Getaroom's website is deceptive, misleading and deceitful. The price displayed for 2 nights was $116, which was slightly less than other sites ($68/night on Booking, Expedia, Priceline). Once I entered credit card information, the charge tripled to $343.95. I immediately called to void the charge. The service representative quoted their "no cancellation" policy. This is not a traveler friendly company who wants to keep you as a customer. Using "no cancellation for any reason" policy to justify their outrageous upcharges is certainly a sign they know this business is a scam.

I am following up from my first review. I wanted to share that customer service took the time to consider our situation and responded by saying we would get a full refund within 3-5 days. I also want to add that they responded and resolved this almost immediately.

Getaroom booked a room for us in the wrong city and state. We called a representative directly at about 3:30PM who refused to change the booking claiming the time for cancellation had passed per hotel policy. We called the hotel directly and they stated that the cut off time for cancellation was 6:00pm. So the Getaroom representative lied and refused to help us.

However, after complaining on this site, customer service responded with a few hours to grant a refund. I appreciated that effort. I was unfortunate one customer service person made our experience difficult.

Tip for consumers:
Make sure you are getting booked where you want to go or be. If one customer service representative will not help, call again until you find one that has the correct information and is willing to help

Products used:
None. Getaroom made the reservation in the wrong city and state and would not change it even though well with in the hotel's cancellation or change policy.

I made a reservation for a hotel in London for the end of April and the charge on my card was 30% more than what I saw and agreed too. Additionally, the terms and conditions did not display on payment nor was a provided with a pre-payment summary. I went to cancel the booking within 10 minutes of making it and was told I would have to pay $800 in cancellation charges. I am a student and I just simply don't know how they can justify charging $800 dollars to cancel a $1000 booking for the end of April. It is not like this is a last minute cancellation. There is more than enough time to make up the revenue

UPDATE: By way of an update, I would like to state that 2-3 days after my initial review, Getaroom did refund me the full amount of the charge and they handled the complaint quickly and professionally.

Update: getaroom reached out to me to resolve my issue. I only hope that, moving forward, they prioritize transparency in regards to them being a third party booking service rather than pretend to be the hotel's own direct site.
For their response to me, I'm upgrading the review, but in fairness, getaroom, be upfront about your third party status to avoid the negative reviews.

Original review:
Thought I was booking a room directly with the hotel, turns out it was via getaroom, which will not refund the second night of my stay which is no longer needed. No attempt at all, just a flat out "no". Do yourself a favor and call the hotel to book directly.

Tip for consumers:
They seem to respond to multiple negative reviews if you're not having any luck with a refund.

1st booking was wrongly advised as fully refundable and the website is denying it. I needed to update to 4 days instead of 2. The CS representative wanted to book a whole new 4 nights and "hopefully request a waiver on the first reservation" I was not willing to be stuck with $300+ on a duplicate wrongfully non-refundable 2 nights so I just went with 2 separate reservations. The new booking my e-mail confirmation shows refundable so that pleases me. Im seeing reviews that this website didn't pay the hotels so I'll be calling Golden Nugget to let them know this is all paid in full and be sure they get their money. This is my first and last time booking with getaroom.com

Hesitated at first because it reminded me of snap travel and they totally screwed me over with a reservation that was made by mistake and didn't want to give my money back even though EVERY other party was on board with the refund. Horrible experience, terrible customer service and greedy little armpit of a company, so yeah Hesitated for sure.

I have cancelled two different reservations from this company. They give me the run around about how they are processing it, yet they still have not issued a refund. In one instance, the hotel agreed to the refund. In the pother instance, the dates were simply moved, yet the getaroom is charging me for two separate rooms. I would try to avoid this booking service, at all costs. They are not reputable.

I reserved a room to travel with a team. When the game was cancelled, the team was able to change their reservations. My friend was able to get a refund. But I was not able to do either, despite 48 hours notice. Couldn't get back the $50 service fee, either.
Addendum: after filing the above review, I was contacted by getaroom, and they were able to cancel the reservation and refund the payment.

Was quoted 224 over the phone when I received credit card statement it was 324, called stated it was taxes and fees, they charged 100 dolllars in taxes and fees and lied about the quote, I asked to speak to a manager put me on hold every time for over a hour. I called back asked the operator if she could playback my conversation since they said it was recorded, no they don't have it, needless to say this is a scam, save your money use any site but this one, I thought it was legitimate since it was on the holiday inn express picture but it's not. Resolved to my satisfaction, Get a room refunded the difference very promptly,

After submitting a negative review of Getaroom on Sitejabber, I recieved a prompt call from a helpful customer service rep who told me they would issue a full refund. Within about five business days the refund appeared on my credit card. It took some doing, but this business stepped up and ultimately did the right thing.

Update: After many hours, things are successfully resolved. My original issue is listed below my update. After contacting the hotel I wanted to book, they told me what I would need to do to get a refund from GetARoom. I contacted GetARoom and after doing what the hotel manager told me to do, I was able to get a full refund. I still needed a room so I called the hotel directly and booked with them. The total bill when dealing directly with them was a little over 900.00 for a three night stay Friday -Saturday vs over 1,800.00 for a 4 night stay Friday -Tuesday with GetARoom. I am thankful for my refund, but carefully check your options to see if you get any added perks or something special if you book with GetARoom because the cost is much higher.

Originally Concern: I booked a room for a high school golf team and the tournament dates changed. Get a Room would not work with me to make any changes without charging over 500.00 in penalties. My room stay ended up being over 1800, 00 for ONE ROOM when if I booked directly with Holiday Inn it would have been less than 1200, 00 for 4 nights.

Tip for consumers:
Make sure you are not using Get A Room.com - just go directly to the site of the place you want to stay or contact a travel agent. Even my travel agent could get the room for the same rate Holiday Inn would have charged if I booked it directly. Beware of this third party site.

Requested some of a prepaid booking to be refunded due to my family testing positive for Covid. We canceled 48hour prior to arrival. I expected something returned, not zero as they required proof of positive test and made me up load our results.

After my complaint, getaroom.com, refunded the entire amount of prepaid hotel fee. I am now grateful.

Tip for consumers:
Go direct to the Hotel, they are more have better cancelation policies and the price difference is only tens of dollars.

I booked a hotel room in Punta Cana in February 2020. Upon booking I was sure, that I was dealing with a hotel website. It turned out though, that it was actually a Getaroom booking website. Upon booking I was charged with additional service and tax costs, which were not mentioned in the system upon booking. I then decided to cancel my reservation. Initially Getaroom Customer Care and Escalations service refused to cancel the booking. But recently I have got the full refund of my reservation for which I am thankful to Getaroom.

Tried booking a room directly with Hyatt Regency San Antonio. Ending up booking a room through a third party but did not know it at all. I called 48 hours in advance to just modify my room date and they would not make any exceptions to move the date because they told me I was 5 hours late in calling them. Be cautious here.

UPDATE: Monday, May 23,2022: Getaroom.com did email me and refunded my money as a one-time exception. Thank you very much for making this refund happen as my business plans changed last minute.

Travel agent (decades of experience) was steered to this website when booking us a room at Embassy Suites in Napa Valley, California - after a couple of days with no record of the booking on the hotel website, I called Hilton (owner of Embassy Suites) and was given their reservation number - the amount paid to the hotel was a bit more than $300 for 2 nights (peculiar since I'd paid almost $600, but we'd requested a pet in room and knew that fee was $150). After we checked out, we got a charge receipt for the pet fee, on top of the large amount we'd paid. No help from getaroom yet on the discrepancy.

Called for unpublished rates. And service member seemed to have just woke up from a deep sleep with slurs speech and incorrect read back when verifying what I was looking for. This did happen quickly, and the customer service worker Jackie was polite and efficient in getting this accomplished. I understand that prior to paying all of the conditions were there but I did not know I was on Get A Room site, so thought I would be able to customize. My initial review was one star due to the time and aggravation it was taking to obtain my refund. Since then I did receive a full refund so I have upgraded my review to a 3 star. My advice is keep all correspondence with getaroom and use a major credit card as both of those will help you obtain a refund. The refund process took longer than it should but in the end the refund was obtained. I cancelled my reservation with getaroom and went with a different site but at the same hotel. So the hotel room was fine but the refund process needs effort.
