Fraudulent company. They will not listen to you but will be quick to listen if you want to pay them to sabotage your competitor. If you have a website please DON'T host here. They will be ready to take money from your competitors and ask them to pay. When you come asking why your website was suspended they will close the chats and not even pick your calls.
They suspended my website and asked me to pay $5000 if i wanted if to be activated. Fortunately, I had a backup. It if didn't have i was almost paying.
This site is a scam making a fake ilegal trafic not payin for the services what i give to them. They are making a fake trafic promising the visitors that they will pay tem for ther visites or task what they do for them.at the end they will scamm you
These guys became market leaders on good support and customer care. A while back they were acquired in a buyout and since then their attitude has dropped off a cliff. They do not support ticket system any more and if you wish to wait on the phone for 1+ hour waiting on their phone support I wish you luck. I had been a happy client for 10 + years but earlier this year they put their prices up, did not advise me and then just charged my paypal account the 30% increase without my consent. When I questioned them they said oh we notified everyone via their online blog. Avoid them like the plague!
I used hostgator during their promotional discounted offer. Their promotional offer was so cheap that I decided to buy multiple domains and use their hosting for my business. I checked hostgator reviews before I signed up. There were actually a lot of "stay away" reviews. Customers complained about getting charged for services they cancelled. I naively thought this won't happen to me. Boy, was I WRONG.
I requested to cancel my domain privacy service in April 2016. They told me everything is cancelled. I have the chat message and everything. In August 2016 I realized they were still charging my business card. I thought, wait this isn't right. At this point I still had Domains with them. But I signed up for an annual plan so I should only be billed annually. So I logged into my hostgator account and saw that they've been charging me for the same service I cancelled 4 months ago.
So I contact them again and ask what the heck is going on. They said that they were charging me for my other domains. Let me note that I had over 10 domains but only signed one of them up for domain privacy. So I made it clear in August that I want it cancelled for all domains not just one. They promised they would.
Guess what? You guessed right. It's now December 2016 and I'm still being charged. I had to dispute the charges with my credit card company. And they still continue to charge me. I have to get a new card because these guys are liars and scammers. I should have paid attention to the negative reviews. They make money off subscriptions that people forget about. They don't make cancellations!
Stay away from Hostgator at all cost! They will never stop charging you!
I started live chat on hostgator, first waited for one hour for chat to start, then support guy is not replying for half an hour. Terrible experience, avoid them.
Server up time was great but I am not happy with their security side, they don't apply security patches to shared cpanel servers that makes your website vulnerable to cyber attacks, they keep increasing prices and trying to up sell their products, technical support was unacceptable, I prefer iweb4 hosting
1. Hostgator does'nt give quality support especially technical support. No way easy getting your way, solving your queries on cpanel &/ your websites, blogs.
2. They are good manipulators. Your server/s will be changed without any notice. Sometimes its apache, sometimes its nginx... you do'nt know. Then they tried to force Attracta (SEO company) on to its customers.
3. They stopped giving email support. Now its much harder to get them with Live Chat. Chat is often busy. Phone support is there but its useless.
I was with hostgator for years. As time progressed, I encountered more and more problems with my shared VM lagging out, and their 5-year old SpamAssassin system failing to properly prevent a large volume of spam from crowding my mailboxes. When I switched to another host, the spam issue completely disappeared, and my website has no latency issues anymore. On top of that, I found out Hostgator had been charging me for nearly two years for a service I cancelled; I missed it because it was billed exactly 10 days apart from another service of the same amount (so when reviewing finances they were never on the same screen, and I took it as the core hosting). Of course they wouldn't refund anything (even though the site was never used or accessed, which they refused to confirm). Ultimately, they have degraded to a terrible hosting provider and refuse to work with their customers on billing issues. As such I have removed all business, and I couldn't be happier. Stay away, and host elsewhere! (note I am purposely omitting the new hosting company so readers don't think I'm trying to sell another service)

I have not once had any downtime with hostgator. Every question I have had were answered quickly. I have recommended my friends to them and they have all been happy with them.
When I switched to my main income source of business being online, I put my faith into hostgator. I have been quite pleased with them. When you think hosting providers it comes down to just a few key things:
Price: You can get the first month hatchling plan for a penny (coupon code: PENNYSAVER), then its only about $7 a mmonth after that. I have not found anything with a similar price value.
Reliability: I work from home, and it is super important to have 100% uptime. Hostgator does this for me.
Speed: So, Google now can rank sites based on their loading speed. I have gotten every one of my sites on the first page of google with the speed that hostgator has.
Tools: They give you a lot of tools in the dashboard. You won't need half of them. Buuut they are all nice to have just in case.
I highly recommend them.

10/29 start-Reseller accounts have been down for over 30 hours now. No communication to customers, besides they are working on it. Many of us found out by calls in the middle of night early morning by our own clients. NO ETA at all. During the day Facebook and Twitter followers made replies and significant amount for these replies were deleted, including mine. My were appropriate but very factual. Several reports on Facebook of waiting for over an hour then starting to talk and be hung up on via live chat and phones. At one point no one would answer phone support or reply to social media.
Have been using host gator for a few years, very good customer support and better priced than competition. Just make sure you choose your package carefully as you can overpay for what you need if not careful.

I found hostgator. Com have been very supportive re issue's I have had with setting up my Website and I like that they involve the use of green energy- invested in Wind Energy to help offset server emissions, use Wind Power and purchases certified Renewable Energy Credits (REC's).
Words do NOT describe my frustration with these people. My website keeps going down and they promise 99% UPTIME. My web company always calls me to tell me the website is down again and to upgrade my server. I call these people every day and get a different answer from every person I talk to. The customer service agents sound like little kids and they are very rude. AND to top it off, whenever I ask to speak to a supervisor they tell me NO! Finally, I got fed up with being told no to speak to someone that can help me so I reported my phone call. IF ANYONE EVER HAS A PROBLEM WITH THEM, THEY RECORD ALL PHONE CALLS. All you have to do is email *******@hostgator.com with the time you called, number you called from, and the first name and last initial of the person you spoke with. I have now had 5 apology letters from hostgator.com. My service has improved but they still get 1 star for how unprofessional their agents are.

After being with them 3 months and asking about sending 150,000 emails at one time, they finally tell me they don't allow purchased mailing lists no matter how good they are! Getting information from them the whole time was like pulling teeth! Alot of kindergarten responses! SUUUCH a stressful time in my life because of them! On the phone everyday at least twice per day! They messed up my upgrade /transfer and problems with the site ever since. They refused to re-do the transfer the right way and fix every little thing as we go along!
I used hostgator for about 5 years, no real trouble with them and the prices seem to be quite a bit cheaper than anyone else. I would recommend them to anyone with a small business site
