I prefer to shop online for books rather than going to the actual store. My books always come in on time, packaged with care and are always in good condition. I have bought many, many books online and never once had an issue. Plus, it seems a slight bit cheaper to buy online rather than in store. 5/5. Excellent.
Available in all stores, as per their website. Many have photographed display racks in plain site of doors. Unless you're okay with the perverse indoctrination of our children that is sweeping this nation, I strongly advise you reconsider supporting Chapters-Indigo and also give some consideration to homeschooling your kids too (if you aren't aware, you need to ask for a copy of the sex curriculum being presented to elementary school aged kids)! Enough is enough! I'm disgusted and disappointed to say the least.
Purchased a few items over a month ago so ended up cancelling. Also ordered the oura ring sizer over a month ago as well and they still haven't got any sizes in stock other than 2. Waited a week to hear back from them through the chat, so eventually decided to wait on hold to get through via phone. There was no solution other than waiting (which would mean if no sizes become available you are out hundreds of dollars since you cannot return after a month, and they were not sure if any would be in stock) or refunding. Waste of time and energy. If you don't buy products on sale I find they are way too expensive for the inconsistency of stock received after purchasing an item.
I thought I'd give Indigo another chance as I want to support individual companies rather than the Amazon monopoly. However, I have been waiting since December 25,2021 for a book that was apparently shipped December 29th. I have phoned the store that it was being shipped to twice now and they know nothing. It's Feb. 8th, 2022. Similar problem in May 2021 but thought I would give this company another chance. I asked for a refund today, hopefully no problems with that. Small family businesses have better online service than Chapters/Indigo. Never again. What a waste of time!
I ordered a kobo and case online. I was supposed to have received it February 12, according g to their scheduled delivery. It is now February 23 and the product has not even left their warehouse. Since they created a label they say that they are unable to do anything. I have spoken to multiple people on chat and by email and not one of them has been helpful. They will not cancel my order, and they will not ship it. I guess they expect me to pay for a product they won't send to me? I don't care if they created a label for the box, until they actually give the box to UPS there is no way I can receive it. The worst customer service I have experienced in a very long time. If you can, order from Amazon, they at least have exceptional customer service.
Ordered two books from Indigo because I had a gift card to use. We are a week past the ETA and nothing yet, worse the tracking number says the parcel has never been shipped. Tried to contact them twice through their website and I never got a reply, even after a whole week waiting. Worse experience ever, worse after sales service ever, I should have thrown that gift card down the drain. GO AMAZON!
Recently was at the Winnipeg Polo Park Store. Bought 2 journals that were 30%off on the online store. I bought a few other items and didnt notice till I got home I was charged full price fir the journals. Thinking they made a mistake I call and the manager informed they dont honour the prices on the online Indigo store.
She said you could return the journal order them online to pick up at their store to avoid shipping charges.
Really... what a waste of time.
Customer beware
Bought an item on November 30. Received email stating item had arrived. It had not. I contacted the delivery company and they said they had not received the item from Indigo/Chapters. The tracking for the item says Unknown. I emailed and never received a response. It has been almost 7 weeks since the original order was placed. Straight up theft.
Saw a book on their website on sale for $29.34, went in to the store, it was $41. Most stores will pricematch sales in other stores but Chapters/Indigo won't even pricematch themselves - ridiculous. I will order it from Amazon. They didn't just lose this sale, I'll never go in their store again.
I place my order online just because I had a giftcard. Everything was in stock and it said would arrive by April 26th. On April 24th got a your order has been delayed message. I called and after being on hold forever I got the I don't know why it has been delayed and there is nothing i can do. The next day I call again and this time I get a little help that they are short on stock. HMMM sure ok. On April 26th I get an email saying they cancelled my order and my giftcard was refunded and they will still ship out the books from another location free of charge within 24 hours. Well 4 days later still not shipped. I will be using my giftcards only in store and will never order from Chapters online again.
I was a bit shocked Mein Kampf is back on their shelves, at Indigo, as they had banned it and pulled from their shelves in 2001. Spreading hatred, in word, in action, or in print is NOT protected speech in Canada. So when will anyone be taking action against Dr Peterson, who is a danger to society?

They couldn't send my item, although it said online it was in stock, they just couldn't compute. It was either too hard or due to incompetence, they couldn't do it. Nor did they keep up any communication, after a week of waiting I called them and all they said it is at their US depot all of the sudden and it will take some more time. It was too difficult...
I love ordering from chaptersindigo.ca. They have an amazing variety of products, competitive pricing, frequently have coupon discounts, they are on Ebates, have a fantastic rewards program and free shipping with a very low minimum purchase. I can not say I have never had issues ordering from them but I can say they have ALWAYS been AMAZING at resolving an issues I have had. I prefer to order online as the online prices seem to be lower (books especially). It seems odd but at the same time I can get where it makes sense, even though it can be frustrating. I still love going to the store and looking around, the staff is always pleasant and helpful. Probably one of my favourite stores!
I just wanted to make sure that you know about the service I received from Dustin on June 24th, last week.
Everyone was lovely and friendly but Dustin helped me out a couple of times. He told me where to go to get the book I wanted and when I couldn't place it, he came to my rescue again without making me feel stupid or was wasting his time. Then I got lucky again when he came to the sales counter desk to help out. He was just as nice and professional as before. Thank you Dustin. You are a definite asset to the Chapters' staff. I hope we meet again.
My order from Chapters had two books that were on sale, one shipped - one didn't (shipper never got it from the seller). Order completed, card charged for two books. Support suggested to go to store and buy the book (at regular price, not sale price) to have it for Christmas. Not able to get the book from store against the actual order (sale price). I will not buy from Chapters ever again, not worth the hassle!
I've recently became a very frequent online shopper and even though Amazon is sometimes cheaper, with the occasional online discounts, and the various Reward events (like 5-10X the Plum Points) I think it evens out. There's also a pretty decent selection of the books I'm interested in (mainly Manga, YA books, and some Comics).
They generally, especially in the past year, do a very good job with packaging. I also get my books on average within 2-4 business days of ordering them, and I always choose the "Free Shipping" option. It's definitely not perfect though, as I end up returning about 15% of my orders due to damage, but to be fair over 10% of that is usually small stuff (slightly tattered edges/spines as oppose to warping/bent pages) as I am quite anal about the condition of my books. Overall I'd have to say that the wide range of payment options and Reward opportunities is what keeps me coming back.
I ordered quite a few books from them, all at once. Half of them arrived on time, the other half, I was given the run around on as to when I could expect them to arrive. Once they began arriving, I noticed that a few of them looked worn, old. One had the spine unattached to the rest of the book. However, because I ordered them online, I would have to ship them back, paying for it, to have them ship me new books. I didn't bother. I won't order online from them again.
I love everything about indigo. Every book is displayed there. Books, toys, and everything for all ages. Other book stores don't have all of these stuff do sell customers that's why whenever I go to purchase books, I always go to indigo.
I wrote a review before about my disappointment with Chapters express shipping. I gave them another chance and pre ordered the Harry Potter Cursed child (last year) and it arrived on time. I pre-ordered a Rose Gold Fitbit Alta HR (February 2017) and it also came on time. So If you are not in a rush to receive your items, Chapters delivers on time and there are no damages to the items.
I had the most dissapointing shopping experience at chapters. I ordered a S'Well bottle supposedly a gift to a friend. I checked online if there are any inventory in store near me so I can just go physically to the store, but unfortunately there aren't any, so I just decided to buy chapters online and pay for "priority" shipping. Well big mistake, I never received the item. The "check order status" link on their website does not show Canada Post's real time tracking update but shows their own tracking system which is very frustrating. Customer service said otherwise but no, I perused every inch of the website but don't see Canada Posts tracking number. What is more frustrating is I could see that the item was shipped from the warehouse but on the day it was supposedly get delivered, it said "re-routed due to processing error. Possible delay" and no updates onwards. I checked the shipping address I thought I made an error. I could not see any errors. So when I contacted the customer service they refunded me for the "priority shipping fee" that I've paid. Couple days later I checked again where my order was because there was no changes on the online tracking system and customer service replied to me that my order was "lost in transit". How can that be? The other day the tracking system is showing it was supposed to get delivered? I could rant all day but I just want to tell other consumers that "don't do it!" Order online somewhere else. It bothers me that their warehouse, online website and shipping services are inferior. Management needs to improve online shopping experience for customers.
I preordered a book "the real Anthony Fauci" 2 months before it was to be released. The date indigo promised to have it delivered was on my birthday. I was waiting for this book for months! The date came and … no book. I got a hold of them online and they told me they are out of stock. I had to argue with them that I preordered it 2 months in advance. Then they say I didn't pay. I showed them my receipt of payment (that they send me in an email when I preordered it) and the payment that came out of my bank statement. They just ignored me and still haven't even gotten back to me nearly a week after I gave them my proof of purchase.
Now I'm just wondering what to do.
Never using them again but I'm going to get my copy of this book from them, even if I have to go into chapters and walk out with it, causing a scene.
Answer: You say "add to cart" and a botoom screen should appear that let's you checkout.
