Firstly Expedia Changed my flight without notification, than I had to book a hotel in emergency as I had no place to stay but it was so far away from my place so the customer service advised me to cancel that one and book another hotel, so I did buy Expedia fully charged me for the cancellation. No refund for the hotel, charged $260 extra. Very disappointed.
I used Expedia along with a few other travel sites and found out that my computer was completely screwed up by the cookies they use. I then had to pay for SpyHunter to try and get rid of them. I have since bought a MacBook Air. As well, when visiting Banff Alberta I was able to get a better price by calling the resort on their own 1-800 #. So I really don't recommend.
I've had different experiences with Expedia. Once I had reserved a hotel in CA and when checking in asked to change to a larger suite-type room and even though those rooms were available they would not let me upgrade because they said they had no idea what to charge me because they didn't know what Expedia had charged me for the room. I tried asking the hotel staff several different ways but the answer back was always no.

Booked a vacation through them which cost $9000. For one of the hotels, the cost for 3 rooms for 5 adults was $831. I checked their website a few days later and saw the same hotels, same dates, same number of rooms on the same website (Expedia) for $752. I submitted the price guarantee request to get the difference for the lower price and they rejected it. The reason they gave was bogus... they said the quote i got was identical (same hotel, same number of rooms, same dates) however the screen shot I submitted for proof was for 1 extra guest. So even though I got a quote for same number of rooms with more people in them for less money on thier website, they claimed that it was not an "apples to apples" comparison. When i went back to get the lower price quote with only 5 guests like my original quote which i paid, the lower rate had been removed. Bogus guarantee.
I have booked a hotel Chocolate. In st Lucia via Expedia. We arrived there, did not like the fact that the hotel in question did not have any windows or air-conditioning ( not on website) and checked out the next day. The hotel has agreed without any problems, to fully refund us and has confirmed so via email and phone to Expedia.
Do not use Expedia for booking a flight, hotel or car. I went in booked a bundle package and it popped up my flight I chose was sold out. I changed the flight. Hit to complete my booking and it gave me another error. I completely went out and back in and tried to book the complete package and it denied me again saying my information about my credit card was wrong. I reentered it. All of these transactions Expedia charged my card. Now try and get them to reverse the charges, spent around 4 hours and nothing resolved. I have traveled and never used Expedia, should have read the reviews. Now I have to wait to book until they release all of the charges. NEVER will I ever use this again!
I don't recommend using only Expedia for hotel booking. They don't always show the true lowest price. Once I booked hotel on their website and paid $10 more than if I would have booked directly on the hotel's site.
I purchased trip insurance for my daughter's flight. When we had to cancel due to a death in the family i contacted expedia. Of course, the insurance was not through Expedia so I had to file a claim with AIG. Of course, AIG outsourced the processing of the claim. Bottom line is that you are better off not buying this product.
This is the worst travel site. They give you as low amount and when you begin to pay then they start adding additional costs. I paid for upgraded seats and when I look at my Expedia reservation they have the seat assignments and were on AA. 2 days later my seats on AA were gone, AA said that Expedia removed them. Expedia says I didnt pay for them. So a 1100 trip is now close to 1900, now an additional 150 to pay for my upgraded seats again. This is the second trip with Expedia this has happened. Expedia, never again...
I signed up on this site for flight deals and I constantly get emails advertising hotel deals, which I am not interested in and never asked for. Seems that's the only deal they can come up with. I do not like this site at all. Never seem to be concerned that I signed up for one thing-flights.
Booked accommodation for Boat Harbour - (itinerary: **************) on the 9th March. Drove for five hours, arrived at accommodation to be told the booking was not received by the accommodation manager. Called Expedia twice. First time staff told me they could not hear me. Second time they told me they would find alternative accommodation, then hung up on me. Meanwhile, Expedia took full accommodation costs from my credit card. Family of five left to our own devices.

They hired a company in the Philippines to run their customer service that was completely deceptive. They were trained to keep people on hold for hours until people gave up. They were trained to lie and be evasive in all dealings with customers. Months and even up to a year later their customers are still fighting to get their money back from Expedia.
Do yourself a favor and make hotel reservations directly with the hotel. Expedia will give you the runaround if you need to change or cancel your reservation. You can get the same rates booking by yourself.
I will buy southwest before I buy here again. They have hidden rules that you would never know about until you buy. I lost 150 with them. Why didn't I get the travel protection you ask? Even I had Expedia informed me that the only way they refund anyone is if they have proof of emergency. Like if I had to go to the hospital or something. I can't just call and say hey I want to cancel my flight. Sad thing was I wanted to cancel my flight almost two months in advance and still couldn't get refunded
We made a reservation in August of 2020 for August of 2021. Expedia charged us the full amount and now we need to change the reservation. Although they charged us in full they have no record of our reservation and we cannot change anything either on their website or by phone. The woman who answered the phone (from India or someplace close) hung up on us after we waited 3 hours to receive a call back. The hotel we booked at says Expedia is the worst to deal with and there is nothing they can do.
They don't even deserve a star. They advertise a hotel room for 109.00 and changed the date to next month and charged me to change it back to the original date for 85.00 more as if i made the mistake within less than an hour. I even screenshot the original offer, a bunch of thieves
I always book my trips with them since I usually find better deals here than if I book directly with the hotel. If your dates are flexible, they have a calendar that shows which dates are better than others, so you can plan accordingly.
I bought a ticket for my daughter to Vancouver-Houston round trip. They also sold me an AON Insurance for you can change until last 24 hour to flight. Two weeks ago we called Expedia for change return date. They sold a new ticked and sayed; insurance company will send me money which is I payed for first ticket. We called Aon they said just due an emergency they will pay. It is just faik company both of them

My wife and I book all our trips on Expedia. It is much cheaper than booking a flight directly from the airline. The points are nice and although it takes forever for them to redeem, I definitely have been able to use them and get free hotel rooms. App and website are very easy to use. Although sometimes if I am booking a hotel flight and car, the app does not work as well as the website
