Awful post-service It is difficult to find their phone numbers, and their website does not have an email address. After calling once, I was told to contact a different number, but it didn't work.
Took a trip to vegas and 1 person was not able to attend... Got to vegas and Expedia canceled returning flight without refund due to no show. So now the people that went had to scramble to find a flight home. Worst experience with a booking company.
They kept pre-paid hotel monies after a job cancelled and I had cancel a reservation. They blamed Hilton. Because I'm friendly with the manager of the specific Hilton I had booked I was able to discover that Hilton, in fact, does not keep monies from cancellations, that it's Expedia. Expedia lied, blaming Hilton, and I'm out $500. They are scandalous. Customer support is almost non-existent, almost impossible to get a phone # for and their browser-bot is useless at problem solving. FTC needs to investigate their unethical practices.
On July 28,2021. I booked a room for 3 people Through Expedia for Aug. 6-8. At Ramada by Wyndham in Asheville NC. After checking in I went to the room. My wife entered the bathroom and then told me that she saw hair on the shower wall. I checked and there was long black hair on the shower wall. I took a picture with my phone. I then saw a coffee pot on the bathroom counter top in the bathroom across from the toilet. That's just plain unsanitary. The bathroom obviously had not been cleaned. I checked out and ask for a full refund and was told by the manager that I would have to call Expedia for the refund. I'm still trying to get a live person at Expedia to answer my phone call. I will never go back to Ramada by Wyndham in Asheville NC or book another room through Expedia.
Price, Price, Price.
Actually I have had no issues with Expedia until my last trip. What I found out. I stayed in Meadow Lake resort hotel in Columbia Falls city MT, from 07/12-07/15. Expedia charged me almost $1050 fot three nights. But the hotel receipt I got, showed the price $810. The Expedia representative told me that different in the price was their commission. $240 for three nights!. I decided not to use any third parties in the future. Just opened membership in most reliable hotels.
Booked a hotel through Expedia. Confirmation email explicitly stated I could cancel without penalty if done by 11:59 pm the day before arrival. I ended up cancelling within the prescribed time frame and received confirmation from Expedia for the cancellation showing no penalty or charge. Hotel charged me $830 anyway, and is refusing to refund. Expedia appears to have misrepresented the hotel's cancellation policy. I should have booked directly with the hotel.
Can find some cracking flight deals on Expedia. Especially if you are prepared to fly from a european hub. Recently booked long haul business class (bad back means no economy this time) with malaysia airlines through expedia, saved approx £700 by flying from Amsterdam rather than manchester (uk taxes very high for long haul). Even with cost of seperate flight to Ams taken into account.
However still awaiting reply from customer services to an enquiry form I submitted approx 4 weeks ago!..
Beyond the fact Expedia offers travel at great prices, they also act as a sort of concierge by giving suggestions on activities at your destination and allowing you to schedule on their site. Love them.
I like this site, gives me an easy way to find my flights and hotels. Generally, what's listed is fair. Most of what's listed is generally correct. Just be careful about folks in hotel travel desks that push the same packages at much higher prices than what you booked online.
During flight only search, with other dates showing in other tabs, you see a better price on the other tabs, but when you click on that, the price is actually higher. I wasted at least 0.5 minutes on this nonsense before deciding to try elsewhere. A shame, because previously I've thought they were OK, and have booked flights through them. I was hoping to use my about $1 reward, but my experience with the flight search has put me off.
I reserved a hotel through Expedia. However, I needed to make an alteration to my reservation, and I arrived 2 days later. They were advised 1 day before my first arrival date that I could not come. The hotel charged their no-show fee and also charged the 2 nights that I did not stay. It was overcharged following the hotel policy's rules and Expedia did not help at all. I won't trust Expedia for a reservation in the future.
I bought a flight ticket and hotel reservation on Expedia.ca, where the displayed price for my flight was $740 with Air Transat. However, I was charged an additional $542 without any justification. Furthermore, the hotel I booked was supposed to offer the best price, equivalent to a free night's stay. Once paid, I realized this was false. I found out that I would have paid less if I had booked directly with the airline and the hotel.
I only realized the actual price of the flight ticket after it was charged to my credit card because it was separated from the hotel cost. This made me understand that I had paid much more than what was initially shown. The invoice provided by Expedia was poorly detailed, making it impossible to know exactly how much the flight ticket and the hotel cost separately. Yes, there is an invoice, but it is so poorly explained and detailed that it's just meant to mislead you. I wasn't able to know the exact cost of the flight ticket and the hotel separately until after I paid, and by then it was too late.
After contacting Expedia's customer service, they told me that they are not in control of the prices and cannot refund me. They offered a $25 coupon, which is completely ridiculous and I refused. Expedia's customer service was utterly useless and refused to acknowledge the error or refund me.
I strongly advise against using this site for any reservations. Very disappointed!
I encountered an infuriating debacle during my transit in Paris, where I was abruptly halted and informed that my ticket routing through Belgium was null due to visa requirements. Despite my desperate plea for assistance, Expedia proved utterly incompetent in procuring a new ticket, leaving me stranded and helpless. Subsequently, I was left with no choice but to pay out of pocket for a replacement ticket, further exacerbating my financial burden. Even more appalling was Expedia's callous disregard for customer satisfaction, as they callously refused to provide any form of reimbursement or compensation for the unused portion of my original ticket. This egregious display of negligence and indifference has left me seething with frustration and resentment towards their abysmal service.
I am utterly appalled by the horrendous customer service I received from Expedia today. I wasted an entire Sunday trying to communicate with their team via Twitter, only to be met with what can only be described as sheer incompetence. It was, without a doubt, the worst customer service I have ever experienced from any company. Despite repeated attempts over five hours to connect with a human via phone calls and their entirely ineffectual website chat, my efforts were in vain. Furthermore, when I explicitly requested information on how to lodge a formal complaint via Twitter and Facebook, they flatly refused. After years of being a loyal customer, it's clear that Expedia's standards have plummeted dramatically. I can categorically say this will be my last encounter with them.
They are in the process of letting a member of theirs steal from me. They have been alerted to a fraudulent transaction which is pending in my account and they refuse to discuss it with me. Put me through to a voice mail. I do not have a HW account, I have never used HW, but they a billing my credit card because someone else used it fraudulently. They are aware of this and are unwilling to stop the transaction because I cannot verify the info in the account., Well of course I cant, I didnt create it. Account has my name and CC number but some other persons email, phone, zip etc. Because I can not verify that info they wont discuss, But I can read the Card number and my name and that is correct. Clearly fraud but they want nothing to do with it. Stear clear of this company. They do not care once the money is flowing. They have no easy avenue to correct issue with your account.
Unfortunately you find out the integrity and values of a company when something goes wrong.
My experience of Expedia is that they're incapable of accepting their mistakes and do little to rectify them.
I have spoken to customer services 3 times each time escalating to a supposedly higher level of service.
They just don't listen, won't accept that their app/operating platform changes reservations without informing you and then they don't offer any solution other than cancellation at a cost.
The most infuriating part was I was promised that my booking would be honoured and they'd make the necessary changes by a senior operator, I asked for email confirmation so I had proof and was promised this, only to then receive an email saying my case had been reviewed at the highest level and closed.
Really difficult company to access and deal with when things go wrong.
All started with our flight being delayed in Newark. My daughter (who didn't know Spirit reputation) purchased connected flights. Upon our arrival, the second airplane took off without us. After waiting on a line for two hrs, we were told by a Spirit's agent, that we needed to wait until the second day to catch the next flight to Cancun. Then we get to the hotel; unpleasant food, customer service needs improvement…
Waited over 10 hours on hold today, never got to speak with an agent. Tried to use their website to make the change needed only to get a "sorry, we're having a problem on our end" error. Don't even get me started on their full of crap "trip insurance." Avoid this company. Not worth whatever small savings you may get booking through them.
Their website would not confirm any bookings and asked to try again. After trying without success a few times, I was notified a bit later that all duplicate reservations went through. They were unwilling to waive the $100 cancellation fee for each duplicate reservation. $400 in fees for their website errors... that hurts so much
Did not refund when company could not even get us the car. They left us and about 10 other people waiting at the airport for over an hour and the shuttle never came. We even arrived 15 min before pickup time just to be safe. A bunch of us called multiple times and no one answered or called back. We ended up having to pay $65 to Uber to our Airbnb, so did the others. I called in the morning and they said we can get a refund through Expedia, but Expedia said Routes rejected the refund request. I will follow up again and update if anything changes.
Answer: You were lucky to get through to anyone at all at Expedia. I've spent hours and hours and hours over three days trying to get through to anyone on their customer service phone line, their chat line and their e-mail, all to no avail. They really owe their customers much better customer service.
Answer: Demand to speak to a Supervisor though you better have time because it will take anywhere between 30 minutes to 2 hours. Once the Supervisor does nothing or little to nothing to resolve your concern, ask to speak to a manager. Get ready to really wait. DO NOT ACCEPT THE "WE'LL HAVE A MANAGER CALL YOU WITHIN 24 to 48 HOURS" When you figure out you don't matter, sit down and right a review!
Expedia has a rating of 2.1 stars from 1,603 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with Expedia most frequently mention customer service, credit card and next day. Expedia ranks 203rd among Travel Search Engine sites.
