I am an agent helping people apply health plans via healthcare.gov.
I have a client who has a dependent but only applies health plan for herself (for 3 years now). This year her son changed his name, and I couldn't remove her son with old name and add him back with new name. I also tried to remove the automatically generated 2019 application, but I couldn't. WTF!
Over $billion taxpayers' money was spent on thus bad website. Totally waste taxpayers' money!

Pathetic
January 29, 2018

My wife cancelled our service in June of 2016 when we were married - they never cancelled the service even though it was referenced in their notes that it was supposed to be. They billed us through 2016 even with dozens of phone calls. We received the 2016 tax form showing that we were covered through the year - multiple calls again to get the corrected tax form and finally received a tax form but it was for the wrong year. IRS claimed they were going to fine us for not getting the corrected form in on time. Now 2017 tax form comes and it showed coverage for half the year again stating they auto enrolled us again. The most ridiculous process I have ever been through...

I retired before 65 yo (medicare eligibility). Needed an affordable monthly insurance premium as I couldn't afford the state med insurance with student loans and a mortgage payment. I applied on HealthCare.gov and had a great agent for the Bright Health Insurance which helped me qualify for an extremely affordable monthly premium for my circumstances. What they neglected to tell me was that I would have to be paying back to the irs the tax credit I received and qualified for the full year I used this insurance at the time I would have to file my taxes. The total amount I owed back to the irs was over $5,000! I am a retired teacher and this is going to cause a financial burden for me. This is criminal! Wanted to warn anyone else thinking of using this insurance coverage.

Terrible Experience
March 10, 2018

I submitted documentation to prove my income from 2017 for healthcare coverage. My income for 2018 is cut by 2/3rds tried to get payments for coverage reduced instead increased it to $823 a month for just me. They sent me a letter and said I was eligible for an special enrollment period until May 10th, however somehow my original application got deleted, they then said I am no longer eligible for a special enrollment period and want to charge me $1700 a freaking month when I can apply in the fall of 2018 for 2019. Hell no thank you to either one I will go to my doctor pay him his 80 office call and go to Walmart and get my prescription for a 3 months supply for $16. My total monthly cost $96.00 I only hope to God i do not need any surgeries or to be hospitalized. These insurance companies are getting rich off the backs of Americans who work everyday for a living. Why in the hell are we the only civilized country in the world without universal healthcare?

I had a very similar experience. I couldn't get the healthcare.gov website to actually give me a real quote on what health insurance I could afford to buy. I wish they would have someone help you or the site were easier to use.

1099a forms
February 19, 2019

I have had marketplace insurance for 2 years. This year they decided to not provide a 1099a form for tax purposes. I made 5 calls to attempt to obtain the form. Each representative i spoke with provided a different excuse. Each one was incorrect. I realized my efforts were futile and they would not provide the help i requested. Dealing with the marketplace has been the worst experience ever.

I have been waiting for over a month to get a denial from the state because that's what Marketplace told me to do on several occasions. They told me that I would qualify for special enrollment once I received and uploaded the document. I called the supervisor today and she told me that I don't qualify even though I have a denial letter. I'm stunned how absolutely incompetent the Marketplace representatives are. This place doesn't even deserve one star!

Jumped through countless hoops for enrollment and eligibility, but once I was deemed eligible, I was told I now have missed open enrollment period. Filed an appeal, as lack of coverage could seriously jeopardize my health. The appeal is designed to allow for enrollment outside of open enrollment period. It took FOUR MONTHS for them to finally tell me i could enroll! I then spent TWO HOURS & FORTY MINUTES on the phone with no less than five different representatives. Each one told me something different than the one before about the final enrollment steps. I gave up when the 5th rep. Told me I needed to call the number I originally called nearly three hours earlier. I'm fortunate to have found enough financial help via charitable acts of private citizens and family members to at least have medications needed to survive. There is NO excuse for such an organization to conduct themselves this way. Especially when their actions have a direct affect on people's lives!

I've been calling the marketplace since January. Their website wasn't working and I had to submit numerous applications. I finally called to correct my app and was then enrolled into the wrong company. I paid united health care and they had me on file as a customer. Come to find out I was enrolled with Florida blue. Called the marketplace and spoke with a supervisor who assured me he was going to fix the mistake. Well his fix was to give me a special enrollment period with a retoactive date of February. Well guess what now Florida blue wants me to pay February to April to keep my coverage. This makes no sense. Why would anyone pay any company for services they never had? Never again will I use the market place. The supervisor I spoke with today was rude, short tempered and had no customer service skills at all. Where do they find this people. Idiots are US?

Awful

These people need to go to customer service training
They will call you nonstop. When you ask for a quote they will hang up on you.
You all need to record them at all times. I will rather pay for higher cost insurance than go through these people. Don't ask them for a quote they will hang up on you.

If I could give this site negative stars I would, but unfortunately 1 star is a low as I can go. Their phone support isn't any better. This is the 2nd greatest fraud perpetuated on the American people. The administration that produced this scam is the greatest fraud we have had to endure.

Every year they make it harder and harder to afford this help. I had BCBS and Cigna over the last 4 years. And eventually they raised premiums sky high. And this Health Marketplace gives no help. I blame this on the current administration. Because of all the funds being diverted to help their migrant invasion. And promising to help those millions and millions of migrants. That came up here illegally.

This website will confuse the heck out of you, i was beyond frustrated trying to enroll in coverage for my family. I decided to call the 1-800 number for assistance and boy I'm so glad I did. I received the best service from a young lady named Storie Jaye. No only did she help me enroll, she broke down every question to me so I could better understand! I'm so computer illiterate but this young lady deserves all the props in the world, sister girl did her thang! Only thing negative I have to say is that I wish she had a direct line! I suggest to everyone to call in and allow the reps to help you instead of trying to do it yourself...

Can I give a zero?
April 1, 2019

They all need to be retrained on what the exemption forms are and who gets the approval on them because you get transferred to different people and then they tell you to speak to irs because they don't know and then irs says you were supposed to speak to the marketplace they go back and forth on what and who makes decisions and then when you asking questions they don't know the answer so they go off talk about something else or put you on hold and they are keep having to ask somebody else and they don't even get an answer they just refer you to speak to the IRS and the IRS says they do not answer the questions about answers with health care exemptions. That the marketplace does it. You need to really retrain the people that talk on the phone.

What a load of crap! I was excited to learn that I would qualify for $583 a month in health subsidies. That should be enough to cover premiums on a good plan for one person. I quickly learned that wasn't enough to cover premiums on this truly worthless insurance. I would still have to pay $113 a month for insurance that covered absolutely nothing no dr visits or labs ECT until the insured paid over $7,000 in deductions. $150 would let me see the Dr. For $30 which sounded good until I did the math and figured I see my dr and get labs 4 times a year which would be about a years worth of premiums plus I'd be paying the $30 per dr visits. If I need extra work I'd have to pay $6,000 before the insurance paid for anything more. A complete waist of money.

TERRIBLE WEBSITE
November 9, 2020

I had to go through hell and back to attempt to log i to HealthCare.gov. I ended up sending a request to change my password. I answered every one of the security questions correctly, but then I received a message that I attempted to log in too many time and to try back in an hour. Piece of crap web site. Not only that, I received notice that my health insurance increased from $877 to $950 and I go to the doctor once a year.

You get what you pay for which amounts to next to nothing. One dr trip makes it all obsolete after you pat for what they don't cover, which is a bloody fortune.
