Over an hour late, this was no good for me so had to cancel, still have to pay 30$ cancel fee, funny if i was late collecting or returning they charge me, dont bother go to anyone else

Terrible experience

Extremely disappointed! I had booked a Tesla a month before our rental date for my husband as a Christmas present. Hertz was aware of this and very accommodating saying they would even give us an upgrade to a Tesla Y for him as it is a present. I thought this was very kind. HOWEVER, when we arrived we were given a Tesla 3 (which is fine...not a problem) but it only had 48% charge. It had only 48% battery on it and we were planning to go to Banff straight away. We were told we could get there and have 8% battery remaining. I am definitely not taking that chance in the winter. If there is an accident or a traffic hold up then we are stuck on the highway in the winter in freezing conditions - this is an extreme safety issue they put us in. (Rental companies rent vehicles with a full tank of petrol...of course they should rent a vehicle with a full charge) They knew a month in advance of this booking...we did not just walk off the street and say we needed a vehicle! The car was extremely dirty inside and out - it was not washed at all from the last customer. Filthy. Plus, I am very cautious of car companies and check cars thoroughly before I leave the lot. The gentleman who gave us the keys was very annoyed I was taking photos and checking it. He kept telling me that he already did that and that is would be emailed all the photos. He was very rude with me checking the damage myself. It's a good thing I did check it myself because the email with all the photos did not arrive. Extremely upset with this hire car experience and the ruined Christmas present idea for my husband.

Nightmare.

Worst customer service I have ever had. Called five times and each time put on hold right after answering the phone. Most of those times, I had a simple question, but I had to hold for upwards of five minutes each time. The contract was not gone over and the car was not viewed in person with anyone from their service desk. Here's how this went down: Called and reserved car four days before. Called morning of to remind them to pick me up at Pete Moore Collision Center (where I was dropping off my car for a repair) and was put on hold for eight minutes. I waited an hour and forty minutes for someone to get me. The woman who picked me up told me that we had to drive to the other side of Pensacola in order to get a car. I asked why there was a Hertz literally half a mile away from our current location if we had to drive upwards of thirty minutes in order to get a car. When I got the keys, she said there were bugs on the front, but don't worry about those. We turned in the car to the same place we got it from and the customer service agent had no idea what charges could possibly go against my card. We did let the agent know that the car was not filled up. The next day, we got a call that we would be charged $10/gallon to fill up the car. When I argued the point (this is NOT in the contract nor was this EVER explained to me), they said they were going to be kind to me and charge me $75 instead of the actual $96 that it should be. I have called my insurance company and told them never to do business with these people again and I urge you not to make the same mistake that I did.

DO NOT USE!

I paid over 700 dollars for a rental in Bozeman MT in June 2021. I was rented a 2021 suburban and the vehicle leaked gasoline from the time we picked it up until the time we dropped it off. We contacted the location we rented it from, the Jackson Hole location, and Hertz corporate and NO ONE offered any solution. I guess if the vehicle had caught fire, maybe that would have generated a response. I have emailed, called, and wrote Hertz corporate with NO response. I will be contacting the BBB as well. DO NOT USE!

After comparing 6 car rental companies online for an upcoming trip, I opted to go with Hertz. The website showed me the cars available for the dates I needed, and with each car there was a Pay Now and a Pay Later rate to choose from. I made my selection, but found that neither tab worked. It didn't work on any car on the page or with either rate. I even closed the site, reopened, and reentered all my info. The same rate appeared, but I was still unable to choose a car. Then I noticed the chat screen in the corner, so I asked for help. I was answered promptly, with no waiting at all. I had to go through the explanation, then answer all the questions that I had already answered twice online, then she finally gave me a quote, which was $150 more than the online price. She asked me for more information so she could get it booked for me, but I said, no thanks, I want the rate on the website. She then told me they don't have set rates, and I should try back later, and then she DISCONNECTED! I have never been hung up on by a chat person. She wouldn't even ask what the rate was or what car I was looking at. Meanwhile, my computer screen still had about 10 minutes on the countdown before the rate expired. I will NEVER consider using Hertz again. They are dead to me.

Nothing good at Hertz
November 9, 2022

Rented from Hertz for a personal trip. The car was expected at the airport but was offsite, about a mile away. No shuttle, had to taxi. Once at the offsite pickup, asked if the car could be dropped off at the airport because they had a location at the airport. Said there would be a drop fee of $20. Because I had to be at airport by 6:00 AM and the pickup offsite location was seedy, the $20 fee was good option. However, the charge was $100 plus tax and they never emailed the receipt. I had to check CC activity to find it. When I went thru the process to dispute the bill, they send some type of automated response. Don't think a person even saw it. Additionally, the car had a bad battery and had to get it jumped at 5:00 AM. Don't think the car had ever been service as it was filthy under the hood. Also, the low tire indicator came on while driving and had to stop and check that. Hertz use to be a good company years ago when I used them for biz travel. I think they will bankrupt again and this time for good because they are a horrible company.

RIPPED OFF BY HERTZ!

I RENTED A CAR FROM HERTZ AT THE PHILADELPHIA AIRPORT.
DROVE IT 11 MILES TO A PARKING RAMP & WHEN I RETURNED IT HAD A FLAT.
I GOT A RIDE BACK TO THE AIRPORT & STOPPED AT THE HERTZ COUNTER TO GIVE THEM THE KEYS & TELL THEM WHERE THE CAR WAS.
HERTZ BILLED ME FOR $289.00! MORE THAN THE COST OF A NEW SET OF TIRES FOR THE SUB-COMPACT. THE BILL SAID I DROVE 70 MILES—NOT TRUE.
I WROTE A LETTER & RE-SENT IT TWICE—WAS IGNORED.
PRETTY SLEAZY TREATMENT OF A LONGSTANDING (AND LOST) CUSTOMER!

You DONT care!

This review is about my experience in the state of Israel renting a Hertz car. I am sorry but I have to wonder if you actually care about your brand or its reputation. You clearly dont care about your clients as you let these people rent their cars using your name and US based standards. I rented from hertz ( in the US) for a majority of my professional life through my work and travels, they were always courteous, caring and made some mistakes on the bills but were willing to listen and sometimes correct them. But the experience I had in Israel, does not compare in any way to your US based services.
1. I was never, and I mean NEVER until this day (20 days after I signed up for that car) had gotten a bottom line to how much I am paying, paid or will eventually pay.
2. car was just bad, alignment issues and gas milage issues
3. I was charged 3 times on my card by hertz! Non of these charges were approved by me or explained to me! They never sent me a break down of my bill. NOTHING! Just one email that says that they are about to charge me. What kind of a service is this?
I am considering canceling my CC to stop this behavior! Why do I need to feel so afraid for my money and security after renting a car?

I booked with Hertz for a recent trip to Orlando. I was told I would get a 4 door Ford Taurus or similar car with GPS. I was quoted an amount I would have to pay. When I got to Orlando to pick up the car, it was a 2 door compact car with no GPS. They said for $X more each day I could have the GPS and it was now more money than they originally stated. When I showed the rep the email printout of what I was expecting (which included the GPS for the week) he said he would talk to his manager. The rep comes back and looks at his computer and said "There must be a computer glitch. Let me see what I can do" He then said he would give me another car with GPS and acted as though he was giving me a better deal when, in fact, it was almost $100 more than originally quoted. It was late. I was tired. I kept telling my husband I wanted to go over to the Avis counter but he didn't listen and thought we should just get the car in case there was none available at the Avis counter. Well, guess what? The GPS did not work! We were driving around for a while to find the resort and we were not happy. The next day we saw a Hertz rental/repair shop and we went in and asked the guy about the GPS. He said it was very old and didn't know why they still have them in the cars. He did assist us though but we would have never figured how to use it if he was not there. No instructions at all.

The woman said that I couldn't put on my cologne inside the car that I rented hertz robbed me out of a extra 400 bucks of my hard earned money all because the vehicle smelled like my cologne wow hertz has the worst customer service I've ever seen I'll never ever shop with u guy ever in life hertz should hurry and go out of business because there robbing the community out of our hard earned money Baton Rouge airport u guys wrong for robbing me out my hard earned money wow

I do not even want to give the Bozeman Montana Hertz Rental even one star! The customer service was so bad. The girls I dealt with Lynn and Christina were so rude and disrespectful! I searched Hertz.com for a vehicle for our trip to Yellowstone a year in advance and confirmed a car for one week of $575.68. When we arrived at Bozeman they said that when I reserved the car I used a code for a company called Woodforest. I had no idea what she was talking about. I reserved the car by going to www.hertz.com. They said that if I could not show proof of working for that company I would have to start all over again. Which I had to do and they charged me $1274.56 for the new reservation. They accused me of stealing because they said I tried to use a code that was not allowed for me. I believe this is a scam and they add the code to everyone's reservation to trap you into reserving again! You are on your trip already and need the car what else are you to do but of course start over and they double charge you. They said the manager was on a vacation out of the country and nothing would be resolved until they got back. I never heard back from the Manager ever. I have had to call back every time. No one ever returned an email or phone call. NEVER EVER use Hertz. Check the reviews! The reviews are terrible! There is even a Facebook page called Hert Rent a Car Sucks! Now I know why!

I PREPAID FOR A CAR AND GOT SCREWED. YOU CANNOT RETURN THE CAR EARLY AND THERE INSURANCE IS WAY TOO HIGH. THEY CHARGE A FEE FOR NOTHING. YOU DO ALL THE WORK AND THEY GET MONEY. WOW WHAT A WAY TO MAKE MONEY. DO NOT USE THEM.

Horrible Experience

Horrible Experience! I took the car to Chihuahua Mexico paid $38 dollars extra per day for Mexican insurance GNP wish is a third party!
I got 2 flat tires in the highway from Juarez to Chihuahua! Called the Hertz insurance and they couldn't do anything because I was out of Country!
Still asked all this information and didn't help at all
The Mexican insurance who is contracted by Hertz took from 12 am to 6:40am I was constantly calling botth hertz and GNP was on the middle of the road it was a precipice on both sides at 6:40 GNP sent a towing truck took me to Chihuahua and they told me it was 5 to 6 days to process the claim
I finish buying the 2 tires I rented the car 10 days couldn't use it for 2 and When I return the car today
They gave me $140.00 for the 2 tires and a I am sorry and that's all!
Would I ever used this company?
Absolutely Not!

The (deceitful) art of generating additional revenue

I rented a car (0234LST) on 16/06 around 14:30 from the airport of Santiago de Compostela and returned the car on 17/06 at 21:30, same place. The car, upon collection was not checked by myself ( being in a basement carpark not well lit). A few days after the return I received a letter saying that a scratch was found on the car, costing 60 Euros de fix plus an admin charges of 50 euros. I am categorical that the damage did not occur whilst in my possession as I checked the car in daylight prior to returning it. The company, even though they cannot prove the damage was caused by me, insist that as I did not check ( or did not have photographic evidence of no damage), therefore the damage was caused by me. Upon request I was sent photos with the alleged damage, but the photos, with the alleged damage, had a time stamp of 07/07 and not the day i returned the car, 3 weeks earlier.
Renters, particularly those who do not take insurance, be aware that you will be presented with an additional bill for alleged damages and you are on a looser as you will never be able to prove that it was not you!
Really shoddy, dishonest and unethical business practice.
When, oh when will companies learn that you do not prosper by ripping off your business customers.
Shame on the architects of this strategy.
