I was having an issue with getting my amended numbers to match and called support. Cassandra showed me what i did wrong and how to recalculate them. She was AWESOME!
This software is $hitty and they know it; which is why they start off with We have the lowest prices in the industry... Well of course, your software does not work, the calculations are very bad, some of my returns were off by $100's of dollars, do you know how hard it is to explain to a customer that trusts you to do their taxes correctly that the software was incorrect and you may possibly owe money now! Only to have someone pretending to be a manager and asking for a written mailed statement to request a refund that by the time you actually get anybody on the phone to explain why the policy explained when I was being sold is now different; the 14 days for a refund have passed and they essentially leave you having to buy another package just to help your customers. If you intend on having and maintaining a profitable business preparing taxes then DO NOT purchase this software package! It does not calculate correctly and several states were paper file only which certainly defeats the purpose of purchasing a package that doesn't even allow basic e files in all 50 states as they advertise. VERY regretful for my purchase of 499 for the Unlimited Package; which means they absolutely Unlimitedly scammed me out of my money

I have been using My Tax Prep Office for three years now and I have found the program to be very helpful as well as the support Chat line during a busy tax season. As a CPA, EA and tax attorney I previously used Lacert and ATX tax software and they became too expensive once I semi-retired and slowed my practice down. MTPO is very professional and and they seem to be very aware of security which was serious concern I had. Good Job Guys, Richard P

I am writing this review mostly to vent on my experiences. Good points: great concept, but theory doesnt match practice; Conversion for me was painless. Bad Points: Without exaggerating I estimate i have lost 20% of my clients during the time I have been with MyTaxPrepOffice. Problems have ranged from poor customer service (In 2017 and 2018 it was timely, but 2019 is ridiculous in terms of response. The online option is a joke waits of 20 plus minutes is not uncommon. The phone is similarly terrible) to inability to process various aspects of a tax return (Import of stock transactions didnt work in 2018, waited weeks for help with return of client who i lost for 2019. NO ONE COULD RESOLVE ISSUE IN OFFICE. Similar problem in 2019 with my first return when i tried to take Section 179 election for ONE ASSET, To this date the issue has not resolved. Despite 5 calls to customer service (?), research (?) and sales.). No one in customer service will follow up after talking with you, even when they promise to call back. Its a disaster for me since i left my old vendor in 2016. Oh forgot, 2019 state software not ready after 2 months. Unless they make major changes to its programming/quality, customer service, staffing(?) and raise price cos revenue collected is not funding an effective, viable operation. #prayforme
I love the "concept" of the software, the ease of the dashboard, and the chat function as well as the EFILE. What I DON'T love are the Corp. State forms they do not foot! I mean "they" as I've done several States that I ended up having to use another program to make sure they were right. The Business Tax Returns 1120-1120s-1065 Federal and State have issues I was unable to EFILE State on Corporate Returns. Who has time to hand input them? That's what I was told to do. They do me the favor of printing the forms with a stamp that says "do not file" then it is up to me to find the pages from the State website and hand fill them and Mail file them! I bought this program right before August of 2018 quickly realized the State Issue. Requested a refund and was totally ignored so I ended up with another program as well spent double the $. Now if you are in a State with no State filing this would probably work. It works ok for Personal Taxes Fed/St. Just double check the figures because sometimes it doesn't Foot correctly. If the State and calculation issues could be fixed I would probably buy it again but I can not take a chance again Especially in the midst of the season.
Ps I asked specifically about State Forms / they assured me they would be just fine. But, guess what they failed to mention the Corporate issues... beware!
My first year with the Company was for the 2019 tax season. I did not know what to expect. I liked the direct support a lot. I used them a lot. There were a lot of calculation issues. There were a lot of issues with the same item not working the same in other tax returns of similar nature. There were times when I would finish a return...e-file it... and maybe print it again later and the numbers would have changed. I had to do too many over rides. BUT, I gave them the benefit of the doubt being a newer company. Fast forward to just finishing the 2021 filing season (I say just finished because I have a few stragglers). Most of the issues I had problems with in the past have been fixed. There are still those that pop up now and again (especially with States) that have to be worked through, but typically are fixed within 24 hours. I still have to do a few overrides, but nothing compared to 3 years ago. There are still a few small recurring issues, but I have learned what they are and where they are. I prepare over 700 returns. I am a solo practioner in the industry going on 36 years. Even the software I used before had a few issues. I feel 2022 will be even better then 2021 as they continue to upgrade, improve, etc their product. I only wish they had a better client organizer that could be sent to the clients to help them organinze their stuff. But, I have worked around that as well. I am in for the long haul and expect better things in the future (And I am not even using the client portal yet!)
I've been using mytaxprepoffice for a few years and I'm happy with it. They have attentive and responsive customer service.
I'll make this brief. I was sold on this software as I was looking for something that would organized my clients stage in the game better than my previous software, Drake. With that said it does a wonderful job. The price is very inexpensive and is locked in for life, which is also wonderful. They have an easy to use signature app that I allow my clients to use on my ipad. Easy peasy.
Now the negative. There are constant errors with the software. Nothing is inherently intuitive and things don't flow to other spots on the forms 100% of the time so I'm forced to scrutinize every bit of the return... making them take much much longer than normal. The sold me saying that they have a client portal clients can upload their docs to... then I found out it wasn't available until the 2018 tax year. Now it's still not available (a week into tax season) with no ETA in site. I had issues with trying to efile 2 returns. Support said they fixed the issue and sent it off for me. A few weeks later I looked back on them and come to find out 1 of the 2 was not ever sent. The migration feature is a pain. I had to do it several times for it to move things over, and I'm still not 100% that everything transferred. I'm just tired and ready to move on. I would not recomened unless you have a small practice. I only used this for a few extension clients (less than 20) and had these issues. I'm switching for tax season and I'm sure no refund even though they're not delivering on items they said were included.
