I had a very simple call about an insurance policy matter and I waited a full thirty-five minutes on line in order to speak with a representative. The man who eventually came on the line was helpful, but the wait was excruciating. Surely TD Meloche Monnex can do better than this.


After submitting a negative review of Getaroom on Sitejabber, I recieved a prompt call from a helpful customer service rep who told me they would issue a full refund. Within about five business days the refund appeared on my credit card. It took some doing, but this business stepped up and ultimately did the right thing.

I recently flew from Stockholm to Oslo on Norwegian and was impressed with the quality of the service from the check in to my departure from the terminal in Oslo. The staff was friendly and helpful. I particularly liked the boarding process through the front and back of the plane. The cabin seemed to have more legroom than the typical North American sardine can. The flight, while short, was comfortable, on time and easy.


I was referred to this company last year when my local agency advised me they no longer did US returns. It was handled remotely from a residence based office in Virginia. Don't be fooled by the slick web site; this appears to be a one person operation. I paid over $678 to have my US return completed and filed. It took weeks for Mary Beth Lougen to complete the return and I was subjected to frequent panicked, alarming phone calls from Ms. Lougen requesting obscure tax information. Moreover, she painstakingly completed by FBAR submission but not before warning me I could face a $100,000 fine from the IRS for non compliance. Contrast this miserable, expensive, frustrating experience to this spring. A local agency completed my US return for $80 and I breezed through the FBAR submission myself. Americanexpat is overpriced, its competency is questionable and its "staff" shrill and alarmist.

Your comments struck me as unduly harsh and angry. As in every story there are 2 sides- and only yours has been presented. To all US persons with foreign assets and accounts reading this review- if your US tax preparer is not asking lots of questions about your situation and your assets outside the US- consider finding a new preparer. The reporting is cumbersome when your tax situation crosses a border- and the penalties can be extremely large. Running afoul of IRS international regulations willfully or non-willfully can cause you nothing but trouble.


Home Away? Stay away! My miserable experience with this business started the day following my booking. I was assessed a mysterious 'Pay per Booking' fee of about $40. When I phoned and asked about it upon my return a customer service agent agreed I should not have been assessed this fee. However, they did not refund it. Subsequent calls to the HomeAway customer service department were equally frustrating. They told me they were sorry I didn't find the experience satisfactory, but they were not prepared to do anything about it. The kicker came after I posted a poor review of the property we rented. The owners fired back in a hate filled, vitriolic diatribe filled with xenophobic comments, exaggeration, disclosure of personal information and untruths. Again I called and inquired about allowing this type of response to be posted. Had the response been vetted? A very polite, very articulate senior agent listened to my complaint and said there was nothing they were prepared to do about it. He did say he hoped to retain me as a customer. I said that was unlikely. I also said I would post a review like this one and recommend competitors like Airbnb and House Trip to friends and family.

Use Airbnb or House Trip.
