I wanted to extend my rental through Hotwire without returning to the rental agency, was unable. Subsequently had to book another rental, accidentally booked with the wrong company and immediately contacted Hotwire to resolve. Hotwire charged me for 2 rentals, refused to contact the rental agency to request a refund, as the rental agency advised. Expedia Group does not value customers, only money. I attempted to dispute with my bank, Hotwire still disputed. They lost a loyal customer and will hopefully lose many more. We should stop spending money with companies that don't respect our business or money. Booking my spring trip through Agoda, the experience and service has been amazing so far.
Expedia has been giving me the run around for 2 months because of an error made on my reservation. They blame United and after missing 1 day and night of vacation, re booking for a lesser accommodations they refunded me 72.06 —-what a joke!
This is a company who refuses to help those who contract with them for travel. They consistently pass the blame and after all of this I am now charging back the entire trip on my credit card and will have to pursue legal avenues because they refuse to honor the reservation I made. I also had purchased travel insurance but apparently human error is not covered so that also is something to avoid.
Extremely bad experience! It was a nightmare! Received email with ticket # and itinerary number, mentioning that my flight date has been changed. Came to airport. No booking found on both old and new date. Returning from the airport now!
I cant believe a company like expedia can do so! Expedia's service has gone to the worst! I am still at the airport for last so many hours. Each time calling them, it is taking hours to get their service agent online. The service agent promises to call back if the line gets disconnected. The line got disconnected several times but they never call back again.
Finally got an agent with Agent #A13, he kept me on hold and I am still on hold for more than half an hour.
My advise to all customers is avoid expedia if you dont want to face a nightmare! As per my experience, the expedia is no more as it was before.
Not knowing Expedia booked our hotel, over charged us by $275.00, plus a $15.00 service fee. Booking the hotel with this Jordan guy, he gave me the total of 1,368.00 and the hotel deposit of $250, that was $275.00, and I would get that back when checking out. We arrived at the hotel and charged another $250.00 deposit, which was explained at the front desk of the hotel, contacted the discrepancy number, and informed by this Edgu agent, the $446.18 was the taxes, the agent was very rude and kept on saying they don't have anything to do with the hotel fees, I tried explaining what I was informed, doesn't make any sense taxes would be that high, he didn't want to hear anything, kept on dismissing the conversation, until I gave up and ended the call. My fault for not checking that I was booking directly with the hotel. Expedia you scammed me and I hope it was worth it.
Try getting in touch with them if you have a problem there corporate number disconnects you instantly. The customer service number has an AI assistant that will send you through several menu options then when you want to speak to a human will say they can find your travel plans through your phone number and start spouting out reservations you never made when you do not respond with one of them they disconnect you. With expedia its all about avoiding the customer at all costs. I can imagine the horror stories people have dealing with them. I will never book anything on there site again as long as I live they gave me like $3.00 in credits they can have it! Use them to search out hotels in the area then call them directly you will find you can negotiate a much better rate directly with the Hotel or airline. Use a real travel agent in your local area to book your travel make sure they answer there phone and other trusted friends have had a good experience do not use these Bozo's.
If you book through Expedia, do not expect them to help you with cancellations even though you may have bought their travel guard insurance. Worthless! Also shop around a little more before using Expedia. They say they are the cheapest around but I found cheaper of course AFTER I booked with them. Not happy with them nor their service. They won't back up their customers PERIOD. They give you one excuse after another. Put you on hold while they play with their phones or whatever to pretend they are doing something. Worthless!
I booked a roundtrip airfare in 2022 from Philippines to the US. The airlines were EVA Air and Alaska Air. After 20 days, I was notified that EVA Air cancelled the flight. Expedia said the travel insurance was only refundable if flight cancelled first 15 days. SO no refund. I was told the credit card would be refunded for the flight. After 10 days I called go ask why no refund. Expedia then lied and said it was not refundable. By law, any trip that any segment touches the US or Europe has to be refunded to the same purchase credit card. I refused to accept some crummy Expedia voucher only I could use and would have to use within 11 months. Refunds are not negotiable. File a complaint with the Depart of Transportation and you will get your money back. I finally got my refund from EVA Airlines. I never got the $105 for travel insurance refunded. I will never use Expedia again. Note that TripAdvisor is a sister company.
Reservation through Expedia wasn't found by Thrifty when our flight was delayed, so we had to take an Uber to our location, cost $40, and an extra hour waiting. Reserved another car through Expedia that cost $60 more to rent for one less day and received an email from AVIS stating they were charging us $50 for not picking up the rental. Terrible communication by Expedia to their partners. It takes a lot of digging to find how to register a complaint with Expedia and the agent gave a hollow apology, without any offer to assist, only excuses. They also continually stated they "understand", which must be part of their training. When a customer has a complaint always say you understand regardless of whether you have the slightest inclination to what they are stating.
I contacted Expedia (didn't know about the merge/change to One Key) a month ago regarding my points on my account... It's difficult to get a live person when contacting them, the wait time can be as long as 15 minutes plus... I finally got a rep on the phone named Rosa who informed me of my point balance ($185.62) and the amount of time I had to use my points (18 moths)... I checked my account after speaking with Rosa, and my points appeared on my account. A few weeks ago my points were still on my account... I was trying to book a hotel through Expedia a few days ago and my points were missing. I checked the app and my points were missing, but I could see where my points were converted last July... Apparently Rosa was totally incorrect, and my points expired. I contacted Expedia via chat and explained the situation to the rep Saswata. Saswata stated there were no points, and after going back and forth Saswata disconnected the chat without notice... The next day I contacted Expedia via phone a couple of times and was supposed to receive a callback within 15 minutes... I finally received a call from a live person an hour later... The rep Calvita stated she could see my points and wasn't understanding what occurred... She could also see the same information I saw on the app... Calvita explained the points expire after 18 months, and she needed to get a specialized team to contact me via email... I asked for a direct number/email to that team, but she stated there wasn't one... Like 20 minutes later I received an email from 3 different people like they copied and pasted their messages to me... No one was able to help, they continuously stated my points expired in June, and points expire in 12 months… My $185.62 in points were gone, and they weren't willing to do any type of compensation; although, I was misinformed on 3 different occasions... Everyone should be on one accord when informing customers of information... I wouldn't have had a problem if the information given to me from the previous 3 reps was the same information given to me from the specialized team...
I've used Expedia many times and have been so pleased. They have provided excellent service up until my last trip. I booked a four day trip through Expedia. Upon arrival it was clear the room was not as advertised on Expedia website. The rooms were older than shown and the room itself was dirty. I contacted Expedia the next day and asked to check out and be refunded remaining amount for the stay. At this point Expedia and the hotel began playing hot potato, each one blaming the other and both stating they "would like to provide a refund" but it was up to the other party. If you book with Expedia, do not expect the rooms to be what was advertised. Also know that if you are not satisfied with your accommodations you will not be given even a partial refund. I will never use Expedia again because they do not stand behind their services.
DO NOT USE EXPEDIA - it's a total scam! I was promised an airline credit, still waiting for somebody to get back to me about it. Have had to contact Expedia 4/5 times (via stupid chat portal, no you can't call them) and each time I'm told they are investigating. I know realize the agents will lie and tell you anything just to get you off the chat. Save yourself a lot of time and just book with the airline/ hotel directly. Expedia is just a scam with lying agents working for them. I don't know who is reviewing on their own website - cannot be real customers, just look at their Facebook page and reviews to see how many thousands of people have had similar issues/experiences
Poor customer service and very difficult for cancellations refunds. Once you buy you're locked in. I'm not sure why companies like this continue to exist in today's online world where you can really just book everything directly yourself.
Unable to change seats... expedia phone help useless and co$t me so many cell minutes from US... wrong terminal at LAX, fortunately Russian limo driver knew better than expedia... would have missed flight.
Tried to change flights to different dates. Took 9 calls and 6 hours for something that should have been 5 minutes, as they were cajoling, upping the price, contradicting themselves, and finding excuses why I couldn't book most of the flights the Expedia site itself was showing me. Ended up having to pay $600! More. Example case of overall incompetence. Will not touch their site with a 10-foot pole again. Avoid like fire.
I've been using Expedia for well over 10 years now. I've used other sites in similar niches but not with the same frequency. Expedia seems to have more consistent deals and their site is actually user friendly.
I am from India so my rating may not be accurate but I tried to book/search for international travel tickets many times and never got a deal which was good. Local sites like cleartrip and makemytrip had way better deals.
Useless, would give them a zero rating if I could. They will put you on 1 hour hold when calling to cancel your flight within 24 hours so your free cancellation window is gone. Never using them again.
I recently went to Kansas City, and really appreciated the bundle of services that came under one trip itinerary, and accumulating Expedia points, together with my hotel and airline miles programs. One stop shopping at a guaranteed price is great!
When I studied abroad I used this site to book a few flight/hotel combos. Everything went off perfect.
Expedia works well and is pretty legit, but if you look around and are flexible, you can probably find better rates.
Lots of info. Booked with them and my experience was positive. It turned out that we had to cancel our trip and we were happy that they gave me a quick refund! All good. Only thing is I don't think prices are best on this site. My advice is contact hotels directly for pricing. Nine times out of Ten you will get a better price!
Answer: You were lucky to get through to anyone at all at Expedia. I've spent hours and hours and hours over three days trying to get through to anyone on their customer service phone line, their chat line and their e-mail, all to no avail. They really owe their customers much better customer service.
Answer: Demand to speak to a Supervisor though you better have time because it will take anywhere between 30 minutes to 2 hours. Once the Supervisor does nothing or little to nothing to resolve your concern, ask to speak to a manager. Get ready to really wait. DO NOT ACCEPT THE "WE'LL HAVE A MANAGER CALL YOU WITHIN 24 to 48 HOURS" When you figure out you don't matter, sit down and right a review!
Expedia has a rating of 2.1 stars from 1,603 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with Expedia most frequently mention customer service, credit card and next day. Expedia ranks 203rd among Travel Search Engine sites.
