After writing the below review, getaroom made the proper corrections and expressed since apologies for mix up. Two thumbs up for them doing the right thing.
Booked a room at the Holiday Inn Express in Hiawasse, GA using the reservation number on their website. I did not know it went to Getaroom.com. Lady assured me the rate was the best possible rate and even the bereavement rate was no better. I was going for my brothers funeral. When I checked in the desk clerk gave me a better rate due to bereavement. As it turned out getaroom charged my credit card and added a $50.00 surcharge to the room rate which was not disclosed. I made a phone call to correct the amount and was told they will not make any adjustment. Getaroom is a misleading organization and the hotel should not redirect calls to them or either support the actions of the hotel staff. Bottom line is I am out $90.00 total between statement from hotel and what getaroom charged my card.
Beware of this company! Greatly misrepresented. I booked a 4 night stay using This pathetic company, OMG! 6 hrs after I booked, had to cancel. Called the customer care line... put on ignore for 30 min 3 separate times... funny... when I called I chose the make a reservation option... someone answers right away. So I ask the person the makes reservations why no one answers the cancellation number... she says she doesn't know why, they work across the hall from her and NONE were on the phone. Really, can't make this up! So I asked her to walk across to the hall and ask them to answer the damn phone. She did
Just that, Amazing. She transfers my call to customer care( misnomer), and after getting my confirmation number she says that they adhere to the hotel policy... and that there is no refund... I screamed BS, I had already called the Best Western and there policy specifically states that cancellations must be done prior to 24 hrs, which I was 36 hrs out.
The Get a Room representative continued to say that she could cancel but need my permission to be charged the 1200 hotel fee! WTF?
I asked her what planet she was from where this type of BS was acceptable. Then she says she has to call the Hotel to verify that that is the policy.
Unbelievable. After 45 min on phone we were "accidentally " disconnected... I call back, off coarse, and get a brand new idiot to start the whole process over with. I told that imbecile they were not going to get a penny of the 1200$, that I was going to report then to the BBB, then hung up.
2 min later I got a cancellation email from them.
I called hotel directly and saved 300$ over the 4 night stay. Lesson Learned.
Long story short. I tried to book hotel accommodation for two days. The site directed me to the GetARoom site where my hotel accommodation was booked. However, I was able to discuss the matter with GetARoom supervisor who was able to cancel the booking and process the refund in full. I sincerely appreciate their willingness to listen to my honest discussion with an action plan that satisfied both parties. I will not hesitate to utilize GetARoom again for better rates than the hotel could offer. Thank you!
I had the unfortunate misfortune of contacting GetARoom.com! The rate looked alright, but when it said to pay a non-refundable fee, they tacked on an extra $50 or more dollars in addition to the hotel fee. Honestly, I had NO idea. There was no warning until after I hit paid! It was only for 2 nights. It is greatly misrepresented! BEWARE! They tack their ridiculous fee in ADDITION to the hotel fees and taxes! If I had gone DIRECTLY to the hotel, I would have immediately SAVED over $50.00 for the two nights! NEVER again!
I just booked a quoted room of $90 did not giv be a complete scam and con group I would be very leery of using them don't know how they remain in business. Called the company said they could they could cancel the reservation but I would still be charged. Iwill reach out to my credit card company to dispute this charge. Beware of get a room. Com
I booked a room through GetARoom for the wrong date. When I needed to change the reservation to the correct date GetAroom was very helpful and resolved my problem. Booking.Com was not able to solve the same situation of a wrong date booked.
This site is a scam! Do not use it. We thought we were booking direct with Marriott and instead we book the Getaroom. There rates a might higher than most sights. The charge you and make you pay off the money upfront. When we need to cancel less than 48 hours later than would not refund any of our money and now we are at $1,000.
Most hotel booking services will always refund you money or allow you to cancel as long as it matches the hotel cancellation policy. Marriott allows you to cancel three days prior to your stay. When we book by trip was not until a month and half away. They took all of my money and refused to give me a refund! Huge SCAM! Do not book from this site! I travel a lot and this is my worst experience ever. Be careful when searching online and make sure you are booking with the right company.
I was happy to see that GetARoom responded to my complaints and refunded my money for my hotel reservation that i needed to cancel due to the snowstorm last weekend. They were responsive and took care of the problem quickly.
Made a weekend hotel reservation through Getaroom and ended up being hit with a $96 dollar tax and fees bill on top of the room rates. Then, since I stupidly had not read the fine print, I learned that I could not cancel the reservation per their policy - they had completely suckered me in. Stay away from Getaroom!

$40 service fee, non refundable, cancelled reservation same day as I booked (when I noticed the $40 fee, which Is unknown until you paid), 13 days prior to booked date, lost full amount. Do not use this site
DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE!
I had no problem choosing the hotel room. When I had put in all of my billing info and clicked "confirm" to complete payment, the site simply froze. I tried twice with no luck.
I had to call customer service and to the whole thing over again on the telephone with a representative.
This group provided us with a room they did not have to sell. After arriving at the hotel, they informed us that our room did not exist for our stay. Following this, GetARoom attempted to blame the hotel and did not accept responsibility and would not provide reimbursement or refunds. DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE.
Great experience making reservations for this trip. Looking forward to being in NYC for Thanksgiving
I tried to book a ski and stay package, and the customer care agent told me no problem, and then could confirm it after book the room. I received the email confirmation, no ski and stay package. So I called back, and it all goes downhill from there. After the 2nd agent understood I needed to cancel my reservation (because of the 1st agent error), she put me on hold until I hung up and called back (at least 20 min on hold). On the third call, I explained the same story to a 3rd agent, who put me on hold for another 20 min to call the hotel. After calling the hotel she told me I had to call the hotel again, and book the ski and stay package directly, then call getaroom back again to cancel the first reservation. After calling and booking directly with the hotel, I called getaroom back as instructed. Getaroom had to (wait for it...) again call the hotel again in which they proceed to put me on hold for another 20 minutes! At this point I thought for sure it was a scam. I booked with the hotel, and getaroom would never cancel my first reservation and leave me on infinite hold. I was wrong, and when the agent returned to me on the call, confirmed the reservation was canceled. The agent seemed to insinuate that I should be happy for the "one time" cancellation, because it was a one time favor. What a favor. Never, ever, again. Avoid at all costs.
It was easy and convenient to book through GetARoom. Most of my questions were answered by the individual with just a few questions that the answers seemed a bit fuzzy, but nothing crucial.
We booked a room for the sugar bowl and everything was great. We did not have any problems with any of the bookings and was able to enjoy our stay and had a great time
We paid for a room that said there was breakfast. We got to the hotel and asked them what time breakfast was at. They said there is no breakfast... but the restaurant in front gives 10% off of breakfast for hotel customers. It was a bummer. That's one of the things we always look for in a hotel... breakfast.
I was trying to contact a hotel in Florida and called (what I thought was the hotel). My call was somehow intercepted. My call was on speaker so my wife overheard the conversation. The woman on the phone was Indian so hard to understand. She was really pressuring me to get a room, when really I wasn't sure if I could afford the trip. Regretfully I booked a room; only because she told me (several) times that I could cancel the reservation anytime. She did tell me about a non refundable fee of $7.99 But that's all! Later that night I discovered a $586.53 charge on our bank card! I called the # and discovered it was some booking website and not the hotel like I thought. She told me there was no cancellation policy and that I could not get my money back! I tried getting my money back from the bank to no avail! I cannot believe a company would Steal people's money like this and still stay in business! Please don't make the same mistake I did! To late now; I see where others have experienced the same thing!
Booked a room via phone number as part of a wedding hotel block. The individual helping me could not understand or speak English well. Once we finally got it booked the bride sent out a link with the ability to book the hotel that way. I checked the rate with the link and it was OVER $100 CHEAPER. Therefore GetARoom didn't even book the room using the wedding block. Then when we called to cancel the room, the first employee hung up on me, then the second one informed GetARoom doesn't even apply wedding room block rates... yet the employee I spoke with when I booked the room stated that wedding room block rate was applied.
Do not use this company. I am not the only guest who had issues.
Answer: They are not ethical. For me, they used a website that appeared to be the actual hotel website, did not identify themselves when they should have, and did not mention booking fees while they charged a 30 percent booking fee for a room that was its normal price. They were supposed to cancel charges on my credit card and did not. STAY AWAY!
Answer: They are a site attached to Trip Advisor---- if you see them on screen while trying to book a room-- hit cancel. I'm out over $150 because of their fraudulent cancellation policy.
Answer: Thought I was booking on the actual hotel sight but was deceived in as much as it was Getaroom. Talked to someone else also staying at this hotel at the same for about a third less. Called them right back and had already charged my card and it would be up to 3 weeks to refund. That's about what it took but did get refund. Then checked reviews and no one had anything good to say about getaroom. Go straight to hotel sight of one you know and trust or stick with something like Travelocity.
Answer: I'm definitely in. There's something very deceptive, if not illegal, when you start off on a hotel's website and when you click Make a Reservation, it somehow transfers you to the GetARoom site without your knowledge. I had no idea this was done until I received their email confirmation. I'm thinking of contacting my state's Consumer Protection Div. Of the AG's Office to file a complaint when I get back from vacation.
Answer: Call 800-468-3578 but good luck. They are scammers
Answer: Wow. This is one bad company. Made a reservation and then needed to cancel. They gave cancel date all along. I called to cancel on that date and was told that date was only for 1 minute of date they told me. I was supposed to forfeit one night's cost. Luckily I made reservation on AMEX and they'll tell this fraud company to get lost. Moral of the story: make reservations through hotel.
