Every single time I used Expedia.com I had trouble with my booking thru Expedia. Maybe I have just not been lucky.

Beware of EXPEDIA! I am not a big complainer nor do I like to complain. But I feel people need to know this so it never happens again. We booked an all inclusive trip to Excellence Playa Mujeres through Expedia twice. Once for my friend and then for myself. We went into their site and clicked 2 guests two different times and a price came up which we felt was a good price so we proceeded to book for 5 nights. We decide to add a day to our trip because of the good price. When arriving to Playa Mujeres we were told that we booked for only 1 person per room and needed to pay for 1 extra person. I have never booked a room for only 1 person, so of course we were shocked and caught off guard. They proceeded to tell us that Expedia sent over a confirmation for only 1 person per room and we needed to pay an extra $1150 each in order to stay. This is after our initial payment in full we had made a few month before. We were also told by the front desk that this happens quite often especially to Koreans which was very odd. But nevertheless, we had to pay in order to stay and after flying 5 hours and probably lossing the money we already had paid for initially. We felt we had no other options but to pay up at this time. Even after all this, we were never told of an Expedia representative working in there lobby. At this point it was obvious to me they were working together and probably deceived many others. We then tried booking the same trip again just to see what might happen and the same special price came up we originally thought we were receiving for the 2 guests. We also decided to try just the 1 person booking and of course as expected a much cheaper rate came up. I believe Expedia made the mistake of sending the wrong confirmation with only 1 guest per room and did not rectify the problem. It might have cost me an extra $1150 more and it is definitely an expensive lesson to learn. But I will NEVER USE THE EXPEDIA SITE for anything again. I will also inform all my family and friends never to use the EXPEDIA SITE again, as well.
I stayed at a very shady motel this last weekend, it had a no refund policy. In the pictures the place looked clean, had a pool, breakfast, etc. this place even listed a sauna as an amenity. It had NONE of these things, the pictures were all fake! The amenities listed were lies. My work had booked this place thinking it was inexpensive and looked safe/nice. However, when I booked in there was no one manning the desk. The ‘maintenance guy', some crackhead grilling hotdogs over a coffee can in the parking lot checked me in. Never asked for an ID or my name. Most the rooms were open and the fire alarm in mine was hanging off the ceiling by it's wires. There was no channels on the television (maintenance guys said he didn't know and to just pull off the fire alarm). Anyways, it was NOT SAFE. I contacted Expedia, I explained I DID NOT want a refund, I wanted people to know this is not the place listed and it was unsafe. They said they'd make ‘notes'. I explained people's lives are in danger and if they would read the reviews they would see they should not be listing this motel. They stated they could not do anything, the pictures were provided by the motel and that the amenities the more listed might be changed after review of the notes...! Almost deliberately they gave me the runaround and disconnected me when I only wanted an accurate description of the motel to be given for the next family that decided it looked safe by the pictures. This place stayed they even had a SAUNA, oh my god, it barely had walls. Still, Expedia would not do anything. Download a different app, these guys are jokes that only care about their percentage, not their customer.
I have to travel for work
And booking travel with this sire is easy and I find their ratings really helpful
My husband and I always has this thing of travel alone, like a date and good thing to find a good staff here. Accurate and great service
They had issues with a flight that I had to book as an emergency and they cancelled it and all they offered was a 25$ gift card
We've used them numerous times for travel outside of the US. Never had a problem and never had to call them for anything.
Expedia is best for all events. Their customer service is great. Cancellation policy is well and rewards points excellent. I love their service
If you search and plan you can find some good deals here, but you should be willing to allocate some time and effort
My flight got cancelled and they couldn't get me a new flight because it had to be with the same airline, and there weren't any available. So I've been trying to get a refund and it's been an excruciating and humiliating experience. I've been living in Taiwan, and initially I tried to call their customer service during US hours because I feel bad for whoever has to be on call in the middle of the night. So I called at midnight here, and one customer service agent left me on hold for an hour at a time multiple times, and eventually left me on for so long that I fell asleep at around 2:30 am. After that I gave up on calling during US hours. I did get an email where they told me to expect an "update"--not a refund, but an update--in 7-10 days. Eighteen days later and I still had heard no updates so I called them again. Apparently the airline offered me a new flight... but it arrives in San Francisco several hours after my connection departs. No one at Expedia bothered to contact me about this. Then I was told they couldn't get me a refund and that I have to call the airline itself. Throughout this the customer service agent lost his temper at me several times. Doubtless it's an awful job, and it was probably an ungodly hour wherever he is, but I would prefer if he didn't take that out on me. Now I have tried to call the airline (EVA) multiple times, but most of the time the call is immediately dropped. Sometimes I get an automated message which says all lines are busy and asks me to call back later. Then the call is dropped. I haven't been able to get through to talk to anyone about my flight. At this point there is a good chance I will miss the wedding of two of my closest friends, in which I am supposed to be one of the bridesfolk. I can't afford a new ticket without the refund. I will never book a flight through Expedia again and I will tell anyone I meet to avoid them at all costs.
They give you several combinations of flights so you get a clear view of the possibilities
Of saving money.
Been using this site to book tickets to room.So far the experience has been good. Intent to keep using their service in the future
Expedia price on Ebates is ~10% higher that regular expedia site which is the discount offered by Ebates.
I booked a flight though expedia for a late flight, Expedia booked me for 6:00 AM, Expedia will not change the time at all. I'm not happy and WILL NOT use Expedia ever again.
I booked a flight and ordered flight protection. I've used Expedia a lot, but this is the first time I cancelled. The experience is causing me to move away from this site. The primary compliant is that the whole experience of cancelling has been a time-consuming nightmare. Close behind is that Expedient is not forthcoming with details of flight protection.
The small annoyances. Cancelling could not be done online. I don't know why. Maybe because it was an international flight.
The larger annoyances - rep could not explain what flight protection gave me. After calling, the rep was able to cancel the flight, but could not cancel my ground transportation. The flight refund was limited to the cost minus a $150 fee. I've used several flight services and typically this is what you get, without purchasing flight insurance. I'm not sure what I was paying for. Neither was the rep.
Continued annoyances - when I wanted to use the refund, I could not find the credit to my account on-line. I called customer service. Apparently, you have to call customer service to use the refund. That's news. The agent took me through several flights. She asked questions about what options I would prefer, and I kept saying the cheaper one. But, when I asked for the price, she could not give me one. She told me she just makes the flights - then she transfers me to the person who can book the flight. According to her, she has no access to the flights. Uhhh... all expedient does is provide a product for certain prices - why give someone half the access?
Because I was being transferred, I asked for the phone of the person that books the flight in case I was disconnected. She could not give it to me. I have to call the original number back and wait to be transferred. My transfer time was over 20 minutes, and I'm still waiting...
I'm leaving expedient. I don't feel they are an honest company.
Answer: You were lucky to get through to anyone at all at Expedia. I've spent hours and hours and hours over three days trying to get through to anyone on their customer service phone line, their chat line and their e-mail, all to no avail. They really owe their customers much better customer service.
Answer: Demand to speak to a Supervisor though you better have time because it will take anywhere between 30 minutes to 2 hours. Once the Supervisor does nothing or little to nothing to resolve your concern, ask to speak to a manager. Get ready to really wait. DO NOT ACCEPT THE "WE'LL HAVE A MANAGER CALL YOU WITHIN 24 to 48 HOURS" When you figure out you don't matter, sit down and right a review!
Expedia has a rating of 2.1 stars from 1,603 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with Expedia most frequently mention customer service, credit card and next day. Expedia ranks 203rd among Travel Search Engine sites.
