Home Depot's reputation is marked by a mix of positive and negative customer experiences. Many customers appreciate the wide selection of products and the knowledgeable staff, which contribute to a convenient shopping experience. However, significant concerns arise regarding customer service, particularly related to installation issues, return policies, and delayed deliveries. Customers frequently report dissatisfaction with the handling of complaints and a perceived lack of support, leading to frustration and a sense of being undervalued. Overall, while the company offers a robust product range, its customer service approach appears inconsistent, impacting overall satisfaction.

I never had a problem with Home Depot.
When I visit I know what I need. They will either have it or not. Customer service never let me down. Their paint department matched a paint color for me that their competitor (Lowes) had sold to me and then they (Lowes) told me they couldn't match!... couldn't figure that one out as I had Lowes paint mix label from the top of the can!
The website could be much more organized and showing more updated products.
I used to love this place but now. No way! I was in there recently and every time I cant get help when I need it. I ask for help and i wait and wait! They dont have enough employees to help customers!
Great to shop for everything you want without looking for it in the store. Just pull up and pick up!
We were all set to order three doors. Wanting to make sure that the doors were measured and ordered properly, we were pleasantly surprised to find out that for $50.00, someone would come to the house and measure for us. Sold! A couple of days went by and someone from Home Depot called. Hey, we're in the area, can we stop by? Sorry, we aren't home. Then radio silence. We called a couple days later. Oh yeah, we'll call you right back. Never did. Third call. Yeah, we'll give you the installers number, you call him and set it up. WHAT!?! Ten days later, order is cancelled. I told the store manager but I'm pretty sure he doesn't care. He didn't even take all of my information. What a waste of time.
Good prices and products, but not enough people to help. I usually know what I'm going in for, but not always and then I am left to hang. Lowes has better service but there isn't one near me.
I have ordered numerous times via homedepot.com and I am always a satisfied customer. My most recent purchases are the Philips 60W & 40W Equivalent Daylight A19 LED Light Bulb (16), cost me over $150. I switched out all the lights in my new house with these Philps LED and I couldn't be any happier. I only buy the Daylight light bulb which is the whitest & brightest of all the different types of lights in the market. So glad that HomeDepot carries these lights and they also have the best price compared to other similar products.
I love the department just they always hare great price
I really appreciate being able to shop on Home Depot.com that has 25 different configurations on Delta Breez bathroom fans and even a Delta Tub Spout in an unusual size that no one else could supply! I got the Home Depot credit card to give me a year to return purchases to them instead of 90 days. Sometimes projects get delayed due to the contractor's schedule and you never truly know something is going to work until the contractor installs it. So 90 days isn't always enough. With their credit card, they also gave a number of months to pay without interest. And last but not least, they carry the brand of Behr Marqee paint which carries a top rating by an independent consumer magazine.
I was trying to order a gift, but was told that they could not confirm my credit info. That didn't stop them from charging me $1. Three different times for a total of $3. Within a few minutes. Each charge went through, which proves my card was good. I sent an email to the company immediately, but no response. Spent $2 on a call to my bank (not an 800#) I may have to pay an additional $15. To replace my card. Home Depot needs to return my money. It's a small amount, but how many other people have they charged for nothing.
The Home Depot close to us has a good variety of products but the sales people do not know much about their products and it is hard to get help.
HD - You have great staff. Treat them better please
I have shopped at Home Depot since the early 90's. I really like shopping in the store. It has a great selection and you can easily order things not available that will arrive in a few days. They have a great website and the shipping is free if you want it delivered to your home. You just have to reach a certain threshold for the shipping to be free but it is a low figure currently $45. They also offer a 10% discount on most items (lumber is one they do not for example and this has cost them a lot of my business from me because Lowe's gives it on lumber) to veterans and service personnel if you ask for it on
When it comes to facilities, Lowe's has a much nicer set up. At Home Depot, the stores are darker and the aisles are narrower than Lowe's. The stores just aren't as visually appealing as the Lowe's stores. The selection of goods and services are at least as good as Lowe's and customer service is of the same caliber. Home Depot's pricing is very, very similar to the Lowe's stores but you can often find a cheaper price on some items. But you can say the same of Lowe's. I usually shop both stores on line before going in to get the lowest price.
The Home Depot return policy is very liberal and I have never had a problem with a return even if I didn't have the receipt. All in all I would say the experience is about what you can expect at any big box store and I don't think you will go wrong shopping there.
I've used HomeDepot and Lowes the last many years for materials to remodel our 37 rooms at our lodge near Yellowstone. Lowes gets a 5 star rating as their long term 24 mo. No interest is easier to use and they still give me the veterans discount where HD offers one or the other and they have to make a call to get 24 mo approval so it takes more time. However I need to use both places at times like I will this week when ordering $10-15,000 of materials to remodel 6 more rooms this winter when our lodge is closed. Just be sure to not miss any payments or the interest is retroactive to day one at some ridiculous rate of 24% or something! This program lets us get the rooms done in the off season and pay for them when cash flow is large during the summer season. Works great! Update 9-28-16 Another trip to both stores and this time HD gave us a 12% discount on our total purchase of $3600+ at their contractor desk. Many of these items were still priced with their Labor Day discounts. We were very impressed so two weeks later we ordered another $1600 in sliding doors and windows. Another good experience as they called it a continuation of our same project and got us the same 2 yrs no interest financing!
Trying to find specialist in a department is futile and products are often missing. However, they provide military discount and that goes a long way with me. Step up your A game Home Depot!
Always love shopping at Home Depot. I have ordered on line also and all was good.
If you need to use a box store for a hardware, this is much preferable to LOWES. They have such better service. Whenever I go to Lowes, something gets messed up. Staff are rude or non-existent.
If you are the kind of person who likes to keep your home up to date, you don't really want to miss the great deals that home depot offers. I really like home depot, specially for their very organized way to lay out their stock, also for the efficiency of the personal that works there
Their gardening stuff is amazing and I truly love them. My garden was gorgeous after we were done with it. The complimens we got were amazing and of course made the yard look stunning.
I ordered an appliance package thru Home Depot online. The order was accepted and to be shipped to my home. About one week later I was contacted about one of the appliance in the package. Apparently they over sold and could not honor their deal. I had to cancel all and reorder a different package which was delivered many weeks later. Again, apparently 18 wheeler's can make it up the mountain where I live, but not Home Depot's delivery crew. Unfortunately by that time I had already ordered again from the same site. I purchased 2 Barn Doors- this time to be send to the store so I could pick them up myself. The first one arrived with only a couple weeks delay, the second not so much. After contacting HD several times via chat on their site, I was finally informed that the second door is on back order and they have no idea for how long. It took me months to finally reach someone to cancel the whole order and get my money refunded. I have not set a foot into their store again. All this happened through the Boulder, Co store and Home Depot.com. I never had ANY problems with HD in Texas.
Answer: Hi Betty, you can also return without receipt if you purchased using your credit card. Give them the same CC and they can tell the price you bought at.
