Home Depot Reviews Summary

Home Depot's reputation is marked by a mix of positive and negative customer experiences. Many customers appreciate the wide selection of products and the knowledgeable staff, which contribute to a convenient shopping experience. However, significant concerns arise regarding customer service, particularly related to installation issues, return policies, and delayed deliveries. Customers frequently report dissatisfaction with the handling of complaints and a perceived lack of support, leading to frustration and a sense of being undervalued. Overall, while the company offers a robust product range, its customer service approach appears inconsistent, impacting overall satisfaction.

I went to Rochester Hills location seen a storage cabinet that I wanted, the store associate informed me that it was not in stock. Suggested I order it on line. I did so receiving a promise date of 10 days. On the 12th day I have yet to receive it. I contacted home depot to get an update. The customer service was totally useful. I was told to give it a few more days and then I can request a refund that will take an addional 5 to 10 days to receive.

Bought a snow blower online on Dec, 13,2017. Picked up in store the same day. Wanted to return the snow blower, which was unopened. When I went to return it, they would not accept it at first. They said their recent policy is that they are not to accept snow blowers for returns. After speaking to the manager, they agreed to let us return it. However, the credit would not be returned to my card. They only wanted to give me store credit. Then I asked if they could order a different snow blower that they did not have in store so that I could buy a different one that I wanted. They said they would not be able to order it because you are not able to use store credit online (the only option they gave me). The most ridiculous policy I have ever heard of. Now I have an unwanted snow blower and cannot even exchange it for something better since they do not carry the one I want in stores.

Stay away

I have placed two major orders from Home Depot this year. Both times, they promised a certain delivery date and then reneged at the last minute. And I had spent hours on the phone with them trying to determine when my order would arrive. Their customer service is garbage. I just canceled my second major order yesterday when they failed to deliver my product and ordered it from another company instead.

Please avoid Home Depot like the plague.

I went to their South Provo store to buy a Christmas tree. They had quite a few to choose from. I found one I like, but, no one was outside that could help me. So, i went inside and asked a person at their customer service desk, who quickly paged someone to help. They were helping someone else and said he'd be over as soon as he finished with her. I was good with waiting, After he finished with the person he was waiting on, he helped another person, and then, helped someone else, and on, and on. 20 minutes after he helped the first person, I left. I'll try again tomorrow, only I'll go somewhere else.

NO STARS. We bought a new home and needed three carpets. There were problems with every one of them involving major delays and stress. We were told the first carpet would be delivered on time. The day after we were told over the phone that it would come the next day, we got a call saying it would be delayed two weeks. This carpet was purchased with the special "7 day" guarantee. The second carpet was also delayed. The third carpet arrived on time but was defective and had to be returned. We had to wait another 7 days for another carpet. If this is not enough, NO ONE takes any responsibility for problems. Home Depot subcontracts to the carpet people and the carpet company sub contracts to the installer. The installers are the only people who are competent. Everyone else passes the buck. It's almost impossible to speak to anyone. There were a couple of employees at the store who did their best to help but their hands were tied by Home Depot policies. Don't order carpet form Home Depot unless: You can wait a long time to get your carpet, you don't care if it might be defective and you enjoy spending hours on the phone/at the store trying to get help.

Home Depot does not even deserve 1 star. We bought 3 high end appliances from Home Depot and never got them but they had no problem charging my credit card immediately for these appliances but were never able to ship them to us. We were given 3 separate delivery dates and none of these times were we called one day in advance as we were assured they would. So, the day of each delivery, we wasted our entire day waiting on the deliveries that never happened. The store manager, Ken, at the NMB store even told us the last delivery day we would absolutely get the items and he would call us again himself the Tuesday before the delivery day to confirm for us one more time. Shocking!, but we never heard from him again either. We will never, EVER buy from them again and strongly recommend you DO NOT either! Run, Forest, run quickly to Lowe's or Best Buy if you actually want the appliances you purchase in your home.

Hi Friends,
Please be careful when buying appliances from Home Depot. I'v spent the last three days on the phone with their customer service team trying to coordinate a delivery and installation of a dishwasher. Then the delivery didn't happen, but someone signed for it. Now Homedepot are saying I can't get a refund until it's returned to the manufacturer. So I'm out my money and a dishwasher.
I have NEVER experienced such HORRIBLE customer service.

On 10/23/17 I contracted with a salesman from Home Depot in Jersey City, NJ to repair my roof. A few days later an inspector came by to access the damage which in my opinion should have been done before giving me a price to do the repairs. After checking out the roof the inspector wanted ME to have some pieces of wood replaced BEFORE Home Depot would fix the roof. This contract was for $21,000 and did not include this. After I made a down payment of almost $9,000 Home Depot did not contact me for about a week and when they did they told me that they had cancelled my contract and would not give me an explanation as to why they did so. In addition to cancelling my contract, Home Depot only returned half on my deposit to my checking account about a week later. When I cancelled my credit card with them a few days later they returned half of my deposit to my checking account and when I asked when the rest of my money would be returned their excuse was that they could only return it by check and that it would take approximately 3 weeks to do so.

I bought a $229 microwave. Had to pay $60 for shipping and $125(?) for installation BUT I was ok with paying as much for delivery & installation as the product cost. I took the day off from work to wait for my 3 hour installation time. No one came. No one called. For 1.5 hours I was on the phone with GE, HD, warehouse, and third party installer. Everyone blamed everyone else. No one knows we're microwave is or when it will be installed. No one can call me once they figure it out BC they are a 'call in center only'. Horrible customer service. They have my money, my appliance, and I missed a day of work for nothing. #neverusehomedepot!

After spending $30,000.00 they stuck me with a washing machine we are very unhappy with. Just FYI if you buy any appliance from Home Depot you only have 48 hours to return it for any reason! We bought a Samsung washing machine from them and we hate it! The wash cycles are over an hour,. The clothes come out dirty and with soap residue on them, and overall would like to exchange this for anything else. Beware of buying any top loader washer without an agitator. The mechanical action, very important element to get clothes clean, is minimal. I believe this is why the wash cycles are so long as with diminished mechanical action the try to make up for this by adding a lot of extra time to the wash cycle. Also you have no control over the water levels so often the clothes are not completely covers by the water level. My advice is do not buy a Samsung top loading washing machine and think twice before buying any appliance from Home Depot!

Home Depot Appliance
October 29, 2017

We purchased a range from Home Depot a couple of months ago. We could finanlly afford the top of the line oven/range I always dreamed of. My husband and I both work, but we took the day off when they were scheduled to deliver it. I was very excited about the new features. But the delivery guys looked behind our oven and said we did not have the correct outlet, and an electrician needed to fix it. So they took the range back. No one told us ahead of time that there might be an issue with the outlet. Couple of weeks passed before an electrician could be scheduled to put in a new outlet, and cut the cord off our old range. We had already scheduled delivery the following day, since I knew I could not live without a range for more than a day. The delivery company called and confirmed the date and time. I stayed home from work that day, but they never showed up. I called Home Depot customer service, and they called back and scheduled another appointment for the following week. The delivery company confirmed the delivery date and time, the day before. This time, my husband stayed home from work. The truck came but the range was not in the truck. They said they were here only for a service call. We explained the situation to them and to Home Depot customer service, who scheduled us yet for another delivery date the following week. The same thing happened again; the truck showed up with no range. By now we were furious. I had lived with no range, eating from microwave or spending money to eat out. Meanwhile we used up 4 vacation days to be home. We spent many hours on the phone explaining the situation to Home Depot, so they finally suggested we cancel the transaction and repurchase the range. We made an appointment with the sales person at Home Depot. They assured us that all the information about our purchase was in their system and they only needed to refund our account and redo the sale. We scheduled a delivery date. My husband stayed home again, and received the range. When I came home I realized the range was a lower model than I had ordered, one with $200 less retail value. I was very upset. This oven did not have the special features I wanted, but I couldn't face going through all of this process again. I had already spent over a month without a range, and I had no confidence they would get it right, if I tried to exchange it at this point. I just had to accept this purchase. So, my husband went to Home Depot and received $200 refund. At the end, it took Home Depot about 6 weeks to deliver the range, and even then I am still stuck with lesser model.

August 4 I purchased a shower door for a rental property. The price I paid included measuring and installing the door.
On August 6, they were asked to take measurements... this did not happen until September 29... It is now October 24 and still not date to get door actually installed.
I will never prepay Home Depot for anything that includes their services.
Lots of other places that want business now, so pass on HD.

Home Depot on line completely failed us and they have yet to respond. We bought a dishwasher including install over the phone after shopping on line. We confirmed the installation and delivery date. When that date came they dropped the dishwasher off as scheduled but said they were not the installers (after our tenant took the day of to wait at home for the install). We called Home Depot and they apologized, admitted they were wrong, and we rescheduled the install and followed up again to confirm several times and they said we were all set up for the 2nd install. By the way - they said this about the first install as well. The day of the second planned install they never showed up. They never even called. Just blew us off and again our tenant waited at the house for them. About 2 weeks had gone by with no dishwasher and the new one sitting in our kitchen and the old one not removed or working. We called them many times. So the evening of the 2nd install failure and after considerable phone time and getting the run around they said they can not install in our state! We had even confirmed that originally with them and they said they could install in our state. We were shocked that all of a sudden they could not install in our state. They told us to get it installed and then ask for reimbursement. We did that. They have yet to reimburse us for the install or the fee for the removal of the dish washer. This whole episode was hours on the phone, and over a half a month between the first planned install until we finally did it at their request on our own. Again - they are now completely blowing us off. And they have admitted they were wrong! Awful awful on line business. Awful. Do not trust what they say! We feel so ripped off! It's seems like fraud because we would have bought the dishwasher somewhere else if we knew we would have to deal with our own install and wait and wait and wait. We only bought it from Home Depot due to the promised ease of delivery and install the same day! DO NOT TRUST HOME DEPOT!

Roof installation
October 12, 2017

The Home Depot not taking responsibility on installation services provided by their subcontractors. Installed roof has been leaking from the first year after installation, had been fixed and has been leaking again on the same spot next year, had been fixed and has another leakage week later, and another week later and so on up until they decide to install something had been forgotten to install on time of original installation. All this about The Home Depot in Canada. They are refusing to fix damages occurred as a result of leakage and also refuse to remove the roof and refund the customer. Very poor service for a very expensive price, never go with The Home Depot.

Jim, at lumber in the Redmond store, helped me a few days ago. He is the epitome of what customer service should be. He is an asset to the company. His willingness to help solve my problem with patience and perseverance is the reason I will come back to Home Depot before any of the competitor companies. Thank you, Jim!

Home depot will not post my review of their carpet pad that they charge 125% more than menards! $375.00 for a roll at Home depot. $160 at menards same exact product. They offer free install, but if you realize how much they are ripping you off on the upcharge for the carpet and pad, it's should be criminal! Here is their reply to my review... SMH
