help it's the worst customer service on planet earth. Run.

Misleading and fraudulent
November 18, 2022

I selected the flights in the most inconvenient schedule and long lay over just because they had fist check bag and carry on included, after i paid i checked on airline directly and "NO BAGS INCLUDED, EXTRA 150 PER PASSENGER" I send pictures of their own web site with they full description and after 2 days the just told me to cancel and fortunately i was able to get a full refund, dishonest fraudulent site, i will file a complain with consumers affairs. Do not use this web site is full or lier and criminals pseudo costumer services.
