It seems it's not bad enough, that it's fairly rare to have an on-time, less than ice cold meal that the driver actually delivers to your door, when ordering from Grubhub. Or that the fees have sky rocketed. Or that any time something goes wrong, Grubhub just tells you to call the restaurant. Or that no matter how egregious the blunder, the only "customer service" answer is to offer a discount on a subscription to the service that isn't working for you.
Even with all that, I sadly trusted that Grubhub could deliver an important business lunch from the restaurant to my office directly across the street (it was a rare day in the office, clients coming for meetings and no one available to pick the food up). I ordered (and paid) 24 hours in advance and received a confirmation that I'd have lunch delivered the next day at 12pm. 30 minutes before 12, I got a text saying lunch would be delivered between 12 and 12:10pm. And at 12:10pm with an office full of hungry clients, I got a text saying my order was canceled and I had been refunded. I had no choice but to leave the meetings, and walk across the street to the restaurant to find out what had happened, and candidly, beg for the food. When I got there the restaurant was slow and the manager said he had not received any order but he would be happy to make the lunches. While I waited for the restaurant to prepare the food, my phone rang. It was an employee of Grubhub saying that the restaurant wasn't taking orders, that's why my order was canceled. I told the gentleman that I was in the restaurant and that they were indeed taking orders and currently making my food, and that I was very upset. He hung up on me (in fairness to him, I may have said... after being lied to..."this is bullsh#!").
This feels more like the Russian mafia than a service I (countless times) paid a premium for. Complete lack of commitment, loyalty or honesty is something that I and hundreds of thousands of others experience daily with this terrible company.
I've finally deleted the Grubhub app after complaining to a "customer service" rep (where I declined the oh-so-tempting subscription discount). I will not go back to Grubhub. Ever. Ever... ever ever ever.
Most restaurants don't take Grubhub orders so the company has to call them in themselves. I found no way to make substitutions or changes on any of my orders via the app. The estimates are always wildly inaccurate. Once one of my drivers traveled from 40 miles away to deliver my order. Seriously. I got GrubHub premium for free from Instacart and now I see why.
The only thing Grub Hub did right was to actually deliver the food to us. Food was FROZEN, and missing parts. Restaurant was very helpful & accommodating but because it used Grub Hub the refund to us HAD TO COME FROM GRUB HUB. I'm 4 phone calls and just over 3 weeks in so far and still have not received my refund. Too many food delivery services out there to pay Grub Hub's ridiculous upcharge! Not again.
Now that I've come here the seemingly only place to leave a review about Grubhub I can see why I had the worst experience EVER! Driver NEVER showed I stood outside waiting. There's no number to reach support immediately. They listed a random email instead on my own I signed up through apple

$30.00 Order total. $15.00 and change to Grub Hub ON TOP of the inflated menu prices. And you can only increase a predetermined driver tip? Are you Effing kidding me?!? Should be illegal. Never never never, I'd rather starve. Drivers are not the issue, I actually know a couple from the community - nice guys, good service. The problem is Grub Hub itself, price gouging during a pandemic. Shameful.
I own a asian restaurant and I use Doordash and also UberEATS by far GrubHub is the worst. The customer service is terrible, restaurants if you are not paying attention to YOUR ORDERS at the end of the night you may not be getting paid for CANCELLED ORDERS. Grubhub will try to charge the restaurants unless you call GrubHub and ask what has happened and why did I not get paid for an order. Now Grubhub is now allowing the customer to call GrubHub via phone to place a pickup order. The customer pays GrubHub for this service and that time can decline to pay over the phone and pay directly to the restaurant once they arrive at the restaurant if they arrive to pick the food up. THE ONLY WAY THE RESTAURANT HAS NOTIFICATION THE CUSTOMER HAS TO PAY FIRST TO PICK THE FOOD UP IS 1/8" LETTERS THAT SAYS "CASH " that it that's the only notification that we receive. That's Bs we received no notification that this service to the customer is even available. Grubhub will not talk to me about this matter and I have received no funds from these orders that the customers didn't pay for. Customer service nope a supervisor was suppose to get in contact with me again I have heard nothing not a email either but I did get my account closed. I'll keep my business with Doordash and UberEATS.
I'm tired of Grubhub delivery driver leaving the wrong order and the only satisfaction they can give you is a refund for your order I don't want a refund I want my food. I try to support delivery services but this is the 3rd time Grubhub has screwed me
If I could give this zero stars I would I was waiting for my delivery and the order was completely wrong and the customer service people refused to give me my money back and she was rude. Driver sent that it was delivered to text and never made it here. Grub hub tried to down play it and offer 25% off next order. When you take someones cash it called being a thief. Nice job grup hub organized crime. Filling a police report tonight.

They take your food elsewhere and blame you stating they know they went to the right address and say oh I'm sorry and say 5-7 business to get your money back I don't recommend they use doordash instead I wish It was an option for NO STARS CAUSE IT DEFINITELY THEM
Waited for my order. Ordered three items only got one. Still charged 28.83 and have to wait 5-7 days for refund. Driver was told items were missing. I wasn't given option to just cancel. I had to call around and see where everything was. No one contacted me.
In addition to adding a few dollars to each menu item you order, there are a couple different "service fees" that add a significant amount to the total. Our dinner ended up costing about 50% more than it would have if the restaurant did direct ordering (which it used to, before Grubhub came along). To make it worse, they add their own "service fee" of $7.95 but suggest a tip of $1 for the driver. When their bit is automated and doesn't need to eat. Voracious raping weasels, I call it. "GrubHub" is the right name--grubbing for money at working people's expense.

Grubhub offers coupons in app that pop up as banners. You click them, it says they are added to your cart and when you click checkout it says the offer is expired. Or if you are signing up for a streaming service it will pop up saying get a free year of Grubhub plus and you hit redeem it says the offer is expired. They offer fake promo codes and don't honor them. Offers don't expire in under a minute. They are dishonest.
The last few times I've ordered through GH it's taken longer than an hour. Tonight it took almost two hours then I noticed my driver changed as he was going to pick up my food. I called my new driver and she said there was a glitch with their system then 15 min later my order was canceled by GH. It took them over 2 hrs to cancel my order. I will never order there again..
I had my daughter order food for her my 2 grandkids and myself. Order arrived. My daughter and myself got food. The driver left my grandkids food at the place. Called her less than 1 minute later no response sent text telling her she left my grandkids food still no response. Call GrubHub it's self. I'm told no, no one is going to bring the kids there food. It's $#*!ty my grands had no food and didn't like what my daughter and I ordered. No vehicle at the time so not like I could go get them something. On top of it all good was over 35 min late. Never ever again will I use this service. Wish I could give a double zero.
