Have been a customer for 11+yrs with multiple domains. When Godaddy changed their web builder and marketing product, it took away capabilities to fix coding, the multiple issues and limited my internet exposure. Long story short, my contact from Godaddy's head office offered a full refund for what I paid, as I have had no exposure and no sales for over a year. What was a good little thriving business was lost. It's interesting to note that this contact, a Godaddy employee and his wife seem to have their own personal websites and ironically use Wordpress and not Godaddy's own web builder. Once I deleted my website as he asked, he now continues to waste my time with a multitude of issues with refunding this amount and excuses for why he cannot get the refund in full to me. After much back and forth and promising the BBB he was working for me, the latest is that he is now TELLING me that he sending a cheque in US funds for what amounts to less than I paid in Canadian funds and what was promised. I cannot help what the exchange rate is to deposit this cheque and since Godaddy charged me in Canadian funds (not the credit card i paid with), there should be no reason for this shady business.
I've used them for 20 years and they used to be reasonable. The past 3 years they have morphed into a ripoff factory. They add services to your products that you don't need when you call for support. They make it sound like you're getting a great deal and put you on auto renew for everything. I was charged for emails accounts and web hosting services that I never signed up for and they won't refund me. THEY ARE SHYSTERS. USE THEM AT YOUR OWN RISK.
Truth be told... GoDaddy is like AOL used to be. They advertise a ton, but they are basically for people who are not familiar with domain names or hosting.
Their domain name signup is extremely spammy and uses hard upsells. They tell you that you "need" a whole bunch of stuff that in fact you don't need, is free with other domain companies, and doesn't do what it says it does anyway. I used to have a ton of domains with them, but have switched all of them to a company that is the same price, doesn't constantly harass you with phone calls, and provides free privacy protection, (which GoDaddy charges for).
Second, their hosting is probably one of the worst. In fact, I once had someone tell me that you can tell a "good web developer" by asking them their opinion of GoDaddy hosting. No one who knows anything at all uses them for hosting. They are terrible, and have all kinds of weird configuration settings that are a nightmare if your site uses any kind of database whatsoever.
Then... there is their marketing practices. A year ago, I complained to them about their "soft core porn" tv commercials, explaining that women own businesses too, and that the commercials are offensive. They flat out told me that women are not their demographic, and that the owner likes these types of commercials, (he obviously like to also post videos of himself killing elephants on YouTube). They told me that if I didn't like it, I could go elsewhere. Guess what? I did GoDaddy, and I'm spreading the word!
Nine Lyn Protective Services (NLPS) is a very reputable, professional, experienced, and provides hands on training to prepare for fire arm handling and license. You will not regret it.
There is no option in Godaddy's website to file a complaint which is the usual thing companies do to encourange communication and feedback between the company and their clients.
I have been using Godaddy for years and I feel totally cheated. Since users can't write nor chat to obtain support and users can just call, I have been 'helped' by call agents. Those have given me wrong advise I see now that I have been paying as if I were a company with 25-30 websites when I just am a normal simple home user with one website.
I don't have much money but now I am stuck with paying 50 euros per month for services I have never and will never use. I have been totally cheated by Godaddy. I have never felt this way with anohter company. I have lost at last 2000 euros, but it feels worse. I feel I have ben cheated 2000 euros.
It seems the call agents work on commission and they have just sold me anything that was good for them and not for me. I insist, it's very hard for me to pay that money and I am not even using it. I am leaving Godaddy as soon as possible.
I want to ask a refund for having been mislead with information about hosting services I never needed.
It's very horrible that Godaddy behaves this way.
I once had a site hosted by Go Daddy. They have very poor customer support and their hosting sucks. The staff aren't very friendly and they called me by phone about canceling my website. DON'T CALL ME! EMAIL ME INSTEAD DAMN IT! That's about it.
When I paid for my website hosting and design I also paid for design services that were going to be available after the website was built. The person at GoDaddy repeatedly congratulated me on the wise choice of getting the additional services that I could rely on to help me manage my website. I called today to schedule a call with this design services and was told I don't have that service. My profile showed that I had commerce design services which I don't need and never asked for. After several transfers on a call to GoDadddy and promises to arrange for a call the call ended, and GoDaddy never called me back, AND they even asked to verify my phone # so they could call me back if the call was lost. Their customer support is farmed out to overseas call centers. The sale team will guarantee anything, and the US contacts are inconsistent...one person you get on a call when building your website is sharp, and the next one if an old dolt. I wish I had done a deeper investigation...and I suggest you do if you're considering GoDaddy. Hire someone in your area...it might cost a few dollar more...or maybe not...but you'll be better off.
Its last time i using them host service. GoDaddy service are rape off. They give me really limited space even did't have space for my wordpress theme i try to download, i have to call them about that. Then i start having trouble to using my plugins, they SSL service super expensive like 70$ a year, when in other services its 5$-10$. I used free hosting service at 000webhost.com and i have more space and SSL was include free. So i decide keep my domain name with GoDaddy, and change my hosting to other services much cheaper and more reliable where i don't have to call to customer support, i can just chat online. So i call those greedy bastards and guy on a phone tell me, Im out my refund window, so money i paid for hosting won't be refund. What a Fu... ing assh. S i used them service like 3 weeks and paid for a year ahead. Charged me my money for nothing and don't refund my money back, also its call stealing. They doing $#*!tup business, i would never will use this hosting service again. They have good domain names service i like it, but other think i had really negative experience work with them. So my advise do your research first, its much more better services then them.
Do Not go to go daddy they have continued to charge my credit card for three months after i canceled.
If you talk to Julian< who is supposed to be in charge of cancellations, Do not belive a word he SAYS!,
STAY AWAY FROM GO DADDY
Hi Tim-
I am sorry to hear about your recent experience. I want to investigate what happened. I have sent you a private message requesting additional information.
Thanks,
Jenny
If you have no needs- Go Daddy is fine. But if they "accidentally" charge you after you've turned off auto renew- good luck getting your money back!
If I could rate it zero, I would. This morning, I visited my page and was nearly shocked to my core. There, on MY page, was an insertion claiming that the domain I had purchased was unavailable. It suggested they could assist in acquiring it for $69.99 as broker fees, and who knows what else. I promptly contacted GD and spoke with an agent who confirmed that the domain was indeed mine. However, he stonewalled me when I insisted that they remove the misleading insertion from my page immediately.
How could they offer such a thing, and why was it even on MY page in the first place? It seems they will stop at nothing to squeeze money out of you.
Moreover, this incident made me realize that THEY were the ones who had taken my previous domain from me, just two days after I hadn't paid, using the exact same insertion! This means that if I want to reclaim the name I created, I have to pay them at least $69.99. It's truly scandalous and utterly disgusting.
To add insult to injury, on September 16, I received an email thanking me for my order and stating that I would benefit from a one-month premium plan trial. Then, on the 19th, I received another email informing me that my trial would end on September 22nd. What happened to the promised 1-month trial?!?!?!
So, I'll refrain from further comments, as my frustration could lead me to use impolite language. If I had the choice, I would terminate my association with them immediately and consider legal action against their practices. My advice: steer clear. Everything about GoDaddy seems misleading.
I made a payment to my domain that i have owned for a year. They canceled my payment saying they need to verify my identity. So they asked me to upload forms, which i did. They said they would get back to me in 72 hours. Which they did not. So now FIVE DAYS LATER AFTER MISSING THE ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF OUR ORG BC THE SITE WAS DOWN, they say they can't see the secure forms that we uploaded and can we send all of that info via NOT SECURE email...this is like a 2 bit operation out of someone's basement. DO NOT RECOMMEND.
I just renewed my domains. They have been set not to auto renew from the beginning. I get an email reminder. I have also paid for privacy from the beginning. I accidentally touched the auto renew on one domain which switched it on and then it wouldn't let me switch it back off. When I paid for both, it had switched them both to auto renew. It wouldn't let me switch them off and bounced off the screen before I could even click on it every time I tried.
I tried to get them on live chat on 2 different browsers, but it didn't work, even though it says 24/7, so I had to ring them and wait on hold. When the person finally answered and I told him what happened and asked him to switch the auto renew off, all he did was argue with me that the auto renew was always on because of the privacy, which has not been true for the entire time I have been with them. He told me he'd have to switch off the privacy and refund me for that, which doesn't make sense and which I don't want, and I finally said I wasn't going to argue with him and put the phone down.
I don't want to have my website after my hosting expires next year, and I don't want to have to remember the different dates when the renewals are and get charged and have to hassle with godaddy over it one way or another. That's just one more thing to worry about that I don't need.
Their recording told me that they couldn't wait to exceed my expectations, so I at least didn't expect an argument. My expectation was only that they would switch the auto renewal off and not argue with me about it. I don't think that's too much to ask.
I moved my website and canceled the service. Go daddy charged me for years for search engine visibilty@ $35.88 a year.
* I didn't catch the charge the first year.
*The second year I called to question it and was told I don't have any account.
* Third year I contacted them via email and tried on the website (could log on cause I don't have an account anymore)
* Fourth year I challenged the charge on my credit card which go daddy fought and won. * Fifth year I changed my card and got a notice that they couldn't charge me, that one had a customer id number on it so I called and spoke to billing and supervisor (raymond). Finally closed service but was told i cant be refunded because when i moved my website and canceled my service i didn't cancel the recurring renewal. When you cancel the service and billing doesn's stop I guess that's the customers fault! Was told that the service was not being provided for the last 5 years but that they could not refund the payments. Worst company and customer service ever!
First I have been with GoDaddy for 4 years. First year was discounted so the 2nd year my price increased 38%. The third year it increased 25% and the 4th year it increased another 25% and why it went up those two years I don't know. I checked before I renewed the 4th year and a support person said it was the same as the the third year. HA. This would have been my 5th year but they have changed the plans so if you want SSL and SEO then you have to change to a whole new plan or pay extra (alot) to get those features. Biggest problem is new plan templates are CRAP and nothing that will work for me plus all the extra work to make a new website. The new plan is the same price as I paid for this but I bet this years price is likely to go up again as it has every year in the past. Called support and all he said was it's like changing Iphones. Really I know nothing about Iphones and I was not calling about an Iphones and I don't care about Iphones. Anyway he said too bad change to a different, company if I don't like GoDaddy. I waited 20 minutes on support and that was the answer I got. So I would NOT recommend GoDaddy - too many prices changes, most support is terrible (I did get one gal one time that was helpful) and they change things so it causes the user more headaches and problems. I would suggest you skip GoDaddy and shop elsewhere.
One of the fraud, company money, making company and people wasting time in the God daddy
Request Govinda domination like wasting name, cheap other domains
I have been a long time customer, who regularly buys. I don't believe I ever complained and I honestly believed that they had the best customer service I had ever seen.
However, in the past year before covid and at the beginning of covid, I had a few changes of heart, and with the pandemic, everything changed. I no longer have clients or the time to build the website, which I thought I would. Now there is about 2+ years left on something that I have never used and I can't get reimbursed the balance due to the policy that states that you have to buy something else if you want your money back (so you do not get your money back) or be within 30 days.
But what if I don't need something else? What if I just want the balance, or the balance minus a cancellation fee?!?! They say it's simply not possible. You need to be within certain parameters, but even then, you don't actually get reimbursed you get instore credit! It kidda changed things if it's 700$ or 25$ you are trying to get back.
So my first recommendation would be to go elsewhere.
If you still decide to go with them, pay monthly even if it's a bit more expensive. At least until you are certain that you will use the service and then renew annually.
From a customer that now understands that GoDaddy will be there to take your money, but never be there to support your real goals (even if they say they do).

3 days of being locked out and the support staff are dreadful. Truly the worst customer service I have every experienced in 30 years.
Answer: Do not use this company. Go daddy excessive fees, will keep adding fees claiming lack of security, and also has a policy that will ask for private information such as passport, license if you ever change your phone number even though they will talk to you on the phone.
Answer: We offer an easy to use E-Commerce website builder. Here is a link where you can sign up for a free trial: https://www.godaddy.com/websites/online-store
Answer: Did you have any luck with this. We have been ripped off by them for 4 years and have only just succeeded in closing the account. Thanks for posting.
