Booked a room 2 hours later received an email saying it was cancelled but my card will still be charged the amount called after sitting on hold for 20 minutes they refused to say why it was cancelled but still would be collecting the money scam artists will be going to my bank and seeking legal advise they need to be stopped
I've been using a lot of booking websites, and I've never had such a bad experience as with Orbitz.
What happened:
I booked a car from their site, and the website needed to be refreshed, so I refreshed the page and went back to the car that I wanted and booked it however, what I didn't realize is that my start and end dates for the rental changed when the page refreshed.
Why are they so bad:
1) First and foremost, their customer service/support is terrible and rude! When reaching about my issue, instead of feeling or at least saying that they feel sorry about your bad experience, they just say, "Thanks for chatting with us — take care and have a wonderful day." When I asked for a copy of the chat, they told me to take screenshots of it when I asked if they could do it, they simply ended the chat.
2) When asked for a refund, they say that the car rental company doesn't offer a refund, but I see a charge from Orbitz and not from the rental company, and they don't want to give me a full refund even though it was an error from their site since it changed the dates on a refresh. They're blaming it on the car rental company, but I see a charge from them! Every professional company will offer you a full refund for an error that occurred on their end, EXCEPT Orbitz.
They do not tell you that you will be charged a commission for booking through their service. I was charged 24.95 per room above the hotels normal rate. This is an outrage! I am trying to get them to remove the charge and I am going to put it into dispute on my credit card. I just wanted everyone to know that you can look at the hotels on their website and get alot if information from them, then look the hotel up directly and make your reservation without orbitz. I will never use them again!
Had bad experience once and have never used the site more. Description of the room was not complete and I ve stayed in 5*hotel but in former cleaning ladies or night porter room. They do not check what they offer.
I just spent a whole day trying to get someone to explain to me why I was being charged a fee... Between the car company (Alamo) and Orbit someone must have their wires crossed... Alamo says there is no charge Orbit says Alamo will charge me... I will NEVER use this company again. It's like throwing your hard earned money away.
Orbitz the most unreliable booking service! If you want to pay for services that will not be provided call orbitz. Months and months waiting and calling for refund or at least rebooking. Still didn't get the problem solved!
Use other platform I order to book your flight or hotel. Orbitz- total disappointment!
I had an issue with a hotel reservation I made with orbitz. I initially encountered a long hold time and an operator who couldn't really help me. Howe eat after having my issued escalated to a manager she was extremely helpful in resolving our issues.
I have booked a room at Days Inn via Orbitz while traveling through Troy Alabama. When I arrived to my room and turned on the lights cockroaches scattered. I went to the front deck and canceled my reservation. Now I'm fighting with Orbitz for a refund. I cannot believe in all my years of using Orbitz that they would have this hotel as an option. The hotel was unsanitary and disgusting. I couldn't stay in the room any longer to get more pics.
I now use Orbitz for most of my reservations. I've compare their prices over the years with other sites and found them competitive. And now I get Orbitz bucks, credit for my reservations. Every little bit helps. I like their free 1day cancellation policy, and used it several times! Saves money and headache!
Does anyone think using Orbitz to book a flight is better than going direct to the airlines?
This may change you mind…Steer clear of Orbitz. I made a small change to an earlier flight on a round trip ticket. Orbitz changed my round trip to a one way ticket. When I tried to check in my return flight, it said see an agent at the airport.
The AA agent said I would have to purchase another ticket. This left me no choice but to book a last minute return flight at a much higher cost. Orbitz took zero responsibility and was unapologetic. I even sent screenshots, booking records and asked to escalate. I got nowhere with their outsourced & lossy customer support.
AA didn't offer a discounted ticket either but it really wasn't their fault. Customer service is so rotten these days. Hopefully informing others helps with their decision making.
I got tickets for a friend on Orbitz. There was a connecting flight but the details of changing planes was not disclosed. The two flights were so close together there was no time to claim baggage and go back through customs.
Orbitz failed to disclose that the two airlines had no baggage transfer agreement. The only way to make the connecting flights was to have carry on luggage only (good luck for a month long international trip) and to RUN. Orbitz change fee was twice what the airline charged on the spot.
The overcharge for a change aside, Orbitz irresponsibly linked two flights that could not be connected and refused to compensate for their error.
I have used orbitz.com for flight look up and booking two times this year comparing to other similar sites and found out that for my flight destinations it worked out very well to me considering, price, travel start and end time, travel time length, number of transfers (if any), length of layover, so I do not always look for the cheapest, but usually I get very close to the lowest prices out there, considering all other parameters I am interested as well.
I do not have any experience for other than flight arrangements with orbitz.com
I spent nearly $5,000 on flights on Orbitz in 2020. They assured me I could use my credits until April 2,2022. However, they refuse to let me use my credits or give me a refund, because they claim that they have an agreement with the airline to handle the credits. The airline denies this and claims to know nothing about the tickets. Orbitz should handle the problem or eat the costs, since I bought the tickets through them.
I have been stranded in Ethiopia because coronavirus caused the cancellation of my flight. Orbitz is advertising flights to the United States via Kenya Airways at a very reasonable price. Only problem: last week Kenya Airways cancelled all international flights
Twice I have pushed buy on a ticket and the price changed to a higher price. One time I caught it and the other time I did not. My daughter was ill and in a foreign country. I found a ticket for $948 to get her home quickly. I pushed buy and put in the information. I was charged $1450. When I called they said that they would do nothing. I ultimately spoke with a corporate manager by the name of Cory and he belittled me and made me feel even worse than when I had called in. I have used Orbitz for all of our travel needs in the past. I use to love using Orbitz. NO MORE! I see why they have a 1 star rating. What a horrible company.
Customer service is horrible twice they promised to call me back over issues. I waited 40 minutes to talk to someone in each case but no one called me back. Ended up giving up on trying to get my money back
On March 3,2017, I booked a ticket for my friend to fly from Vietnam to Los Angeles. By mistake I entered my last name instead of my friend last name in traveler information. Two days later, my friend informed that his last name was wrong.
I called Orbitz to correct the last name of my friend in information, but they denied and asked me to cancel and book another one, even thought all other information like birthday, first name, middle name, passport number, passport expiration date all correct. The canceling costed me $230 ($100 penalty, and $130 for adding to new ticket cost).
Orbitz has made money by a minor mistake of its customer. Shame for Orbitz. I will never use Orbitz service anymore.
Boycott Orbitz forever!
I paid 600 dollars on a car rental that I had reserved through Orbitz for 316.00 dollars.
I spoke with an Orbitz representative via chat which informed me I would receive a refund, that was on the actual day of rental. No refund was received.
I called back 3 days later and spent 3 hours on hold before I could speak to a live agent which stated I would receive a refund, that didn't happen either.
I then attempted to contact their customer service once again and was on hold for over 3 hours, never got to speak to a representative
Do not rent a car through Orbitz! Had booked reservations for car rental weeks in advance, went to pick up car... NO car available. Called Orbitz, after an hour conversation, booked another car through another car rental agency, showed up on time... NO car available! Called Orbitz back... could not even understand the poor English spoken of agent! Pissed! Need a rental car NOW!
Never book a cancellation policy with orbitz. READ the fine print and you will see that the cancellation policies require an obscene amount of unreasonable paperwork that is denied through loopholes in the end. Even if you purchase the "cancel for any reason policy" there are still loopholes their company uses to get out of refunding you your money. It was awful. I was on the phone being transferred to various different departments for over 6 hours. In the end they said in order to get any kind of refund I had to go to a hospital, get seen by a licensed physician, submit insurance information, and if they decided that it was a "valid reason" by their standards, they would "consider" filing my claim for a refund. Even though I purchased a cancellation for any reason policy. THAT IS JUST RIDICULOUS!
