After being on the phone for over 6 hours and speaking to 7 different people, the $2,597.35 charge to my debit card is still "pending" and I just have to wait until they either charge the money so that my bank can issue a claim or for them to take the hold off. But for now I'm out almost 3K. The "manager" was the worst claiming that the bank placed the HOLD on my card. BEWARE DO NOT USE THIS SITE nor its affiliates, Travelocity, Kayak... alll the same co.
I booked flights to Maui on Expedia Itinerary # **************. I use Expedia because you have a 24 hour time to cancel or change your booking. The email I received from Expedia stated:
Expedia
Thank you! Your trip is booked.
Confirmation Details
Expedia itinerary number: **************
You'll receive a confirmation email shortly at (my email address).
You can cancel Opens in a new window. Your booking anytime in your online itinerary.
The next email I received had Alaska Airlines flights - the days were correct but the times of the flights were not. I immediately went back to Expedia and clicked on Cancel. Another screen had the message - this booking cannot be canceled. I talked with Chat and Jose said the booking could not be canceled. There was no confirmation screen before final payment, such as Amazon and all other retailers I have dealt with have. In a case like this there should even be a warning before you click on pay that this booking is the exception to the rule. I trusted Expedia and think this is very deceptive. I will not have this same trust in the future. When I went to the Alaska Airlines site I could not cancel the reservation and the customer service number had a ten hour wait. Not helpful.
Expedia.com makes travel very easy and about as cheap as it can be. Your one stop shop for low-cost air travel, hotels, rental cars, and tour packages!
I found this site really helpful, if you gonna travel abroad then this place is worth checking before you book your hotels, I recommend it to everyone.
This is the second and last time I deal with Expedia. Both times they "entered" the wrong date for my flight and I had to pay double to book then wait 14 days for a refund even though the cancellation was done immediately. So basically I had to pay $100 for a mistake on their end, pay more to book the correct flight, and had to wait on original refund. $966 for a $455 ticket. HORRIBLE STAY AWAY FROM THEM
First… hard to find CSR number. Second… customer service rep barely knew English. Third…it took me two hours to find out that two canceled flights netted me $92. I will never use Expedia again.
We understand with the onset of the Corona virus things are hectic. We have tried for 5 days to contact someone at Expedia to help us with our trip cancellation. We purchased the insurance because the trip we booked was to visit our son at his military base in Florida. With the virus, we are on stay at home orders, and his base is shut down for the unforeseen future. We have been on hold for as long as 2 hours each time we call, and then they just disconnect us. They promise to not put us on hold and before you know it, you are on hold again. We have spent numerous hours on hold to get NO WHERE... To top it off, no one will issue a refund for our trip. Expedia says via their website to cancel each portion of the trip with the hotel, airlines, etc... so we did. Now they say that we didnt have a trip because it was cancelled and cant find our itinerary number. Called the hotel directly and they wont help us either because we booked through Expedia. What a bunch of garbage, operators are rude and I DO NOT TRUST this travel agency. Lied to so many times in the last week its not even funny. Praying for a miracle refund... not holding my breath on it though. Bye Bye $2000. 00...
I had to cancel my flight for which they gave me airline credit.
In order for me to make a new reservation, i had to do it through a phone call which was inconvenient enough as I was outside of the US.
First rep put me on hold several times and I was on the call for nearly an hour when he abruptly said he needs to call me back, hung up on me and never called me back.
When I called them back, they admitted the first rep made some kind of a mistake. I also found out that they omitted critical info regarding restrictions on cancelled tickets, so now I'm about to lose about 900 dollars in useless credit.
I asked to speak with a supervisor, for which they ASSURED me that my call wouldn't get dropped and i would be able to connect to someone higher up. Now i'm holding for about 25 minutes. Expedia's business practice warrants a lawsuit and their customer service is non-existent and only serves to frustrate their customers. Never again will i do any kind of business with them and I'll be telling everyone i know to steer clear. What a piece of $#*! company.
I had the need to add a night to my original reservation... I called Expedia, I got "Jim" on the line who specifically told me that the room was not available. I called the hotel from my cell while "Jim" was on my landline, the hotel told me "Yes sir, the room is available, please add the night to your reservation with Expedia". I told that to "Jim" who again told me, "Well, shir, I not be sheeing room is abailable". I hung up with "Jim". I went to Expedia. Com, guess what, it showed the room is available! So I went to the chat box, I had then chatted with "Nitish". Now "Nitish" told me, quite clearly, there is a charge/penalty to change the reservation. Say what? End chat. I went to priceline.com, I booked the room. The same hotel, a day earlier for arrival, confirmed the room, same room... Expedia is like the wind, and the wind blows.
Do not ever stay at this hotel they got bed bugs and
Water bugs in the bathroom they're hallways stink
Terrible manager I've seen everything that goes on in this dump since I've been there I hope they tear it town,.
Now I know why they changed it from the ramada to the (gateway inn) the reviews were probably giving them no business at all they need to be reported to the health department they should not keep running that hotel

I have used Expedia multiple times and have not encountered any major problems. The site is easy to use, which makes traveling easier.
Con: If there are any problems with your travel arrangements (ex. Hotel), you are unable to get a direct refund from the hotel. On one occasion I had a problem with the hotel room that I was staying in and I spoke with a hotel manager about my concerns. He was very attentive and apologetic about the situation and said he would issue a refund for the night due to the inconvenience. Unfortunately, since I booked through Expedia and not directly through the hotel, he was unable to issue a refund. I appreciated his attempt and willingness to listen to me and not blow me off simply because I purchased the room at a lower rate on a discount site. Although I told the manager it was okay, he still wanted to do something for me so he upgraded the room, waived the resort fee, and issued a $50 voucher to be used at any of the hotel restaurants, bars, spa, etc. Although this manager was incredibly generous, most will NOT go out of their way to provide this type of customer service once they find out that you made your purchase on a discount site.
My husband and I are currently on hour two of standing at the passenger pick up in NYC waiting for our shuttle to pick us up. We booked a round shuttle trip through Expedia and have a confirmation code and a receipt of payment and are still currently waiting at the airport for our shuttle. After 3 different phone calls and waiting on hold for over an hour all they could do was say to call the shuttle company (super shuttle) and figure it out with them. After another 30 minute hold and short conversation they told us it would be another hour wait. All of this to say; save yourselves time and frustration and DO NOT BOOK SHUTTLE SERVICES THROUGH EXPEDIA OR SUPER SHUTTLE.
I could not be more disappointed in Expedia and their booking process, as well as their customer service department and their refund department. I have been a customer of Expedia for at least 10 years now. I have had my fair share of minor booking issues with them, however it never hit me in the pocket, and I overlooked Expedia's shortcomings, due to their convenience and reputation. NEVER AGAIN. I will never, ever use Expedia EVER AGAIN. Not only did the website completely screw up on a hotel reservation of mine, but after hours of utterly frustrating time spent on the phone with their very incompetent (oversees) staff, my issue and more importantly my REFUND was never resolved. Even after I was assured that I would receive a refund, it never came and was eventually denied. Their reasoning? They stated that I was never promised a refund! Even though they have recorded calls, they LIED to me and stated that the audio recording (of at least 60 mins) did not reflect a promise of refund. A flat-out, blatant lie. What kind of customer service is this? Not only will I never use this company again, I will make sure that everyone I encounter knows how terrible this company is and I will insist (and better yet, convince) that they never use this company again, either. Plus, I am going to post this review on every single format I can find. Take that!
We booked rooms through Expedia on our way to a cruise to Alaska. Booked hotel rooms for the night before cruise and night after. Saw on the internet the rooms would cost 87.00 which was an awesome price. When my husband informed the person from Expedia the price she said oh yes. Then proceeded to charge us 120.00 for same room. When we got to the hotel it would have been 87,00 if we would have booked with them direct. We were also told we could leave our car at the hotel while on cruise (thought they may have a compound or something) When we got there they said because of liability they would never have said we could keep the car there. It cost my son 212.00 to park at Canada Place for the week. When I wrote to complain, the person from Expedia said he would listen to the tapes to see what was actually said. When he got back to me (of course) he said that the person on the other end of the line (hotel) definitely said we could leave the car. So that was strike two on their part. I then told them we would never ever use their services again.
With our business, my husband and I travel sometimes more than once a month through out the year. We always deal directly with our hotel reward and frequent fliers reservations but... this recent trip... American Airlines (which we Thank So Much for fixing this mess) website happen to be down when we tried to book flight with few seats left at times we needed. So we made the ULTIMATE MISTAKE and booked with Expedia! Oh my gosh! I have never dealt with such unprofessional rude people and held on the phone for as long as 45 minutes... they hoped I'd hang up and give up! I didn't! In the Beginning... I bought flights online at times that worked for our trip and picked our seats... paid In Full Price and later... days later received email with different times and seats for a MUCH CHEAPER FLIGHT! They kept all our money and said we should be happy we have a guaranteed seat on the plane! We called American... they changed our flight back to what we needed for only a minimal fee, and Took Over our reservation so it no longer was EXPEDIA, Thank Goodness and American will see us throughout travels! Don't USE Expedia! Go straight to to the source!
My experience with them is totally horrible.
They reserve fake flights just to get the passenger trapped and they get the money and never respond to me. They put me on hold for ages. They finally try to limit your options to pay double of the tickets prices
DO NOT BOOK WITH EXPEDIA!
I booked a flight in 2021 for 2022. When I went to cancel, I was told by an agent that I would get a full refund due to COVID guidelines interfering with our trip. Agent A referred me to contact Etihad about a refund, so after 3 hours on call with Expedia, I called Etihad. After another long hold, Etihad told me to contact Expedia. I called Expedia again, Agent B told me that a refund was not possible, but I could get airline credit. I agreed, and asked them to write down explicitly the terms of the airline credit in the cancellation email, but they were hesitant to do so. Of course they were, because as soon as I tried to redeem the airline credit, they changed the terms of the credit by telling me that the airline policy had changed and that the original terms were no longer valid. How do you trust a company whose own agents contradict themselves, even when you have written proof!?!?! Don't waste your time or money, book directly with the airlines and avoid booking anything more expensive than a pencil with them! Not worth the time and energy.
Expedia is horrible! People, DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT BUY TICKETS or TRAVEL INSURANCE with this company! Buyer beware!
I have been in hold for hours to change my flight, so far its been days and nobody can help me, I called the airline and they have flights available on the day I selected but they can't help me because I bought my stupid tickets thru fricking EXPEDIA so they need to make the change, I call, put on hold for hours, get transfer and then they hung up on me, then I request someone to call me, I get a call only for the agent to transfer me to no one and the whole process starts again, no response to emails, it's a nightmare, so frustrating and they of course are holding my money hostage because they won't refund me the money, just a credit... my travel day is till July, I'm so so sorry I used EXPEDIA but NEVER EVER AGAIN... I hate them...
This $#*!ers are $#*!. Asked for a god damn refund. Said that the hotel does not approve. Purchased this so cancellation protection $#*!, and i was told to give the insurance a call to file a god damn claim. The hell! Stupid insurance $#*!. IF YOU GUYS ARE SELLING OUT TRAVEL INSURANCE THAN MAKE SURE YOU $#*!ERS TAKE OF OF THIS $#*!. STUPID COMPANY.
Expedia labels a San Marcos hotel as New Braunfels… would not give us money back or transfer to the New Braunfels locations! Worst company I've ever used! Will not be using again!
Answer: You were lucky to get through to anyone at all at Expedia. I've spent hours and hours and hours over three days trying to get through to anyone on their customer service phone line, their chat line and their e-mail, all to no avail. They really owe their customers much better customer service.
Answer: Demand to speak to a Supervisor though you better have time because it will take anywhere between 30 minutes to 2 hours. Once the Supervisor does nothing or little to nothing to resolve your concern, ask to speak to a manager. Get ready to really wait. DO NOT ACCEPT THE "WE'LL HAVE A MANAGER CALL YOU WITHIN 24 to 48 HOURS" When you figure out you don't matter, sit down and right a review!
Expedia has a rating of 2.8 stars from 1,604 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with Expedia most frequently mention customer service, credit card and next day. Expedia ranks 15th among Travel Search Engine sites.
