I don't even know where to begin. Purchased a couch and dining room table from Crate and Barrel 12/18/21. The items of course were back-ordered to March 2022 for shipment. We reluctantly purchased and were excited to see the items ready to ship by March 23rd.
The confirmation email comes along that items will be delivered between 12:45 and 2:45pm. Then... nothing. No one showed, no one called, no one sent an email, nothing.
Allegedly, the driver was sick - but again, this was multiple chats and calls to Crate and Barrel. They then inform that we will not be able to receive our items until March 30th, an additional week. Unfortunately, knowing that the items were "en route", we had gotten rid of our old items to prepare the space. We are in an empty house without any solution, hoping that the 30th will work.
What kind of customer service is this? No notifications until we call back, only to know the delivery dates of screwed up logistics take a backseat to place shipping on the 30th? This is the only store in which this type of delivery challenge has taken place, ESPECIALLY without any courtesy of giving us a call. I will never buy from Crate and Barrel again... not even a fork.
Great customer service and website is easy to shop through and find what you need with ease. Everyone is always willing to assist you when you enter the store.
I've purchased everything from furniture to kitchenware here, and I'm always happy with the value, the fashionable style, and the quality. I'm a customer for life!
They hired the best sales people. Always helpful and friendly. I love the quality of the items I have purchased here. I have never been disappointed by this store.
Being that the nearest store is at the Yorkdale Mall in Toronto, we in Nova Scotia have to order our wants online your main store in the US which in itself isn't out of the ordinary, but what is, is the Holy Crap shipping charges / not only do you pay US shipping charges, you will pay Canadian shipping charges from Ontario thus making shipping costs astronomical / Here's a suggestion Crate and barrel / For Canadian shoppers hook up your online services to your Ontario store and bring the goods ordered into Canada via your shipments from your US warehouse which I'm sure is on a pretty regular bases then redistribute the goods to your Canadian customers / just saying
Even though they are expensive they offer great products.
Weve ordered 3 beds and all the linens and we love them. Of course weve ordered other things for our kitchen, bath etc.
All good
My delivery was set for a Saturday, and the crew came on time. Unfortunately, they said they could not deliver my couch because our elevator was too small. The crew also said that they would need at least two more people (there were two crew members initially) in order to navigate the furniture up the stairs.
What I find most disappointing is that at a Crate & Barrel, you're used to receiving white glove service at the store. So I expected that someone from Crate & Barrel would have initiated the conversation about fit and sizing prior to delivery instead of discovering at that moment of delivery that it wouldn't work. Doesn't Crate & Barrel deliver hundreds of couches a week? Shouldn't Crate & Barrel be experts at delivering furniture? A quick Google search reveals that they have been in business since 1962. It's reasonable to assume that they would either ask for measurements ahead of time or have a database of neighborhoods, homes, and buildings they've delivered to before and ask the right questions ahead of the delivery date.
To make matters worse, I had to call Crate & Barrel three times to try and get traction. Each time they said that the delivery crew had yet to report back. They were not able to schedule re-delivery until the delivery crew reported back. At the same time, they will deliver your furniture on a Saturday. They won't do anything else, like, say, note that they were unable to deliver it.
For the furniture and delivery costs, I expect Crate & Barrel to secure measurements ahead of time and to react quickly to reschedule when furniture cannot be delivered. Crate & Barrel should be experts at furniture delivery, supply chains, manufacturing, etc.
Crate & Barrel, what happened to you? Let's just say this company has taken a nosedive in customer service, particularly their online department. I placed an order online for an item that was backordered. Before placing the order, I contacted customer service via text (they no longer are taking phone calls?) and the rep assured me I wouldn't be charged for the item until it was available. Well that turned out to be a lie, because right before I hit "Place Order" I was warned that I'd be charged a 50% deposit. Uh, OK, whatever. I also asked for a coupon to be applied to the order that wasn't working for me, and, again, the rep reassured me it'd be done. Well, I contacted them 24 hours later, after it appeared the full amount was now being charged to my credit card. Not only did they knowingly charge the FULL AMOUNT of the order despite what I agreed to on their website (50% deposit), I found out the 20% also wasn't applied. They tried to weasel out of applying the discount because they claimed it wasn't a valid coupon AND said that I would have to pay the full amount because it was a store pick-up versus having it shipped. That made no sense to me and certainly wasn't disclosed when I made the purchase, which means they are fraudulently charging people amounts they don't agree to. I immediately told them to CANCEL the order and I'll never be doing business online again. What a nightmare!
I had my registry here and they did a great job managing it. No duplicate gifts, no other issues. Love this store!
Love shopping here! Always great for closing gifts and keeping my clients happy. Their selection and quality are second to none.
Need I really say more? It's a great Place with a variety of foods, and has a general store to browse thru before or after your meal.
What I like about Crate and Barrel is their customer service. It is one of the favourite shopping hunt
Very nice display of all classic and trendy home items from kitchen to living room. Love to shop here!
I bought a gift and they delivered that on time but their price is little high. I think they adjust rates in my up coming ordered.
Fortunate to have a store close by to touch and feel the merchandise. However, just ordered new dining chairs and they look amazing.
CONSUMER PLEASE BE VERY CAREFUL ABOUT WHEN YOU WILL BE TOTALLY RESPONSIBLE FOR A BACK ORDERED ITEM. It seems C & B feels empowered to hold you responsible for an incomplete order whenever it is convenient for them to do so.
We are very dissatisfied with the billing policy Crate & Barrel (C & B) employs on back ordered merchandise. We ordered a product from C& B's gift registry for an August wedding on May 26,2022. We were given an "end of June" delivery date. We were charged 1/2 the cost of the product plus all of the shipping + Tax. We knew this going in which was fair. Our reasonable expectation was that balance due (the second half of cost of the merchandise) would be charged to the credit card we originally used when the merchandise was finally delivered. Last week we were informed that the expected delivery date was now late July. It seems they have one of the boxes that comprises the total order but a second box associated with the merchandise was somewhere in shipping to them and would finally be deliverable in late July. This is certainly understandable. What was not understandable, reasonable, and/or ethical was that C & B has now billed our credit card for the balance of the order as though the order was completed. C & B's seems to consider the order now billable because it is on a ship somewhere in the Indian or Pacific Ocean with our order number on it. This seems to the old Accounting Professor's mind to violate any reasonable definition I can think of to define when a customer is responsible for an incomplete order much less reflect the rules governing GAAP income recognition.
As a loyal C&B customer (before this experience) I was excited to see this product (Ooni Large modular table) available on C&B's website. Unfortunately, my excitement was short lived and my loyalty to C&B broken. The product was shipped standard delivery via Fedex. There was a shipping exception and the product arrived a few days late in a slightly beat up box. Upon opening the product I discovered the tabletop had a sizable dent. I quickly informed C&B and they put in an order for a replacement with expedited delivery. Product issues happen but I wasnt too enthused with the prospects of repackaging this mammoth product in its damaged box. The replacement arrved a week later and this time the package was even worse shape. It looked like it had been dragged upon a truck. When I opened the box my fears were realized: the tabletop had a significant dent yet again! I did some research and found a few other complaints indicated that Ooni tables arrived dented (see Reddit). Not sure if this is the manufacturer's or C&B's issue but I expect C&B to make it right! Faced with the prospect of returning 2 mammoth damaged packages i (the return label for the first had not been sent to me yet), I contacted Crate and Barrel to propose that I ignore the denting and receive a 'final sale' discount rather than risk yet another damaged shipment. I was shocked when the best they could was $40 off. I'm not trying to be enrich myself but at this point I had spent almost two hours communicating with Customer Service, buying replacement packing materials and repackaging the defective products. I told them the denting was too signifcant to the aesthetic to accept that amount and that I would instead return both boxes for full refunds. As I courtesy for the inadequate shipping materials I asked that their delivery team pickup the items but they refused. This I am now out of pocket about $50 for materials to reship. What a horrible experience. If you are considering purchasing from CB or this product I would advise you to find a local seller so you can personally inspect the items before purchasing and taking possession. This will allow you to avoid the hassle. The convenience that C&B online offers may proof to be an illusion. It certainly was for me!
Love Crate and Barrel, especially the order online and pick up option. Just wish the prices were a little lower
