I made a flight booking with ExpediaAnd they charged me extra on top of the money I paid for the flight
For them to make the booking it is a rip-off they don't tell you it is going to cost you more when you are making the booking can anybody tell me if this is common practice with this company
4 calls, no call back although promised. Problem not resolved I any way presume call centre in India with no ability to make a decision and no interest. Worst customer service I have eerexperienced
Great place to comparative shop for anything to do with traveling. From Airline tickets to hotels and rental cars. Great deals can be found on Expedia.
Cancelled our international outgoing flight. Kept our returning flight. Did not contact us. We only found out when we tried to check in. Told us the airline had control of our tickets and would give us a refund. As we knew was false information. The airline confirmed that Expedia would need to make any corrections/refunds etc. I spoke to three different Expedia reps. The second was Ruth and after 15 minutes, she said that she was calling the airline to find out what was going on. After 5 minutes, Jose appeared and said he needed my confirmation number. So, we went through the whole 15 minutes again. Of course, I asked where's Ruth? Jose was of no help. I had the airline on the phone on another line repeating everything that Jose was stating which they said was incorrect. They said they could see in the system that we had a time change to our flight and Expedia was supposed to confirm this with us in 30 days or the flight would cancel. Jose would never admit to being able to see any of this in the system. After an hour of frustration on my part and American Airlines, my ticket was elevated and the AA supervisor authorized my tickets to be booked directly through American Airlines and waived all fees because their experience with trying to resolve this with Expedia was also ridiculous and poor customer service. There was a lack of any empathy for having several thousand dollars spent on hotels, transfers, pet sitters, etc. It didn't seem to bother them in the least. Expedia's only response was we are on the phone with American Airlines and they want to know if you want to cancel and refund (no offer of comparable flight options). Remember, I'm on the phone with American Airlines. They told me to hang up with Expedia and within minutes sent me confirmations of new flights. We had to leave a day later but they didn't charge us any additional fees which they were well within their rights to do! I am a traveler and have completed 50+ trips in 10 years. At least half were international. I WILL NEVER USE EXPEDIA AGAIN! And apparently, this has become the norm for them. Shame on you Expedia!
I was unable to change my hotel reservation from two days to one on the website. I was forced to cancel and re-book at a 50% higher rate. Very aggravating.
I can always trust Expedia to provide the best pricing for any travel I do. I recently booked an all inclusive to Mexico and the whole process was very easy.
Expedia's Best Price Guarantee is a SCAM! I found a lower fare flight just 3 hours after I booked via Expedia.com. So I immediately sent an email with the requested proof asking them to honor their "Best Price Guarantee" (refund the difference and give a $50.00 voucher). I received an email stating that my proof wasn't sufficient, so (the same day) I sent more solid sources of proof (Jpeg, PDF) showing that it was the EXACT same flight! Over 3 weeks have passed, I have sent numerous emails with the correct information and proof that expedia requested, I have called customer service a few times and they just keeps telling me to email *******@expedia.com (which I have repeatedly) and I don't even receive a reply.
I am leaving poor reviews on all of the travel and review sites to let others know that Expedia's "Best Price Guarantee" is a scam and that Expedia does NOT honor what they advertise which is very unethical!
Expedia's Best Price Guarantee Flights - Case ID: [REQ: M-*******]
Booked an international trip through Expedia; faced a cancellation and had to rebook, incurring over $1,000 in extra charges. The booking agent made a spelling mistake in a middle name which led to us contacting their "customer service" which then proposed $400 correction fee.
When we asked why and what are the fees for the agent got defensive and started raising his voice. He also refused to transfer the line to someone else and refused to help. The agent's refusal to help or escalate the matter added to our frustration, highlighting a need for better training and policies.
When Expedia insisted on the $400 fee for their own error, we contacted the airline directly. They fixed the mistake promptly at no extra cost, raising the question: Why the unnecessary charges, Expedia?
I will never use Expedia.com for any of my future bookings and I will make that everyone I know does the same.
Consider booking directly with airlines. It can be more straightforward, potentially cheaper, and avoids third-party miscommunications and fees.
Ill speak to several agents and theyll all tell me the previous one was lying. They beat around the bush. Agent MOHAMED lied and was so rude. Credits that were on my account for 1.5+ years no issues MAGICALLY disappeared when chatting with him. He replied AND I QUOTE "just ignore it", "there is no point in this" "im not arguing about this". I have alllll the transcripts from our chat. He wouldnt connect me to a supervisor so i called expedias number and low and behold, HE WAS LYING. Never ever ever ever use expedia.
Flight Billing and Refunds - Itin: ************** - Case ID: [REQ: S-*******]
My flight from Caracas to Miami 10/31/17 was cancelled by Santa Barbara Airlines. I have called multiple times to Expedia and there is no answer to my case. They just say they need to wait to Santa Barbara answer over and over again. I did not make my reservation using Santa Barbara. I did it with Expedia and is almost a month with out an answer. Where should I call to solve this problem
Cancelled our flights 2 times and the expedia personell is not giving us a proper explantion. Won't fly with them anymore. Telling anyone I know to steer away from expedia.
There is was a HURRICANE in Florida and Atlanta, thus the event that I was attending is cancelled... so I asked to readjust my flight plans and they tell me I CAN'T, it has to be extenuating circumstances for the insurance, I paid for, to refund my money... SO A F***ING HURRICANE IS NOT EXTENUATING?! This is my LAST run with Expedia!
Unfortunate that I have to give it 1 star, because it doesn't even deserve that. I'm sure, I am not alone here, with COVID-19 putting us all working folks in a sticky situation, financially, about our travels. Expedia, is NOT there to help. In fact, the advertise apartments to rent, and they have no control or say over them. What makes this worse, is that the host is completely unresponsive.
My complaint to the BBB, is basically what my review will be too.
"With COVID-19 being a global issue, we are left unable to travel to France- as restrictions have been put in place. Expedia has listed an apartment for rent, and has had no control over this listing. I have attempted, as well as Expedia, to reach the owner of the apartment and we get no response. The owner is refusing to refund even though there is a travel ban from U. S to EU- this is unwell for the safety of myself and our community. Airbnb as well as other booking sites are offering FULL refunds because safety is more important. Expedia has listed something they don't manage, and instead have slapped their name on it, so that consumers like myself, who has trusted them in the past will book with no hesitation. This makes me so uneasy that Expedia would run their business like this."
Booked a first class flight ticket with Expedia at a price of over $1500! When an economy priced ticket was around a $500. The flight to and from had a connection and was actually four flights to the destination and back home. When I got to the airport I found out Expedia booked only two of the four flights as First class when I paid for the entire trip to be first class. When you can Expedia you are going to be rerouted to India or somewhere across the globe to a rep that can not help you and just waste you time! You can NOT take the issue with the airlines because you purchased the ticket from Expedia so you can not resolve anything and stuck with the mistake Expedia made. I ended up flying economy only later getting an e mail from Expedia admitting to their mistake and only offering a $400 refund on a $1500 ticket price! Do yourself a big favor and never book with Expedia as you have no real solution in real time. You are better off booking directly with the airlines or hotels as they can solve a issue if there is any. Use Expedia to search for your best route but book direct with the Airline or Hotel. You will save yourself a lot of trouble. Also any changes you need to make to your reservation you will be rerouted to India or somewhere across the globe to try and make when you can easily do it when booking direct with Airlines or Hotels. Booking with Expedia is asking for trouble. Stay away!
I simply don't have a word. Costumers service is worst, airfares are worst, completely fake, insurance doesn't give you any refund, they don't understand their own language even if you spell them your name and last name.
They are not prepared as a travel agent and if you ask them if they know the regulation of DOT, they tell you that they, of course, known what DOB is!
PS. DOT is a US Department of transportation, DOB is the date of Birth! LOL
I use Expedia for many of my trips when I travel, especially hotels, and have good experiences. BUT BUYER BEWARD WHEN BOOKING FLIGHTS, SPECIFICALLY TO EUROPE/SPAIN. I thought I was booking a non-stop flight from LA to Spain on Iberia Airlines. The Iberia logo was next to the flight information, Iberian Airlines, Operated by Iberia for Level." After receiving an email (that didn't have Level, the low budget poorly reviewed airline's name in the subject line) about paying for extra items like luggage, seat selection and food and drink, I opened the email and it was "Level Airlines with their blue and green logo." NO WHERE WAS THE LEVEL LOGO NEXT TO THE FLIGHT SELECTION. This is misleading and false advertising! I tried to call to cancel, no one answers the phone at Level and their website doesn't open. Very poor customer service. Expedia told me I had to cancel with Level and couldn't get through. Why not have the Level Logo next to the flight number and details?
Placed a reservation with Hertz through Expedia for a 3 week rental in Europe. Ended up with getting stuck with the largest SUV they have, even though I requested the Mercedes C class or something smaller. Could not park in any duplex lots forcing me to contend with street parking. So much time and money wasted chasing limited parking and gathering coinage! Then when I turned in the vehicle, my receipt showed they charged me over 10% more than when I originally reserved it. After 2 hours on the phone with Kimberley and her supervisor Vu@ Expedia, they told me they left it with Hertz and they would contact me within 72 hrs. Hertz promptly sent me an email stating I would have an answer within 4 business days. Less than 8 hrs later, they sent me a form email that my request was denied?! So, in order to fill their cars, they allow Expedia (and others, I'm sure) to display incorrect rates to lure people in. Should have known Hertz would never actually be competitive with Sixt. Be smart, go direct to anyplace other than Expedia.
Classic Bait and Switch. I thought this was illegal. How does Expedia get away with it?
My family and I are spending a week in Myrtle Beach this August. Wouldnt you know, it seems to be the most popular week of the summer. Ive been tracking airline fares for months to save the long 14 hour drive, but the fares are just cost prohibitive for a family of 4. I received an email from Expedia today saying they are offering 40% off for members. I clicked and found the best airfares and flights Ive seen and immediately went to book, along with an over-priced car rental. Filled in the credit card information and then Expedia notified me Oops. Our prices change quickly. Your price has been adjusted... And yes, the total was then $800+ more than the plans I had originally found and had clicked the Book button for. Fortunately I was paying attention and quickly cancelled the transaction.
OK I thought maybe it took me too long to research all the details and the price increased. So I started the transaction again, found the same flights at the same fair rates, along with the over-priced car rental and BING Oops. Our prices change quickly... Again $800+ was added to the total. Not my delay at all, just deceptive pricing and advertising.
Shocked that a large commercial travel site so flagrantly practices this bait and switch. GOODBYE Expedia. There are so many honest options. Dont patronize this business!
My flight was cancelled and have spent over 20 hours otp and chat and expedia still haven't booked a flight for me. I even purchased the insurance from them
They claim to be cheap, but they are quite expensive compared to many of the other travel sites. Plus the ONE time i used them I ended up beside the furnace room and it was noisy all the time.
Answer: You were lucky to get through to anyone at all at Expedia. I've spent hours and hours and hours over three days trying to get through to anyone on their customer service phone line, their chat line and their e-mail, all to no avail. They really owe their customers much better customer service.
Answer: Demand to speak to a Supervisor though you better have time because it will take anywhere between 30 minutes to 2 hours. Once the Supervisor does nothing or little to nothing to resolve your concern, ask to speak to a manager. Get ready to really wait. DO NOT ACCEPT THE "WE'LL HAVE A MANAGER CALL YOU WITHIN 24 to 48 HOURS" When you figure out you don't matter, sit down and right a review!
Expedia has a rating of 2.8 stars from 1,604 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with Expedia most frequently mention customer service, credit card and next day. Expedia ranks 15th among Travel Search Engine sites.
