The site takes no responsibility for the people that transit items/animals on their website. They got two stars for giving me a credit towards taking another chance. They would not give me my money back (since I no longer felt comfortable using the site) agreed to a price with a driver for pick up of a puppy but then after getting my deposit refused to give the breeder the needed contact info the day before he was suppose to pick up the puppy. Was VERY shady. So we didn't feel comfortable releasing the puppy to him. So he got $150 out of me for doing nothing other than screwing me and putting me in a difficult position with the breeder. I was stuck using this site because I didn't want to loose the outrageous $100+ fee on top of the already $150 dollars.
I found a great shipper at a great price on CitizenShipper.com. Bravo Nation, Inc. hauled an aircraft from Delaware to Texas for us. My only complaint is CitizenShipper rates 278.00 for their part was considerably higher than Uship charges.
Beware of scammers on this site. Do not pay for the shipping prior ot pickup. I have shipped a couple of times with good luck, but last time a shipper got my money. I thought that they screened their shippers, but NO...
Hi Karen, thank you for helping build awareness of some basic good techniques when dealing with the internet. Our recommendation for paying drivers for shipments if their contract requires a deposit or even the full cost of shipping upfront is to pay with a disputable method such as a credit card, when possible, and if not, then Paypal or Venmo but never with a money order or by wiring cash. If the driver states this as their requirement, please don’t book that driver. Cash on delivery is perfectly fine. We do screen our drivers, but no background checks are 100% proof-positive that a scam artist won’t be able to fool. We do the legally allowable verification and are always trying to find ways to eliminate the bad elements. Thank you for providing this feedback and please feel free to check out the articles on our website and blogs to find out what is involved in the screening process for yourself.
Gave my "transporter" 4 stars because he worked hard to make this happen, but equipment limitations did not allow it. However, Citizenshipper right away gave me a credit for the money I had paid and now I will re-list my shipment. Hopefully it works out this time.
I paid a $140 deposit and scheduled to have my dog picked up on Saturday; the girl never showed up. I emailed the company and informed them that she was a no call no show. Michael asked for proof that she did not communicate with me. I sent in screenshots of me trying to message her all day with no response. Then he said they had to give her 72 hours to confirm she never showed or see if she did not respond. We are now past 72 hours and no one is responding to me. I am single mother and every dollar in our life counts. I now have to make the road trip from TX to CA with my 75 pound dog and 6 month old baby. Citizenshipper if you're reading this, please refund me my deposit!
Dear Nicole, I am deeply sorry for the inconvenience and frustration you experienced with your scheduled transport. Our aim is to provide a seamless and stress-free experience, and we clearly failed to deliver that to you.
I understand how important your pet and every dollar is to you as a single mother, and I am sorry for the extra burden this has caused. We take all feedback seriously, and I can assure you that we are taking steps to prevent this kind of situation from happening again in the future.
As for your deposit, I would like to assure you that we will process a full refund for you as soon as possible. I would also like to offer our assistance in any other way that we can to make this situation right.
Again, I apologize for the inconvenience and frustration you experienced. Please email support@citizenshipper.com if I can be of further assistance.
We are quite pleased with the service. They helped us find a pet transport driver in a pretty fast time frame. We were met with several different options to chose from and the process was pretty easy and hassle free. The only complaint we have is that there service fee is a little steep with it being 180 for us.
Stole thousands of dollars from me for a cat. They continuously sent emails asking for more and more money. For insurance, for vaccinations, etc. They only accept ZELLE, or Cash App so beware that that those companies won't reimburse you. They can try and take down my post everyday but I'll be posting every single day!
Dear Alexandria, thank you for taking the time to share your experience. I’m so sorry it fell short of your expectations, and I appreciate the opportunity to respond to your review.
Please understand that this unfortunate situation was an exception. We care deeply about our customers, and we’re committed to constantly improving the quality of our support and services. Our team works hard to provide exceptional value through stringent driver screening, ID verifications, access to 24/7 televet care and the $1,000 pet protection coverage that we offer for every transport. This helps save our customers time, money and unnecessary worry.
Again, I sincerely apologize that your experience with CitizenShipper didn’t reflect this.
We understand the importance of feedback. We’re here listening with the goal to improve our services for you, our customer, and your beloved pets.
Please email support@citizenshipper.com if I can be of further assistance.
We had a good experience finding a reliable transporter for our new puppy. The quotes were much cheaper than comparable companies and we found a wonderful driver who cared for our dog so well! Could have been more structured as far as a guaranteed arrival day but she maintained regular communication.
I thank CitizenShipper for having a platform that allows for a vast variety of options for pet transport services. Receiving many quotes and reading review on their site allowed for an informed decision.
Great way to safely transport your animals throughout the continental US. Had one incident where the driver was a scammer. Collected money and never transported the animals and went MIA. I received a refund for the CitizenShipper cost, but was pretty much told "sorry, but we can't do anything" about the payment made towards the driver. Not sure how they screen their drivers. All other drivers have been great. The one mishap was a costly one though. Wish they secured drivers better.
Hello Victoria,
I am sincerely sorry you had a bad experience with a driver you found on the platform. We do screen drivers for applicable background checks however, since we do not employ the drivers (thus keeping costs down), we are unable to do complete background checks. Also, if a scammer has not been caught scamming, there would be nothing to find, even if we were able to check fingerprints. We understand that, and we do our best to help customers who find themselves in that situation. To wit: we recommend only using refundable, traceable payments when paying drivers; we have many help articles and a whole team of customer support agents available to provide that knowledge and advice; in cases where the police are involved, we are able to provide the information we have on file so that a case can be made. No one here at CitizenShipper is happy that this happens, but we have put as many safeguards in place which are legal and have the best outcomes in mind. If you have not initiated a theft case against this driver and wish to, please contact support@citizenshipper.com for the information.
We've used citizenshipper a half dozen times to transport dogs and pups. Some of the drivers were excellent communicators, others, not so much. It's hard to 'do research' exactly - you are pretty much restricted to the reviews and profiles on the citizenshipper website and your gut feelings.
I connected with a shipper, even sent them 200 up front and attempted to cancel my order on the site as they'd like roughly 20% of the cost of shipping just for connecting me with a shipper. I talked with the shipper and decided to move a few more animals with my shipment for some extra money. After talking with customer support they've determined they aren't going to cancel the shipment on their site even if they get to keep the $130 for connecting me to a shipper. So now I'll be paying 900 instead of the original 700 because "it appears the shipment is still on". Thanks customer support for seeing half the situation and only doing what benifits the company while screwing over customers.
Hello Jeff,
I believe there has been some miscommunication in this situation. You can connect with a driver for free by posting a listing on our marketplace and receiving bids. As is stated before you actually book and pay the CitizenShipper fee, you only pay once you’ve contracted with a driver. There are specific, legal rules regarding the contract once you click on the button, just like with anything else that you buy that has terms and conditions. The fee is to offset the costs of web hosting, engineers to create and maintain the site, a customer support team to field questions and solve issues, and marketing, branding, and promotions, among other things. If you talked with the shipper and did NOT cancel the shipment but instead just added to it, you have, ipso facto, not cancelled a shipment and are not due any refund. There are very clear terms for when a customer is entitled to a refund, and unfortunately deciding it’s too expensive is not one of them. You’ve already used the service, even if you decided not to go with a shipper, which it appears that you have. You may email jesika@citizenshipper.com should you require clarification or if I am misunderstanding the situation as it's been explained.
While I understand this is a 3rd party service, they really did nothing to help us when our shipper basically didn't communicate with us and then threatened to leave our dog where he was! It's not ok to claim to "just be a 3rd party" and allow reckless drivers to hide behind their company. The driver threatened my husband because we had contacted the company mid-service to say we still didn't have our dog. He called my husband a "little $#*!" and wanted to fight him. How do you still employee someone like this? Our dog was covered in feces and our breeder was not happy with the car conditions either!
I will say that I did get a phone call from Shawn McMenamin the Shipping Customer Liaison Manager who seemed concerned and they did an "investigation" but it came down to "While we took both you and the breeder as having a great deal of credibility, we had to weigh that against the track record of the long standing driver and the lack of documentable evidence." Well, why would I waste my time making up a story like this? We have a very busy life and I am taking the time so others don't have to go through this.
One positive that hopefully will come out of this ( thus the 2 stars) is they seem to be now looking into a tracking system for all pets, which they should have already have.
I would say make sure your driver shares a tracker from DAY 1. I would make sure you demand pictures and updates. And I would hold Citizen shipper responsible for tracking their drivers!
Hi Amy, this sounds like a frustrating situation all around. As you probably know the drivers are independent contractors and as such, we have limited control over them. We expect professional levels of service from each one but unfortunately we can’t discipline them without documentation. I read through your interaction with our support department and i see the agents tried really hard to make sure the event was investigated to find out if we had enough proof to make a case. There was not enough proof of negligence on the part of the driver and therefore should we discipline him, there would be legal repercussions. We are working on implementing a plan to put GPS trackers on pets during shipping but making sure we have the best units possible. We do appreciate all customer feedback so that we can make positive changes to the processes and improve outcomes across the board, so thank you for helping us implement good changes.
This company is quick, secure, responsive and guaranteed. I had multiple offers to transport my Dog safely across 1500 miles within minutes of signing up. Our experience was amazing our driver was patient and flexible. If you need something transported I would look no further.
Every time I have used citizenshipper to transport pets, I have been absolutely thrilled. It is so wonderful to know that a loving caring human being is taking care of your beloved furry friend. M&M Courier made an 8 o'clock delivery this morning. Not only did I get my adorable puppy Yeti, but I got a birthday balloon and card! They go above and beyond! And I truly appreciate it! You will too!
The booking process was easy and straightforward. The bids were competitive. The courier who took my order was communicative and professional. All around a good experience. The online platform allows for bids to be compatible while assuring that drivers and companies are reputable and safe. Reviews are available and background check information as well. The site has additional articles and such for people who maybe are booking services for the first time and don't know standards, etc. it makes a pretty intimidating process feel approachable and personal. I didn't experience any problems but I'm sure they would have been handled well.
I found Citizen Shipper online while looking for a qualified candidate to transport my puppy to me. It was quick and convenient to use. Within minutes of putting in the details needed, I received bids from several qualified candidates. We choose Safety Pet Travels. Everything from there was smooth sailing.
We use citizenship or to plan the transport of our puppy from Florida to Rhode Island. The site was very easy to use and quick responses by the services to meet our needs. It provided us with a wide variety of choices price ranges and overall comfort level to know that they had vetted each one of these companies independently. If you are in need of shipping anything this is the site I would recommend
Using Citizen Shipper allowed me to find a trustworthy driver for shipping my new puppy from Wisconsin to Ohio. I received 8 messages from pet couriers immediately after posting my request- this allowed me to read reviews and choose the one that best fit our situation. The driver I chose was professional, courteous, and aware of pets' needs while on a long drive. I would definitely use this site again :)
I was very apprehensive about having my puppy shipped out to me. I did not know if I was going to be able to find someone that would be reliable and trustworthy. Luckily for me, I found just that on citizenshipper! I posted what time I needed for the transport, and within minutes I received multiple offers! The site shows all the past transports a particular person or company has mad as well as all their credentials. This makes it easier to make a decision on who to choose to make your transport. Will definitely use citizenshipper again when needing a transport!
Answer: Teresa, thank you for your question! As a shipping customer, besides the payment for the quote provided by the driver using our website, you are due a small booking fee which depends and fluctuates based on the bid. To learn more about how fees work, please visit out help center article -https://citizenshipper.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/202363429-How-much-does-it-cost-to-use-CitizenShipper-
Answer: The driver directly you just pay the booking fee to the site when you accept the bid.
Answer: You should be able to google them and find reviews, meanwhile when you click on their business information it tells you if they are certified and verified that is all you really need and then there are reviews posted their along with their star rating and how many transports they have completed.
Answer: Hi Derri, if that company is listed on our site and has done deliveries, they may have reviews from previous customers.
Answer: Hi Elizabeth, we sure can transport birds. Just go to www.citizenshipper.com and list your posting with the location, the type of bird, and the dates you need to transport. You will then receive bids from drivers and can communicate with any of them until you find the one you want.
Answer: My booking fee was US$79 and did not get my US$25 rebate as promised in an email from CitizenShippers. Booking fee far to high
