Telephone operator is not fluent in geography: thought I wanted some place out West instead of in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
The check in took 25 mins the air conditioner not working properly. The tv would not work and the desk clerk had knowledge on how to operate.
I have not used my purchase so I can only comment on my phone experience with the representative who handled my call. His name is Renaldo and he was an exceptional listener who knew how to respond to my needs and handled my reservation beautifully!
Least expensive of all the sites listed. Was hesitant but tried it anyway. Very pleased with the cost and the service
Save yourself money and headache and do not use this service. I booked three nights at a hotel, was quoted the nightly rate, but then charged $230.46 in unexplainable fees. They would not provide me with amy itemization of the fees. I don't mind paying taxes and a reasonable service fee, but they are ridiculous.
I called and asked politely for an invoice itemizing the charges and they refused to provide.
DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE!
I booked a hotel for my upcoming holiday in Dubai, UAE through Getaroom and the information was so clear with no hidden charges, and out of everything else their prices were the best.
Thank you.
Hi Wafa,
Thank you for the great feedback! We appreciate it and are so glad we could save you money!
Sincerely,
Getaroom
I was satisfied with the price, but I'm not satisfied with the fact that I did not get two queen beds in the room. He told me he put in the request, but when everything was confirmed it was one king size bed I am disappointed in that. I questioned him about it but he said he put in the request. I should have had him confirm that before submitting the order. I feel like he was just only after a sale.
We got a great rate on a 4 star hotel in a great location. The other sites rates were more expensive, thank you
Thank you for the great feedback! We appreciate it and are so glad we could save you money!
Sincerely,
Getaroom
I called the number that was linked on what I thought was the Quality Inn direct 800 #. Not at one time did the operator even mention it was bookaroom.com! They answered as "thank you for calling hotel reservations how may I assist you today?" My room was booked 2months in advanced and charged at the time of booking. I called 1 month before my flight to change my check in and departure date and they said I would have to loose my reservation and rebook. Now not one time did she mention that I would loose my money and pay AGAIN until I asked her why they needed my card information again they should of had it on file. I then realized I was suckered into one of those THIRD PARTY companies that somehow sneak onto what you believe to be the real deal dealing with Hotel Corporation directly. Buyers beware... make sure to check your web address before clicking call now... or click here to book. I will forever learn my lesson on this.
(one day Later) UPDATE: I have been reached out to by the GetARoom staff member. Within the hour of making my original review. She promptly made arrangements to have the hotel change the dates to check in a day earlier but because of the original reservation being made is non-refundable, normally they wouldn't make changes... but they can and will go out of there way to resolve the issue if you do complain. SO FAR SO GOOD. I'm hoping all goes okay on day of my check in. Now lets see how it goes when I get to Hotel a day earlier. I'm hoping there is no issues with me having to pay again. I will post an update at that time. But so far I am happy they did contact me to try and resolve.
Updating my review, after speaking directly with the hotel and calling back I managed to get a refund processed. I'm happy with the resolution however I still don't recommend their service.
Original review: Didn't see anything about these addictional fees until after the booking was made. Attempted to cancel and was told they could only cancel after taking my full payment. They'd then speak to the hotel about offering me a refund, if the hotel apparently refused, I'd have neither the booking or my money. Total scam Don't ever use
No confirmation, I will have to call the hotel to see if I really have a room...
I have never had this happen with any other sites
I cannot believe this company are allowed to do business. You think you are booking with the hotel. They quote a price, you select this and put your details in, then click place reservation and then they hit you with another charge. Not shown above this button. It is misleading and a massive SCAM. Because I booked a non refundable room they say I cannot do anything about it. Just read the 100's of social media comments of people who have been ripped off. Hope you sleep at night!
Headline price +/- £183 after providing credit card details for payment total bill £260+ fortunately I can afford to pay this amount and can't be bothered to complain to a phone no. Based in the USA where I can understand tactics like this are deemed acceptable. So, if you are trying to book a hotel, firstly make sure you are communicating with the hotel, not this outfit. And if you are happy to continue with this outfit look out for "add ons" fees etc which are almost equal to 50% of the headline price. What I will be doing is advising friends and family to avoid doing business with these people. I am surprised Hilton Hotels have an association with them.
I made a reservation for a hotel from what looked like the hotel's reservation desk. After making the reservation and getting a confirmation, there was a 40% up charge for the room for "Tax Recovery Charges &Service Fees". And I was informed the reservation was non refundable. I tried to call their customer service but their 800#,( after the operator told me it would be a 2 minute wait) kept hanging up and I never got to speak to anyone. This is a very fraudulent, misleading company DO NOT book thru them and watch for their name before you make any reservations, I'm contacting the BBB as well as Hilton hotels, who they were trying to represent,
Was good, got a hotel i wanted that was sold out everywhere else! Will try to book with them again when i am looking at hotels
Getaroom resolved the following issue quickly and I received a refund
I went on the Choice hotel website and it transferred me to a third party reservation agentGetaroom. I am a senior and was so confused by the agent. I really did not understand that I had been redirected to a third party. I was incredibly confused and if the recorded conversation was replayed, I'm sure that my confusion would be audible. Nevertheless, we were driving to SC and made a reservation to stay at a hotel midway but ended up evacuating due to hurricane Dorian and had to cancel and rebook my reservation. I tried to get a live agent on the phone to cancel through Getaroom but it took me about 30-45 minutes which was just after the cancellation time of 12:00. The 2nd agent I spoke to was polite but still a little confusing and I had to stop her several times because I didn't understand. She felt confident that they would review my case and refund my money. They charged my card on 9/3 and it is 9/12 and they have not reviewed my case. I rebooked my room through the actual hotel and it cost at least $20 less. The agent at the hotel was so understanding that she personally called Getaroom and disclosed that I had indeed rebooked at the same hotel. No one can afford to pay twice, especially a senior on a fixed income. I will have to contact a senior advocate or group that understands that using harsh tactics and fast talking to confuse and intimidate older citizens is not acceptable. Lesson learned, call the hotel directly! Do not go to third party agents.
Bottom line: I was 45 mins past the cut off for cancellation. Cancellation was due to a weather event which was out of my control and agent tactics were confusing, not friendly and pressure driven. If there is any question about this I would urge the company to listen to the audio.
Advice to othersgo directly to the hotel for booking
I didn't like that the only way that you could reserve a room at the special price was to have to pay for it right now. We are four months away from staying here
Good service, but the process to change one reservation date was convoluted, needing three separate connections and one hour to complete
I searched online for a specific hotel's website to make a reservation. Apparently, the site I chose had a toll free number to call, so I did. The agent that assisted me, although very cordial, did not once identify themselves as a Get A Room agent so I just assumed I was booking with the hotel directly. The next morning I get 7 reservations for a 14 day stay booked two days at a time! I called back to cancel and was told they could not refund my money unless the hotel refunded their money. In addition, the service fees for the 7 reservations were added and utterly ridiculous. Very sneaky Get A Room! Never Again!
Answer: They are not ethical. For me, they used a website that appeared to be the actual hotel website, did not identify themselves when they should have, and did not mention booking fees while they charged a 30 percent booking fee for a room that was its normal price. They were supposed to cancel charges on my credit card and did not. STAY AWAY!
Answer: They are a site attached to Trip Advisor---- if you see them on screen while trying to book a room-- hit cancel. I'm out over $150 because of their fraudulent cancellation policy.
Answer: Thought I was booking on the actual hotel sight but was deceived in as much as it was Getaroom. Talked to someone else also staying at this hotel at the same for about a third less. Called them right back and had already charged my card and it would be up to 3 weeks to refund. That's about what it took but did get refund. Then checked reviews and no one had anything good to say about getaroom. Go straight to hotel sight of one you know and trust or stick with something like Travelocity.
Answer: I'm definitely in. There's something very deceptive, if not illegal, when you start off on a hotel's website and when you click Make a Reservation, it somehow transfers you to the GetARoom site without your knowledge. I had no idea this was done until I received their email confirmation. I'm thinking of contacting my state's Consumer Protection Div. Of the AG's Office to file a complaint when I get back from vacation.
Answer: Call 800-468-3578 but good luck. They are scammers
Answer: Wow. This is one bad company. Made a reservation and then needed to cancel. They gave cancel date all along. I called to cancel on that date and was told that date was only for 1 minute of date they told me. I was supposed to forfeit one night's cost. Luckily I made reservation on AMEX and they'll tell this fraud company to get lost. Moral of the story: make reservations through hotel.
