Tried to file logged in ask for basic info and then credit card number after that indicated tax filed with IRS and I never got to that! Scam! Now have to fight with bank and the company for refund. Stay away!
I filed what I thought was a free tax return with this outfit only to find out later a was charged $94.85. They took this out of my return for $205.00 which left me with $110.15. And I did all the work. The $94.85 consisted of 3 different so called charges.
I call for a refund and Brenda answer as if she was going to help but she basically told me I was scam. Beware she tried to get my SS number. Kept asking for it would not give it to her. Out of $30 my fault.
I had a great experience working with Jen, one of the representatives at etax. She supported me and helped me overcome a couple of obstacles last night. She was really understanding of my situation and did a great job of explaining to me how to fix my mistakes. She was courteous and made filing my taxes simple. I think Jen is fantastic!
Do not use etax.com for your taxes. I did mines on their site and they gave me the amount after I was done doing them. I called customer service and a lady there was very rude from the beginning of the call and gave me a different amount than what online said. This is FRAUD! They have no manners whatsoever and very poor ethic. She wanted me to do all the work when that's what she's getting paid for "CUSTOMER SERVICE." BEWARE!
This company mispresents its service and products. Bait and switch tactics. We paid for a service we did not receive, and when we tried to resolve it with eTax.com's customer service, our emails were ignored, and there was no customer service contact number. When we disputed the amount charged by eTax.com with our credit card company, Efile.com maintained that we owed the money and never once offered a resolution, or offered a way to contact them in person. Fortunately we had the evidence to show that we were not misrepresenting the situation, and that eTax.com did in fact attempt to scam us. Beware. These people are crooks who will waste your time and money, and if something goes wrong, they simply take the money and run.
First off the site claimed to be fee. However I know most of them have additional fees. I paid $79 for Federal and State, because I had some business income. Their price was cost much less than Tax Act or Turbo Tax. I filed my federal Married filing jointly and State Married filing separately. Their system automatically had me as filing jointly with the state and I had to call them to change it. When I paid my bill. I didn't get a receipt. So I called again and they told me my credit card statement was my receipt. If you are filing a simple return. Just use Tax Act or Turbo Tax. I will never use them again. They would have cost me an additional $120 in State if I hadn't known what I was doing.
I filed 12/31/2012 tax return using IRS endorsed website ETax.com; Direct deposit to my bank account was short $114; I called etax and spoke to person who said $114 represented fee for filing return and for failure to give them my credit card information. Neither etax nor IRS can explain to me what "FREE" means to them in this case. IRS is endorsing this type business to continue year after year. Go figure!
Someone needs to actually study the tax codes before attempting to run this kind of business. I done some research after the fact and called and cancelled and went to a real tax service. The service I first chose was using etax. They don't even know the simplest of tax codes.
I filed my 2014 fed and state, 129.80 fees, filing fees and bank fees. There was nothing free about filing. I will never use etax.com ever again. No star, Nothing Free about etax.com. The IRS should be ashamed of themselves for recommending etax.com. Where's my refund...
This is a scam. It says it is free then once you get in and ready to file they end up charging you for your state return even if you do not want to file it. You are never given the option not to file the state return. I thought I was only filing the federal it never said I was filing the state. I intended on filing the state through our state website for free and only wanted to file the Federal with e-tax. I ended up filing twice because I was not aware they were filing the state. Then they charged me for the state return $30.00. Then it asked for a credit card, I did not put it in because I was under the impression it was free. They then charged another $60.00 for taking the money out of my return. I did not get a receipt nor is there anything on the site showing that I paid the $90.00. It was just taken from my refund. I called customer service and they basically said too bad. You knew you were being charged. DO NOT USE THIS SITE!
Etax carries over some information from the previous year's returns. My only complaint is that it does NOT alphabetize the names of charities I donated to last year. That forces me to search my spreadsheet to find the amount corresponding to the listed charity.
On the IRS.com one of the income tax services is eTax. It is under free service. After giving all the information for my wife and I, eTax said I would receive a refund fro IRS if a agreed to a $25 fee to eTax.com. We agreed.
Today I received a direct deposit from IRS. The deposit was $94.85 less then the amount on my tax form. When I called eTax to ask why, I was told I had agreed to direct deposit fees. I had only told of the $25 fee at the time of filing. They accused me of agreeing these additional fees. Not happy.
Raped of $94.85! Filed a simple state & federal return, must not have seen the charge for state... ok my bad, but in letting them apparently take it out of return (dont recall and NO receipt) it goes to a 3rd party that then charges $24.95 to verify your account and then an additional $39.95 to transfer your money to your bank after Etax takes out their money. When I called she said this was a 3 page process to accept... BULLSH*t! I did not go through 3 pages of authorizing them to take these charges. I can file my state for free! I got no receipts stating what would be taken or I would have cancelled this and did it through my state for free. I'm so pissed at the deviousness of this company that I will scream it from the rooftops not to use them! I will NEVER use them again or my friends and family, guaranteed free!
I used Etax to file my federal and state income tax return using the free service. I then saw a charge of $59.90 on my credit card. Perhaps they use some hocus pocus to look like I authorized it, but I did not as the only reason I used them was because it was free. I actually meant to use E-file but got redirected to E-tax and didn't notice. When I called E-tax customer service to dispute the charge they hung up on me. DO NOT USE ETAX.com
This is the worst tax service that I have ever encountered. It said it was free, didn't give me a chance to review, and submitted my state without telling me that it was going to charge me $29.95. Plus, it did not draft the money that I owed the IRS to them, like every other tax service. I had to pay the IRS directly on the 16th, because that's when it was accepted by them (the IRS). Called them 3 times complaining, and wanted to talk to someone about this. She almost hung up on me, but put me on hold forever, until I finally hung up.
They are a scam. I did my taxes before I looked up the e tax reviews. I had a problem when I finished and couldn't e file. There was no answer to my questions because the # they posted was disconnected. There is no way to reach. Not to mention they charge me $79.00 at the end of all this before I could get a printed copy. Now I worry that they have all my personal information and will either try to get my refund before I can file with someone legit. Also they could steel my idenity. I am so mad at myself for not reading the reviews first. BAD people do BAD things. What has this world come to.
Put it in quotation marks. Not free at all. O yeah its blah blah blah... and the end when its all said and done fee on top of a fee on top of a fee on top of a fee. I filed with someone else last year and it actually was free. So you know... etax people you got your fee's from me this time... fool me once but you will not fool me twice... and hopefully other poeple reads these reviews before they file theirs. I hope this helps you people. Taxes on everything... taxes on getting your taxes back. This world is $#*!ed up.
I have been doing my taxes for several years. This year they gave me an early return from my IRS taxes and charged me a fee for around $70.00 for this service. I did not ask for this service and have never had never did this before.
Always got my return in under 6 weeks from the IRS. They said I did not pay for there service. I have a debit card on file with them. They said they could not bill me, because I did not pay for there service. If there was a problem, they should have contacted me by email or phone. They have this information. They just decided on their own to take part of my return. I called costumer service and spoke with Kelly who was very, very rude. Then spoke with her supervisor and she was even ruder. DO NOT DO Business with these people. I will not, my self.
Advertising indicated that eTax was a free software to file a tax return electronically with the IRS. When our refund arrived at our bank it was a little over $100 less than what was indicated on the filing with the IRS. When I checked the "Where's my refund" on IRS.gov it indicated what the filing did. It wasn't the fault of the of the IRS. I think I'll do something different next year. Maybe get a part time job with a filing service and get an "employee" discount :) Shame on you "eTax". Never again!
Answer: Yes and more than quoted. Only detail of charge for me was $39, was charged 98.15
