HDL should be shut down. They do not respect your package delivery time or information as super critical to your business. DHL and the employee's I had contact with act like government employees. Slow carefree the customer is always wrong and anything can wait till tomorrow! It is hell dealing with DHL.
Awful beyond belief. My family sent me a parcel from abroad with some snacks and diaper rash cream for my baby. The DHL agent called me to say I need to pay import duty, OK no problem. Then in the email he asked me to provide invoices, photos, information of the brands, and online prices of the goods...
How can I provide invoices for things I didn't buy? Also I don't know the exact items, families usually don't send gifts with an itemised list. The value of the stuff is less than $50, less than the shipping fee they charged. I asked them to charge me duty on the declared value or open the parcel to see exactly what is in there... Nope, still asked me for invoices and photos and in a tone like I am some sort of criminal.
Told them to throw it away. Never again.
I think everyone already mentioned all reasons DHL is a terrible carrier.
If you have a problem, good luck as there is no way to contact them directly (or they hide it very well).
They think adding a chatbot helps compensate for their terrible customer support (yet, the chatbot is only able to help with trivial things we don't need it for).
So I am here to ask you to do the only thing that can have a chance to change something. Stop ordering from companies that use DHL as a carrier (and don't give you the option to choose another one).
That is only way that with enough people, can create an impact.
Oh dear. They threw my parcel on my doorstep and smashed all my plates. I got a second set sent. They delivered it to the wrong address. I wrote them an email and said that they were moronic. Oops. That did it. They wouldn't be picking up my parcel from the wrong address and delivering it to me. Like I care? I'll just get a refund. They seem to forget who their clients are. Bad delivery, customers won't buy from the companies and they lose money. Guess what? DHL don't get their contracts renewed. Terrible service, all anonymous so no accountability.
Later email implied I'd sent a load of abusive emails! Nope. Nice try anonymous DHL worker but I keep them all. See below. Utter lies.
I ordered medication for my cat from the USA a month ago through DHL Express. It's supposed to be transported on ice, and typically, it arrives within 8 days. Unfortunately, I'm still waiting this time. The medication is expensive, and after a month in containers, I can just throw it away since it should be kept cold. It's disheartening. When I contacted customs, they claim not to have it, but DHL insists customs is holding it. This has been my worst experience ever.
I lodged same documentation in Australia to be send to Germany. I was promised it would take 4 days.
The documentation where shipped back woods and forward and arrived after 8 days. When complaining to DHL they just said that 4 days is an estimate only, so it can take any days, no guarantee given.
I have no idea what kind of business they are running. But I cannot recommend there service at all, like most of the others comments..
I have sent over 20 different packages with Express easy within Germany, delivery was supposed to take two days, it took four days, that's not express at all. In one case my package even came back after four days with no explanation why, written on the package that I should buy a new label, both addresses were correct and no reason given why the package was not delivered but returned to me. Lately I'm not even able to track my shipping at all, and this is what you pay for too. Not happy at all. Express 0*
I Ordered some 3D print supplies from Czech Republic first time used FedEx took 2 day. Next order was smaller and thought save a bit on shipping and use DHL. Bad move 2 to 3 day shipping is now a week and half. Not first time they have do this thinking back also had this problem few years ago with an order from UK.
Emailed DHL and they said even though I paid for 2 to 3 day week an half is all they can guarantee. Avoid these people not worth the our money
It's ridiculous. I used express shipping and paid extra money so it would get here faster. It's going to take an extra 5 days more to get here than the LATEST expected delivery date. My package has been sitting in houston, which isn't but an hour away from where i live and has been on hold for the past 3 days. My package would've gotten here sooner if i used standard shipping, which was a free option. Very disappointed and will NEVER be using dhl for a delivery again. Absolutely poor poor service.
The worst experience you can have with a company almost every time your package will not arrive due for weeks due to some lies or you will need to pick it up yourself in a hangar out of town. Never use these guys
Very bad service today almost 10 days since i send my parcel and i pay for express DHL. Normally has to arrive in 2 to 3 days. But till today no one knows where my parcel. Inside package was paperwork, which i work on it 3 moths to prepare. And those paperwork cost around 800 euro plus shipping cost. I hope DHL will take responsibility for my package.
I had to go back and forth with them as they tried to overcharge custom fees for a good I ordered. They first sent me a 850$ amount which was different from the 750$ on the invoice and by fighting I was able to pay for the real amount (409$).
I wonder how many people just pay what is requested without challenging but these guys... I will have received my package 10 days later in the end.
After 3 months of back and forth my package was still not delivered to me. They kept dancing around documents and charged multiple times. In the end they blamed FDA for the delay and said they can't do anything else. Worst customer service.
I have always had issues with deliveries with DHL. Drivers claim noone was home to receive packages when I'm sitting at the front door waiting for noone to arrive. Can't change the address or even talk to a live person. DHL customer service is the worst and this is really a bad company on so many levels.
There is no reason shipping within the US should take 3 weeks. I've cancelled a few auto-ship items because the companies use this awful delivery service. They must be the cheapest, but it shows. Businesses will lose customers using such a slow delivery service. No doubt.
I selected 2-4 day shipping. My order was shipped on 7/13 from Australia and last update I received was on 7/16 that it was in Dallas. It is now 7/22... Going on 10 days and I still have not received my package. After sitting on hold for what seemed like an eternity, I was finally able to speak to a representative and they tell me they don't know why it's taken so long and don't know when it will actually be delivered. Completely unacceptable.
I was told my package would come 2 days early but it kept becoming a problem. Days later they keep moving my estimate date. I'm so frustrated and I will never use delivery from them again. Still have not receive my package.
Worst shipping company ever! EVERY TIME something comes via DHL its a disaster. Never have trouble with any other shipping co.
Driver says EVERY TIME my address is invalid although all other carriers have no issue. Then all i say is that its valid and they magically deliver it late and find address with no further instruction. This time I paid a fortune to have it days before christmas. Now it has missed Christmas and I won't see the receiving party again for a while. To make matters worse, they delivered to my next door neighbor (literally) but not my late package even though they confirmed in the truck. Told me 4 times it would definitely be there. Then driver's shift ended and no delivery by Christmas. Told me they would call back 3 tunes and nothing. Now closed for Christmas. Still no package. Friends have had similar DHL issues. I will insist senders not use DHL going forward or I won't use them.
I would give 0 stars, if I could. Trying to ship internationally and the local DHL branch (Stockton) has no clue what they are doing. The shipments keep getting shipped back to me. I have provided the requested information and they literally do not understand that 0.5 ml is less than 1 ml.
DHL express is simply fantastic. Especially for international deliveries, they are really amazing and deliver packages on time. DHL is my all time first preference for sending packages to India. Many thanks to DHL for their prompt service. I also want to point out that there is some miscommunication going between the DHL Staff. I ordered for an envelope and two times the driver came without an envelope. Finally I had to seal my document in a cover and hand over. They got to find a way to fill those gaps. Regardless the package was delivered on time.

Answer: Difficult. Automated system. Rip off phone charges. Cost so far to track our parcel, possibly missing has been around £25 in phone charges. Still trying. They wont phone you back and yet it is their error.
