I've been ordering from Chewy for a couple of years - I first discovered them when they were a fresh startup going by the name of Mr. Chewy.
I started using Chewy because of their low prices and great selection of higher-end cat food. The shipping is always super fast - they often ship an hour or two after my order is placed - and the big box usually arrives in 2-3 days. Since I started using this company, I haven't had a single problem with one of my orders.
I haven't used Auto Ship to get free shipping, but with three cats, it's not hard to hit the free shipping minimum if I get two months worth of food at a time. I just kind of feel bad for the UPS or Fed Ex guy who has to haul the box up to my door.
I bought a bunch of these "hide a squirrel" toys - some for my dog and some for friends. Chewy.com sold them at half the price other sites were. That is a HUGE difference. And shipping was free on orders of $49 or more. Really great site, more than fair prices.
I have actually used Chewy.com for several years, and in all that time They have constantly worked with the customer like no company I have ever worked with. Example: My Standard Poodle had problems with a freeze-dried food I bought through them. No questions asked, they refunded my money. Then I got a note from the person I spoke with asking how my dog was doing.
Recently, my 14 yr old standard poodle got sprayed by a skunk. The flea and tick collar, I just bought, is saturated with the skunk oils. Nothing I did neutralized the smell. 1 call to Chewy and the young lady put a new one in the mail for me, without a charge. Not only do they have good prices but they have exceptional customer care. Beware! Placing orders with Chewy can cause pending holds on your funds in excess of your purchase. I called and it was explained to me that Chewy puts a hold on the original amount and other holds are placed by vendors of some products prior to shipping. This is unacceptable! I authorized $111.45 and now have pending holds on my funds in excess of $200! This is causing a hardship for me until the multiple holds are removed and funds are replaced. I've purchased multiple items from Chewy for years and have never had this happen. I am refusing this order and will NEVER do business with Chewy again!
For example, Purina brand (the most common dog/cat food products) do not fall under this category. Found this out by placing order worth $200 and getting only $2 discount (expected $10). Called customer service and they explained, that the only item that gets 5% discount in my order are treats.
I've become a frequent shopper at Chewy since getting a new pup in July 2022. As someone who relies on Amazon's customer reviews, I frequently try to leave reviews at Chewy.com but they simply won't go through. I've read their terms and conditions, some are positive and some are negative reviews, all contain useful information for shoppers. When I emailed their Customer Service department about it, all they had to say was that profanity wasn't allowed. Huh? I didn't say anything about profanity in my email, and nothing in my writing style suggests I am the type of person who uses profanity. They say that the first thing people assume you're doing wrong is usually what they themselves do wrong. So that's the kind of employee working at Chewy's customer service, and you have to go to Amazon to find genuine reviews of ALL of Chewy's products. Most of the time, I figure I might as well order from Amazon while I'm there searching for authentic reviews.
I only use them if there's a larger item I need because their service is great. I ordered a carrier that was the wrong size and customer service sent the correct size lightning fast. My problem is the shipping threshold. It's fine if you have multiple animals or maybe larger animals but when you have one cat? Meeting that $49 is just not possible. It ruins any sort of savings - and I honestly don't see a huge difference in prices
Corporate cares nothing about customers. They have been feeding me lies for over a year now. Not the fault of customer service agents. 1-3 day shipping is a lie. They have it on their website and on commercials. It's been addressed by numerous customers other than me and they will do nothing to rectify any issues but lie. I won't support a business who likely makes billions of dollars every year but doesn't care about customers. Corporate needs new leadership.
Chewy is such an excellent company. They have a wide variety of all pet-related products and for a fair price. Their customer service is outstanding- they're always just a call away with little to no hold time. Anytime I've had any food issues, they've taken care of it and allowed me to donate to local shelters- now that's a company that loves pets and supports local communities. I'll always be a Chewy customer!
My first order with Chewy was a month or so ago, and I bought pet food. The order showed up immediately--like, the very next day! I was impressed! So when I ordered more dog food yesterday, I expected it to show up today, like magic! Or tomorrow! That would've also been fine. The tracking says it's coming on Wednesday! (Today's Saturday.) I can't help but wonder if they send people out to the pet store (and then to your front porch) for customers' first orders in order to make it seem like they're really fast shippers. Ugh! It's very shady. Their web site says "Free 1-3 day shipping on this item." And based on past experience, I expected that to mean that the dog food would show up in 1-3 days. But they probably meant (very sneakily) "Free 1-3 BUSINESS day shipping on this item." And if I ordered it on Friday, and then Saturday's considered a weekend, and it shows up on Wednesday, they're in the clear... in a strict legal sense, if not an ethical one.
Chewy customer service is way better than 5 stars!
We had an amazing surprise from Chewy when we found a package in our mailbox upon returning from our travels yesterday. A few weeks ago we shared with them some happy pics of our puppy, dashing through lake shore so excited and happy with his new toy and life vest we got from Chewy.
Unexpectedly, the Chewy team painted a portrait of our pup with his favorite toy and life vest on him! It came with a beautiful card with such personal touch.
At first having found a package from Chewy, I checked the app to see if perhaps we had ordered something from Chewy and forgot it was coming but, upon opening the package, we realized it was this beautiful surprise gift!
The people at Chewy are AMAZING beyond words! Our pup Asher thanks you as well for his beautifully painted portrait. THANK YOU!
1st I got my package stolen. Chewy resent me the same package with no extra cost the very next day. Then, one of the products didn't work out and they refunded me my money and told me to donate it to a local animal Shelter or family that might need it. This company goes above and beyond. I would never think a company would do such things. Will continue to purchase from them.
Once again, damaged box, damaged cans (8 this time!). The packaging needs to be improved. Every delivery now has damaged cans.
Even with a quick response from customer service and a credit or new shipment, this is an inconvenience and unacceptable. I will find another place to buy the food.
I expect to receive undamaged cans. I can understand once or twice to see a can or two that were impacted during the loading process. But a company that considers this to be " normal" and not take action to improve packaging and shipping is not a company to do business with. I spend too much money on this dog food to deal with this every month.
They messed up my order, and left me in a bind. They didn't offer to credit me for their mistake, or really even seem to care. They were polite enough, but were firmly against making good on their errors. I won't be ordering form them again.
I ordered on a Friday evening and had my cat tree Monday morning! Inexpensive pricing and the tree was so sturdy even our fat cat can jump on it. It wobbles a little when he does but it's totally fine! :D Completely delighted with this place!
Oh, yeah, it came with a couple of toys which is why the cat is chewing on the (elastic) string. Those were gone within a day or two but that's expected. Our cats are like sharks, haha. They play with the toys but yeah, the string was snapped.
I normally don't ever write reviews but I just needed to share my wonderful experience. I was supposed to receive my package of my kittens food and litter today. Fedex said it was delivered but the photo they took of the package being "delivered" looked to be still in the truck. I then called chewy and had a wonderful worker help me create a new order for no cost. They also reimbursed me for some of the cost since I needed to purchase food to cover till the new package would come in. A+++++ Customer Service!
I have been ordering from this site for the past few months, and have been very satisfied. The product comes within days of ordering, and is always packed well. Their prices are the best I have found overall. There prices are pretty close to those of doggiefood.com, but I found too many items that I needed to be out of stock on doggiefood.
Chewy also has an incredible selection. They have every item I've ever searched for. I will only feed my dogs products that are made in the USA, and Chewy has a massive selection to choose from.
I have ordered cat litter and treats in the same order, so that I can get the free shipping that comes with a order over $50. First time they packages my dogs blue buffalo treats in with the cat litter, they were all crushed, they did send a replacement bag for that incident. This time they put a large plastic containers of cat treats in with litter, it came smashed and treats were all over the box. When contacting customer service, their answer was to order litter separately... great answer if you want to pay double shipping or twice the products... very unsatisfied!
Our dog Sade recently died of bone cancer at the age of 14 years old. She was a remarkable dog who survived the Joplin tornado of May 22,2011 in the basement of our home with us, when the portion above ground portion of the house was totally destroyed. One Hundred and Sixty-One persons along with numerous dogs and cats were not so lucky! She was a survivor! I didn't know her time was so short when I ordered a 2-month supply of medication that she wasn't able to use. I contacted Chewy and they credited my account for the unused medication. They also sent us a dozen roses in Sadie's memory. Excellent service from this company! They really care! Our hearts still break, but Chewy sure helped to consul our family during this very difficult time. I recently had to take my first walk in 13 years without Sadie. Very difficult, but we are extremely thankful for the 14 years she enriched our lives. Thank you Chewy for your compassion and great customer service!
I have only had positive experiences with this site. If i order something and it was wrong or damaged they are quick to fix the problem! Everything i have ordered has been as described. I have not dealt much with them since the buy out (just one purchase) but so far it still has gone well.
Answer: No trouble at all. They have the best customer service/replacement/refund practices I've ever encountered. By all means, contact them again if you're having an issue.
Answer: If you are having trouble returning an item, call Customer Service and ask them to assist you. My understanding for returns is any item can be returned, even if it has been used you may return it within 1 year of original purchase. Their Custom Service is available 24 hours, 7 days a week. So, if you work odd hours you don't to wait until Customer Service is available.
Answer: Because they make it a point to lie and deceive their customers... I will NEVER use them again!
Answer: Ever thought of reading the FAQ posted on EVERY SINGLE COMPANIES WEBSITE to answer your own questions? Companies post these FAQ's for a reason. Too bad people are too lazy to read them. Then you scream at the reps you speak to due to your own stupidity levels in NOT READING A COMPANIES POLICIES. FYI it is a CONSUMERS RESPONSIBILITY to read those policies as the company already knows their own policies. FYI shipping from the USA to Canada cost customs fees and taxes which are NOT refundable and if you chose to return an item you will will incur these fees again and YOU are responsible for paying for them not the company you do business with. International shipping also requires proper documentation to get packages through customs. Not every USA company has the man power to deal with this enormous amount of work nor do they wish to deal with the headaches involved with shipping outside of the USA. How so many of you Canadians do not know this information is mind boggling.
