For anyone who saw my review yesterday, I am changing it some. A customer service representative did call me yesterday. I appreciate that the made the effort. She did point out to me where I could see or get a copy of my tax forms. I still feel their process was different than what I have been used to for many years where the provider literally asks the client to review the forms before sending to the IRS and they did not do that. So I was surprised it got sent without that review. The representative did point out where I could have found my forms, and I admit there is a place where I could have found the forms. It was a small statement below the expected refund or payment amount. Since that item did not change from $0 for me since I was not required to file and would get neither a refund or have to pay, I did not notice that in the very tiniest of letters below the $0 it said View Forms. In most other providers sites, I have always seen my forms in a very clear and notable way, so I did miss the very small print and positioning of the information. I appeciate that the representative called me and indicated that they would refund my payment. My prior comments were:
I just went to file my taxes with etax. Com When I did a search for free file, their website came up. They did not let me see a copy of my return before filing it & I was not provided a copy of my return. So now I have to call them to tomorrow to get a copy of find out why they did this.
In the meantime, they already charged my credit card because I did accept their storage and advice service for 3 years. But, I did not get any receipt and just know what I was charged by seeing a fee immediately posted to my debit card. They didn't even say what the fee was when I completed my card information.
When I log in also I see no option to get a copy of my return.
I have never had such a questionable service like this with other providers in my whole lifetime, and I am 74 years old. It makes me feel like I was possibly scammed.

I have a new email address so changed it to my current one using the edit feature. Then updated the password as well. All was well until payment time. Then it kicked me out at the payment page and said I had to verify my identity for the same credit card Id used last year. I understand the need for verification in today's ID theft world but the edit apparently didn't take; it reverted to my previous email address and would not accept either password. After several attempts I contacted the support line and after speaking with several lower level employees without an apparent clue between them, a "manager' came to n and told me if I could not get it to process they couldn't help me; then hung up on me. Ultimately I called back and was fortunately this time got a young man who knew just what to do to get my new password to take. But in spite of that, the experience with the rude manager put me off EVER using etax.com again.

Since 2014, I have been using the etax.com program. The federal tax questionnaire is efficiently laid out, and largely understandable. It keeps track of your entries from the previous year and serves as a reminder of your past income sources incase you forget one. You don't have to put in much extra work afterwards because the data you provide is carried over to the state return. You must have your income and deduction documentation available before you begin using any tax preparation software, and you must be familiar enough with the laws to be able to grasp some of the questions. But the program makes every effort to assist. E-filing is simple, and you receive frequent status updates.

I had a few queries during the process, and the customer support team was responsive. They provided helpful assistance promptly. However, improvements in providing guidance for complex situations would enhance the overall user experience.

Since it's so user-friendly and unlike other tax preparation programs, I don't have to pay extra for features that I and most other users won't use, I've been using the ETAX tax deluxe software for the last ten years. It is easy to use and comprehend, and so far, it has been my preferred method of filing taxes because it relieves me of the pressure of having to understand all the necessary papers and regulations each filing year. If it were offered for discounted costs as those offered through Amazon and other sellers, I would give it a five-star review. Strongly suggested.

Visually simple, easy to navigate, more info supplied as needed for comprehension on a point. I love that you can come and go as you have time and it saves your spot.
I like the option to review each section of the return as I work on it rather than having to complete the entire process before having the option to print the return and worksheets.

Overall, etax is a decent online tax site, but there is room for improvement in terms of user interface. With some enhancements, it has the potential to become a more user-friendly and reliable option for tax filers.

Their website says 5 stars but you can't review on their website. 3 months after trying to submit my tax return through them I had to cancel it, basically it's the same as doing it yourself but they give added stress, answered the same question 5 times then had to do submit it myself anyway or find another accountant. Minus 15 stars because that's how many times they made me cry before cancelling.

Sometimes the same number, sometimes a different one. Usually a US area code, sometimes not. This is a scam company. No matter how many times I screamed at them LEAVE ME ALONE and hung up, they called right back. FIFTEEN FREAKING CALLS IN LESS THAN 24 HOURS. Always an Indian-accented male who gives a western name (John, etc.). Even if this company was legit, which clearly it is not, why pay someone to do your taxes when you can get the IRS to do it for you for free?

I've been a customer of Etax for 9 years. In that 9 years I have never had to use their customer service. However the moment that I did it was a horrible experience. I reached out to them because their system did not capture my bank account number correctly. Instead of them provide me with solution they blamed everything on me. I was told that they don't have glitches or have errors. Which we all know is untrue. Their service is pretty much a self-service service which mean that you have no contact with a live person. Also you must enter your account number twice before entering it so I know that I verified at least three times before submitting it. Hi room system cut off the last four of my account number and my deposit was misplaced. No one offered me any helper our solution they were just pretty rude..

I gave 1 star because it's a mandatory field and not letting me post here.

Don't use http://www.etaxplanner.com/ for your taxes. They are scammers. I got an estimation of my tax return with them. They mentioned a high tax refund amount and asked $400 filling fee. I got an estimation from another source and found the tax refund amount etax has mentioned is incorrect. I decided not to proceed further with them. It's been more than 2 months they still keep calling and threaten me because I got an estimation with them so I need to pay filing fee and if I don't pay they will share my sensitive data information with third party.
If needed I am willing to file a police complaint and deal with them in legal manner.

I was rejected by the IRS due to me being legally disabled and someone using me as a dependant. I do work part time and wanted to file my own taxes this year.Ok that person has amended their return to exclude me. Though my refund amount has not changed this customer service rep insists that I did in fact change my return. To add things or take away from anything on your return would in fact change the refund amount.(education tax). If I have already paid the fee for your services why on earth would you insist that another payment be made to file the exact same thing? Under the guise that changes were made. Having an understanding that tax season is money season for some, some of us are disable and can only do so much, like paying again for a service that says I have to pay only once. I would rather a call and apology and permission to use what I have already compensated you guys for.

Was wondering why my refund was so much less this year. Called etax, the nice lady explained it was the unemployment checks that I got. The sneaky government gives you some help, then wants the money back as taxes.
